If you get the build your own bowl, you get so much more! I mean you literally just say all the toppings and you can get all the toppings. I started with a salad base and tested this theory. I said I wanted a little of all the salad options and they gave me all the salad options. After getting the shredded lamb, I went to town and practically got all the toppings (sans all the spicy items). I had so much in the bowl that I had leftovers for the next day. A bit pricey for the category, but honestly, the food is better than some sit down restaurants. We just had dinner that costs us double this place and had left unsatisfied. Today, we tried this place and it was so much better than our restaurant experience. The food was plentiful for us and it was prepared quickly. The chicken and steak that we had were good. The food wasn't doused in garlic or salt so we didn't feel weighed down afterwards. The pita was freshly baked and we watched them bake it. There is plenty of parking in the back. Depending on the time of the day, the closest parking lot may be hard to get in and out of the place. Luckily there are two entry and exit points. The food is good. It's a bit more expensive than say other fast casual places, but the food tastes and feels more fresh. I would come back on a regular basis here. Thursday 12/7/2023 My first Mediterranean make your own bowl experience was pretty bad (with cava) but mezeh was definitely a step up. I knew about mezeh for a while but never made the effort to go until my friend recommended it. I made a takeout order using the app and as a first timer I was able to get 5$ off my order which is always appreciated (meal went from $12.66 to $7.66). I got custom spinach & chicken shawarma bowl (with white rice, pita croutons, spicy pickled cauliflower, feta, roasted corn salsa, pearl couscous, classic hummus, Lebanese tabbalou, Turkish salad, Spicy feta dip, baba ganoush, tzatziki and balsamic vinaigrette). The bowl was actually pretty good. The taste was there and the portions (especially protein) were good. Overall, This is more in line of what I had expected from these type of Mediterranean (build your own) places and I can definitely say that mezeh is without a doubt better than cava. It's a solid option that I would recommend and be open to retuning to. read more

Came for lunch today. Ordered the Falafel Classic and Avocado Spicy Lamb, each with no substitutions. Both were delicious, large and filling. A couple of comments on the spicy lamb dish. The Spicy Lamb was surprisingly spicy, but very good. If you are going to get it, be prepared for spicy! Also, my partner ordered the dressing (cilantro vinaigrette) on the side, and it was at least 80 percent oil. They didn't use it because it was unappetizing with all that pure oil. We asked for water as opposed to purchase a beverage and we were invited to take regular size glasses (same as for purchased beverages) as opposed to the tiny plastic cups usually offered for the complimentary water. Nice touch. One recommendation: the rice used as the base for the bowl is delicious. And they give you a lot of it. I think next time I'll ask for half rice and half lettuce as the base. One word of warning. The entrees each come with a pita wrapped in a paper envelope. The pita - to me - was dry, doughy and tasteless. It's unfortunate because the entree is so fresh, flavorful and good, and the pita so . . . awful. I'm going to knock off one star from what would be a five star review because all entrees come with the pita and it was terrible. read more

The portion size was great too! At another fast casual place, the bowl is one serving, this could've been two, I was just in a mood last night. Although they packed up my bowl with these beautiful colors, I was hoping for more lemon in the tabbouleh, didn't have that acidic touch. The hummus & baba ganoush was creamy & balanced out the crunchiness of the sumac cucumbers & crispy falafel. I ordered two sauces on the side tzatziki (creamy, chunky consistency) and spicy mango but it was not spicy at all. Fresh, healthy, and delicious mediterranean-style food! And reasonably priced to boot! What more could you want? Similar to Cava, but more and sometimes tastier options (and you don't have to order through an app, which you need to do at the Germantown Cava, because it isn't a restaurant but only a "digital kitchen"; it's also open much later than Cava). Atmosphere is fast/casual, so obviously don't expect a fancy restaurant or personal table service. But I have been here about 10 times, mostly take-out, and never been disappointed. There is a bit of a learning curve in understanding the different options and finding out which ones you are going to like the best. But definitely worth it in my opinion. My current favorite is the build your own greens and grains bowl-i skip the grains and just go all greens; build your own is probably the best option if you need to go gluten-free, as I do. Love the crunchy chickpeas! Hope this place sticks around; Germantown can definitely use more places like it. read more

Great location!! I've been a huge fan of Mezeh since I first had it at a Yelp Elite event years ago! I visited this past weekend for the first time. I'm not on this side of town often, but was nearby and wanted to try their Mediterranean flatbreads. I wasn't starving but wanted something small - well this was a perfect choice. Continuing my alphabet series, but doing two for the letter M. This negative review and then a positive review. In general I like Mezeh. First tried it in Wheaton Mall in 2018 probably before or after going to a movie at AMC Wheaton. Sadly, that one had closed around end of 2019 as rent had gone up in Wheaton food court and was replaced with Moe's, which could be a 3rd M place I could give 3-stars to. I had been to locations in Gaithersburg, Gambrills, Laurel, & Springfield, VA...always a positive experience. I almost always get a chicken bowl. On this night Saturday, August 27, I was in Germantown for an event and wanted something relatively healthy for dinner and had a movie to catch in Columbia on my way home, so was somewhat pressed for time. I quickly parallel parked right in the front. Getting that parking space upfront was the best part of my experience! I walk in. The woman serving the food was relatively unfriendly. Ok, that's not the end of the world, but already a little negative walking in. I felt like getting a different meat. I asked if the lamb cost extra, and she said no. I said then I'll try that. I got up to pay and asked that woman for a cup of water, and I saw I was charged $15 something instead of $12 something. I was guessing they were trying to charge me for a water bottle, and I said no just a cup of water, which she handed a cup. After being handed the cup, I said it's still showing $15, and she said you got lamb, which is $3 more. I said pointing over to the woman serving the food, she said it wasn't extra. Lady at register seemed dumbfounded on what to do. I said what are we going to do about this? She told me it was the same price. Her: I can't take off anything here. Me: So, you're not going to honor what she said? Her: No Me: "Fine, take it back." As I'm walking out, I said so stupid, you could've had the sale and also losing business here in future. The cook lady, who was actually the one nice lady in the there, said to call back and talk to the manager about happened since the manager wasn't there. Ultimately, I was now a bit more pressed for time and went with the Mission BBQ across the driveway, which I knew was delicious but less healthy. Oh guess what my other M review is going to be? See my 5-star review of Mission BBQ Germantown. Conclusions: -The women upfront acted as if they couldn't care less. So, instead of a $12 sale, they lost let's say $5 worth of food and my business. -In general at any Mezeh or any restaurant, if something costs extra, they need to show that on the glass or on their menu -No Mezeh even has a menu posted when you walk in. I know it's basically the bowls, but they should post bowl $12 or whatever, maybe say lamb is $15, etc. Like at any Chipotle, Cava, etc., the prices are clearly stated. So, it's kind of annoying Mezeh doesn't do that. I'm thinking of the manager had been there, it's most likely he or she would've said I'm sorry for the confusion, I'll take off $3 for you. So, depending on if I get a response & what kind of response, I get from the manager will determine my likelihood of giving this location any business. read more

I personally prefer Cava over Mezze due to the flavor and amount of topping options available at Cava. However, looking at them as a stand alone and without comparing, Mezeh has good options. I also know people who prefer Mezeh, so it's definitely personal preference. read more

Long time customer here, progressively this place has just gotten more and more unbearable. It started out super great, everyone was so friendly and the food was always fresh. Don't even try coming in 15 minutes before 10, they lock the doors ahead of time and pack up early. Several cashiers always have an attitude if you ask for water cups for some reason, and they started getting stingy with the amount of sauce they'd put on your bowl, if you ask for more their favorite word now is "extra". I've always gotten 3 scoops of hummus and today was told it'd be 65 cents for each extra scoop. Oh so I just have to eat my bowl bone dry now? Not to mention bowls used to cost $12 . All in all save your money for identical food at cava up the street. I see why digital kitchens are becoming more popular. So many issues with this place I'm not going back again. read more

Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of mezeh in crown so I wanted to give this location a try. I was happy to see the addition of the cauliflower rice for only an additional $1. That's certainly a trend at the competitors and I'm glad Mezeh took the leap to add it to their menu. I went with the bowl and added cauliflower rice to it. My meat choice was the shredded lamb and it was quite juicy, not dry at all. I usually always go for the cilantro hummus, caramelized eggplant, spicy feta and more. Every single thing in my bowl was super fresh and does not disappoint. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and extra speedy. I will continue to come to Mezeh as it's consistently a good deal with fresh food. Lastly, don't forget that they cater. A great option for work meetings or a family get together. read more

I've picked up food from this location a few times but the quality has been bad the last couple times I visited. They have gotten really cheap with the amount of toppings/protein they put in a bowl. I had a salad bowl last night for dinner and I was still hungry afterwards. The chicken shawarma was shredded and it tasted like canned meat. Very disappointed! Stopped by for lunch during the week and to finally use my gift card. I have had Mezeh before at a different location, so I was excited to check out the newer location. Im also glad that there's one closer to me. Mezeh has so many great options. It can certainly be overwhelming, but its worth trying a variety of things until you discover you perfect combination. This location is pretty spacious and open. I love the layout and decor. Only thing was I wished I had done an online order. Since I had to get back to work I was in a bit of a rush, and a few people ahead of me had no idea what to get so it took a bit longer. Nonetheless, I'm glad they offer that option and I will certainly take advantage next time. The staff are nice and efficient. The food is fresh and flavorful. Mezeh just opened, (two weeks ago) so we were happy to try some Greek food! 1. The hummus is amazing. We got the regular and the spicy. Sadly there was a hole in the box it came it, because it is all gone. (the whole was where the pita was dipped to remove the hummus!) 2. We got the "flatbread" and a Lamb bowl. Both were delightful! 3. The pita was perfect. Just the right amount of flavor and just the right size. 4. I am sad to report the Chocolate Chip cookies also had a hole in them and they are gone as well. Same problem as the hummus! Great Cookies! In our house Greek is often a go to. I'm very understanding and empathetic towards customer service / food service workers, since i've been one myself. with that said, i have never been treated like this in a restaurant. my boyfriend and i walked in around 5, and the man that we first spoke too automatically assumed we wanted the cheapest meal they offered, and when we kindly told him we wanted one of the more pricey options, he asked us THREE TIMES if we were sure we wanted to pay for that. everytime he said it, he said it in a way that made it seem like he was almost laughing at us, like we couldn't possibly bare the burden of paying $3 extra for steak instead of chicken. then, at the checkout, as we were trying to pay, the man asked us FOUR TIMES if we "understood" the total. we told him "yes" every single time, until he eventually had another coworker come over just to ask us the same question. all while having an extremely condescending and belittling tone. now, i hate to jump to conclusions, but i just want to mention the fact that my boyfriend and his brother, who i was both with, are black. perhaps these two people are just plain nasty and rude, but its also possible their behavior had something to do with race as well. read more

My husband and I have gotten food from here a number of times since it's opened. He always likes his bowl (usually chicken kebab), but I've found some of the options hit or miss. When we ordered yesterday, I saw that veggie kefta was no longer on the menu. I didn't particularly care, as I've tried both the vegie kefta and the falafel and was never sure what the difference was. This falafel is not the typical falafel you find elsewhere- You can't tell that this one is made from chickpeas. It's pretty good though, whatever it is. I was sad to see the eggplant wasn't on the menu. It was especially good on the eggplant pizza they had. Yesterday we ordered the margherita pizza, and the garlic was overwhelming. I wouldn't get it again. Speaking of overwhelming garlic, the lemon garlic sauce is the same way. And speaking of sauces, I normally like tahini, but there is something about this one that doesn't taste good. I do like the tzatziki, harissa, and greek feta, which works well as a salad dressing. The toppings are usually good, nothing there I would say to definitely avoid. They also fill up the bowl if you get as many as you're allowed. The last time I went to Cava my portion was tiny. I love mezeh with my whole heart. The food tastes fresh and compared to other places, the topping options are a lot more authentic. I personally love the baba ghanoush and I think their chicken options are always yum. The bread they give you helps hit the spot. I can't get enough of Mezeh. This is my 3rd time at this location this week and I must say I'm a tad bit obsessed with their food. The ingredients are healthy, fresh, and guilt-free! The new spot is located right beside Mission BBQ in the Germantown Shopping Center. Their concept is similar to Chipotle's where you can customize your own bowl. They have plenty of toppings to choose from where at times could get overwhelming but there's no such thing as too much when it comes to healthy options. My favorite bowl here is a mixture of greens and brown rice with the Shawarma chicken for a little kick. Topped with the green cilantro hummus, tabbouleh, couscous, roasted corn, Greek beet dip, crunchy chickpeas, and most importantly their caramelized eggplant is my #1 favorite topping above the rest. Don't sleep on the eggplant because this is a game changer in your bowl! They also have plenty of drink options to choose from and my favorite is the All Star Berry for immunity health! Make sure to download their app. for any special rewards and it can become useful if you're a regular like to me rack up the rewards points.
