I was nearby getting coffee and pastries so decided to get a quick meal at Cava. It's been ages since I've had Cava as I was over the 'build you own salad bowl' concept . This location always is busy and has a line out the door so I figured they're 1) either doing a promo or 2) have something worth standing in line for. My previous experience had been at the Del Mar location (I think it had been pretty good), It was so incredibly hot and humid today (90 degrees) Luckily there were 30min parking spaces available nearby. This location had plenty of a/c . I appreciated the easy to read menu above and also the explanation of items on the windows of items. Staff was nice! They were great with questions and helpful . I didn't realize the base price of $13.95 included the dips and standard protein (like one type of chicken). I didn't really want chicken but didn't feel like falafel . The nice girl gave me a good serving of the greens as my base (take note Sweetgreen). It was nice they also put the dips on the side and didn't make anyone feel like it was an inconvenience. They were also generous with the dressing too! My bowl was hefty and will make for two meals for me. My favorite components of the bowl included the base (really liked the shaved brussels sprout & kale) and marinated baby tomatoes. The eggplant was pretty smokey tasting (not really my thing but still tasted nice on a hot day). Packaging was study and clean. DoorDashed CAVA this time around, and unfortunately, it was such a letdown. I paid an extra $5+ to add salmon as my protein and received the smallest piece of salmon. The last time I ordered in person, the portion was much bigger and actually felt worth the additional cost, so the difference was pretty disappointing. I also wasn't a fan of the to-go sauce containers being placed directly inside the bowl. Not only do they take up space that could be used for the actual ingredients, but having the outside of the containers sitting directly on top of the food doesn't feel very sanitary. I usually enjoy CAVA, but this delivery order definitely didn't feel worth the price. Long line starting from outside on Wednesday evening at 8:40pm this place is popular. Inside the resturant reminded me of chipotle setup where you pick and choose your own bowl. I was lost in there not knowing exactly what to order the best possible way since I was new. I see that they have new salmon on the menu. It was salmon + strawberry sesame it sounded intriguing but today I was craving for some grilled chicken salad so I did. Did I regret it? Not at all. I will be back. Horrible menu design. The Greek salad is the exact same thing as the chicken and rice except it substitutes olives and romaine for the arugula and brown rice. But they list all the ingredients in completely different order making it hard to compare. Bad cognitive design. Proof that it's just another soulless corporate cash-grab with a "healthy" facade slapped on top of its glazed strawberry salmon bowl and the sugary tangerine aleppo drink you washed it down with. Every table had crumbs on it. The workers should wipe down the dining room at least every 30 minutes during peak hours to keep it clean for customers. You build your bowl with a base, dips, protein, toppings, and dressing--and somehow every combo just works. Plus, multiple greens options? Yes please. Their drinks deserve their own spotlight--the cucumber mint lime is basically spa water with a personality. I usually build my own bowl (control issues), but the pre-built ones look just as good. Disappointed to report a very disappointing experience I had at this location today. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've received poor customer service at this location.. I was ordering a bowl and asked if I could wait a few minutes for fresh chicken to finish cooking rather than having the small amount of leftover chicken crumbs added to my bowl. There was a fresh batch of chicken already cooking and it appeared to be almost done. Instead of accommodating my request, the employee was extremely rude and told me to "keep his line moving." I understand that employees need to keep the line moving, but I was simply asking to wait a few minutes for fresh food that was already being prepared. I felt very dismissed and uncomfortable by the way I was spoken to. I don't think asking to wait briefly for fresh food should have resulted in being spoken to that way. Having now experienced poor service at this location twice, I'm very disappointed and would appreciate it if this incident could be addressed with the staff and management. read more

I love Cava but this location is not it. I have visited here about 4 times? Maybe 5? And I have never, not once, received a full bowl. Every other location gives me a full bowl, but this one always skimps severely. To the point where my fiancee asked for double everything (but protein) and it was still half empty. It's unreal for the price we are paying. The staff also always seems so pressed and rushed here. I'm not sure what's going on with management? Or if it's just the demand of this location? We tried cava for the first time today for lunch! It reminded me of chipotle but Mediterranean food, which is right up my alley! Very clean and an abundance of seating inside and outside. The kids meal was definitely worth the price great portion! I had a build your own bowl with basmati rice, and braised lamb. It was phenomenal. There was a ton of different options to add so I do suggest taking a look at the options online before you go in so you don't feel overwhelmed, even though the employees were very patient with us. He has never had Cava before so I ran the menu over with him and he really wanted to check it out, I've been to the La Jolla location and that one is always messy so I was really happy to see how clean and well organized this location is. There was a bit of a queue and we didn't order in advance so Bryan could get the full experience. I do a grains and green bowl with arugula and chicken as my protein, I always get the hummus, tatziki and feta and then top my bowl with so many toppings but it definitely has to have crispy pita bites and tons of garlic sauce. Bryan opted for a rice bowl with steak and chicken, he was really lucky because the steak had just come out and it looked so fresh, tatziki no feta (weirdo) and lots of their new jalapeno sauce. This was so refreshing for us, especially with how hot it's been. I get so full so quickly so I ended up eating the rest the next morning for lunch. I really like my chicken protein and had a bite of his steak and it was pretty tender, he loved his bowl so much he still talks about it. We love the concept of customizing your own food. Great spot for a healthy, delicious, quick lunch! It was like a subway for Mediterranean food, where you get to create your own salad, bowl or wrap and customize however you choose! The line went quick, but it was surprisingly busy for a Friday at noon. I really loved all the options available and how they had everything labeled on the glass with calorie count as well. I opted for a salad base, but they also have grain options and you can split half salad and grains if you want. Next was the dip options, where you could pick three, then proteins (I did half steak, half braised lamb), then toppings and dressing. The braised lamb was excellent! So tender and flavorful. They have a bunch of topping options as well and give a free pita with the salad. Fountain drinks are available as well. There is indoor and out seating on a mostly covered patio. Parking is easy and the place is right off the mall parking lot on the corner, so you don't even have to wander far into the mall. I will definitely be back! read more

I come here to get my cava most of the time and they can be slow at times. I would always order ahead on the app, come in, and I'd still be waiting on my order. I just had some of his bowl instead of getting my own. Unfortunately, this location was much slower than expected--it took an unusually long time just to place an order. The bowl itself also didn't quite meet the standard I'm used to. Some of the "fresh" ingredients, especially the tomatoes, didn't taste very fresh. That was disappointing, especially given how consistent CAVA usually is. That said, it's still a good bang for the buck, which is why I can't give less than 3 stars. I've visited another nearby location that was noticeably better, so I know this isn't a brand issue. I know this is trivial BUT when I order as a delivery AND request napkin and fork but DON'T receive them, I get so upset and the food ends up tasting bad. Not every place of work has utensils available but I was able to find one. After all that my Chicken and rice was cold and soggy and just not worth my time anymore. Im 12 weeks pregnant and its 84 degrees hot out i stopped by to get food and one minute to the next i started to feel like i was going to faint the lady taking my order quickly noticed something was wrong asked me if i was okay had me sit down brought me water and a pen an paper to write my order when i was ready. Oh I was so excited to learn of a build-a-bowl spot that has many gluten free and dairy free options! There are several proteins to choose from, as well as many different toppings! They also have wrap options as well; they're just not gluten free. I built a chicken bowl with many toppings and the dairy free garlic sauce, and oh boy was it delicious! The fresh ingredients and the flavors of everything combined was amazing! I really like the hummus additions as well. My husband built a wrap sandwich and loved the size of it. He also very much enjoyed the quality of food. We tried the pineapple mint drink. I liked the pineapple but the mint was a little overpowering. This CAVA & Broadway Restaurant is located only 2 blocks away from the San Diego Courthouse , Hall of Justice. Since I had business in this area. I ordered the large size Sharma Chicken Salad Bowl with (yellow rice, feta cheese, lettuce mixed greens, marinated cucumbers, red olives, sweet pickled onions, diced cucumbers with diced tangy tomatoes, mixed corn, and pita chips) for the topping . I also was recommended by Toni to try their 3 dressings , the hummus dressing, tzatziki dressing and the garlic dressing. The Chicken Sharma Bowl includes a side of Pita Bread. I enjoyed eating this very healthy and very delicious salad. I also bought the medium size Pineapple Apple Mint Drink in the medium size cup. This beverage is very refreshing and delicious. My dessert was the one Chocolate Brownie. My total cost was $23.49. I took bites of the Chocolate Brownie it is very moist, decadent and very tasty Toni the server gave me very friendly and personable customer service. I had a very satisfying lunch today.
