Pretty good for a fast food restaurant. There are many options with which you can play. Cava Mezze makes me think of a Mediterranean version of a Chipotle. I enjoyed the braised lamb rice bowl with harissa, crazy feta, and tzatziki. It was definately very flavorful and heavy for a lunch. Cava also offers cool drink options like Mexican soda and Mint Tea, which is a nice surprise. The workers are fast and efficient and it takes no time to get your food. It is a little pricier than a Chipotle burrito but well worth the trip to try it for lunch. I would definitely try Cava for another lunch trip when I'm back in the D.C. area. read more

I LOVE their food. Always fresh and yummy. Staff is great too. I placed my order for pickup online for the first time and besides dressing on the side they got all 4 bowls right!!!! I will use online ordering again. I got there a few minutes early and the manager gave me a drink on the house while I waited. He's always very nice and they are usually busy for lunch, so it can be hectic in there. Juices are always good too and worth the up charge to get it. Love, love LOVE this place. While in DC for a week recently, we had dinner here twice and the best part was....wait for it...even my kids liked it (and they didn't even have man-n-cheese!). Both times here I had pretty much the same thing: Salads with a ton of tasty sh*t on them. I love the options (salad, bowl w/rice, pita) and just *thinking* about the sides that top them is starting to make me drool right now. Haven't tried everything, but the spicy lamb balls are delish, as are the crazy feta, babaganoush (it's not called that there, though), hummus, and spicy harissa. Those, combined with the other toppings--peppercinis, mint, onions, etc) and some sriracha greek yogurt dressing make me a happy girl. Finding a place in which I can order without being all crazy (got a paleo-ish thing going on) and anal is awesome...and to have it taste as amazing as CAVA's food does is pretty epic. Now, to get them to open one in Hawaii...nah, it'd be too good for here. We try to stick with over-priced mediocrity in these parts. Damn it. read more

CAVA is one of my go-to restaurants for a quick meal. The food and service are good. Prices are reasonable. My concern is the presence of pets inside the restaurant. Unless the animal is a trained service animal, it does not belong in a restaurant. read more

Delicious food (similar to Roti, my palate isn't refined enough to tell the difference). The pita chips and tsaziki sauce is a great snack. A much-needed addition to the Tenley lunch scene. Even with a line out the door on their first day open, the service was surprisingly fast. read more

I think Roti is much better. This Cava is right down the street from me, but it always seems like the meat and proteins have been sitting out for a long time ... they're not that fresh. Cava Mezze Grill is a quality restaurant conveniently located a few blocks from the Tenleytown Metro and historic district. It functions much like Chipotle, but with healthier, Mediterranean inspired choices. As I walk in the door to Cava Mezze Grill, I feel as if I have been briefly transported to an urban inspired interpretation of the Greek Islands. The ingredients are fresh, clean, and are the perfect way to top off a pita or a bowl. The meats (including grilled chicken and spicy lamb sliders) are thick and juicy. The wide variety of drinks, including juice--redemption!--are refreshing. However, there may be some hygienic problems lurking beneath the surface. As I was walking in to the restaurant, I saw a monstrous rat dart from beneath the outside seating area. This can be excused though, since rats run rampant in the District. In addition, I had a mildly traumatic experience the last time I was at Cava Mezze Grill. As I bit in to what I thought would be a delicious, perfectly prepared pita wrap, I noticed a piece of mint that I thought would be the lettuce I had asked for. Did I order crest toothpaste as my dressing? NO. If I had wanted mint, I would have had one of the mint infused juices they offer at the juice bar. In conclusion, Cava Mezze Grill is a quality establishment, that I only give four stars because of the unfortunate hiccups I described above. I encourage everyone who is looking for a nice, moderately priced meal to check out the place if you're in the area, or even if you want to take the trip up to Tenleytown, since it's so close to metro, and many historic monuments, including the house of famous writer (most notably her articles in the AUGUR BIT) Karla Swagastizado. read more

Visiting American University and had a delicious lunch. Loved the decor, choices of bases, proteins, toppings and sauces. Could easily eat at this fresh, innovative restaurant every day. Clean. Friendly. Not cheap but good quality so it didn't hurt to pay well for it. I wish one of these was open in my hometown. read more

I work near the Cava in Chinatown and really wanted to get some for dinner. Since I live in Cleveland Park, the Tenleytown Cava is the closest one to us. The service at this Cava was great, just like every other one I've gone to and it was a lot less crowded than the one in Chinatown (although it was the evening vs lunch). I almost always get a brown rice bowl with chicken, their tzatziki sauce and hummus are delicious additions and I love their yogurt dill dressing. Their pita chips and hummus are my guilty pleasure and their cookies are normally delicious too. All in all, Cava is amazing. read more

Not sure why it took me this long to discover Cava since I pass it daily but I could eat here every day. The selection of spreads, greens and meat options is varied and fresh and the staff are always happy to let you taste things you're unsure about (like the eggplant spread which I was wary of but found delicious!). The pita bread is ADDICTIVE! The atmosphere is light, airy and "happy" and the outdoor seating option is nice too. read more

Cava grill is literally my favorite fast food place. It is so delicious. I always get the super greens salad mix with a mini pita on the side. I've had the falafel, chicken and lamb meatballs. There hummus, tzatziki and harissa are the best spreads. The employees are also very friendly. The one part I don't like about Cava is that the amount of chicken they put in your bowl changes every time. Use their app reward program to get credits toward your purchases! read more

I usually don't have an issue with Cava but today was pathetic. I don't know if it was in the midst of a shift or what but the customer service was horrific. As I walk in there is no one in line, the young lady behind the counter and proceeds to turn her back and talk to a coworker. When she turns around she acts as if she has an attitude. I ask for a salad with mixed greens and she grabs a handful and just drops it in the bowl. I'm thinking to myself I usually get more but I left it alone. She proceeds to ask abruptly "anything else" and I ask for the mini pita. I ask for harissa and she proceeds to do regular hummus with the spreader as opposed to using the scope and assumes I want chicken as the protein choice. I correct her and she looks at a coworker, rolling her eyes and they both chuckle. She passes the bowl to the coworker for my protein choices. I get to the cashier and ask for a bag. The cashier proceeds to speed thru the checkout and slides me my food then looks at me funny when I ask for a bag. I don't know what was going on today but i literally paid $12 for a McDonald's salad with similar or worse customer service. I sent this same review to corporate as soon as I got back to my office, which I never do. read more

So a company visiting our location decided to treat us for lunch and decided on Cava Grill. We placed our order online and picked it up. The food was amazing Greek style I absolutly loved the meat ball and the fact that you can do half and half in which I choose shredded beef. The topping were excellent I love the Thaini sauce goes excellent with the rice and meat. I would definitely recommend this place as I am craving to go back again.
