I came to The Halal Guys on a Saturday evening to pickup takeout. There was one other customer seated inside, it wasn't busy. There are a handful of tables for indoor seating. I ordered a regular platter with chicken and falafel. I like the setup where you can basically customize your bowl with base, protein, toppings, the amount of sauce, etc. I waited a bit as they were making a fresh batch of falafel. The chicken was well seasoned and the falafel was not overcooked. The veggies were fresh, bowls include lettuce and tomato. I added green peppers at no charge and olives include a charge. The staff were friendly and greeted us as soon as we entered. This location is consistent with the other chains in the area. The regular platter bowl was delicious and very filling. The white sauce is so delicious while the red sauce is super, super spicy... I cannot handle alot of spice so I just asked for a packet on the side so I could add the amount of spice I wanted. It looked so delicious that I started eating and forgot to take a before picture haha.... I order takeout from here often and have always had a positive experience :)

I ordered on Uber eats. I got the chicken and steak bowl with extra protein. I also got the fries , a side of hummus and pita and side of falafel. I kid you not I had this food for six meals over three days. The portions are generous to say the least. I think I paid about $25 total with tip for my driver. I got extra sauce to make sure I would have enough for all of the food, the white sauce is my favorite and it comes in these large bags. I never got tired of eating it, and everything was flavorful and delicious. I would say if you are ordering from this place to just get plenty of food in order to mix and match sides throughout the week. Will definitely do this again if I don't have time to meal prep one week.

This was my first time trying Halal Guys, and I'm obsessed!! I I got the Beef Gyro Platter and those guys really hooked me up - they gave me so much of everything and it all came together so well. This was a fantastic meal full of flavor and insane spice (in the best way possible), and I desperately wish I lived closer to Bethesda to enjoy this more often!

Servings are greatly proportioned, and the food tastes good. The service here is different from other DT Bethesda spots and I actually feel welcomed. Please try this spot if you're looking for a quick bite!

Awesome service with tasty food that is relatively inexpensive for the area and the proportions. The staff is super friendly and even gave us a surprise portion of hummus! The space is small inside but suitable for a tasty meal and the music was definitely on point! I will definitely come back if I'm in the area and in the mood for something Mediterranean/Turkish.

The hubby and I stopped by Halal Guys for a very quick snack while we were out in Bethesda. We split a small Gyro platter and the food was very good. Our platter was delicious, with a generous amount of gyro meat (beef), lettuce, tomato, and rice. We, of course, topped it off with their signature white sauce. The meat was a bit oily (but gyro meat often is) but delicious and flavorful. I also loved how tender and well-cooked the rice was. Don't make the same mistakes I did: 1) Only check-in on Yelp after paying for your order... You'll miss the awesome 20% off your order Yelp Check-in promo! 2) Avoid asking for the hot sauce unless you enjoy being in a world of pain... We put a few dollops of the hot sauce on our order and I felt delirious from the burning sensation in my mouth. I enjoy spicy food, but this was something I was unprepared for! Luckily, the kind staff member working the front-end let me have a ton more of the white sauce so I could have some reprieve from the heat. There is a decent amount of seating inside (at least 4 tables) and restrooms inside aren't locked to the public. Parking at the Elm street garage is just around the corner and free on weekends!

Craving a little Middle East food. From the streets of New York into downtown Bethesda is the Halal guys. Known for their carts and street food in New York City this small establishment has a selection of salad, sandwiches in peta and Delicious crinkle cut french fries. Using the app is easy and you can customize your order.

Okay, that red sauce is really hot! I'm dying right now and had to get some water from Starbucks. This restaurant did a pop up in a food court through Fooda so I'm not at this location but the employee is from there. They're not selling drinks at the pop up which is why I was running around looking for something to put out this fire in my mouth. The beef platter has lettuce and tomatoes with the yellow rice under the beef. It's served with pita bread. They offer cucumber sauce and hot sauce. I should have noticed how carefully they were adding the hot sauce asking if that was enough. It was a good alternative for lunch. I just would have liked to have had the option to buy a drink with my order. The pop up was closing when I was there but the food was still fresh. I'm going to have to stop by the restaurant some time

There's something for everyone to enjoy at Halal & with a quick turnaround from the team behind the counter. Your choice of: Small or Large Sandwich (Pita) or Platter. Protein - Falafel (Vegan), Chicken, Gyro Beef or both = Combo. Toppings - Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Olives. Sides - Hummus, Baba Ganoush & Fries. Sauces - White (Mayo/Yogurt) or extremely hot. Note, there's hot sauce & then there's Halal hot sauce, be aware of the latter. My platter was a little inundated with lettuce & onions, yet the Falafel was cooked perfectly & the Hummus rounded out my good meal. They offer a Rewards program & the moment you sing up, you earn a free Beverage. Earning Tier: One Point for Beverages, Sides & Desserts Two Points for Sandwiches Three Points for both small or larger Platters Friendly staff & environment added to Bethesda Row's fast & casual eateries, offering inexpensive & tasty Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food. There's not much sitting space, yet people are open to share their tables.

The service was impeccable- the waitress and sommelier were both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Nadia, our waitress, offered suggestions about what dishes would pair well together for the tawle experience and shared her favorites. The sommelier went over the extensive wine list and helped us pick a nice red that paired well with our chosen dishes- it was called Yacoubian Hobbs from Armenia. The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming- you could dress up or down, pretty much anything goes! The walls are lined with colorful patterns and draped tapestries to create a high end living room vibe. Now for the fun part- THE FOOD! The first dishes brought out were the mouneh (pickled veggies), the honey soaked dates, and the three spreads (we selected the hummus with lamb on top for an additional $15, havuc, and beet borani). I'll add that they continuously bring out fresh, warm pita throughout the whole meal. The lamb hummus was savory and well-balanced, but very rich. The havuc had a beautiful lightness from the carrots and I loved the textural element of the crispy onions on top. The beet borani also added a welcomed freshness throughout the meal and was vibrant, light, and had wonderful yogurt flavors. The underrated dish were the pickled veggies because INSANE. I used these in bites during the entire meal and they all had a unique flavor as if they were each pickled in a special way- my favorites were the white radish and scallions. The honey dates were a sweet palette cleanser and cut through the savory elements of the meal. We continued on with the next round consisting of the field lettuce salad, the three condiments (we chose the toum, chermoula, and harissa), halloumi, omani shrimp, and chickpeas. The field lettuce salad had a zesty vinaigrette and I appreciated the acidity addition of the sliced oranges and the crunchy, salted pistachios. The toum was a garlicky aioli that I felt was best paired with the chickpeas- although all the dips were delicious with all the dishes and the pita. The harissa was a lighter version than I am used to, spicy, and paired well with the veggies and ribeye. The chermoula was my favorite and paired best with the ribeye- it reminded me of a flavorful and herbaceous chimichurri. The halloumi had a sweet honey and was grilled perfectly, paired with nice crunchy nuts. The chickpeas had a lovely consistency and were well seasoned- I think it was sumac, but whatever it was, I couldn't get enough. The shrimp were ONE OF MY FAVORITE dishes from the whole meal. They were juicy, seasoned perfectly, charred, and just chefs kiss. I enjoyed them with the chermoula and squeeze of lime. The main dishes and veggies came during our final (besides dessert) round. We ordered the sayadieh as part of the table experience and also added a ribeye to the order. We had ordered the charred carrots, but they accidentally brought us the wildflower honey zucchini instead, so we were lucky enough to be able to try both. The branzino (sayadieh) absolutely blew my mind. It was citrusy, spicy, seasoned with bright spices, and incredibly moist. I would honestly skip the ribeye- it was cooked to a nice medium rare and had a nice flavor, but I don't think it compared to the rest of the meal. The charred carrots were spicy, cooked soft- also one of the standouts. The zucchini was served beautifully and I enjoyed the sauce, but could also skip next time. We ended the meal with the bitter orange sorbet and the chocolate mousse. The sorbet was a nice palette cleanser as it had zest in the mix and was very light after the heavy meal. The chocolate mousse was very rich and had a new balance of chocolate and peanut flavors. They brought over complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate my birthday as well :) I cannot wait to come back to try more of the menu and I am so happy to have had a diverse taste of the Middle East. I'll also add that we had a HUGE bag of leftovers that lasted several meals and they packaged it up like true professionals. A food lover completely satisfied and eager to get back :)

In fact,…read morethere were several fire grills in the center of the first floor of the restaurant (it has two floors), and you can see the staff constantly grilling the meats, fish, vegetables and pita. This, together with the dark vibe, made me feel as if I were eating with ppl. from B.C. in a cave. Very interesting. I like that. For food, I got the Carrot Havuc, Omani Shrimp and Halloumi. But first I was served with some freshly made whole wheat pita. They were soft, chewy and earthy. The Carrot Havuc was basically a carrot+garlic puree. Very silky, refreshingly sweet, and a bit sour. The sourness may come from the garlic and lemon. Paired well with the pita and meats. The Omani shrimp came with 5 pieces, each shrimp was ~1oz so it was not very filling. The shrimp were meaty, fresh, juicy, though I wish it could be less salty, even if I already asked for less salt. The shrimp was said to be marinated with dried lime and tamarind but I could only taste the flavor of dried lime. The Halloumi cheese was brushed wild flower honey and topped with Egyptian dukkah, then baked until the outside was golden brown. It was salty and sweet, and the (tons of) sesame seeds added some fragrance to it. However, the peanut was too roughly chopped so that they fell off from the cheese when I slice it, and thus difficult to eat with the cheese. Service was not worth the 20% mandatory tip. For example, when I asked about the sourness of the Carrot Havuc, he did not know why and said he would "taste it and let me know where the sourness came from". Unfortunately, he did not tell me until I asked again when doing the check (I doubt if he tasted it in the first place). Neither did he ask me about the other dishes. Overall, the dishes were great but not impressive, and was mostly heavily flavored. The service could be improved.

The rice was cooked well, but it was just way too much of it in the bowl. The falafel were crispy and not dried out, which I appreciated. The onions were okay, and not necessarily needed in the dish. A large wine list that they know back to front and can recommend wines from based on your food choices and personal tastes. An elegant but not ostentatious interior. There have been a few items I was unsure of when reading the descriptions, but I have always been blown away by the thoughtfulness and balance that comes with each or their dishes. Of note, their seared scallops that came with a savory and sweet white chocolate sauce were one of my favorite dishes of 2025. Not to mention, the prices here are reasonable and not unnecessarily inflated like other places that market themselves as wine bars. I hope the success here signals a shift in the wine bar model toward unpretentious but thoughtfully designed dishes for a reasonable price. Overall, Little Blackbird is an incredible restaurant that I think deserves more recognition. I will certainly be back soon.
