I did an uber eats delivery because I needed something healthy fast... I was skeptical as to the level of freshness or quantity or quality ... but I was very pleasantly surprised. At first glance it looked scant and the side dip mountain my salad bowl were quite small- but the amount of freshness veggies and chicken was really nice. We really need a Cava in the Seattle area. I mean, really. So every time I visit the DC area, I gotta get my Cava on and this location at the Navy Yard is a solid one. It curbed that Cava craving. I visited Cava during the lunch hour and it was busy, with a line that basically curved around the room. I will say though that this location is not the largest in the Navy Yard neighborhood. But most people were getting takeout here versus dining in, so at least there were tables available despite how busy it gets during the lunch hour. I created my own bowl of Mediterranean goodies, and it was tasty. There's a lot to choose from in making your own Mediterranean bowl, with different proteins, sauces, veggies, etc. I also advise trying one of their housemade fruit beverages. Negative stars for me. I'm a CAVA girl. I've never ordered Cava online and I've never used DoorDash. I'm never doing it ever again. I placed an order for 15 meals for my monthly team meeting. I placed the order through Door Dash yesterday, 11/7/23, approximately 3:30pm. The payment went through successfully, and received the confirmation email. I scheduled the delivery for Wednesday, 11/8/23 between 11:30 - 11:50. The confirmation email said the dasher would meet me in the lobby on 11/8/23 approximately 11:40. On the morning of 11/8/23, approximately 8am, I added one more bowl to our order. It was charged separately. 10:45am I received a cancellation email from Door Dash saying the order couldn't be processed and to expect a refund. I called CAVA as soon as they opened, no answer. I called Cava again at 11:40, no answer. I called CAVA again 11:46, no answer. I called door dash customer service for help. No help ... they said CAVA never confirmed the big order. They only confirmed the 1 added bowl. I called CAVA back at 3:06pm and finally spoke with a manager. I don't remember her name. She blamed in back on Door Dash, said they didn't receive it. I'm not sure where the problem lies but neither CAVA or Door Dash offered any compensation for the huge, corporate ($200+) lunch mess up. I deleted my Door Dash account - don't need that kind of stress in my life. I'll continue to frequent CAVA just not THIS location and I'll never order online from any CAVA going forward. read more

The staff was a little stiff at first but opened up and became friendly when i started to smile and be nice. you never know what is going on in someone else's mind or life. plus, they work fast food. they should not be expected to kiss our butts just because they work fast food. that is not a fun job and the public should not treat them like servants waiting to please. The 3 girls i interacted with were very friendly and helpfully. the one on the register was a little rude and stiff. but who cares. they have a crappy job, i don't. they make crappy money. i would be pissed off too. i got my food, it tasted great and i was in and out in under 7 minutes. plus it only costed me 14 for a meal so big it was good for lunch and dinner. Cava's basically mediterranean food Chipotle style and I'm all about it. My DC coworkers highly recommended it, saying it was a must-try for people visiting DC. And I get why! I personally like healthy foods in a bowl. Large portions at an affordable price. I came with a coworker and I chose the create your own grain bowl option. They've got all varieties of rice/grain and hummus/dips. I was pretty excited to see the eggplant dip/baba ghanoush. Except it was definitely more eggplant-y than a true baba ghanoush. I have to be honest here, I've tried this Cava a couple times trying to give it the benefit of a doubt. They under serve like none other and do it every time. I added extra roasted vegetable to my bowl to find almost zero vegetables in it along with the other added ingredients. My current bowl is 1/4 full, the other 3/4 missing. Last time I wasted $15 on a bowl here. Staff is hit or miss too, they sometimes ignore a customer until the customer readily gets their attention. When I tell you this cava brought my happiness back I'm not even exaggerating. Not only did my food hit the spot. I had great very short convo with one of the managers, I think her name was Heidi? She was so sweet and made feel important. She saw how upset I was and decided to lift my spirits. She didn't ask why I was upset. All she said was " I see you're upset, and I want you to leave this place with greatness. Don't forget that no matter what you're beautiful and you shouldn't worry about things that would take your beauty away. Some times smiling can make your world brighter." This location of Cava is close to the Nationals Park and beautiful inside. It's spacious and designed really well. The food is well-portioned and fresh, the staff pays attention to all of the details included in what I'd like on my bowl, and it is always ready right on time. They're offering curbside pickup for those who are not willing to go into a store- visit their website or app and place an order, call when there and someone will bring your food out!
