One of my favorite Korean fusion spots opened up in the new'ish across the bridge "Downtown S.E." by The Navy Yard (I just made that up). I HAD to go!! Let me show you what they're hittin ON! . Where I am: @Seoulspice . Location Reviewed: 1251 First St., S.E. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: Rice Bowls, Gimbap/Korrito (Korean style burrito), Noodle Bowls (Japche- gluten free sweet potato starch noodles), Salad Bowls, Beef (Bulgogi), Chicken (Dak), Spicy Pork (Jeyuk), Tofu (Dubu), Corn, Cucumbers, Egg, Carrots, Korean Radish, Kale Slaw, Fire Powder spice, juices & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Korrito (a burrito wrapped in seaweed with chicken, corn, sprouts, kale, cilantro, crispy garlic, & ginger carrot sauce $8.99). STAMP!! Juicy chicken, with ingredients that blended perfectly because YOU choose them!! STAMP that carrot sauce too!! Their Noodle Bowl (with Japche noodles, bulgogi, kimchi, kale, corn, green onions, & fire dusted). STAMP!! That bulgogi was super tender, not fatty, those noodles were cooked to perfection!! Their Rice Bowl (with purple rice, spicy pork, kale, cucumber, carrots-$8.99, & a ginger sesame soft boiled egg-$2.49). STAMP!! Hot edible tender spicy pork, tasty rice, & well blended ingredients. I don't have a taste for the egg, but I know many do...personal preference, no judgement. Their House-made Kale Apple juice ($3.49). STAMP!! Refreshing, palate cleansing goodness!! Their House made Yuzu Limeade (Yuzu is an Asian citrus fruit $2.99). STAMP!! Yuzu taste like really good...limeade!! . Customer Service: On Point . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Rough . Recommendations: Get that Rice Bowl with the Bulgogi!! . New Navy Yard location! Long awaited, my favorite Korean food in DC!!!
    Traci N.

SO thankful a SEOULSPICE opened up in the Navy Yard area! This is my favorite lunch food in DC and I'm usually running to NOMA or ordering in, but the SE location is so convenient for when I'm in that neighborhood. There is metered parking out front. It's a busy area but that also means that you'll find a place to park as people are always coming and going, if you're coming by car. Once you get inside this location you'll be greeted by a vibrant baseball-themed mural (because: next to the ballpark!) and lots of seating. There are built in outlets in the center tables so if you are bringing your laptop or need to charge your phone, this SEOULSPICE is ready for you. The FOOD. This is why I'm obsessed with every SEOULSPICE. It's Korean comfort food, modernized as "korrito" (a play on gimbap), "noodles" (japchae), and "rice bowls" (bibimbap). I alternate between all three of these. Whatever I get, it usually has the tofu and *always* The Egg. The Egg is consistently marinated to perfection, soft-cooked, and goes with everything on the menu. Also worth nothing: the entire menu is gluten-free. I'm not g-f but for those that are can trust that there is zero gluten here. Including the desserts.

    Spicy Pork bowl with egg

We ordered online and picked up at the store. Inside you could tell it was new and fresh. It was easy to pick up and our food was ready at the register. We both had customized our bowls; one had spicy pork and added an egg (extra $) and the other was bulgogi. It was nice to be able to pick from many different sides. Each of the sides we selected were good. The egg was underwhelming and was placed whole into the bowl. We thought it was going to be sliced in half, like their promo photos. Bulgogi (bbq beef) was ok, the spicy pork had more flavor and we enjoyed that more. The bowls ended up around $15, which is about the same as similar bowls you can get in the area.

I was in the area and decided to grab some lunch. I'm glad I decided to come here. The customer service was a 10 as well as the food. I built my bowl and everything I had was delicious. I wish they offered more outdoor seating for the warmer months; however, there is plenty of indoor space and eating. I'll most definitely be back!

usually I don't try something again after a lame (bland) first experience but i am out here trying to be a better person (one step a time folks) so hello - on the bottom we have the Seoul Train with their godly spicy mayo. the chewy japchae noodles were slippery little buggers so hard to eat but a super fun texture. bulgogi was tender and salty and went well with the crisp vegetables - I went with a make your own on the salad base. I expected just ...leaves...but it was roasted vegetables in a seasame marinade. so so good and made the whole bowl moist so i approve - chicken was super delicious, soft warm and marinated perfectly. lots of flatter from the chicken and base so didn't matter how light their "ginger carrot sauce" serving was, so I survived that L - not a ton of topping options (or options in general), kale slaw added a sweet touch to the salty heavy flavor profile. kimchi is always a win, this one is quite mild so good for those who don't eat it plain like me ha. - overall a good sorta healthy feeling option that adds to the plethora of chipotle- style -fast casual - ethnic - cuisines in DC. not like great though, ya know? chipotle energy ....ya know? - one thing though! wonderful, kind, helpful, and energetic workers! great service for sure

Tried this place after receiving a coupon in the mail, and generally enjoyed it. I think this is a solid lunch option, mid work, something quick. It's quick and easy, the place is very clean, and the employees are great. As with a lot of these places, I think the bowl is as good as your choices. I like the purple rice as a base (prefer it over the noodles which I think are a bit bland and greasy), Tofu, Kimchi was good but J think I needed a bit more flavor. I would try this again and add one more sauce maybe and an egg. I think overall, this is a unique build it yourself food option that feels healthier than a lot of the other options!

Everything was 10/10 the service was top notch , WILL BE BACK . Food 10/10, it was my first time so they let me sample some things and help and suggested things the whole way . I love them

Best of all, there are mini donuts that are 1/2 of the size of the regular donuts (they have both!). The Classic flavors, mostly cake donuts are in the back while the seasonal yeast donuts and specialty pastries (croissant donut hybrids) are in the display case in the front. The issue is that while the donuts in the front are neatly labeled, the labels are teeny-tiny for the donuts in the back and impossible to read. I wish the labels were larger and there was a large menu for the full list of donuts (instead of the small chalkboard for just seasonal donuts). The super fluffy and moist cake Cider Cake Glazed hit the spot! Even though I prefer warm cider cake donuts, I didn't mind that it was room temperature. I couldn't resist the temptation to save the donut for the kids and noshed on the full donut not even leaving a crumb to spare! Nom nom nom. The seasonal (Sept & March) Brown Sugar Bourbon donut was fun to try. It was topped with delicious maple cinnamon frosting with a custard filling. While I couldn't taste the Bourbon flavor, the donut was tasty. The Mocha Donut filled with Mocha buttercream hit the spot! The seasonal (March) Matcha Latte cake Donut was divine! The seasonal (Oct) Caramel Apple Crumble Donut hit the spot with a maple salted caramel frosting and apple pie filling. I wasn't a fan of the Salted Caramel Cider or the Chocolate Cake donuts. They were a bit dry and after a couple of bites, I threw in the towel on both donuts. I also didn't like the Hazelnut cream donut (not a Nutella or ganache frosting that I expected). The Matcha donut filled with strawberry cream (April special) wasn't that good, the cream was way too sweet. Will come back for the Glazed Cider and seasonal donuts!

We ordered the Spicy Miso with the spice bomb and egg, along with the veggie ramen with spice bomb. The Spicy Miso was the clear winner--easily one of the most flavorful ramen bowls I've had, with just the right kick and incredible depth. The veggie ramen was also excellent and a great option for vegetarians. We also tried the gyoza, spring rolls, and Sapporo beer. For dessert, we ordered the black sesame ice cream, but the ramen portions were so generous that we were too full to finish it! Service was quick, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a Japanese ramen spot--casual, lively, and unassuming. The food felt authentic and the flavors really stood out. Let me start by saying I recently visited Daikaya on Monday, August 3, 2026, and unfortunately the…read moreservice that day was disappointing. I gave that particular visit 1 out of 5 stars. However, I also want to mention that Daikaya is one of my family's favorite ramen spots, so we were genuinely surprised by the experience because it has always been much better in the past. When we arrived, we were told that our entire party had to be present before we could be seated, which we understood. We also know that seating is first come, first served. In the past, we've been able to sit in a booth with two people, but this time we were informed that booths were reserved for parties of three or more. It was a little frustrating because the restaurant was slow at the time, and my wife politely explained that we would likely be finished before the dinner rush. Even so, we respected the policy and waited until a seat became available. I do want to give Terry a shoutout because he was very kind and professional. I explained that I couldn't sit at the bar due to my foot, and he was understanding. However, when he relayed that information to another employee, I immediately noticed a change in the other gentleman's body language and attitude. He seemed irritated about having to seat us. Once we were seated, the interaction only became more uncomfortable. He slammed our cups onto the table, and when I asked for a straw, he didn't hand it to me--he simply placed it down without saying much. There were several other small interactions throughout our meal that made us feel unwelcome. It reached the point where we decided we'd rather leave, so we flagged Terry down, asked for to-go containers, and requested the check. During our visit, I also noticed a party of four seat themselves and grab their own menus while both servers had their backs turned at the bar. When the same gentleman approached them, his demeanor was completely different. He was pleasant, took their order right away, and their food came out promptly. Watching that interaction made our experience feel even more disappointing. The food, thankfully, was excellent as always. That's one thing Daikaya continues to get right. I also noticed that none of the staff members we're used to seeing--who have always been warm, welcoming, and respectful--were working that day. Overall, this visit was a rare disappointment because the customer service simply wasn't up to the standard we've experienced over the years. While this particular experience deserves a low rating, I also want to acknowledge that every previous visit has been excellent. I'm hoping this was just an off day because Daikaya has consistently been one of our favorite places for ramen.
