We wandered in initially around 10:30 and found that they sell breakfast items, but the options were not available on weekends. The lunch menu was straightforward to me with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. I decided to try the turkey avocado sandwich which had mayo, tomato, lettuce, onions and bacon listed it with it. I found out that they were out of tomatoes once I mentioned a desire for extra tomatoes. This was a little confusing to me since they had just opened, but the sandwich ended up tasting good without it. I paired it with a bag of original Zapp's potato chips. It kept me full for a few hours. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich and it held me over before going to the airport. I'll be honest. I swore off Potbelly ever since I got food poising from them 3 years ago. Today I had a taste for a sandwich and decided to try them again considering this is in a completely different side of DC. I must say I wasn't disappointed! The staff was super nice and although I visited during the busy lunch rush, the staff did a great job of keeping everything moving. They do have tablets to help take orders ahead of you reaching the sandwich making area. The staff working behind the scenes were very fast and accurate. They also had wonderful customer service skills. I was in and out in a flash. They do offer mobile ordering to this is an option for those not wanting to wait. Just moved from the west coast and had never heard of PotBelly before coming to DC. When my partner suggested we eat it for lunch, I had assumed it would be a subway kind of sandwich. I really enjoyed seeing the history of Potbelly on the walls of the because I feel like it took me through a story and made me feel welcomed. I hate that this location is the closest one to me, because this place is absolutely nasty. Employees are unprofessional...carry on inappropriate conversations in front of customers. I was the only customer in the store at 11:30am and I now know why. if you don't know the process for getting assistance on the staff's terms, you aren't welcome and seen as an inconvenience. I really like Potbelly but today the lady making the sandwiches almost made me leave my sandwich on the counter. The guy taking the order and preparing the sandwich was fine but the lady who was making it after it comes out the toaster was very rude to me. Usually they ask you what kind of sandwich you have to confirm the correct one is out of the toaster, but she didn't. She just held it in her hand and looked at me. Never asked what I wanted, so I just told her to put "everything on it". When she was done she just handed it to me, no thank you or have a nice day, nothing. And then I heard her greet the next customer. Not sure if she's confusing me with some other customer because I only come here once every two weeks or so. And she's usually on the register and I don't recall having an issue prior. While waiting in line to pay for my order, I honestly thought about just leaving the sandwich and looking for somewhere else to eat. But I didn't. I just shrugged it off as maybe she's having a bad day. When I got back to my office to eat I noticed she barely put anything on the sandwich. Only two slices of tomato and the one slice of pickle that was mostly skin, and hardly any hot peppers. I'm on my way now to take it back and complain. This was an excellent experience the entire staff was bubbly and friendly very accommodating and moving at the speed of light! My food was hot and perfect I really thought it would take forever because all of the government workers from the surrounding buildings are on break at the moment but I was able to get what I needed in less that 3 minutes!!! They took their time in getting to us though there was no one else in the place. I think we walked in when they opened. Maybe it was a lazy Sunday for everyone.
