I've purchased about a dozen pairs of jeans from this cavenders over the last few years, for I'm a welder by trade and need pants that hold up. So I'm pretty accustomed to their sizing and fit. I went in the other day to pick up another pair, in my usual size, as I have done many times before without issue. Like most people, I get home, take off the tags, and throw the pants in the wash to get off the grime. Washed them on cold, delicate, and air dried them. For whatever reason, the sizing on this pair was different than what's usual, so I can't wear them. I went back in today with the pair of pants and my receipt, expecting to get a refund or exchange. Unfortunately, the manager said he couldn't accept them in "that condition", which is ridiculous. I've worked in retail for years in the past, and the most common returns we got were exactly the same as my scenario. So I don't understand why this store was unwilling to do what I consider the very basic and most common reason for a return. Long story short, don't buy from this particular cavenders unless you're 100% certain that you're happy with what you bought, and completely confident that nothing will go wrong with your product. It's sad, considering how many hundreds, or thousands of dollars I've spent here. read more

Had a great experience here. I'm sure my group of city slickers walking in stuck out like a sore thumb, but the staff was really helpful. He followed us around and helped us find things that would fit and gave us important tips to narrow things down. I was impressed with his ability to find boots that fit my stupid feet. I was certain that I would be unsuccessful, but I found a great pair of boots in about 20 minutes. FYI - they do have a big and tall section, which is 2 racks and most of it is tall. They did have a couple of "big" shirts and since I just needed a white shirt, they had some to fit. I will also say that western clothes seem to fit a little larger, I wear a size smaller in wranger than I do elsewhere. read more

Great selection of boots, hats, belts, everything Southern. Delbert tends to help us every time we're there and he's awesome. I went in just the other day and Delbert walked right up to us, asked what we were looking for, "boots" I replied. He said he had just the right ones for me. A little skeptical because I don't care for people waiting on me in a store, but he pointed out a pair of boots that were perfect. Literally. I tried on every boot on the store and kept going back to the first pair he pointed out. They have great prices and a wonderful selection. Everyone there is authentic and really knows what they're talking about. Definitely will continue to go back again and again. Prefer them over Sheplers. read more

"Go to Cavender's"-- the answer to my question every time I, a newbie to TX, ask a native where I can get myself a nice pair of boots that don't cost me 1/2 my paycheck. And they would all be right! I'm also not the only one getting this advice since every pair of boots I liked was sold out in my size. All the more reason to come back again! I know the sales people are trying to be helpful, but they can be a little daft. How many times do I have to say I don't want to pay $300 for a hat? Stop leading me to the Stetsons! But all in all, this was a pleasant trip, I recommend a visit if you're looking for some cool western wear. read more

I purchased my first pair of boots around Mid March, had a great experience first time I walked in. Didn't really get much help when I was choosing a pair to purchase. Any how, I found a pair I really liked, and purchased them for around $140.00. Now this is where it gets good, I work a Monday-Friday Office job. Indoors, carpet. After about a month of having the boots. I notice the hell is separating from the leather. Keep in mind this is my first pair of boots, I don't think much of it, but as I keep looking at them, I notice it's just on one boot. Now I know I didn't purchase the most durable pair of boots, or the ones made with the best quality, but hey I figured. I haven't even worn these boots outdoors much! Why is this happening? I contact ARIAT directly, where they advise me go to where I purchased my product and they would be able to resolve my issue with the boots. I'd thought hey let me call before hand since I live about 20 minutes away. I call in and speak to the manager directly, off the bat he's very assertive and his tone is very nonchalant. He tells "Well I can't tell you anything over the phone bring them" I was just trying to see if they would be able to address the issue. He never answered my question. I go in to he store a couple days later, and speak with the Manager, he comes to the counter and I got the feeling feeling he was not too happy to be helping me out. I take the boots out, and I show him my concern. He takes a glimpse and the boot and says "they're all like that, you see that is where the nail grab the leather" I then proceed to ask " Well, what if a little water gets in there" Then he very rudely says "WELL these aren't water proof boots" like I didn't know that, what I meant to ask is that if a little drizzly is going on. The boot has an opening so it does look like water can get in. He tells me no again, so I leave, I figured I'm done debating this with him obviously, he's not concerned with customer service, he's more concerned with being right. I then contact ARIAT contact service again, they requested pictures and other information. I then receive an email, confirming what I thought all along. Its a manufacturing issue. They will be replacing my boots. ARIAT customer service was amazing. As for Cavender's Boot City in Plano I can not say the same, if you ever have an issue with your product you are better off speaking to the manufacturer directly. read more

Was looking for a new pair of boots and saw the reviews so I tried this place out. Fantastic! The staff was friendly & helpful. Their selection was far better than most places; there is something for everyone. I feel they could have a tad more selection of cowboy hats, but otherwise wonderful. It's a must-stop place if you live in Dallas or are down here visiting. I walked wishing I had more money to buy some of the cutest outfits that they had. Plus I really wanted to get some stick horses/unicorns and cowboy hats for my nieces. They would have loved it. Instead I was selfish and bought myself a pair of boots. Customer service was friendly, even if the lady running the cash register was not the friendliest (or fastest), but you can't judge how cool the store is by something so silly. If you do go, definitely walk the whole store before you pick out anything. They have so many options, and I almost missed an entire department. Just stopped in last weekend to get my very first pair of boots. When I first walked in the door I was a little overwhelmed, but I made my way to the womens boots section and found Tom, and he made me feel right at home. I told him what I was looking for and he was able to make some really great suggestions. He did a great job helping me find the styles I wanted as well as the correct size. He knew the products and different fits/sizing well. I forgot to bring socks but no problem, Tom brought me some. I ended up leaving with 2 new pair of boots for $214. Note: I am a big girl and was looking for "wide calf" boots, but the standard boots fit me just fine. They also have the ability to stretch them for you! read more

Excellent service! Bought a pair of Ariat boots and a hat to replace my old Stetson. I have in between sized feet and the sales associate was really helpful and super funny! I had a great time shopping and conversing with the employee and he made my shopping experience comfortable. The store is well laid out and there is always an employee ready to help. I was able to get my boots on clearance and instead of being $279 they were $189. It was a great deal! I will be back to buy a set of Justins in the future and some more Cowboy gear. Have big feet and was lucky enough to find a pair of boots that were comfortable and visually nice. However the employee seemed very tired and kept his distance at least 90% of the time unless we called him to ask a question. Didn't even smile nor enthusiastic. read more

The prices on the boots I looked at ranged from $120 to $400 and there was a huge selection. The employees here were friendly and I was asked about 5 times by different people if I needed help with anything. read more

We bought some boots in store every thing was fine. The one star is for the on line order. We decided to order on line for more boots as a birthday gifts. Since the size we needed were not available in store. So we placed the order we had a discount code. The site did not accept the code. Called customer service, were told the code is not for the brand we had selected. Fine we paid full price to be delivered. We waited a week then we checked the tracking # it showed it was left on the front door few minutes before. Went outside there was nothing there. Called ups to let them know. The next morning called customer service to let them know we did not receive the package. They said wait for 8 days. We waited and called Agee times in between to get an update. Remember this was a birthday gift, at no point during this time customer service offered any solutions. The birthday came with out any gifts. Finally we called and asked for either refund or new shipments, since our birthday girls were to be shipped overseas. We had to reorder the boots , pay for them and wait for the result of the first shipment. The second order arrived . Only one pair was sent. Called customer service again, was told they were out? Are you kidding me!!! . The the following day the lost shipment arrived, we took one pair and returned the other lucky our girls received their boots just a day before deployment overseas. At no time we were offered any discount or reimbursement. When you order from other places you will get replacement, until the lost shipment is found. Not with cavender's Very disappointed in customer service for what happened. And hope they make corrections, so things like this doesn't happen. read more

Great customer service. They allowed me to look around at my leisure, at the same time whenever i had a question there was someone right there. they were not intrusive or hovering at all. I ended up buying a Resistol Challenger silver belly hat and got 20$ off too. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this store! The sales people are the best I've ever dealt with. Patient, knowledgeable, helpful and extremely friendly. I have made two trips to Texas and stopped in Cavenders each visit buying a pair of boots both times. They also have a great selection of jeans, shirts, belts and sparkly girl stuff. Just make sure you bring some snacks b/c when you walk in it's going to be a while before you leave. Delbert was our sales guy, but Chris helped me when I came in to exchange for a different size and a young girl helped me my first visit. All three gave me top notch customer service. I should've known it was the beginning of something big when the sales girl said "these will make a good pair of "starter" boots." You mean people own more than one pair? :-o ... tells you what I know. Now I'm hooked and waiting for my next excuse to buy another really cute pair of boots I have my eye on. ;-) I am recommending Cavenders to all my traveling friends heading to Texas. It seemed like the employees were having some kind of meeting since they were just gathered at the corner of the check out. Turned and looked at us, then went right back to talking and giggling. Which made me uncomfortable. Never, did someone come up to us and ask if we needed help. My husband had to go and ask two guys if they could help us out. They just stared at each other back and forth, like neither wanted to go, but finally one of them did. We ended up getting what we were looking for. Over all, the store is great but I think customers just want to feel welcome and not looked up and down like we don't belong there.
