Okay, so I've lived here forever and just purchased my first pair of boots, so I am no expert but I love the selection and the people here at Cavender's. They have a good selection of high end exotic boots as well as high quality every day wearers. I came in to look for a hat and Garrett found me the perfect one the... the black Stetson Skyline. Looks so good on me. I am now a cowboy! So I shopped them at the boot barn but the boot barn is just the McDonald's of boots and western wear. Much higher quality and service here. The service I received during my visit today was extremely disappointing. I was not greeted upon entering the store, despite multiple customers being acknowledged after me. I was the only Black customer present at the time, which made the experience particularly uncomfortable and confusing--especially as this was my first visit while shopping for a gift for my boyfriend. I spent $173 in the store, yet felt ignored, uncomfortable, and belittled by the staff throughout my visit. When I was checking out, the cashier asked whether anyone had assisted me so they could receive credit. I explained that no one had helped me or even acknowledged me. Rather than offering an apology or addressing the concern, the cashier proceeded with the transaction without comment and handed me my receipt--no apology, no closing remark, no acknowledgment. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had, particularly as a Black woman spending my money in a retail establishment. The lack of basic courtesy and professionalism left a lasting negative impression. I will not be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

The two Hispanic ladies were nice on both occasions I spent over $500 in just 3 days. The other two employees almost looked like they were tolerating my existence in the store, not sure if it's anything to do with the way I look, but they still wanted my money though. Better to purchase online and just go in to pickup from the store, it's not like the in store service is worth it, plus the store doesn't honor Cavender's discounts. P.S. most of the in store selection is from china, not even genuine leather. read more

Bought some Justin Boots in late December and they are falling apart. I took them in to the Cavenders in Farmers branch and they said that Justin wont do anything about them as they looked worn....duh...they are effing boots, of course they are worn. They basically said they would probably cost more to fix than purchasing a new pair. I then asked if they would give me a discount to purchase a new pair and they said no. So basically, i will never purchase Justin boots or ever step foot into a Cavenders. We have purchased several pairs of boots, jeans, shirts and cowboy hats from them. I walked in today and was wanting to put an outfit together for my two family members and I had a friendly employee come and help me with the shirts which I appreciated at first. as I wandered off I remembered me and my friend were looking for tejanas, I politely asked another employee where the woman tejanas where at since she was already in the tejana area, she helped as well and asked "is there anyone helping you?" I answered no because I didn't have anyone helping me right in that moment. to make a long story short I guess I pissed off the employee that was helping me at first by saying no one was helping me which was not my intention and not how I meant it in the moment. that same employee and the cashier started talking about me right infront of me saying "she said no one was helping her" the cashier answered and said "who?" and the other employee proceeded to say "this one" the cashier then replied "she's pissing me off" i then apologized for making the first employee uncomfortable by saying no one was helping me even though i did not mean it like that. I also apologized for pissing them off. after that I was treated somewhat decent by the first employee again. next time save your time and go to Gomez western wear or even the bazaar I don't know anywhere that's not here Honestly. I came here to spend money and got treated weird which is honestly surprising since I always come here for special events and usually I'm treated fairly. read more

Well, we moved here almost a year ago and every time we visit Texas we say we will visit a boot store. Today was the day. Just wow!! I personally loved it. I loved the clothing options and boots... the boots. They were everywhere! Prices ranged $40-$700 and more. The boots we saw were awesome. When we have more money HAHA! We will come back. Our son did get a hat and the cutest belt and buckle. 4 stars because the fitting room did not make me feel safe. There is an opening at the top, so if there is a tall person they could see in. I definitely experienced that and had to make sure I was not facing certain ways in order to protect myself. read more

I had a great time yesterday shopping at Cavenders. I really didn't know what to expect with such a low average rating and so few reviews! Not to mention no recent reviews. What is up with that Dallas Yelpers?! There is serious construction going on around the area presently so my GPS send me on a wild ride but once I got to the store I knew I was in the right place. I am not from Dallas so I looked and felt like a NYC tourist but I was made to feel very welcome none the less. Kevin met me within a minute and connected with me several times throughout my hour in the store while I waited for my colleague to find some cowboy boots. The shop is well laid out, has plenty of inventory including clothes, jackets, jewelry, knick knacks, hats, kids clothes and of course BOOTS - and lots of 'em. Plenty of sizes, colors, styles and price points to choose from. There were some great sale items too. All of the service personnel that I ran in to was helpful and pleasant but I have to mention Kevin specifically because he was just fantastic. Kevin knew I wasn't going to spend much but he was still attentive, friendly and he never made me feel like he didn't have time for me. We chatted about the Jets and the Cowboys and he took the time to suggest somewhere to eat when I asked what was in the area. Thanks Kevin! I'm normally not one to write reviews, but I just feel that 2.5 stars don't do this place any justice at all. I have no idea why this place has so few stars! The selection was great. If anything, the variety was a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, everything in the store is organized fairly well and it didn't take too long to find my way around. The customer service was great. I was asked multiple times if I needed any help, maybe even a few more times than necessary! But it's better to be help too much rather than too little when it comes to customer service so I'm not complaining. One of the guys walked right up to me and offered me a pair of socks after I had spent 5-10 minutes gawking at the boots. Overall, it was a fun store with great items and a great staff! GIANT store. This is a go-to place to visit for people who want to buy some western-wear. I buy my boots here. Want to know something? Take a look at the labels. Most of what they sell here is made in China. Or Indonesia. Very few pieces are actually made in the USA. They do sell one brand of boots that are made in the USA: Justin Boots. BUT even some of them are made in China (check the labels). So, I wouldn't call this an "authentic" western wear store, but they sell a lot of it, and I have had good luck with their boots. They fit well and are cheap. I just find it humorous that someone from China could visit Texas and buy boots that were originally made in China to begin with. China should have a store "Stuff we sell to Americans" and in it would be all the snow globes and cowboy boots and shirts and purses they make and ship here for all our stores like Cavender's... read more

Was in Dallas for a conference recently. Conference was wrapping up with a HO-Down and needed some real boots. A girlfriend and I Uber'd to the shop. We both both found some. great boots but Mark didn't have my size in the style I chose. He ordered them, stretched them to shipped to my house (at no cost). Just got them and they are FABULOUS!!!! Terrible customer service! I bought 6 pairs of Wrangler jeans for grandsons. The day I bought them they were "buy one and get second pair half price." As it happened I needed to exchange 2 pair size slims for regulars. The manager would not make an exchange unless I paid more money for the one I'd gotten at half price. I left and went to another Cavenders and they made the exchange with no problem. I'll never go back to this Cavendars!! Came into this establishment to purchase boots for my girlfriend for Christmas. While checking out was the cashier was very rude on her phone and smarted off to me about my credit card also told the lady size 8 got home realized it was 8 and 1/2 went back today and I told her I told you 3 times that it was a size 8 she told me she was not paying attention to what I was saying to her very rude. On November 9th I stopped in to buy a pair of boots on my way out of TX since the ones I was having hand made weren't ready and my trip would have been a bust coming home with no boots. I asked my cousin who lives in the area to stop by a store so I could buy a pair. So we walk into the store and the two girls at the check out counter don't even acknowledge the three of us walk in. So I'm looking at the selection of boots trying to find one that will be close to what I wanted. I didn't have a budget so I was making sure that I got something I was going to like and be happy with since this was a mercy pair of boots. I finally decide on a pair that I will take to have resoled since I was not impressed with the one on it. So I'm happy I found a pair and I carry my selection up to the front and since I'm not really familiar with the store lay out I walk around the counter toward the front of the store and the three young people are looking at me walking toward the door (i had to pass it to get to the register) so a young man asks me if I ready to which I say I am and then he walks away. So a young lady is finishing with a customer and instead of saying I can help you right here she just looks at me. So I ask her if she can ring me out and she pushed a vest over and says yeah. Now from California and I have met my share of rude people..... I don't where where the Texas hospitality was in that store but you need to work on your customer service. I make more than enough to pay for a shitty pair of store bought boots and to be treated the way I was is unacceptable. I'll be purchasing retail boots at Shelpers moving forward. read more

My husband and I bought some Lucchese Boots at this store this afternoon. When we entered the store a man asked if he could help us and walked us over to the boots and then disappeared. My husband tried on a few pair and decided on the Lucchese boots and I had to go all over the store to find the sales man to get the other boot, and then he acted as if he had better things to do! I told my husband I was going to look at the shirts, as he put his shoes back on and of course.. the sales man sat the boots on the counter with the cashier and disappeared again. I picked out a Texas shirt and took it up to the counter where the boots were. My husband wanted some 20XX wranglers and we couldn't find what he wanted.. and of course there was no salesman.... we finally found a lady in the back putting up stock and asked her.. she said they don't get many of the plain pocket 20XXs and what they had was in the front. Of course we went to the front to see and there were none in the color or size we wanted. So again we go back to the back and picked out 2 pair of the originals in the color my husband wants.. we took them to the cashier stand paid several hundred dollars and our items were bagged. No "thank you" and .. no sale rep... As I drove out of the parking lot I passed the salesman smoking on the front porch, within a couple of feet and he clearly saw me... not even a wave or a Thank you or even an acknowledgement. I give him the benefit of the doubt..maybe something was going on that I had no knowledge of.... but I have been in sales, marketing and merchandising since I was 16 years old. I hope he is okay.... BUT we will not go back... and with very little effort, he could have sold my husband quite a few other things... I think Cavender's in general have a good reputation.. but we will not shop there again. read more

There are only two boot stores in Texas I've found that have my size 13EE in stock. Allens Boots in Round Rock (not Austin) and Sheplers in Austin. Cavenders in Amarillo and Dallas also had zero inventory. read more

I found a pair of boots on Cavender's web site and called around at local Cavender's to see if they had a pair in stock. First store was out of them in my size. I called the LBJ store and spoke with Mark. He looked up in his system to see if they had a pair. They did -- one left -- and then he took the extra step. "Let me go back and put a pair of eyes on them" he said. I was impressed with this extra step to ensure the boots were indeed there and available in my size. I showed up two hours later, met Mark, and he had already set the boots aside for me. I was in and out in 15 minutes along with some good tips from Mark on how to make my boots last and look good. He was genuinely interested in my experience in the store and my satisfaction with boots. Very pleased...and love the boots. read more
