Extremely disappointing experience, over wait for the wrong order…read more We've been to this café before and have generally had good experiences, so this was especially disappointing. When I ordered, I specifically asked for the Sunrise Wrap with bacon instead of sausage. The employee seemed unengaged didnt seem to be typing anything in, so I repeated myself: "Sunrise Wrap with bacon substitution." I've ordered it this way here before, so I knew the substitution was possible. After about 50 minutes, we still hadn't received our food. At that point, the café had mostly emptied out. My mom went up to ask about the order, and the employee acknowledged that we had been waiting a long time and said she would check on it. About 10 minutes later, someone brought us our pastries and told us she didn't think a ticket had ever been made because she couldn't find our name. So essentially, our food order had never been entered. Another couple who had been waiting said something to us that they noticed we had been here awhile too and I overheard an employee mention that orders were getting messed up, so clearly this wasn't an isolated issue. Eventually, after roughly an hour and a half total, I received my Sunrise Wrap with sausage instead of the bacon I had explicitly requested twice. I went up and calmly explained that I had ordered bacon. I made sure to ask the lady who was standing next to the cash register who I explicitly asked for bacon with. Rather than apologizing or remaking the wrap, I was asked, "You want some bacon?" like no, I want what I ordered but I just said yes thanks. A few minutes later, they offered to give me a side of bacon so the chef wouldn't have to make another wrap. She literally said can I give you a side of bacon so he doesnt have to make another. But since they took my wrap, Im assuming their just making one with no meat inside. They then handed me my original, partially opened sausage wrap along with a container of bacon, apparently expecting me to remove the sausage and somehow reconstruct the sandwich myself that had sauce, cheese and avocado in. At that point, I went directly to the chef/owner and explained that I had waited over an hour and simply wanted the order I had actually placed. He asked, "You want a Sunrise with bacon?" I said yes thank you. What made this experience particularly frustrating wasn't just the wait or the incorrect order, mistakes happen. It was the lack of urgency, accountability, or even a basic apology after we had waited over an hour because our order apparently hadn't been entered correctly in the first place. The attitude throughout the interaction made an already frustrating situation significantly worse. Not to mention when my brother decided to order a coffee during our hour wait, the register worker rolled her eyes. When they also saw me get up after handing me my sandwich back with a side of bacon, the lady who handed me this / asked if I can have the bacon on side is giggling with the register worker and when she sees me walk up she puts her hand on her head. I was acting polite the entire time and thats why I originally said yes to just doing whatever is easiest for the chef but to just be handed that to recontruct seemed crazy and I dont think me asking for my correct order after paying and waiting is wrong. I've worked in the service industry, and if a customer waited an hour and a half for an order that was never entered and then received the wrong item, I would expect the situation to be handled with a lot more professionalism and empathy. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
