We contacted Noah's Ark Animal Hospital (which is also our regular vet) to see if they had any input on getting an An International Health Certificate (IHC). Which is a required document for traveling with pets internationally, ensuring they are healthy and free of diseases or parasites. We had a trip planned to Poland with a layover in Amsterdam, traveling via KLM airlines. We received an email back promptly from Armando Chavez, who ended up researching EVERYTHING! Not only did he put our minds at ease for the travel but he patiently and willingly answered every single email we had. We set up the appointment to begin the process. Everything went smooth and according to plan. Armando did not miss a beat, he kept us in the loop throughout the whole process. We didn't have any issues at the airport with any of the paperwork. Armando was even kind enough to let us know of extra documents needed coming back from Poland to the United States. I cannot recommend this veterinarian enough. They are extremly knowledgeable, patient and really on top of it all. We are clients for life and would recommend taking your pets here for anything necessary. This place deserves a million stars.

Unfortunately it was positive again. They noted that the shelter missed one vaccine and suggested I get it, which I did. I found the entire staff compassionate, friendly, knowledgeable and it was obvious Dr. Farmer has a way with dogs! Ella loved him. I am so lucky I live in the neighborhood here. I was referred to see Dr. McCoy by Sneakers primary vet, Pet Vet for a small mass in his mouth…read more The clinic was easy to find right off the freeway, but frankly a distance from Clear Lake. Upon arrival, his front desk staff were exceptional and kind to me as well as Sneakers. Dr. McCoy met us quickly and assessed Sneakers mouth. He noticed that the mass was pushing his front teeth. Sneakers was immediately diagnosed with periodontal disease from the looks of his mouth. Dr. McCoy explained the steps with details on how he'd surgically remove the small mass and then send it off for biopsy to verify if it's benign or malignant. He showed me graphics for better understanding. Dr. McCoy included that he would have to remove all of Sneakers teeth in the front. All of it sounded nice and I kept asking about the price as well as availability. Dr. McCoy would redirect my questions mentioning that the vet tech would go over all of that with me towards the end. After he left the room, the vet tech came in. She gave me two pages of price sheet covering everything. The price for the surgery was $4K. I was livid! Not even none of my surgeries of procedures have ever been that price. For a dog, it's at an outrageous price of 4 grand and can increase to 5. I was expecting it to cost a couple of hundred bucks, nope! The only option for payment plan was to get Care Credit (basically a credit card with high interest rates). I asked the vet tech if I could take Sneakers to his primary vet for the surgery. Her tone quickly changed and said that, if his primary vet referred him out that they didn't trust to do the procedure themselves as their specialty isn't dental. Umm, I was told by Pet Vet to get the estimates of the procedure and they can perform a cheaper surgery. I told this to the vet tech and she said that they were the professionals. She said the sooner they can work on Sneakers mouth, the sooner he will feel better. But Sneakers hasn't made an outcry of pain and has been his normal cheery demeanor. The vet tech said that was normal and the animal can still be in pain. Oh goodness me, I don't understand these money hungry vet specialty clinics. They seem to be all the same.

He had to return 2 other times so they could collect urine for testing. They never told me that he was dehydrated & needed another saline IV treatment on those visits! After the urinalysis came back & he was finally diagnosed, he went in on a Thursday so they could show me how to do the subcutaneous saline procedure. I was told that he was in stage 2 kidney failure. It goes to 4. I had to keep asking the vet tech questions. Dr. Lam NEVER came to discuss the prognosis with me!!! I was never told to start him on a special type of food which is important for this issue. On Sat. a.m. my cat was obviously in distress. I had to rush him to another vet to end his misery. I am so angry. There was never any suggestion that he was in bad shape or suffering. I would not bring a sick loved one here. Edit. It's been over 2 weeks since my baby had to be euthanized. IF Dr. Lam isn't aware, I have not even received a follow up e-mail or call about the status of my cat that was under their care! A vet is going to give a patient 10 days of saline to administer at home & not follow up? My cat wasn't eating & had diarrhea. I received an e-mail from Dr.Lam while my cat was alive. I responded immediately, but never received a reply. I took my cat in the next day, but Dr. Lam didn't make the effort to come talk to me in person. Again, I was told my cat was in stage 2 kidney failure. Cats can live for years like this. Mine didn't & I feel like it is because he wasn't given proper care. The vet tech that demonstrated the saline administration participated in the euthanasia at the sister clinic. I have not received condolences from either vet. I do not think that this is a way to do business. Is it just a business? I am so angry & I feel so guilty! I will never get my poor cat meowing in distress, collapsing,etc. out of my mind!!! I'm 62 & have had lots of cats through the years. I have never had anything like this happen at other vets. Now I am really mad after reading the reply from a different vet that did not treat my cat. She says that I denied blood pressure check. I am the one that asked the tech about blood pressure after reading about it on a Facebook group! The tech acted like it wasn't important or needed. I did not decline intravenous saline! On my 1st visit I was told that my cat was dehydrated & that it was too late in the day to administer fluid the preferred way because it was too time consuming. They did the faster subcutaneous saline IV which took minutes. NEVER was it mentioned that I should bring my cat back the next day for the other method!! Hospitalization was NEVER mentioned at any time during my cat's treatment. I am now seeing it on an invoice sent the final day that he was in the clinic. No one ever discussed hospitalization with me! Before Dr.Lam even entered the room or examined my cat the 1st visit, the tech mentioned that an x-ray might be needed. I was given the cost. Dr. Lam never mentioned that he thought an x-ray was required. In 1/23 I see an invoice for cost an abdominal x-ray. I only talked with Dr. Lam on the initial visit. Apparently there was a lapse in communication. I thought that I was bringing my cat in for the suggested treatment. Now I see that the e-mail says that he recommended a day of IV therapy. I have no idea if it was the receptionist or vet tech, but somehow it went to me being told that he needed saline daily. I brought my cat in for treatment & that's what he got- just a sub w IV. I kept asking the vet tech questions & she would go ask Dr. Lam. He NEVER came to speak with me!!! What kind of communication is this? No one ever said that he needed to be brought in at a specific time for an all day IV therapy. Why wasn't it recommended on the 2 other visits when they tried to get a urine sample? Perhaps it would have saved his life!!!!Long I spent 10K on emergency care for a Doberman that I rescued. I didn't have 10K at the time. I gladly would have done the IV therapy done during hospitalization if someone simply would have communicated VERBALLY with me!! Why Dr. Lam discuss the treatment plan for my cat?!!!
