Refrigerant is as dangerous to handle as propane. Anyone can get there EPA license for $300. It is cheaper to buy 25-gallons of refrigerant, it's about $200, and get your EPA license, it's about $300, then got your own Fieldpiece GS322F 3-Port Analog Gauge Set and the 3-hoses needed $175, some gloves and safety glasses, $25, and watch a YouTube video. The refrigerant isn't even flammable. Most systems take about 6-gallons or so. You guys wanted $1200 plus $200 a gallon for refrigerant. I was finally able to get numbers out of you. So absurd. I did it all for about $700 and have enough refrigerant for 3 more years. It was going to cost me $2400 in total to go with you guys. No need at all. read more

I do not recommend this company. They make a great impression during the sales process, but once they have your deposit, the level of service changes completely. The communication and professionalism have been extremely disappointing. We own a business, and our AC has been leaking. They came out to inspect the issue, we paid the required 50% deposit, and scheduled the repair for the following Friday since we don't have clients that day. We were specifically told it would be a 4-5 hour job, so we scheduled the appointment for 9:00 AM to ensure the work would be completed before we closed at 3:00 PM. The day before the appointment, we received a confirmation text showing an 11:00 AM arrival instead of the 9:00 AMappointment we had scheduled. At no point did anyone contact us to ask if this change worked for us or even notify us that our appointment had been rescheduled. They simply changed the time and sent a confirmation text. Once we realized the change, we called the company and explained that we had specifically scheduled 9:00 AM because we were told the repair would take 4-5 hours. We were assured the technician would arrive at 11:00 AM and complete the work. By 12:00PM, the technician still hadn't arrived. Despite explaining multiple times that we are a business with a limited schedule and that we close at 3:00 PM, we were simply told our appointment window was 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. They also claimed the repair wasn't actually a five-hour job--which only raised another question: if that's true, why were we originally told to expect a 4-5 hour repair? Changing a customer's appointment time without confirming it first, arriving well outside the promised time, and showing little regard for a business customer's schedule is simply unprofessional. Don't use this company. This is by far the worst experience I've had with an air conditioning company. Our AC was freezing up. The technician that came quoted us for a repair on our unit, a leak detection, and a cleaning for $2,500. We had to pay half upfront and wait a few days for someone to come out and start the job that we're were told would take 4 hours and be a two person job. I called the office to COFIRM what was agreed upon and they also told me what was covered with the amount agreed. On our next appt only one technician came out and they had changed our work order to a unit cleaning and a "bandaid" fix - in addition, they signed us up for a membership which WAS NOT discussed and not agreed upon. When I called the office several times they kept saying they would call me back and nobody did. DONT GO HERE unless you want to deal with dishonest people and crap service. Hi all, an HVAC installation performed by affordable heating and air approximately less than two years ago. The company installed my air conditioning system and provided only a one-year labor warranty. Recently, I experienced a major issue with the system (water leaking into the house) and was informed that the problem was caused by improper installation practices performed by the company's technicians during the original installation. Despite the issue being directly related to their workmanship, the company has refused to take responsibility because the one-year labor warranty has expired. The company is now demanding approximately $4,500 to correct a problem that should not have existed if the system had been installed properly in the first place. A warranty period does not excuse a contractor from responsibility for negligent or defective workmanship. Customers reasonably expect professional installation to be performed according to industry standards and to last well beyond a single year. I believe it is unfair and unreasonable for the company to charge me thousands of dollars to repair a defect resulting from their own installation errors. Had the system been installed correctly, this failure and resulting expense would likely have been avoided. So, I'll never do or recommend any business with this company. All I can say is you should do your homework before working with this company. I wanted to replace a 3 ton air handler and call this company. They persuaded that a 2.5 ton would work just as well and I trusted what they said and it was installed. Well that was a big mistake. there is really not that much of a price difference between a 2.5 and 3 ton but I am guessing it is smaller and easier for them to install it. I purchased a 3 ton from another company for the same price for my second floor and find there is a major difference. The 2.5 takes much longer to heat up and there is always 2 degrees lower than the thermostat temperature. I suggest you compare before you decide to work with this comapny. read more

He provided estimates for two different systems, breaking out the costs for each part and answering all my questions along the way. His thorough, patient and detailed explanations taught me a great deal more about heat pump systems than I knew before. But they brought the wrong AC unit on the day of the install and had to scramble to find a new unit that would work for my unit. They did it and it was great. Got a better unit for the same price. Recently had a leak from the rain. The Building Managers/HOA had a roof inspector come out and take pictures telling me it was the AC at fault for the leak. Affordable heating and air came out and took pictures too and said it's not the AC it's the roof. I was like great please send me the pictures and a short description that says it is the roof. This review is solely on our interaction with the customer service advisor. My husband, Mario, and I, spoke to Alfredo who was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to explain the products in detail to us and gave us an education so we could make an informed decision. We are still in the process of getting bids because we want to do our due diligence before making a final decision. From doing my own research I have learned that the quality of products today from all the different manufacturers are not the same as they use to be and, what will really matters most is the warranty and the customer service. Affordable Heating and Air has a great warranty (10 year warranty with an extended 10 year labor and system replacement warranty). That is a 20 year labor and system replacement warranty. You cannot beat that! Most units (condenser and furnace) have 5 years, maybe 10 years and, with shorter warranties, almost always, something goes wrong as soon as they expire. This tells me this is a company who believes in their products and backs up their products, which is also important. Alfredo was such a pleasure to talk to. Very personable and really knowledgeable. We cannot say enough about Alfredo who really followed through with us and provided us with a very detailed estimate, including pictures of the parts and a breakdown of the total cost. Really went above and beyond. We greatly appreciate this and hopefully, we can do business with Affordable Heating and Air. When all is said and done and, if we decide to go with Affordable Heating and Air, it will be because of Alfredo. I signed a contract on a Monday with Affordable Heating and Air for a new heating and air system for my rental condo in Sherman Oaks. On Tuesday they called and said, "we have a problem, we're going to need a bigger crane and if we get caught by the city it's going to cost you $1,700 more." I spoke with a man named Leon who was rude, and I told him that was not my problem - their estimator should have known what was required before giving me a price. The next day I spoke to the general manager, and by that point I was extremely upset and did not want to pay any more than the agreed price. I ended up canceling my contract with Affordable on Wednesday and hired a company called Service Genius the same day. Service Genius completed the entire job on Thursday for the same price I was originally quoted and did not need a larger crane. When I originally signed with Affordable, I even had to call a lady named Lorraine just to get a copy of my contract. Overall, dealing with Affordable was a highly stressful experience; they tried to change the price after the fact and did not seem to have a clue how to run their business. If you want a great company that knows what it's doing, call Service Genius instead. read more
