Very disappointed in service Bought an open log setup 5 years ago from stove barn. Was in concord- saw the stove barn still there. Pilot light went out. Called stove barn which has changed hands to Caesar. Clearly explained that I had an OPEN LOG fireplace that had the pilot light go out. They scheduled a visit. Today- they came and said they would not service any open log set ups. Even though they are qualified on gas stoves- would not touch it. Even though I bought it from the company that existed previously. Why come in the first place ? Did not recommend anyone who could service it. It's been running fine for years. Left me high and dry with no recommendations as to how to get it back on. Very unsatisfied. read more

My husband and I have a 40 year-old Vermont castings woodstove that has done really well, but it was clearly time to replace the stove. We have been going and doing business with the stove barn for many many years so when it came time to replace the stove that was the first place that we went. Because we had not really looked at stoves in a very long time. We pretty much wanted the same stove that we currently have which is a Vermont castings vigilant we did not realize that all stoves now have a glass front due to EPA regulations. An older man came out to help us and we were looking at the various stoves that all had a glass front. They had no Vermont casting stoves in stock, but that was OK. We really weren't planning to purchase a stove that day. He did give us a brochure, and I mentioned to him that I really didn't want glass doors that I wanted to switch them out for the cast iron doors similar to what we currently have. I was unaware that those are no longer an option. He said well all of our stoves are going to have glass doors so we don't have anything for you. My husband said well OK if all of your stoves have glass doors then what do you have? Don't worry about the glass, What would you Recommend and the gentleman said well all of our stoves have glass doors so we don't have anything for you and he asked my husband to give him back his brochure. My husband and I just looked at each other and no matter how many times we said to him OK if they all have glass doors then just tell us what you have even with glass doors don't worry about the glass doors just tell us what you have but he was unable to move aside from the fact that they all had glass doors and he just would not even deal with us at that point. The thing is that because we had not had to buy a woodstove for a very long time. We did not know that all of the stoves now had glass doors. We went down the street to abundant life in Chichester and went inside, found a lovely Vermont castings encore stove that is being installed today, with glass doors, The salesman was helpful and explained to us that all stoves now have glass doors, and that we would not be able to find a new stove without them due to EPA regulations and while we didn't plan on buying a stove that day we ended up purchasing a new stove. This is very disappointing because we had dealt with the stove barn for many many years, probably 20 years anyway, and the salesman was so bad and the fact that he took his brochure back just floored me. I've held off on this review to ensure I could be fair and object. First, the Stove Barn has a nice selection of Vermont Castings stoves and inserts. The staff is very friendly and does their best to accommodate the customer. installation went well and James did a lot of work, answered many questions and gave a very quick demonstration before he left ... at 9:00PM! James was patient, professional and even played with my dog. That's where the good news ends. Customer service is far from stellar. Oh yes, they're friendly, but no follow through. There is a big problem with my stove that they are all aware of. One service call was a no show. The stove is not efficient and only burns for 2 hours, not six. I'm burning oak and maple that was split to fit the fire chamber. Sometimes I can "smell" the fire. Once my C0 alarm went off. Still no sense of urgency - just blaming the wood. Blaming me mind you without checking the stove out - ever. I'll be getting the stove serviced, but not by the Stove Barn. They'll get the bill tho! Save the risk of frustration and go a few miles down the road to Chichester or even to Hooksett. I really like the folks at the Stove Barn. Friendly and you'd want to have a coffee with them. But after sale support is non-existant. read more

Store is nice, but don't even bother trying to get someone to answer the phone, call you back or show up for a service call. We went in about a year ago to get a fireplace insert. Spent a pretty penny on the one we wanted, had to wait a few months due to the shipping container shortage. Finally came in, nobody bothered to call us, had to call several times to see if it was in. Told we could come pick it up and they would help put it in the back of our car. Got there to pick it up. Was told the front cover was delayed. Then was told it was over 350 lbs and they would have to deliver it to us for an additional fee. They finally delivered it and we were able to set it up. Then we tried to install the blower attachment but the plugs wouldn't fit ( wrong size). Told they would contact the company and get back to us. Weeks went by and finally after several messages and stopping in to see what the status was, they said it was on back order and they would let us know when it came in. Never heard back after several months. Went in to find out what the status was. Manager said that the company says its the right part and that it should fit. Returned the original piece to me that doesn't work. I said they needed to come out and verify that it was the part and not me trying to install it myself. Set up an appointment that they didn't show up to. Called them and they said that they were on another call and would be there later in the day, was not available and tried to reschedule. Rescheduled date something came up on my end, called them the day before to set a new appointment and no phone call back. I am unfortunately at my wits end with this store and don't think others should have to bother getting that type of service either. read more

Stove barn is a hidden gem in Concord, NH. My wife and I stumbled upon this store on a Saturday afternoon while out shopping in Concord.. We decided to check this place out since I grew up around wood stoves and we were looking for a better alternative than our crappy fireplace in our new home. Our fist impression of the store was.... WOW.... this place was very cozy with many different demo stoves running. We were greeted by James (the owner's son) who answered every question we could think of. James guided us to a Napoleon wood stove insert for our heating needs. After about two weeks we decided to go back and purchase the insert. On installation day I was impressed & surprised to see James returning to install our insert. He was also on time as promised by Mary Ann at the store. James was extremely thorough during the install and cleaned up the area exceeding my expectations. Not too many places install their own products... many just subcontract the install out... this was very comforting that I was dealing with the same people through the entire process from sale to installation! James covered everything I needed to know for the operation of our new wood stove. Now that the insert is broken in we must say that this thing is truly awesome. It produces way more heat that we could imagine. We have no regrets and we are happy with the level of professionalism and expertise from the Stove Barn. From the the helpfulness of the sales staff to the clean install I would highly recommend this NH family business to anyone looking for alternative heating for their home. We will returning here for our future home heating needs. We are both glad we went with a wood stove vs the cheap mega hardware store pellet stoves that won't work in a power outage. Went searching for a gas fireplace that would be installed in our newly constructed home in Maine, but quickly learned we couldn't buy from a retailer who cannot service it. However, we learned a great deal from one of the sales people there - Maryann- who was extremely helpful in teaching us about the different types of gas fireplaces, and telling us the things to look out for when we do buy one (in Maine). If our new construction was being done in the Concord area, we would have bought from the Stove Barn! read more

Had an excellent experience with the installation of my gas heating stove, beginning with the salespeople down to James, who did the installation. Very thorough and friendly, and James went above and beyond, I would say, by noticing and installing a door stopper to ensure that my porch door would not hit the stove. We have a 20+ year old Vermont Castings Encore wood stove that required repairs. The staff at the Stove Barn were great at diagnosing the problem. When the parts arrived (it took a while for Vermont Castings to deliver them) the technician who did the work did an excelllent job, left the place clean and gave us a good explanation of why the problem occurred and how the new repair solved the problem. The price quoted was the final price. We couldn't be happier with their service. read more

Great little place across from Shaws on Loudon Road. They sell a wide variety of stoves for pellet and wood burning. I go there regularly to fill my propane tanks because they are the cheapest in town., The people who run the place are very knowledgeable and friendly to boot. read more

To give a fair and balanced review, we'll start with the good- our stove is installed and looks great and our house is really warm. Unfortunately, we can't highly recommend Stove Barn because we had a lot of issues in dealing with them throughout the purchasing and installation process. The two main issues involved the permitting process and being mislead to purchase a stone hearth to go under our stove. When we purchased our stove, we were told by a Stove Barn representative that they would take care of the permit needed for installation; however, when we asked the installer if the permit had been taken care of, we got a very roundabout answer that made it clear that it had not been, and that they weren't planning on obtaining one. As a result, we contacted Stove Barn to ask about the permit and were told that if we wanted one we would need to pay for it. Eventually, after reminding them that they had told us that they would take care of it, they did. Our next issue involved a stone hearth that goes underneath the stove. First, we were told that we did not need to purchase a stone hearth because it's perfectly safe for the stove to be installed directly on the wood floor as is displayed in the Enviro pamphlets. Then, we were told that we would need one because of an "antiquated state law" that requires them. We were disappointed to spend nearly $300 on something that we hadn't expected to need, but didn't see another option since it was based on state law. After the permit issue had come up during installation, our trust was shaken, so we decided to look into the state law that they had quoted. We contacted the State Fire Marshall's office and were informed that there is no such law. Thinking that maybe Stove Barn meant a city ordinance, we contacted the city- again we found that there is no such ordinance. In the end, when we approached Stove Barn about the fact that there were no "antiquated laws" as they had told us, they agreed to take the stone hearth expense off of our final bill. There were other issues of concern in our dealings with Stove Barn, but these two were the most notable. It's not clear whether the staff at Stove Barn is dishonest, or just years behind the time as far as their industry goes (we were told by a Stove Barn representative that there had been a state law requiring the use of a stone hearth in the 1970's); honestly, I'm not sure which is worse. As stated previously, the stove looks great and keeps our house warm. And to be fair to Stove Barn, they did make good on their statement that they would handle the permit and did make up for their misstatement about the requirement for a stone hearth by removing the expense from our bill. Our preference would have been to avoid these hassles all together. My recommendation to customers would be that if you are going to shop here, do not be a complacent consumer- be vigilant to ensure that you are getting what you are paying for and that the Stove Barn follows through on what they say they will assume responsibility for. read more
