It's Friday about 6:00pm in Coral Gables and just got outta meeting and traffic is horrible in South Florida, so happy looks like a good idea. Many choices of good restaurants with full bar in Coral Gables, but this time decided to try something new. Heard of CEBADA ROOFTOP on a news report on WSVN that promotes new restaurant, so decided to give it a try. At first had a hard time finding because when looking for address it's not your typical storefront restaurant on Giralda Ave, but look for a glass door and hall way that will lead up to roof and restaurant. It was a very nice experience, music is fine, tapas style food was good, our waiter was very attentive and nice. place had good decor and nice ambience, I feel is more like elegant casual than just casual. Came to Cebada for Happy Hour with Co-workers and really enjoyed my experience. The vibe was amazing and the music was very mellow and nice. The Happy House drink menu has a lot of options. I had the "it just tingles bro" and it was delicious and similar to a spicy margarita. We tried the croquettas which were great with a queso cream. I've been wanting to try out Cebada since they opened since I've heard nothing but good things. Unfortunately on the day that we made the reservation it was raining, but they still have a covered space to seat us. Our server came over right away, and we all ordered passion fruit. Mojito's were delicious. Most of the food is tapas style so you'll share it with everybody. To start we ordered the corn ribs which is basically corn sliced off the stock with cheese and seasoning on it. I haven't had corn this way, but it was delicious. We also ordered the Croquetas, which came in a pack of six round Croquetas of Jamón(ham). They were very tasty and the sauce was a perfect complement to them. Lastly, for the appetizers, we ordered the baby back ribs, and those were my favorite! Full of flavor, and fall off the bone deliciousness. For the main course, we shared the flap steak which is large enough in my opinion to be split between two people. A friend of ours had the garlic fettuccine, and it was also very very good. We were too full to have any of dessert but I'm sure the desserts are also amazing. We all had a great time, and I would definitely like to come back to see the happy hour vibe on a sunny day. Even in the rain they had covered options and everything was great so we will definitely be back. It actually wasn't as normally packed. We went on happy hour , they do have some drinks at a discounted price (some of them premixed frozen ) . We ordered croquetas de Jamon that did not taste like ham not they did have visible traces of ham in them. A hamburger full of ingredients that tasted like burnt meat and an eggplant mousse that was ok. Overall may be a good place to share drinks with friends at happy hour. What a great atmosphere! Nice place to get a couple drinks with friends and mingle. This rooftop restaurant/bar has a great list of cocktails with some fun names for each and every one. The first cocktail I dived into was, "SI TE COJO TE MOJITO" it was their take on a mojito with a passion fruit essence. Extremely delicious! I later tried "TWO WHITE GUYS GO TO A DONKEY SHOW AND...." this spicy mango margarita was exquisite, my favorite that I tried. Be warned, you will have to endure the brutal Miami heat, but the vibes, service, and food will make it worth every bead of sweat dripping down your face. We always have a really hard time finding good service, so when we get it, it's a big deal. Gio and Alejandro took care of us. Gio made me an amazing martini. He also made food recommendations, which we appreciated. We were going to order the steak bao buns, and he suggested the lechón, which was a great recommendation. After my Martini, I ordered a glass of rose. Gio comes over with two glasses of wine, which confused me at first. Then I realized he was offering me a sampling of two of the rose's they offered so that I could choose which I preferred. That small gesture blew me away. He and Alejandro were both super attentive, fun, and made great recommendations. Someone get these guys a raise! The food: Delicious. The lechón bao buns are the best bao buns I have ever had. They were recommended by Gio and did not disappoint. We inhaled them, so no time to take a pic. But yum! They toast them on the outside and sprinkle some coarse salt on them. Delish. We also had the duck dumplings, which were served in a really interesting sauce and also delicious! These were also recommended by Gio. The drinks: I had an espresso martini, which I found to be one of the better ones I have had in Miami. My fiancé had Every Belen Guy's Christmas Vacation, which he enjoyed. Not sure I would have if I just reviewed my bill from their hand held card reader. Here's the fun part. We were given a 2 hour limit at our table. The waitress cashed us out at the 2 hour mark. The place was 1/2 empty AND there were no lines of people waiting to get in. -1 star for eggplant, -1 star for no mention of tip AND being "kicked out". Would I go back? The place was packed with not an empty space at the bar and not empty table available. But the atmosphere was defiantly a vibe, with great music playing. We thought when giving our name we would have to wait but luckily there was two folks leaving at the perfect time and we were able to grab a table. The menu is on the smaller side, but you can definitely order 2-3 shareable plates per person to try some of their delicious tapas. Or you can go all out and get one of their seafood plates. I am absolutely in love with Coral Gables first rooftop bar. I had the opportunity to check it out this week for happy hour, and it did not disappoint- HH is from 5 to 7 PM Monday- Friday. They offer great specials on cocktails, frozen style drinks beer and wine. We shared a cheeseboard, with manchego, parm, blue cheese, walnuts, almonds, etc. I tried the Paloma frozen drink, my friend had the Aperol Spritz- both excellent. New spot in Coral Gables!!! Had a blast last night at Cebada Rooftop. Coral Gables was definitely missing a rooftop restaurant and I never realize until last night. This place was a great addition to the Coral Gables area. You have to take an elevator upstairs and this reminded me of places in San Francisco and New York but a lot more cleaner. Once you're upstairs, you're greeted by the host! There's a perfect picture taking section to your left once you get off the elevator. I love them places do that! I feel like it shows that the owner thought about multiple factors when considering their restaurant/bar. This makes it fun for the customer! The drinks were amazing and I loved the creative names! They were aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well and you can tell a lot of work was put into it. They had a VARIETY to choose from! I loved the guava, mojito and coffee one!!! They have a small selection of food but I feel like it was perfect to match the environment and so it doesn't take focus away from the alcohol section. "I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Despite HAVING a reservation, the hostess never asked for our name and seated us in a place that should not even have chairs. IT was near the chimneys, making it unbearably hot, and the view was directly into the roof next door. We had come for dinner, not just drinks, and the seating arrangement was completely inappropriate. At one point, the server felt bad and try to moved us to another table, only to remove us because it was apparently reserved. Only downfall was that we sat inside for dinner (which we had reservations for since it was our 6 month anniversary) and we got sat by the bathrooms (one stall each, not great and smelled putrid) where the ceiling was dripping water the entire time. Doors were kept open despite the humidity and we were swarmed by mosquitos all of dinner. Our server was nice but was very absent during our meal, we had to flag down another waitress a few times since it seems they forgot about us. What a wonderful place to meet up for some drinks or dinner. Started off at the bar during happy hour, ordered myself one of the house draft cocktails called "Relax, it only tingles a little" and not only was it refreshing and delicious but so cutely decorated, a flamingo printed straw and a decorative flamingo on my drink, it was so good I had to order a second one and this time it came with a cactus decorated straw and a little yellow ducky for decoration. After the drinks we asked to sit at a table and even though we didn't have a reservation we were quickly sat. We had a wonderful dinner under the full moon and every dish we ordered was better than the one before. We shared all of the dishes we ordered so we could try all the items. Started with some cauliflower, seasoned in a cream sauce and toasted breadcrumbs, so yummy. Also ordered the smoked duck drummets, a first for me, and the meat was falling off the bone. The Australian flap steak we ordered was also cooked to the temperature we asked for and was flavorful. And for dessert we ordered the Tina donut balls which were so light and fluffy that it was hard to stop eating those little bite size deliciousness. We came to Cebada for a 40th birthday celebration and I was really looking forward to going because all of Miami and Coral Gables has been speaking of this place. To start off, we loved the entrance, looks like you're in the wrong area but the elevator takes you right up to the entrance of the rooftop. Once we were acclimated with the group, we started getting helped by Ali, which was truly amazing the whole night remembering our names and what we wanted as drinks as they kept coming. We tried the round ham croquettes with the guava dip and it was amazing, it was our favorite of the night. But there were others that we tried, like the flat bread pizza, strips of corn, and mini sandwiches. All priced well for their sizes. Only bad thing about going in July, even at 9pm, is that it's super hot, although they did have a lot of fans everywhere to try to keep people cool.
