We would have eaten breakfast there but they had people working on their ovens. So we got coffee to go. We sat outside at one of the picnic tables in the woods. First, the coffee was divine. I had an iced latte and the coffee flavor just punched through the milk. SO good. Second the shop was very cute inside and super nice counter staff. Plus the outside seating in a very woodsy little spot, complete with a creek bed nearby, was delightfully northern Minnesota! Highly recommend!

It was nice to be back here! A good experience, but nothing exceptional. It seems like they recently updated to Panera bread style pagers which is cool, but even though they gave us one, when our order was ready they just called my name the old fashioned way. They had some cool new artwork up for sale, and the coffee was still good. It's definitely still a place worth checking out.

This place has been popping up all over my for you page so as we made our way up north we decided to stop. It was about an hour before closing so wasn't busy at all which was nice. The outdoor space is beautiful and the main reason I wanted to check it out. Lots of table in and outside, pet friendly too! Unfortunately, my coffee was just okay. I added caramel syrup since I prefer a sweeter drink, but I couldn't really taste the caramel.

My coffee was amazing. I decided to come here after searching up coffee shops in the area. It's attached next to a bike shop and has outdoor seating. However, it was super cold so I opted to go inside. They had a good menu with plenty of drink and food options. I got a latte with a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was good, however I felt the English muffin had too much butter and couldn't finish it. Other than that, I enjoyed my visit there.

Cedar Coffee Company is such a gem of a coffee shop, tucked into the woods with a peaceful patio and large windows that flood the space with natural light. The drinks are delicious, the cardamom latte was especially good and they also offer baked goods and ice cream, which is a fun bonus. A cozy, welcoming spot that feels perfectly in tune with its North Shore setting.

Amazing coffee shop. Big windows from floor to ceiling that let in a ton of natural light, and views of the surrounding cedar forest (with trails that you can snowshoe and bike). A canoe hanging from the ceiling. Several people working on their laptops. Great atmosphere. I got a chai and my girlfriend got a coffee and croissant. All were perfect. Staff were super friendly. This coffee shop shares a roof with a bike shop that sells, rents and repairs bikes, so if you're passionate about bikes, this is the place for you.

Had been wanting to try out this "coffee shop in the woods" for awhile and it did not disappoint. The food was so good and fresh and made to order. We tried the red hash and cranberry turkey sandwich. Highly recommend both although the hash did have a bit of kick to it so just be aware of that! The brown sugar + rosemary latte was so good. All of their syrups were homemade except for the SF vanilla. They also had smoothies, beer and wine, and plenty of breakfast and lunch options. There was a fire going outside and plenty of seating inside with free wifi. Really liked the atmosphere there. It's connected to a bike shop and by a trail so you can head there before or after you're food and drinks! Very friendly and fast service. Will definitely be making this a north shore staple!

Came here with a few friends for breakfast and coffee before heading to gooseberry. This whole place was fantastic, from the outdoor woodsy seating, friendly staff, yummy bacon roll up, coffee, and the stuff you could buy at the shop, EVERYTHING was great. I loved this more modern coffee shop that was also rustic and hidden in the woods into harbors. They are in the same building as a bike rental company, which makes for a very fun pair. They have great parking as well as a wooded back patio with plenty of seating.

Gotta love their dog friendly patio, yummy smoothies and warm breakfast. Ordered 2 smoothies with my partner, one is peanut butter banana, and the other is blueberry yogurt and maple syrup. The two breakfast sandwiches we had were also great. Sarnie and croissant sandwich. I enjoyed the beautiful breakfast view.

We came at the right time as it got busy after we arrived. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Also, they have trails in the area. As I was walking in, someone was walking out with a Pup cup, which I think is great. They allow pups on the patio. The people are SO nice. And the coffee was SO good. I would totally go back and would recommend it. Note they do not have almond milk or suagr free carmel flavor.

This coffee shop is a real gem in Two Harbors. The coffee is good and the staff friendly, but the best part part is the relaxing ambience of enjoying coffee at the wood tables under the cedar trees out back. The Wi-Fi is pretty good for remote work. Also, I spilled my coffee (total clutz, whoops) and they were kind enough to offer me a free refill.

So... you know how when you're on vacation and everything just tastes better? Well that's not the case here. Cedar Coffee Company is hands down, no contest the best coffee on the North Shore. I had a sip of my son's hot cocoa and it may have been the best hot cocoa I've ever had. read more

Best place in Two Harbors by a landslide. I love coming here for the food. All kinds of great choices, especially for vegetarians. Anything from meals to snacks to dessert or smoothies. Coffee is good as well, but I don't drink much of it. Really nice people and good service. I love hanging out inside or outside. Wow. What a cool place nestled in the woods. The coffee was amazing. Breves all around. The bike shop is stellar. Everything you need for biking. Super friendly staff. Chatting with my husband, these folks are living the dream. They pretty much nailed it all: biking (great house-made bike bags), Lake Superior, fabulous menu, excellent coffee & woods along with a beautiful building, art and outdoor seating. This coffee shop/bike shop is tucked away on the road behind SuperOne. It is definitely worth a visit. Great coffee and beer selection (including Castle Danger), terrific food and a lovely north woods atmosphere set in a cedar grove. Don't miss it. read more

Excellent on all counts. Quality food, prepared so the flavor of the main ingredients isn't swamped by spices and sauces (the spices and sauces are there as compliment, not substitute); beautiful location amidst a stand of trees; pleasing architectural design. A beautiful locale, tucked away in the woods just outside Two Harbors. Windows all around highlight the natural beauty. Lunch was cheap and portions ample. Nicely accompanied by the delicious Monkey Wrench smoothie. Coffee was also tasty. For entertainment there's a 5* bike shop next door. Stop in for lunch or breakfast! read more

This is THE BEST coffee I have ever had. I am SO sad I can't have it all the time. We found it via Google maps on our way up to Grand Marais and stopped on the way there and back. The espresso is so rich and velvety, nothing like anything here in the cities. Their staff is incredibly friendly as well! read more

Delicious latte and cappuccino made with espresso machines. Highly recommend a visit here. The croissant was fresh...crispy flaky on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside. Just right!! Definitely stop here if you want a proper coffee with fancy froth designs, too. (And clean bathrooms). read more

You must have coffee here if you visit two harbors. Their house made chai will blow your mind--plus they serve food and beer too. They have a beautiful view of the forest in the back and hammocks to enjoy while the weather is nice. Bike shop next door looks rad too. Check them out! read more

We found this place through Yelp. Food was very good as was the coffee. Customer service was poor. Staff was unfriendly, didn't greet us when we walked in and seemed liked they rather be anywhere but there. Overall, 4 stars for the food, coffee & atmosphere. Great outdoor seating area. read more

This place really lived up to its reviews. Espresso was very well done and they even have a Cortado on the menu! Food is very very good. We had grilled cheese sandwiches and a brisket sandwich far above the level one normally gets at a coffee shop. Two thumbs up from our crew! read more

Lunched here with spouse and offspring. All three meals were tasty and filling. Remember, this is a coffee shop setting; order at the counter then sit and wait. Wait wasn't long, service was efficient and polite, and I didn't tip enough. If you're looking for breakfast or lunch in Two Harbors I would definitely check this out. This is a total gem in the area! We need more locally-owned places like this. I can't believe this place is in Two Harbors, MN. (No offence - I love Two Harbors...but this is a modern-looking café with beautiful food). Whether you are tourists just passing through the beautiful north shore area, or locals from Duluth, Knife River, or Two Harbors, you must check out this café! Great food, nice ambiance, high speed internet. I know it's hard to find a good cup of coffee in the area. We had the korean rice bowl and thai peanut bowl (spicy and delicious!) and the figgy pork sandwich. Would recommend highly! Also, the staff are super friendly, free refills on coffee, and you're sitting in a grove of cedar trees. Could it get any better? They also said they make their own baked goods, so I can't wait to try the scones in the future, and their brunch menu. Located just off the highway (past grocery store). Check it out! read more

Absolutely delicious! My wife and I stopped by during our 'layover' on the North Shore Scenic Railroad trip to Two Harbors. She had the Red Maple tea (and got a second one to go) and the Red Beet and Walnut Roll and I had the Fish Tacos. Both meals were delicious (as judged by our clean plates at the end). Looking forward to our next trip to Two Harbors just to have another chance to stop by. Thanks for a great lunch! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Dan C.

Dan is a co-founder of Granite Gear. This shop is the next adventure in his life. Together with his wife Kirsten they run Cedar Coffee Company, Spokengear Cyclery and Outdoor as well as Cedaero bicycle bag manufacturing all under the same roof. Their mission is to build community around bikes, coffee and adventure.

Located…read moreconveniently in the center of Canal Park, we stopped by on a sunny Wednesday early afternoon, hoping to score some of the best sandwiches in town. Even though this was well past lunch time at 2PM, the outside patio was packed and there was a line of 10 people or so to contend with to order at the register. Due to how busy it was, our food took about 20 minutes to arrive. The Squealy Dan, Porketta ($16) - Unlike most other restaurants with Iron Range Porketta, Northern Waters slices their porketta thinly instead of pulling the pork apart. It has a pleasant spiced flavor and the texture feels as if it's cured rather than roasted. It's relatively tender, and while they give a decent amount of meat, it's completely overshadowed by the heavy spicy quality of the black pepper and the acidity and vegetalness of the crunchy pepperoncini. There's a bit of melted gooey provolone on top of the porketta. While nice, there's not enough to balance out the peppers. This is all on a crusty almost baguette-like hero roll, toasty and warm. The sandwich is served with a side dip that's essentially black pepper and pepperoncini water. Definitely not needed given how overwhelming those elements are in the sandwich. (3/5) Pastrami Mommy ($19) - I haven't had bison pastrami before. Now I know why it's not very common - it's way too lean and dry compared to beef pastrami. Still, it's nicely spiced and peppery, and there's not much of the bison gamey flavor since it's cooked out from the curing. There's a little bit of mayo underneath and some mustard on top, but it's not enough moisture or fat in my opinion to counteract the leanness of the bison. While there are some slices of provolone above the meat, they are served cold. I feel like melting it with the pastrami on the griddle would do wonders to help develop some more unctuousness. It's also served on cold rye - perhaps toasting with some butter would also help. Otherwise, the sandwich is just too dry and lean for my tastes. (3/5) I feel like I ordered the wrong items. I probably should have gone with some of the seafood sandwiches, but I found it strange they only serve Atlantic salmon rather than local lake fish. In the end, I appreciate that Northern Waters Smokehaus makes most of their meats in house, but after trying their food, I feel like it's more hype than substance. This is the absolute best place to get coffee on the North Shore. BUT they are not only coffee! Cedar's food menu is delicious and although it's not as expansive as it was before covid, there is something for everyone. The staff is amazing and always cheerful even on their crazy busy days! So much so, I really considered opening a small independent coffee shop. Therefore, it goes without saying, I know about coffee--from soil to hot cup with cream. So when women entrepeneurs were showcased that morning, City Girl Coffee got my attention. Especially when she said beans are roasted and ground the same day. And she talked about the history of the parent company Alakef Coffee; a company started by her father because he wanted a good cup of coffee. Since I was running out of coffee and taking a trip to the Costco for my coffee takes planning and a 20 minute drive, I decided to give a go to Alakef. The worst that would happen is that the coffee was okay and I would freeze it as my emergency stash. The best, I would have a great cup of coffee. So I ordered a bag of French Roast (I like strong, dark coffee) and waited for its arrival. My coffee arrive the next week and I ordered ground because the convienence. When I sipped that first cup, I knew. Fresh roast, smooth taste, no bitter notes and great taste. Gentle but good coffee. Nothing harsh. My subscription for French Roast and Brazil ordered. My husband stopped drinking coffee about 3 years ago joined me in a cup--he takes his black. He vowed to get up in the morning and join me for coffee. Take aways: 1. If you like coffee and want the convience of home delivery give it a try. Subscription would cost you less than take out coffee anyday. 2. Smooth and not bitter coffee. The dark roast is not like Starbucks bold-gentle smooth taste without the harshness. 3. French Presh will yield the best flavor. Good luck and enjoy the coffee.
