I've had food from Cedar Hollow Inn twice in two days!! It's that good! On Sunday, I had the most awesome Belgian waffles with strawberries, mango and tangerines. It was beautifully plated and the waffles had a wonderful brown sugar crunchy exterior and crisp, delicious interior. On Monday, I had to back and get my debit card- Apparently I dropped it in the parking lot and someone found it and returned it. I got such a polite call to tell me, I decided to pick up some more food to eat at home. I got delicious onion soup, packaged thoughtfully, mozzarella and tomato salad- very fresh and it came with balsamic and oil and toasted bread to make bruschetta. We stopped here for lunch on the recommendation of a staff member at the Wharton Esherick Museum. Easy to find and lots of parking. We arrived and were quickly seated on the porch at our request. We were there 'before 4', so the evening menu was not yet available. But, there were plenty of great options on the lunch menu. We shared the Wild Mushroom Bisque, which was delicious. This was followed by a Caesar salad, also very good. Our main course choices were the Salmon BLT sandwich (messy, but delicious), and the Shaved Prime Rib sandwich. Our server was attentive. A last minute couples night out. We haven't been here for dinner. I love duck, so I tried the half duck. Wow it was a large portion and was very hearty. All the flavors were on point but I need to come ravenous to finish this meal. My hubby ordered the shrimp & scallop risotto. He did like it but the portion was a little small for him. This was the King of Prussia Ski Club's holiday party, so the atmosphere was festive. A friend's band was playing and everyone was out for a great time. The food was pretty good. The wild mushroom soup was excellent. Got the Grouper entree, which looked pretty and tasted good, but was a ridiculously small piece of fish. For $35, they should be ashamed! I don't mind paying for something when it's good and you get a fair portion, but I really do when I don't. The fish was doused with sauce and other things that hid how little fish there was. Service was also lousy. The server never came to check on how things were, so I could not express my dissatisfaction with the entree. Water was never refilled. Three of four people wanted dessert, but it was never offered and the server came with the check before we could order. Too many other good places to eat, so not sure I'd go back. As we were there to see the band, that could be the only reason, though I might eat somewhere else first. read more

This place was once a Malvern staple, now it just gets Valley House and PJs overflow at best. its time for new management. The management is miserable, no one there smiles or welcomes you. I was there on 11-29-2025 and it took over 30 minutes for two salads and an order of wings and there was an empty dining room. Setting was cute but the food was awful. I ordered the special charred romaine salad with shrimp. I got steamed, warm lettuce with a few overcooked shrimp. The plate it was served on was tiny making it physically difficult to eat. The shrimp still had their tails on which made it even more difficult to maneuver. My dining partner got steak and crab cakes. The meat was chewy and the dish was covered in a weird cream sauce. It looked extremely unappetizing. The bill came and I was charged $30 for a head of wilted lettuce, a small portion of rubbery shrimp and a diet coke. I will not be returning. read more

75 cent wings on Wednesday are worth going for!! The other food doesn't live up to expectations as much, but the wings are always cooked perfectly. They also do special flavors each week that are always fun to try -- sweet chili lime and chimichurri have been two of my favorites so far! It's been a few years since I have been here. It used to be great food and great service. Today we ordered the nachos as an appetizer to eat while we waited for our meals. 40 minutes later our nachos come out at the same time as our meals. It's was cold, the cheese was hard and it was very difficult to eat because it got cold. I don't suggest the nachos. They might have been better if they came out right away. For my meal I tried their meatball grinder. It's tasteless. Wawa is way better. The waitress seemed to keep forgetting about us. We asked for the check then she disappeared for 10 minutes. We were tired of waiting on her so we just walked up to the bar to pay. I looked around and there wasn't a single other table with anyone at it. The bar had a few patrons but no one was eating. We felt like the waitress forgot about us the whole time and the food was very underwhelming. It's been a decade since I've been there and it will probably be that again. We had a delicious Sunday lunch date experience at this hidden spot. The vibe here feels like a country restaurant from Vermont, New York, New Hampshire etc. They have a "courtyard" set up for covid safe outdoor seating and many people were taking advantage. I saw lots of people in joying delicious food Iced oysters being served. I gathered this restaurant has a lot of regulars. (I just might become on myself) We sat inside on a sunny beautiful air-conditioned porch. There were plenty of tables spaced apart for Covid-19 safety. At first we were the only couple in the restaurant. Eventually were joined by a few other groups later and we decided to hang out and enjoy the bottomless bloody Marys. The relaxed atmosphere and charming porch has such a homey inviting feel that I can see how someone could make a day of it. We started out with my favorite jerk spiced chicken wings. The homemade blue cheese dressing was exceptional. It was truly worth noting. If you come here find something that demands dipping into this blue cheese dressing. I absolutely loved it. (I recommend the wings) I really enjoyed the seafood tower that consisted of poached shrimp, Jumbo lump crab meat and tasty ripe avocado, loosely formed into a very nice "tower". The tower comes with arugula salad shredded carrots with a nice raspberry dressing. I thought this would be a nice dish to bring it to a party as a hostess gift for hors d'oeuvre. My husband had the blackened chicken sandwich. It looked delicious but possibly ever so slightly dry. Some extra sauce helped with this minor set back as we asked for some extra sauces on the side and our fabulous server brought over some of her favorites. The house made Rumalade was delicious with my seafood tower. Still, we both really enjoyed the bloody Marys they were not too spicy or too sweet. They were Just right! I'm looking forward to My next trip to Cedar Hollow Inn. One of my friends told me that they have buck a shock deals are oysters. Perhaps this is why I saw so many oysters on this particular Sunday. Adorably cute and delicious! My company hosted a holiday team dinner here. We got our own little alcove, which was semi-private and intimate. We were given a condensed menu, all with amazing choices. I chose the braised short ribs, which were DIVINE. The meat was so tender and tasty, and it was accompanied by asparagus and mashed potatoes. After I inhaled my entire plate, I got coffee and warm pecan pie a la mode, which was HEAVENLY. Service here was impeccable. The staff was completely on top of keeping our beverages full, as well as quick and efficient getting our meals out to us. I was incredibly impressed how on top of everything the staff was for our large group, especially considering they had a full house otherwise. This comfortable restaurant is tucked away in a pocket, and I get the feeling it has been around for some time. It's not small, with several dining rooms and window seats. It was crowded with corporate types that morning, but the crowd depends on the time or day of the week. Mondays are "All you can eat King Crab legs", while there are days with drink specials, plus live music Thursdays and Fridays. At the bar, Justin served us with flying colors. He gave my friend directions[1] over the phone to find them, then suggested I try their shaved prime rib sandwich. I agreed, and loved it: my sammich dealy-o was delicious and moist as all get-out, slow-roasted and served with a (sadly) barely-noticeable horseradish cream. Absolutely delicious. If you rolled a delicious and interesting menu in a blanket of comfort and style, you'd have the Cedar Hollow Inn! It has a neighborhood-like atmosphere with music, a bar, and restaurant all welcoming you into the space. The shrimp and scallop risotto is not to be missed. Four of us went here for lunch/brunch before seeing a matinee play. We had to ask for the brunch menu which I only knew about from going online. Two of us ordered Huevos Rancheros. Anyone who knows anything about Mexican food knows that the eggs and tortillas are supposed to be covered in a red sauce. Not here. It was eggs over easy with tortillas and beans. I love Cedar hollow! They always have fresh oysters... The food is amazing whether you're looking for a hamburger, or something more elegant like their scallop salad or duck breast. The staff is incredibly friendly, they often have live music, there's formal dining space, lots of room in the bar area, and often tables set up outside. Food great / service so-so I've only gone there for lunch and all dishes were great. The soups (mushroom and chicken quesidilla) were really tasty. Big thumbs up on those. I love the Cobb Salad too. The main beef I have is price - the dishes are too high! $12 for Cobb Salad - come on!! The soups are about $5 for a bowl (you usually don't have a choice for a cup or bowl). Minor complaint is that my hotel gave me a $10 voucher to go there. I forgot it when I went, but I explained to my server where I was staying and showed hotel key card, but she was hearing none of it. She even said there wasn't such a voucher - which is total bs. I got the feeling that the server never even asked the manager abut the voucher. Eventhough I'm working in the area, I won't go back. That voucher nonsense pissed me off. read more

I went here for my anniversary one night. We still talk about it, the way people still talk about the burning of Rome. I'm honestly surprised this place is still in business. I would drive by regularly on my commute and it always seemed busy. People said it had a good reputation for lunch so I made reservations and in due course we showed up. The place was not crowded at all. Apart from people at the bar there were all of three couples dining there. Were we given a table on the picturesque enclosed porch? No. Were we asked if we'd like to eat outside? No. We were given a table in the back of a nearly empty dining room with a splendid view of the kitchen by staff that projected the feeling that customers were getting in the way of what ever it was they wanted to be doing at that time. Another couple had it even worse. by the door to the patio the man was bumped every time staff went in or out, finally asked for a different table and told, 'there are none available' in a nearly empty room, walked out. The food itself was insipid. I had the crab ravioli in a thin, greasy sauce and no flavor. My wife was equally unimpressed with the food and service. The lasting impression was that it was very like an episode of Fawlty Towers, only I wasn't laughing. Not only will I never go back there again I make sure people know what sort of dinner service I experienced. Oddly, or not, no one I've spoken too has ever stood up for the place. read more

The mushroom bisque was full of tasty mushrooms but I would have enjoyed it more with a little less salt. My crab cake Benedict was a tasty variation of the standard. Went to the Cedar Hollow for the first time in years last night to play some Quizzo with Big Mike, who runs the Quizzo show here weekly. This visit was LONG OVERDUE! I had forgotten how good the food and service is here! A fun and friendly atmosphere at the bar. Quizzo is played in the bar area, which has a nice U shaped bar with seating for about 18 or so and a few tables as well. There is a bar menu, which is a subset of the main menu. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizza, wings. Standard bar fare, but they also have Duck Quesadillas, Lamb Sliders, Homemade Crabcakes, and Stuffed Portabellas on there which really make the bar menu stick out...and give you some hint at what delights await you on the main menu! I had the hot wings(40c each during Quizzo), which I found fantastic and my girl had the salad with grilled chicken. BIG fresh salad, yummy grilled chicken. Another member of our group had the pizza which not only looked delicious, but was prepared with fresh toppings. My girl rethought her salad when she saw the pizza! They also have a few dessert selections...cheesecakes, creme brule...I went for the flourless chocolate torte served with strawberry drizzle, whipped cream, and a couple strawberries...YUM! In addition to the fine food they have a pretty substantial beer menu and several specialties on tap, which are displayed on a blackboard. As crowded as the bar was during Quizzo, the sole bartender, Christina, did a great job keeping drinks full and customers happy. Kudos to the service with a smile last night! There are a few parking spots in front of the building, but the main parking lot is across the street from the Cedar Hollow. Can't miss it! We just moved to the area and had to try this place. People are always in, heavy on the weekends, from casual to business formal attire. We went in for a late dinner and had happy pleasant service throughout. Small dining spaces but cozy and excellent choices ranging from light and healthy to stick to your ribs rustic upscale cuisine. We tried the soups, cheese plate, sirloin tip sandwich, creme brulee and cheesecake. All were very satisfying and memorable, if not all perfect on the blending of texture/flavors. A cranky man left when he tried to get into the dining room at 9 when they closed down the kitchen. They have nice specials, art classes, quiz nights, and the bar seemed full but not crowded when we left before 10. Just got take out. My wife is battling cancer, so is very limited on her diet. No fatty meats, no dairy, no heavy sauces and everything tastes salty. This is a tough request for any chef, however, they surpassed all expectations. Grilled chicken spiced with basil, sweet potato and grilled zucchini. Fresh pico de gallo and a honey balsamic reduction on the side. It all tasted amazing! A chicken breast on the grill that is not dry and tough? I've never been able to do it. A Very Expensive Disappointment Despite the mixed reviews, we were anticipating a quiet evening and a memorable meal in a setting befitting a Chester County country inn. After being seated on the enclosed front porch and greeted by our server, it was looking to be a very memorable evening at this point. The mushroom soup was the highlight of the entire meal. It was loaded with bold flavor and a smooth texture, with just the right amount of chopped mushrooms. If they had served fresh bread along with it, I could have ended the meal here totally satisfied. However, things did not go well after that. Our server had trouble taking our order despite being corrected twice. And, after reading the corrected orders back to us, our server placed an order for an incorrect entree. When the two entrees arrived, she initially insisted that the order was correct until reminded her that we had corrected her - twice - about the order. Instead of removing both entrees, the server left the correct entree, returning to the kitchen to put in the order for the second entrée. Here was the issue: the correct entrée became cold while awaiting the preparation and delivery of the second entrée. To make matters worse, both entrees were disappointing. The portions were small, especially considering the high prices. The risotto was nothing special, and the ravioli was poorly seasoned, thick and gummy with little flavor. The ambient noise in this closed space kept increasing as the evening progressed. There was live entertainment in the adjacent bar area that was too loud for the relatively small space. As a result, the noise level was more in line with that of a sports bar than a country inn. Several nearby tables were filled with intoxicated customers who were so loud we could no longer continue a conversation beyond "We're leaving." What had the potential to be an enjoyable evening turned into a very expensive disappointment. We won't be back. This place has the charm of an old country inn but unfortunately lacks the follow through to fulfill its potential. read more
