The breakfasts Stacey cooked were scrumptious; I particularly enjoyed the fluffy almond croissant and the avocado toast with an egg on top. Our room was clean and cozy and the view of the woods in the back was nice. Parking was very easy. There's a common room with a good selection of board games and books to read though we didn't get a chance to use it. There's also some comfy Adirondack chairs outside in a grassy area for lounging. The inn is also within walking distance of several wineries (just be careful crossing the road) including Lenz, Raphael, and Pindar. Don't know when I'll be back in the North Fork area but I'd stay at Harvest Inn again!

Actually, lucky isn't a strong enough word-- blessed is more like it. Bartlett House is a sumptuously decorated restored 19th century home that felt like OUR home almost as soon as our hosts, Diane & Jack Gilmore, checked us in. We stayed in the French Room on the third floor. It is beautifully decorated with period furniture and one of the most comfortable beds it's ever been my pleasure to sleep in. The climate control in the rooms is excellent-- although the weather outside during our 5 day stay varied wildly from gale-force winds and rain to chilly drizzle and then spring-like conditions, the weather inside our room was always comfy-cozy. The bathroom has a wonderful deep soaking tub and a sunflower shower head (and GREAT water pressure! I was really surprised at that!!). Everything in our room-- even in the walk-in sized closet!--was absolutely spotless. All the linens, bed and bath, were of very high quality and for the first time in my life, I felt like there were enough towels (as well as lovely oversized terry bathrobes for each of us). But the breakfasts....well, the breakfasts are what will bring us back again next year (we are already planning another stay, a longer one next time). Jack and Diane outdo themselves every morning with a bottomless buffet of coffee, cereals, smoked salmon (my fave!), black forest ham, fresh tomatoes, breads/bagels/muffins, streusel cake, cheeses, hard- and soft-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and Diane's incomparable breakfast quiches. The buffet is served in their beautifully decorated dining room (also on the porch if weather permits) on lovely mix-and-match china. It is, in a word, sublime. By the time we had to leave for home, we didn't want to go. Diane and Jack made us feel like family, and made Bartlett House feel like a second home to us. We simply can't wait to return.

Quick disclaimer that this review is solely about the restaurant portion of Jedidiah Hawkins (and…read morenot the Inn). For those that are confused by this, you can totally stay at Jedediah Hawkins, but you're also entirely allowed to just have a fantastical dinner, like my wife and I did for her summer birthday a few months back. Well actually, there's reason we wanted to come here for a while and that was due to Jedediah also being able to host weddings. We looked into JHI as a venue, but in the end we realized it wasn't for us and instead got to check the place out for a special occasion (a la her birthday). The place feels like a little Victorian bed and breakfast when walking around on the grounds and once inside, the seating areas and ambiance emanates an older take to them, like dining in a historic house. It wasn't necessarily special, but lended itself well to the vibe. Wait staff was relatively on point and our waitress (as well as a few other employees) were very friendly. The menu prices were also friendly enough for this slightly pricier spot. Not a huge menu, but enough choices for the two of us to find several tasty meal options. We began with the truffle fingerling fries that had parmesan and chive on them with a side of crème fraiche. They were absolutely delicious. Crispy with a nice, soft potato interior. For the main meals, the wife got the 1/2 roasted chicken with lemon jus, cheddar grits, and broccolini (which was all superb) while I went with the mushroom and black truffle risotto (which was outstanding). Both dishes had flavors that really popped and from presentation to tastes, everything was spot on. Oh, and so was the crusty bread slices and spread given to start (almost forgot about that!). What I also can't forget to mention is a part of Jedediah that might not technically count as the restaurant: the speakeasy. It's nothing elaborate, but right near the entrance to the dining room is a slightly hidden gated off stairway which (if it's not reserved) can be entered in where you'll find a bar and a handful of tables and seats. This spot was something we really wanted to try to check out and luckily no one was using it the night we came. Our waitress even offered for us to have dessert down there (which was awesome) and one of the managers delivered everything down. What did we have as the final portion of our meal? Some beignets with cardamom sugar, ricotta, and strawberry sauce (which were definitely tasty, but didn't live up to Cafe Du Monde in NOLA) and some after dinner drinks of an Irish coffee with Jameson and a blackberry-based cocktail on the main menu that I decided to save for having with dessert. It was a sweet way to end a fantastic trip to Jedediah Hawkins. Overall, Jedediah Hawkins is a wonderful spot to have a meal. It might not necessarily be an everyday dining location as it has a specific old school vibe to it, but then again, if you can afford it, the menu, staff, and space comes together to warrant a trip almost any time as well as an easy five stars for this review. The rooms are spacious but not many places to relax and sit comfortably. There is more than enough room for a small table with at least two club chairs, a bench in front of the bed, maybe even a loveseat but instead it's just big open flooring with a king size bed and one chair- not really anywhere for more than one person to sit comfortably. There is a fridge which is always nice to have and the staff was pleasant and attentive. A free breakfast was included, they served egg sandwiches, yogurt, fruit and pastries but still not worth a price tag of almost $475+ a night. The website also makes it seem like the restaurant is open and available to guests but is was completely shut down, which was very disappointing. Again the staff was nice and attentive, the rooms were clean but considering how much we paid and how underwhelming the stay was I think 3 stars is actually a generous review.

It never feels too busy- in fact it felt kind of empty. Soooo many families with young kids- staff was so good to them! Rooms were comfortable, simple and adequate for what we needed. One of my favorite amenities were all of the bonfire pits. We had a blast making smores and sipping wine by the fire as the night cooled. We will definitely be back and would recommend to all but especially families.
