Lasik scheduling bummer. If anyone here tells you there's a compromise for lasik prep consisting of one month with contacts out every night (not my norm) followed by two weeks of no contacts, this is apparently false. Total bummer. Especially frustrating if you only have a 1 month window each year when you could've just done whatever they asked and gotten it done. Communication is key, I get that. They dropped the ball on this one. I even called to confirm and then spent 3 hours driving there for checkups (I do like them, but live very far) and they basically said, "huh?" when I got there. Guess I'll see someone next year about it :( Word of advice to the next person: just prepare for a month of glasses. Whatever this "compromise" is, it's not going to mean less time in glasses even if that's what they tell you. read more

Dr. McCarty has managed my bifocal, hard contact lens since the early 2000s. He had the patience and careful attention to detail that makes these difficult-to-fit lens a pleasure to wear. He has a very competent team to assist him. He's always aware of the newest technologies, recently he advocated a new type of computer-assisted reading glasses that I was completely unaware of. His associate, Wayne, has a vast selection of frames for your selection. His office has jut moved to a newly-constructed location, quite convenient. read more

Dr. McCarty has been my optometrist for 7 years and he really is excellent. He is constantly adding the most recent technology in eye care to his arsenal of tools to ensure the best experience possible for each patient. He is kind and takes the time to explain each thing that he does. He helped me to better understand my need for glasses, which no other doctor had done and I had been wearing glasses for 15 years. His office has iPads for patients to use while they are in the office, so that is also a plus. He got a few new techs this year, which are still learning, but they are kind as well. My only complaint is that the eyewear selection is a bit small and pricey. I still found what I was looking for though. I would recommend this eye care center to ANYONE!!! read more

Dr. McCarty and his office went above and beyond this weekend for our family! My son and husband went to Conroe for a sailboat race and on Saturday my son realized he had left his contacts at home. I contacted Dr. McCarty on his cell phone and he forwarded my emergency request to his staff -- Selina from his office, was nice enough to come in on Saturday (they are closed on Saturdays) and provide a Conroe Optometrist with my son's prescription and brand. By 11am my husband and son were out on the water sailing with my son in a fresh pair of contacts. AMAZING!!!! I love Cedar Park Eye Care! They are always so friendly and helpful! Dr. McCarty knows eyes, I first started going to him when I could not get my red, irritated eyes to clear up. My General Practitioner thought it was allergies and had prescribed allergy drops, but after getting no relief and actually getting worse, I went to Dr. McCarty and he diagnosed me with Severe Dry Eye and treated me for that. Within a few days my eyes were feeling much better and I was on the road to recovery. read more

This unassuming little office is chock-full of state of the art equipment and expertise. I have been nursed through pink eye, coached on fashionable glasses selections and educated on all manner of eye disease and prevention. They are prompt and the optometrist is easy on the eyes too (excuse the pun). Remember that annoying puff if air in your eye while you stared at a hot air balloon/field of flowers? Gone!! I have been a patient of Dr. McCarty's for over 4 years now. His staff are friendly and professional. His office and lobby/showroom are clean. These are not even the best things about his practice. Two highlights come to mind. First, just after I became his patient he guided me through the process to get LASIK, which is something I'd been considering for years, but never felt comfortable with until he made it all less ambiguous and gave me a referral to the best LASIK doctor in Austin. Second, every time I come in for an annual checkup, he takes TIME with me. He never rushes and always answers questions. In fact, he seems to LOVE showing patients pictures, diagrams and videos that help us understand our eyes. I found a number of frames that I loved and had to work to get it down to the one pair. The service was great, the staff worked hard to combine my insurance with another discount plan and were successful. I would return here for my annual glasses. It cost a bit more than I have spent in previous years, however it was a plus that I did not have to compromise on frames. read more

I have always been happy with Cedar Park Eye Care, for my husband and I, and probably our children later on! :) This week, however, I needed specialized and immediate care, and I got that! Dr. McCarty was quick to respond when I called afterhours Sunday night and got me in first thing Monday morning as well as Tuesday and Wednesday. I was very confident in him and his knowledge of my eye infection. I appreciate him using new technology and treatments. Dr. McCarty even called me Tuesday evening to check on me and to see how my eye was feeling after using the new treatment. I don't think a dr. has EVER called ME to check on me!
