The location is ideal. It is literally on a floating dock with 360 views of the lake. The food was good but I would say the scenery was the main attraction. Beautiful restaurant on the lake. BUT so many people were without masks and it really made me uncomfortable and actually pissed. That so many would put others at risk, it's absolutely ridiculous. And the tables are NOT 6 feet apart. At all. I had the shrimp skewers which I asked for lite butter and salt and they were excellent but still a bit salty. Broccolini cooked to perfection as well... Salad bar was really plentiful and they served you and it was really good. Try the huckleberry dressing!!! I had the guava margarita (shown) but super sweet so I had to send it back. Not good. Fun place to go for a new experience. Would definitely recommend getting there before 5 PM as they have a special menu that is much cheaper than the regular prices. Might be a good option on the first day of the trip for anyone traveling from the East. 4 PM feels like dinner time on that first day. Be ready for the rocking of the restaurant as it truly is like being on a big Pontoon boat but the food was really good. If you go during normal business hours, it can be a bit pricey. Upon arrival, our table was prepared appropriately for a birthday dinner, as it was decorated with ribbons and a "Happy Birthday" card. Off to a great start. The food was exceptional! Pan Seared Scallops, Shrimp Scampi, and two Sirloin Steaks. Everything was cooked very well. My only issue are the drinks. I ordered a Strawberry Daquri and it was very watery with no flavor. Went here for a birthday. The restaurant had only 4 tables. We ordered a filet & a filet with lobster. The steaks were ordered medium & medium well. The steaks came with salad bar which was good and safe with a server behind the glass. The real disappointment was the steaks both came out medium rare. After sending back, the steak that was medium well came back medium / medium rare again. After butterflying on my plate & sending back a SECOND time the steak was correct. To our surprise not a single thing was comped on our bill. For a restaurant with a slim menu focusing mostly on steak & the fact that there were only 4 tables, having to send a steak back twice was totally unacceptable & our waitress completely unaware. Went here recently for dinner while I was on company travel. The service was great and the place had a great local feel to it. Our waiter was very accommodating and was able to answer our questions about the food that we ended up ordering. I had the Biergarten steak and it was very flavorful. They have some kind of in-house marinade that they end up using that really gives it a nice zing. The restaurant did end up overcharging my credit card by $25 for some reason. I ended up finding out a few days later after I arrived home from the trip. I emailed a manager and they were very quick to apologize and fix the issue. Ate dinner here on August 13th . Jordan was our server at 7pm. It was me and my wifes 2 year anniversary and our server ruined dinner. -waitress never asked salad bar or clam chowder. -waitress was not seen again for 20 min till main food came out. - entire time was waiting to ask for a beer with an empty glass - when food came no cheese or bacon on potato as asked. - when food arrived I asked about my clam chowder and she went to get it. - asked for beer and A1. took 10 minutes to get both, food was cold. - had to ask for bread. was told it was in the oven. - recieved bread and clam chowder after we finished our main course. Who has a salad bar open in a pandemic. I'll get to that... Apparently the Cedars is unaware of the pandemic sweeping the world. I was absolutely appalled at the amount of diners crowded into the inside area and staff not properly wearing masks. If I did not have a seat outside I would have immediately left and not dined here. If you are brave enough to dine here, the food was decent which is the only reason this place gets 2 stars. Crab Cakes and Trout appetizers were really good, Chowder is tasty and my wife had scallops which were solid. Skip the steaks, mine was overcooked and luckily I had some Alaskan crab legs as a side. I think the most unbelievable thing was the salad bar is open, who keeps a buffet open in a pandemic. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Cedars. It was on a Monday night and we made a reservation in advance for indoor seating. When we got there, it took another 15 minutes to get seated, and that is only because they asked if we would like to opt for outdoor seating because we will get seated faster. If we had had our reservation be kept as expected, we would've had to wait longer for our seating. Overall, the food was so so. Definitely not what flavors we expected for the price we were paying. I ordered the fried chicken and it did not come with the corn pudding component, the chicken did not have any seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were rather bland. To be fair, my husband very much enjoyed his prime rib. The dessert was divine, we got the mud pie and I highly recommend that. We are Coeur d'Alene locals and we will unfortunately not be returning. I think there are fantastic restaurants in town that serve a wonderful meal for its price and unfortunately Cedars is not one of those places. read more

It truly pains me to leave this review. Every time I come to town we come here. As a former Spokane resident (quite some years ago) Cedars has always been a favorite. This time, not so much. We never received bread with our salad, whatever. But at the price point you are charging, your guests deserve fresh cut green lettuce, not browning, mostly yellow, processed lettuce straight from the bag. When your employees are restocking, they are pouring new product right on top of the old. So how old is the stuff on the bottom? No one will ever know. You are asking to get someone sick. The salad bar used to be one of the nicest around. It is mediocre at best now. You are cutting corners and it shows. Crab legs were not on the menu. Another cutback? Extremely disappointing. At this rate your restaurant will soon be an over rated Sizzler. Please get it together, or just make it a casual dining experience with prices that reflect the quality you are serving. Went here while on vacation, visiting my gramz, and was pleased. I was nervous because it is on the water and I get motion sickness, sure enough I did when I sat down. I had to get up and go outside prior to our food arriving, and actually switched seats with my friend so the water wasn't in my field of vision. The ambiance and view is unbeatable. The food was good and I loved the beer sampler! I tried 4 different specialty beers and picked the Tangerine Wheat for my full size. I chose the salad bar (nothing special there) and Salmon (cooked and served on a cedar plank-YUM). The salmon came with wild rice and veggies. My gramz got a complimentary scoop of Huckelberry Ice Cream (the area is known for Huckelberry-everything) because it was her birthday. I tried it and it was delicious! My gramz asked the waitres if the seafood is caught from the lake or if they serve anything from the lake, she said, "No, it's shipped in." I read, on the back of the menu, that the restaurant changed management a few times between private individuals and then was sold to a corporation. That being said, the location is amazing and they are not hurting for customers. It was packed. And it's reasonably priced. I had high hopes for this place and was very excited to try it, but unfortunately I would not come back. I do realize with covid they are trying their best and menus are limited, but many things are not listed which led us to have to ask our server, and she was not very helpful and seemed rather annoyed. We looked up the menu previously as I am pescatarian and we did see something about a salad bar, however there was nothing on the menu when we got there to let us know if it only came with entrees or if we could purchase separately with another item and if so what the price was. Our server informed us she was not sure and went to ask someone. From that point she was very stand offish to us, even walked right by us ignoring us when we would try to get her attention. She did not check on us and often forgot things so we would have to ask more than we would have liked. We were both under the impression that she was giving others better service because she assumed we would not tip well. Other tables were much older couples, and it did not seem people our age frequent this place often. We did come here looking for a nice place to have a nice dinner and were not expecting it be cheap, we always tip generously and to be given lesser service than others around you when you are paying the same amount of money is upsetting. The service alone was enough to ruin our night. The food was good, but I wouldn't say it's better or worst than other steakhouses. The view was the main reason why we went, and that was enjoyable. First time eating at Cedars. My wife and I wanted something special to celebrate our 10th anniversary. A few local friends have recommended Cedars in the recent past. We decided this would be a perfect opportunity. We made a reservation for 6PM on today (a Saturday). We hoped to have a wonderful view of the mountains, but who would have predicted fires in the area would shoot that hope down. Either way, we arrived 30 mins early. We were seated 10 mins later as they had a table ready. Many people have complained about the decor on other reviews, but I rather enjoyed the woodsy/nautical theme the really represents the area well. The host and servers were welcoming. The atmosphere was alive. I have no complaints about seating as they are not strict about covid policies. It was just nice to feel normal again. We didn't have appetizers. We did have wines that paired well with our meals. I had the clam chowder to start. It was fantastic! Creamy, rich, smooth and silky. A taste of clam in every bite and seasoned to perfection. My wife had the salad bar, which they served. She was not disappointed. She loved the fresh tasting red beets. She ordered the Sirloin Steak and said it was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I had the Seafood Risotto. This is the kind of food I love, interactive food. With 3 crab legs that you have to shell yourself, some clams in the shell, leaving the wonderful flavors of the sea right at your hands. The rice and seafood were perfectly cooked. This dish was creamy and full of flavor. It did not disappoint. For dessert, we shared a creme brulee. Best we've ever had! Rich and buttery with a little dark brulee flavor and a side of the best homemade whipped cream. Who knew heaven could be served in such a small dish. This place does not disappoint. We were visitors to Idaho for a large family wedding. Wanted a nice place to have dinner and found Cedars Floating Restaurant online. We (party of 4) arrived around 7:30 on a Thursday night. The hostess directed us to a table in the middle of a half empty dining room. When I requested one of the seven empty window tables, she informed us very rudely that they saved those for people with reservations. So we sat down and ordered our dinner. During our entire meal the tables sat empty. I decided we didn't want to stay long so we finished and left. Normally we would have taken our time, puchaed a bottle of wine and appetizers and then dinner. But we had decided we didn't want to support this business further. The food and our server were good. But I'm not a fan of restaurants that treat new customers like that, so we won't visit this place again. read more

Similar to the reviews of others this place is certainly a nice place to go when your a tourist and unfamiliar with the area but not your 5 star dining experience. Being from LA I may have become a bit more critical when it comes to dining but this must be what passes in Idaho. I would say Cedars is like a cross between Black Angus and Sizzler because of the salad bar. Both my husband and I ordered the cedar plank salmon, he got it blackened and I got it with a garlic butter style. It was ok, no different than any other salmon I have had before. Most of the stars are for the surroundings on the lake with the twinkle lights - beautiful at sunset. Yes.... It is dated. Yes, it's not chic or modern or cool. But... It's a floating restaurant with great staff and good food and the slight lake rise and fall if eating on the patio. All the food was tasty. Fish and chips. Not greasy or heavy. Prime rib done perfectly. Steam clans in a wonderful garlic butter broth. Crispy salad and fresh moist halibut. No rush eating. CdA's iconic waterfront restaurant was a lovely setting for our dinner this evening. You can't get more waterfront than actually being ON the water here at this floating restaurant. We planned ahead and got an early dinner reservation so as to ensure we'd get a prime window table and still have enough light out to enjoy the lake before the sun set. I'm glad we did as it got quite busy shortly after our 3:15PM reservation. Service was great and our waiter Daniel was attentive and personable. Our waters were never empty and despite it being busy, we never felt rushed. Two of my fellow diners had center cut steaks, while one had a salmon Oscar special. I had the sirloin & scampi. Our steaks were cooked as specified, and we were all pleased. We really enjoyed their famous salad bar. While it wasn't anything special, everything was tidy and fresh. Two of my fellow diners had clam chowder and it was also tasty. We also shared a shrimp cocktail appetizer. The shrimp weren't anything special as some other upscale restaurants have larger, more succulent shrimp for the same price. But they were presented nicely and the cocktail sauce has the perfect amount of zip of horseradish in it for my taste. The view from this restaurant is wonderful. The salad bar, prime rib, scallops and service were all very good to excellent. I requested medium rare prime rib and received just that. It pretty much melts in your mouth. I wasn't overly impressed with the bearnaise sauce with the "Oscar style" (crab in bearnaise sauce) as it was thin and had a strange flavor. I was glad it was presented in a small cast iron skillet on the side as I think it would've taken away from the beef if it'd been on top of it. But other than the sauce, the food was quite solid. Although it is on the water, this is the only really special quality as far as ambiance, but it isn't necessarily billing itself any other way, so that's fair. If you'd like a very good meal, good service and beautiful lake view, this is your place. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could. I'd definitely go back. read more

Beautiful views, attentive staff, great wine selection but a totally dated restaurant with mediocre food. The restaurant looks like something from the 1970's and not in the "hip retro" type but in a "this restaurant looks dirty and worn" type of way. The views are some of the best and they have installed heaters on the patio so you can sit out there during the colder months / nights. I had the pan-seared scallops and they are "dry packed" which means they are not injected with preservatives upon harvesting. This also means though the scallops are a lot saltier and they paired the scallops with a sodium rich bacon underneath and very salty mashed potatoes and my mouth burned!!! read more
