My husband and I tried The China House restaurant last night. Not only the best Chinese food but also the friendliest service. My husband had the sweet/sour pork and the tenderest Mongolian beef combo. I had a very yummy sweet/sour shrimp and cashew chicken combo. Update 5.5.26: Today I was feeling like some chow mein and since I've been here once before, I wanted to give the chow mein a shot. I went with the small chow mein with shrimp. My roommate ordered the orange chicken with some heat. For apps, my roommate got a side of 1 egg roll and a cup of egg drop soup. My shrimp chow mein was tasty! They use a skinnier noodle than I'm used to and I liked it. For being a small, it was worth the value imo and it had 6 or 7 decent sized shrimp too. I will get this again! read more

This was always my go-to place for Chinese food. I would visit once, maybe twice, a year when in town. I don't know what happened but I think it is crap now. Did it get bought by some white people? Flavorless Chinese hospital food is the best description I can think of. Hot and sour soup only now sour. Kung (or Kong as is their description) Pao chicken in now chicken in a mild sauce. I've never had a crab Rangoon actually filled with crab, it's usually just cream cheese that has a whisper of crab flavor. The ones here have actual crab and are next level. Mongolian beef, fried rice and hot drop soup are also some of the best I've had from across the country. My husband and I decided to try Chinatown Restaurant because I had been craving Chinese food for a while. We moved from the Bay Area in California where Chinese food restaurants were abundant. I noticed that the reviews on Yelp were pretty good. The decor and atmosphere are pleasant and our waitress was nice and efficient. I have to say the food was excellent and the portions were large. We both ate plenty at the restaurant and took home enough for another meal the next day. My husband ordered the broccoli beef combo and he said the broccoli was tender and the flavor was excellent. I ordered the chicken combo with rice noodle chow mein. On the menu, it shows the chicken to be spicy but I asked that there be no spice and that was no problem. I loved all of it. I also ordered bubble tea and enjoyed it as well. We will definitely be back, probably sooner rather than later. read more

I live in a city that's highly populated by Chinese immigrants and American born Chinese folks like myself. There's plenty of authentic Chinese food where I live. When I say authentic, I mean like legit dishes you would find in Mainland China. However besides Panda Express, I always wanted to check out what American Chinese food taste like in a small town or city that barely has any ethnic populations. I was traveling from Missoula to Spokane and found Chinatown Restaurant when I made a pit stop in Coeur d'Alene. The workers at the restaurants were welcoming, friendly, and attentive which is a plus. They had a lunch special which is quite affordable. For around $10 you can get an entree that comes with fried rice or noodles and soup. I got the General Tsao chicken, and it was pretty good for Americanized Chinese food. My partner got Moo Goo Gai Pan, which is something you would not see on the menu at an Americanized Chinese restaurnat where I live. It was a rather interesting dish with chicken and veggies topped with gravy. It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't terrible. Overall, I'd go again because the place is clean, good service and good lunch special. read more

All our lunches were amazing and hot. They're sweet and sour sauce is amazing. I had the sesame chicken. It was very good. My brother had a stir fry with mixed vegetables he loved it my nephew had sweet and sour shrimp he loved that. We moved here from Northern California and this is by far the BEST CHINESE FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!! We ordered orange chicken, chow mein, potstickers and dim sum! We were here years ago with younger kids, and I really liked it. This was just a couples trip, and the big meal of the day at a late lunch time. The food is great! But what I remember from out last visit, and this one, was the nicest bunch of ladies running the dining area. Our waitress in particular was funny, and nicely jousted with my guy, who may have had a can or two before we got there. The Mrs. and I were in the mood for Chinese, so we looked around for a restaurant and found the Chinatown. I can remember it being a different restaurant decades ago, but I can't remember which one was in the building. We stopped in during a busy time. The staff got us a table quickly, but we were told that the kitchen was slammed and they gave us an approximate time that it would take for us to get our food after we ordered. Both of us got dinner combo specials, and we had an order of potstickers as an appetizer. The potstickers were good. The combos were good as well, but both my wife and I had ordered spicy dishes. I got the General Tso's Chicken and the wife got Mongolian Beef. The flavors were good, but the spice was lacking. This is "North Idaho Spicy", not Chinese spicy. Just something to keep in mind when you order from there. I suppose if we really wanted it hot we should have specified that we wanted it HOT. The place it self was clean and neat, even in the middle of the dinner rush. Staff was friendly. The food actually got to us sooner than promised, so that was a bonus. This was our first time trying g it out, I loved the hot and spicy soup I think that's what it was and I'm not a big fan of mushrooms but they tasted good in the soup and it had a kick but not super hot spicy and it was pretty good. #6 i got teriyaki chicken, sweet & sour chicken and fried rice and I loved it all. The teriyaki chicken tasted pretty ace as it tasted like they purposely slightly burned the sauce to give it a burnt end taste oh man that tasted good and the sweet n sour chicken I think was very good and sauce tasted similar to apple pie and nothing was overcooked or anything and the Staff was very friendly. my hubby used to Love the Almond chicken. I like any dish that's made with chicken breast as I don't care for dark meat. SO the last 4 times there I tested their chicken breast meat. I believe now it's not even chicken. It has a very strange texture. I use to love our lunches out when we came to town, and I could order any chicken meal and request make with "chicken breast" with no up charge. But now I'm sure it something weird and not even any kind of "chicken." The meat itself is not even close to chicken texture. read more

Egg drop soup was bland and discolored. Hot and sour soup wasn't spicy, both soups seemed almost like gelatin as if they were taken out of the freezer and microwaved. Chicken was ordered 4/4 on spice level and had no spice at all. Steamed rice wasn't cooked long enough and fried rice tasted dry and disgusting. First time having bad fried rice. Sweet and sour chicken tasted frozen (the consistency was not normal) and teriyaki chicken was very tough and tasted old. Our waitress didn't check on us at all. We had to wait until she assumed we wanted boxes to be able to say anything. My first time ever complaining in a restaurant- and I wasn't the only one to do so.
