Every single thing went well at this restaurant. Their staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. I rarely dine out because I have celiac disease and cross contamination in restaurants. Send me to bed for about a week. Server was very understanding and very kind went back and asked the chef questions came out and assured me they would take special care and they did they treated me like a queen. I had sent in a review over a week ago and received an automated response asking me to send in my contact information. I did as asked and heard nothing but crickets. Cedars may have a good view and cocktails but the food is sub-par at best. The salad bar is one of the worst. Restocking new product on top of older product. Nasty! Maybe when restocking the salad bar properly rotate the items so someone isn't eating expired products. If you do end up eating here and having a bad experience don't expect to get a proper response. Recommend eating at the Satay Bistro. Food has always been spot on and they don't have a salad bar from the 80s. read more

I was out of town and looking for a good place for salmon. This place was recommended. Not only is the place surrounded with beautiful views, the food was outstanding. I ordered the cedar-plank salmon entree. All the entrees come with either a clam chowder soup or the salad bar. I chose the salad bar. This salad bar was very good and had all the necessary fixings to make a delicious salad. As far as my entree, the salmon was perfect. A little crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The sauce that came with it, added a delicious touch. It came with asparagus and garlic potatoes. I don't think I've ever tasted better garlic potatoes. They also had a perfect crisp to them. Our waiter was efficient. The price for the salmon was very fair at around $33.00. My dinner-mate, ordered the prime rib entree, and he loved it. If this place was in my area, I would want to go here for my birthday! Loved it so much. read more

What an amazing experience at the Cedars floating bar, sat on the patio enjoying a Martini as the sunset. We ordered the fried asparagus and it was delicious! Lightly fried, not too battered, and the ranch was delicious. We split the prime rib medium rare with a baked potato and it was absolutely delicious! We are vegetarians so we ordered the tempura asparagus for an appetizer and had the salad bar and baked potatoes for our entrée. It was good. I am giving 4 Stars because the service was superb! Otherwise, would have given 3 stars for the fantastic scallops. TL/DR: Food expensive for the quality. All employees are fantastic. Ambiance is nice. The other day a couple friends and I tried Cedars Floating Restaurant in Coeur d'Alene. We stayed at the CDA Resort and were able to take a free shuttle to the restaurant, which was a nice option. Our reservation was for 8 PM and we were sat shortly before 8. We opted to sit on the covered patio, to fully enjoy the ambiance and the river the restaurant floats on. You may think it floats on the lake, but it's more on the river than the lake. Either way, it's still floating. When seated, they hand you an iPad for your menu, which was a neat feature. One friend ordered their clams ($16) with the salad bar ($16.95). She stated the clams were good but she should've just got a side salad. The salad bar was included in the entrees, just not the appetizer menu. Another friend the ordered Peppercorn New York Steak with a Shrimp Scampi Skewer (12 ounce pan seared, peppercorn coated New York steak. Mashed potatoes, Broccolini and garlic butter scampi. Served on the side Peppercorn sauce). It was served with green beans and not broccolini and a she also chose a baked potato, which wasn't cooked well. All-in-all she said the steak had great flavor, the peppercorn gravy was tasty, but the steak quality wasn't what she would have expected for $46. I am a sucker for scallops and almost always order them if found on the menu. This one was served with bacon, which made it a must try! The menu description: Gorgonzola cream sauce with mashed potatoes and applewood smoked bacon. Served with seasonal vegetables. This dish was $38 and the seasonal vegetable was also green beans. The scallops were cooked well, no grit, very tasty. The bacon was also a great accompaniment. I had a bite of the potatoes, which were pretty dry. Their salad bar was nothing to proclaim as a "Premier 14.5 Foot Salad Bar." The veggies were fresh, but definitely no longer a premier salad bar. The ambiance is probably what you pay for, but all of their employees made you feel important and were so happy to assist with anything. We may try it again, but just for appetizers. read more

Made our first visit here for restaurant week and was surprised at home much we liked it. New York steak was incredibly tender, and the seafood ravioli was also excellent. After trying some of the other resort restaurants and being reluctant from those experiences to go back to Cedars, we had a gift card and went. We couldn't have been more pleased. It is expensive but Sonia everything these days. I just want a great meal when I shell out the bucks! The prime rib is tender with a good horsy sauce, tender asparagus and mashed potatoes (which were ok but a little dry). Salmon was delicious and not fishy. Everything was cooked just as we asked. My family ate dinner here tonight. We had a reservation and they told us over the phone that we could not be late so we rushed to arrive there exactly on time and then wound up waiting half an hour for a table. I had to ask for an update twice because they never checked in and when I asked to look at a menu while I was waiting, they didn't have any available. When they finally seated us, they gave us a table in the back of the patio, despite telling us over the phone about getting a table with "great view". I had the salmon which was pretty good, although a bit overcooked, and my daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers and salad bar. However, my husband ordered the sirloin steak, and it was extremely overcooked, 100% grey. He sent it back and his food didn't come out again until well after myself, and my daughter finished our meals. So he had to eat alone. Despite all these hiccups, we were never given an apology or offered anything as an apology. This restaurant is not cheap and this was a very disappointing meal. I would skip this restaurant if you're in the area. The view is not worth the meal. read more

What an interesting restaurant! The idea of a floating restaurant drew me to dine here. Slight regret coming here because ID's COVID policy is awful- masks are not required so customers don't need to wear one coming in and going to restroom and people are seated close together. Luckily, we were seated a bit away from others and the staff still wear their masks. The view was cloudy but still got to see the water. We got in just in time for their early dinner which is a steal. Early dinner meals are $23 including a salad or soup, and I ordered a salmon which is usually $27(?) without a salad or soup. They're known for their salad bar, which I don't really understand why? It's a pretty typical salad bar with typical selection? The salmon was delicious, you really go the cedar wood flavor and the honey sauce on the side added a touch of sweetness. You don't need a whole lot, especially when you don't like sweet thing on savory meals. The crab cakes were okay. I think I just don't like crab but the folks I was with said they're really good and other crab cakes later on won't be able to compare. read more

We haven't been here for probably 15 years but it's as good as ever. We had reservations and were seated within 5 minutes and given menus on iPads that included Restaurant Week specials and drink specials. Three of us ordered the Prix Fixe meal ($45]- Lobster bisque, smoked salmon crostini to start. Salmon on a plank with fresh veggies, or a New York steak with fresh veggies, or a blackened shrimp pasta dish. I had the baseball steak (thick center cut sirloin). The baseball steak wasn't a Restaurant Week special so it came with a trip through the salad bar, a fluffy baked potato and veggies. Many reviews mention their amazing salad bar. Full and fresh, yes but really not as bountiful as I expected. The drink specials were good. Bloody Mary, Huckleberry vodka lemonade, wine and draft beers. Each person who ordered the Restaurant Week specials also had dessert. Crème Brûlée, chocolate Sundae, and one I can't remember. And, BTW you do need to request the bread. We were able to be seated for the early bird special, even though we had made reservations for later that evening. The early bird menu gave several options, all delicious. Best prime rib ever... hands down. It melts in your mouth and I'm literally salivating just thinking about it. We went there for our anniversary and the table was set up all nice with rose pedals. The server gave us a huckleberry ice cream dessert and it was one of the best huckleberry ice creams I've had. So creamy, so much goodness. The baked potato was baked to perfection and the prime rib dinner comes with a trip to the salad bar. The prime rib actually wasn't on the menu so we had to request it. They say they sometimes don't put it on the menu because it runs out so quickly. My husband and I actually split the prime rib and the meal was more than enough between the two of us. Went here for my birthday dinner with the hubby and was so glad we did. The concept of a floating restaurant is pretty cool to begin with and then to be able to go at sunset on one of the prettiest lakes in the world! Our table was right next to the window with a subtle "Happy Birthday" sign on the table with a few ribbons, nothing crazy. View was spectacular! We both wanted the scallops and the were wonderful!! Wow! This was THE BEST food I've had in recent memory. I ordered the fried chicken with maple honey chipotle sauce, mashed potatoes and jalepeño cornbread. And then my son and I chased our food down by sharing the Mile High Mud Pie. For those with children, the kids menu made my 13 year old very happy. In his words: "A lot of nicer restaurants get too fancy with the chicken tenders, but these are plain and simple and that's all I want." I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time we've lived here for years and I've never had the chance. We finally made reservation during restaurant week or once we got there we were seated within five minutes. They had restaurant week menu's as well as their regular menus on the table. Our server came to us took our drink orders. Then we didn't see her for another 15 minutes we finally placed our dinner order still no drinks or bread. My appetizer I ordered was crabcakes it arrived fully burnt at those bottoms. I let the server know. She sent it back in the kitchen made me another one. My husband ordered a Sirloin medium and it came out well done. I ordered the cedar salmon because I've heard good things about it and I was very excited to try it once it came out it was super super bland no flavor at all honestly it was tiny portion and I didn't even finish it because it was nasty. And I never do this because I always order salmon at most of the restaurants so that should be saying some thing. Also it took 45 minutes for someone to bring us bread to our table with extremely hard butter that was not spreadable you literally had to bite us or cut it. Also I did notice that the server kept avoiding our table I didn't say anything but it was awkward she kept going to the older crowd which was the majority of the restaurant. I still left 20% tip. The only reason I'm giving it to stars is because they have a phenomenal wine list and I've had two glasses it was amazing. Super disappointed in this please I was looking forward to it I've heard many good things over the years. Workers near the salad bar were swearing and knew you could hear them. Lack of options food wise was also a huge disappointment.
