Went to this restaurant because of reviews and location. It's our last day of vacation and we wanted a special dinner, we found it. It's a floating restaurant on the lake. Atmosphere was warm and rustic. Very busy but comfortable atmosphere. They had a great salad bar that was very fresh and also all you can eat. We ordered Prime Rib. It was cooked perfect. They have 3 sizes to choose from. We split a 14oz. For 4 roars more they will give second plat full side dishes, in our case a baked potato and Broccoli. You know it's a good meal when no one talks. We were just taking in the sunset and a delicious meal. We fell in love with the Cedars and hope to come every time we're in area. Prices were good but become exceptional if you order a large cut and split. Very good and a must visit if your passing through. Our waiter a true gentleman and very attentive. read more

This was our first time. The Prime Rib had no flavor. Small portion for the price $$$$ and fatty. The Blue Cheese dressing was watery and not chunky with flavor. Very disappointing. We had a perfect meal at Cedars ! At 4:30pm we arrived for early bird special ! $28.95 for prime rib , $22.95 for other options . Salad bar with it was 10/10 ! Everything on salad bar fresh ! Middle of the road food. It pains me not to have had a 5 star experience here, I feel like we just paid for the beautiful view, and it is beautiful. The "special" Filet- was nothing special. ZERO flavor and I ordered it Medium rare and it was Medium and closer to well done, no pink. I had to dip it in my moms prime rib au jus sauce. They are known for the prime rib and I will say out of all the food that's the only plate worth the visit. My husband ordered the fried chicken and it was terrible. The jalapeño cornbread muffin was dry and dense, the fried chicken although plated beautifully had zero flavor just bland. I'm giving 3 stars for the view, the martini, the complimentary huckleberry ice cream for my mom as tonight was her birthday dinner and the salad bar. It was not at all worth the $190 I walked out spending. Texas Roadhouse takes the cake compared to here. read more

I had received a gift certificate from my boss a few years back and had nearly forgotten I had it. Our anniversary sermed to be a fitting time to utilize it since we rarely go to expensive restaurants. I was hoping for a much better experience and food quality. I don't typically care to review places I'll never return to but when spending this kind of money on a meal, I feel obligated. The reservation system was quite advanced but a tad cumbersome to do online. If I'm out and about or driving, I'd like to be able to just phone in. If you are at all the type of person who gets car sick, think twice. It IS a floating (and rolling) restaurant. It helps that every seat has a view of the surrounding mountains to ease the motion. The ambiance was OK internally, nothing to write home about. A nice touch was the Happy Anniversary card and rose petals at the table. They get a lot of special occasions and it was obvious the cards get recycled often. The server was attentive enough but seemed rushed to get you the bill. The people whom refilled our water was on it, almost annoyingly. The table was also covered in water but not due to spillage but rather sweating glasses and the polyester napkins did little to sop it up. A simple coaster would help alleviate that. The buss staff was less than professional, carrying several dirty dishes from table to table collecting, and literally dumping my partners fork back on the table for reuse. We even had to return silverware, a bread plate, and a chipped glass back (and we aren't the type to be picky about water spots, this was food). It was quite nice to be able to assemble your own salad from the salad bar where I found it all quite fresh, but we were also the first seating/reservation of the day. The drinks were fairly weak. The meal wasn't plated spectacularly (I forgot to take a pic of the main course) and the temperature of the food cooled rather quickly leaving cold clumpy mashed potatoes and barely warm New York steak. My partner did say his lobster tail was cooked perfectly although! A nice touch again was the complementary huckleberry ice cream taster for our anniversary. The portions were adequate enough, but I do not feel worth the price as I could have spent as much at a lesser touted restaurant and feel I would receive more value, quality, and pleasurable dining experience. read more

Two of us went there tonight drinks were excellent however the food took 40 mins after ordered. I ordered the seafood risotto my lady had the prime rib, my risotto was room temperature so sent back, new plate (looked like my original plate that I sent back as the side I had tasted prior still looked distributed) arrived 8-10 later that was also room temp. Upon arriving we were warned the kitchen was new so they were way behind despite not being busy. I won't be back, expected much much better. Update - Per Cedars request I provided my cell as they said they wished to speak about my poor experience, I quickly received a note stating they got it and would call to discuss. Since that time no one at Cedars was courteous enough to follow up. Yet another failure of quality customer service on their part. read more

Cedars is a lovely older restaurant floating just off the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Located at the end of a long service road near boat storage, you cross a short bridge & walk into a cute nautical-themed lobby. We were warmly greeted & seated quickly at a table overlooking the water (aren't reservations handy?). The pomegranate martini & sparkling wine were greatly enjoyed & felt very celebratory (as being at a restaurant, seated inside, will do right now!). To continue our girl's night, we split the pear & goat cheese flatbread - the goat cheese was plentiful, the bread the perfect soft center/crispy edge & a hint of sweet pear was a flavorful mix. This was followed by the clam chowder & a salad (which is created for you at the salad bar), then the seafood risotto & seared scallops with bacon. Everything was flavorful, well balanced and beautifully presented. As if our pants weren't tight enough, we also split a slice of key lime pie (a little too much vanilla in the whipped topping for me). The chocolate martini was also an excellent finish to the meal. Overall we greatly enjoyed our dinner there. Our server was friendly & made some great menu suggestions. I do wish, however, that our water glasses would have been refilled more than just once & that our second round of drinks didn't take 20-25 minutes to arrive. I made a reservation with for my fathers 70th birthday. I confirmed that the restaurant was service dog friendly. They said they were friendly to all dogs service dog or not. When I arrived I was instantly greeted with hostility from the white male behind me about bringing my dog into the restaurant. I informed him that he was a service dog. He then, loudly, DEMANDED in front of everyone in the lobby that I tell him what my disability was. I informed the two girls at the desk that I was feeling harassed and asked for help. They did nothing but look at me with sympathy in their eyes. The man continued making loud demands that I disclose my disability to him, a complete stranger. . I again told the girls that I was feeling harassed and asked then to remove him from my presence. Again. They did nothing. Finally, I told the man to shut up and f$?k off. As I was seated, we were immediately removed by the white denial manager because I used the "F" word. So not only was I was harassed for being disabled, but my freedom of speech and right to protect myself were also violated by this establishment. In short, the white man and his party were seated. I, the single female with a disability was escorted humiliatingly off the property with her elderly parents and service dog. Yet their website claims to support people with disabilities. Had our 50th anniversary dinner here. Had a table on the patio right on the water. Perfect setting. Had the prime rib rare with baked potato and beans. Warm bread and butter were served also. Others had steak and lobster cooked perfect. Had the salad bar which is the way to go. Also had clam chowder but it was not hot and not that good. This is a great restaurant with good service. For the most part there food is very consistent and good. We've been in 6 times and 5 has has been fantastic. Having one time where food was just okay. So after 5 times is acceptable to me. Restaurants are hard to run, and I get that. The restaurant is very nice with an eclectic type of crowd. Sometimes the Spokane losers get on my nerves but the restaurant is large enough to mainly ignore their childish outbursts. Salad bar is really good, not as great as dockside, but this is still top notch. Never once had bad or even questionable service, and the prime rib is something special here. This is a hard to get into restaurant so plan ahead. It's worth it. read more

Wow! We almost didn't go here since yelp had the rating at 3.5 stars, but some locals recommended it so we gave it a shot. Excellent place! Location is beautiful, we had an excellent waitress and the food was amazing. We had the coconut prawns, grilled ribeye and salmon. The salad bar filled us up too quickly so we left in wheelbarrows since we were over stuffed! We will be back while we are here visiting from Texas. read more

I don't know why this place isn't getting better reviews? The salad bar was simple but everything was high quality and fresh and the dressings were clearly made in house. I ordered the Peppercorn Strip and shrimp skewer and it was great. My husband's prime rib was perfectly cooked to the expected medium rare. Our service was outstanding and we were never waiting for anything. The ambience is exceptional. Highly recommend. Even without the curve for floating--great dinner! Don't come here is you get sea sick as this place definitely rocks like a boat. We loved it as we felt like we were on a boat cruising the river. I had the Huckle-tini drink which was nice. Not too sweet. Parking is easy and there is plenty of room. They have a nice 18' salad bar. The outside is heated in the colder months with a nice glass enclosure if too cold. We had an amazing meal this past weekend. Our server was very attentive, had great meal suggestions and was friendly. Our meal was served in a timely manner. We had a nice table by the window with a great view. Perfect sunset. They have a very nice wine list with reasonable prices. We started with the tempura asparagus with honey balsamic - All I can say is Yum! We loved the salad bar, We watched them replenish items frequently so everything was fresh! We both had the prime rib and it was tender and cooked as we asked. It came with a perfectly cooked baked potato and steam green beans. The salad bar was filled with canned veggies. The chicken had been defrosted too long in the microwave giving it a rubbery texture and the linguine were over cooked. We were visiting Coeur d'Alene, ID and we were told to try Cedars Floating Restaurant. We made reservations and on our way our driver advised us to refrain from filling up on the salad bar, which was hard to do. We arrived on time and had a wait of about 20 minutes, probably due to our request for a window table. After being seated we were quickly served water and asked about drinks. We opted for a bottle of Justin Cab, which was not heavily marked up. I had the New York and Shrimp with mashed potatoes and the wife had the Seafood Risotto, and both dishes were very good. This place is known for their Prim Rib, which I should have chosen, but went with the advice of our server, not to say I wasn't happy, but the Prime Rib looked good also, so I guess next time. The place was floating on the water and the ambiance was nice, so if you are in the area and looking for a Steak House give this place a try, but don't over due the salad bar unless you share the main dish which would have been a smart move on our part, but sometimes it's hard to share. There were also many gluten free options, since it's mainly seafood and steak. Sorry for the lack of photos on this post, but we got to drinking and well you know what happens after that, not to mention our server was over talking with us quite a bit which was nice. read more

Two nights in a row. First was for drinks, clams, and dessert , second for an entire meal. I had the 7 oz filet rare. It was delicious. My son is a vegetarian. Let me start with the salad bar... not impressed While visiting the area EVERYONE talked about the salad bar... So we had to try it again NOT impressed. The service was slow but friendly. We both got the chicken and waffles... ok. The waterside dining was probably the best part.
