Very unprofessional. Stated he could give estimate over phone. I provided him with size of ceiling needed to be done and he stated he would call me back in an hour. Stated he just got out of hospital and is not feeling good. 2 days later I receive a phone call stating he needs to do inspection in person and is unable to do over phone. I stated that was fine and asked what time and date he was available. He provided me time and date which I agreed upon and provided him with address. 3 days later is inspection day I received a phone call from realtor stating Boyd is not there and is 20 min late. I decided to call Boyd who was surprised he had an appointment today and stated he could give me estimate over phone and was still waiting for me to call him back with dimensions of ceiling. I emailed Danny Boyd of Ceiling Specialist a few photos showing water damage in my condo bathroom ceiling due to a leak from an upstairs neighbor. I received a quick response & quote from Danny. I had previously emailed 2 other companies that I found on Yelp, one whose price seemed too low (you get what you pay for), and another who was noticeably high. Danny's price was right in the middle, and his courteous response (not some one-liner email) was just enough to seal the deal. Fast forward to today, Barry showed up at my door right at 9AM, surveyed the damage, and got right to work. Great prep work throughout the house, including plastic floor covering from the front door, across the hardwood flooring, and all throughout to the bathroom for him to walk on. Barry then cut out the damaged ceiling, checked for mold (there wasn't any), and started his patch work. He was at my home for a few hours, and was all business. We hired this company based on yelp reviews alone. My husband handled the back and forth phone calls and coordinating with Danny. In the end, we decided to have our ceilings scraped and we would do our own ceiling painting to save some money. What we didn't know is that also can entail the customer having to clean up after messy work. We wish we would have at least been told that. A two day job turned into that plus 2 follow up visits. The guys that did the work seemed to have caulked the ceilings in a squiggly line fashion, not at all uniform throughout each room. They also left globs of caulk on a few different walls. Our wood floors had the ceiling material all in the cracks and crevices and the coffee table had crap all over it. There was white stuff all over the counter near the sink and on the patio furniture outside. After they came back to recaulk, I found globs of it on top of the comforter, end table and bed frame. Today we discovered staples at the top of the wall. Assuming they stapled the plastic to the walls they actually covered, clever. Sloppy, really, and could totally have been cleaned / touched up by the guys at the end of the day, then there would not have been an issue. So prepare to clean up after the jobs done! When we finally heard back from them, we had already hired someone else to do a portion of our job (popcorn removal).
