Cele Store is set in a terrific location on the outskirts of Austin. Though, Austin has grown exponentially over the years, you still feel like you're escaping the masses when you head out to Manor for some BBQ at Cele. Amazing BBQ, atmosphere is historic and quaint. Recommend with 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Amazing food. Found this place by accident and will definitely be back! I took my food to go so i didn't take any pics of it. But I did take photos of the interior.

Just a brisket and sausage plate yummy!!

I felt at home, when you get served but he owner and encouraged to discuss whatever's on the brian....laugh a little, watch the basketball game and talk about the good old days. Really a monumental experience.

This was a set for the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. [ Down in Bastrop, the original 1974 Gas Station was not available. Also, the original 1974 Round Rock house was moved in 1998 to Kingsland, TX, now an American eatery "Grand Central Cafe" ] Besides TCM 2003, the Cele Store has been used by Clint Eastwood & a few others for movie scenes. Now It is a Thurs thru Sat pit bbq eatery / bar with live country music as scheduled. No sides, I would guess they are building this up incrementally without extra staff for now. I came down here not knowing their limited schedule...So... I found my way over to Bastrop, the original Gas Station from 1974 TCM is rocking as "We Slaughter BBQ" and it is actually quite good, but a bit small menu but good at what they do. You can get regular, or No Excuses Spicy. And, plenty of TCM merchandise on hand. There are rental bungalows too. ( sorry for rant, just clarifying TCM places )

This one's gonna have a special place in our hearts. Went there for Saturday lunch. Our 4-year-old thought we were going to a haunted abandoned building, which upped the cool factor for him significantly. Warmly greeted by the owner, Don, and our lovely waitress. We ordered bottled beers and when you order water, that comes in a bottle, too. Took a while to take in the whole ambiance ... It's just one of those really cool, authentic places that you hope to stumble upon a few times in your life. Nothing pretentious here, no siree. Ordered two three-meat plates -- ribs, beef and sausage -- for $15 apiece. There's no menu -- you just get the lowdown from the waitress. It was more than enough for our family and everything was exactly as delicious as everyone says. After our meal, Don treated our son to a frozen ice cream and gave us a tour of the place. The pit is the real deal, seasoned from years and years of use. I can't wait to return and bring some friends, especially on a Friday to get the full experience.

You gotta call ahead to tell 'em you're coming and they don't take credit cards. The floor slopes downhill, most likely leading to spilt iced tea in your lap and you can feel the history of Texas in this place. For all of these reasons, Cele's Store is a little-known Texas BBQ legend. It's not as flashy or well-known as some of it's cousins like Salt Lick and the Lockhart Trinity, but it deserves it's own place in the Central Texas BBQ hall of fame. Here's how it works: you call ahead and tell 'em how many are coming and they do the rest. You basically get brisket, sausage, ribs, white bread, onions, jalapenos, pickles, and cheese wrapped in butcher paper. If you want sides, you gotta bring 'em yourself and they actually encourage it. The meat was just fine all the way around, especially the beef ribs (usually not one of my favorites). The dry rub they use is like a coating of heaven on a cow. When it was all said and done, we gorged ourselves on this fine cuisine and had a glass of iced tea for about $10 a person. You can't beat that with a stick. One more thing... if you've ever seen the movie "Secondhand Lions" with Robert Duvall then you've seen Cele's Store! It's the setting of the fight between Robert Duvall's character and some local ruffians. Don't miss it!

My cousins Wade and Janet took us to this very special restaurant. It was unlike anything I have every experienced. To get here you may actually need someone local and familiar with Cele's to take you. Whatever you have to do, get here and enjoy this fantastic food and unique eating experience. It's BBQ simple, nothing to get in the way of your enjoyment. This is the best BBQ I have ever had. Fantastic Wayde and Janet, thanks for taking us, fantastic!!

If you can find it, ....you won't regret it!

First time I've been there on Saturday... Good crowd... First time I ate there was on a Friday afternoon... And was the best barbecue I've ever had... Today was also the best barbecue I've ever had... Being a native Texan I know my barbecue and Cele is a must to go have dinner or lunch. Be sure and call ahead of time to check hours... Or make sure they are still serving lunch... Today "Saturday" we got there at 2 PM and they were still serving lunch until three.... Very cool atmosphere... Can't wait to take some my friends from out of town there... Very Texas very laid-back lots of fun... There is a good ole Texas bar You can sit and watch the game or have a cold beer!!! Be sure and use your GPS getting there ...its a little tricky... Had no idea where Cele Texas was and I grew up in Austin my entire life... :-). Once again excellent BBQ!!!

It doesn't look like much, but it is certainly a destination. It is the smells of smoked barbecue that gently waft over Manor. It is a reminder that we live in Texas where smoked meat is a thing. I took pictures of signs and their outdoor seating arrangements as well as their drive-through. Then, I went inside and took a look around. I was met by a small crowd and very busy cooks behind the counter. I took some pictures and finally got to meet the staff. They are very polite, and greeted me with a smile and asked me what I wanted to order. I couldn't make up my mind, but I did ask a lot of questions to get an idea how to position their advertising. So much to choose from. It sounds to me that this is the type of place where you order- pick up and go on a picnic or bring to your home to feed the masses. That was my take away; A picnic table, bench, and a broad selection of meats. You can't beat the prices here either. For the same price of going to McDonald's, you can order A better tasting meal. I prefer supporting our local businesses so that they can remain here and serve the loyal customer base. To be honest, I didn't order anything. But I did see the range of food that they do serve and they do very well for the selections. The food here sounds to be very consistent. I plan on coming back and having a sit down with Gary who is the owner there. He's a pretty neat guy from what I hear.

I came in near closing on a rainy night and they took extra time to make me a perfect plate. I even ordered an extra brisket sandwich to go which they took the time to trim the fat off if you desired. The meats definitely carried a strong unmistakable Smokey taste. The sauce was very peppery so you might want to sample that first before fully committing.

Fantastic Texas Style BBQ…read more My return trip to Austin after a decade plus, I had to get bbq. After work on a Wednesday, I decided to stop by and get my fix. This location is in a strangely empty/ not busy strip, so parking was plentiful and it looked very plan outside. However when you walked through that doors, the smells and ambiance changes you. The staff have the friendly Texan charm and give you a big welcome and are helpful in choosing your meal. Prime rib special comes with 2 sides and a bread. The roll is a little lukewarm and semi-hard. For sides, I ordered them corn pudding and Brussels sprouts. The sprouts are drenched in a sauce, tasty but heavy. The corn pudding is more in the bready side, but quite nice. You can get some onions and jalapeños as accoutrements. The kick provides a nice foil to the heaviness of the meats. And that leaves the meat. The prime rib was delicious. Soft and tender with an amazing smokiness. I also ordered a half pound of brisket. It's a lean cut, so a bit dry when compared to fatty cut. But amazing and worth a repeat. Both meats made my dinner and bbq addiction complete.

I remember both were pretty good and very heavily seasoned. Lemon pepper was indeed lemon peppery. It was a nicely cooked, tender, juicy and succulent chicken wing. It's oak smoked, so you get a bit of that smoky flavor encapsulating the wing adding a bit more depth to the flavors. Alabama white was a creamy sauce almost like a gravy. 3 Meat BBQ Plate: - Brisket: Decently tender, could use more flavor though with the seasoning. Very thinly cut - Pork Rib: A nice sticky, sweet pork rib with a good char and bark on the outside. Good crust. It is decently tender, while not fall off the bone, it was good. - Sausage: This, I wouldn't get again. It was big, juicy, and had a nice snap, but there was something off putting about the after taste that I can't quite pinpoint. - BBQ Sauce: A tangier bbq sauce, on the liquidier side - Corn casserole: Creamy, yummy, and sweet - Mac and Cheese: needs more flavor. I wouldn't get this one again I also ordered banana pudding, but unfortunately they forgot to give it to me (I ordered delivery)

A friend recommended this spot, when I scoped it out I discovered it was New Orleans-themed BBQ, very intriguing. Everything is à la carte, so I built myself a little sampler: brisket, pork sausage, mac and cheese, and the cornbread dressing. Brisket: Moist, well‑seasoned, and wonderfully fatty. It's not the heavy smoke you get from classic Texas brisket, but the tenderness and flavor more than make up for it. Sausage: Absolutely massive. And absolutely NOLA. It was a cajun style Boudin sausage packed with rice, spices, and that honestly almost a full meal on its own. I took home half of it for leftovers. Cornbread Dressing: They described it as a crawfish boil in one bite, and they weren't lying. Sweet, salty, and full of bayou flavor. Pimento Mac & Cheese: The richest mac and cheese I've ever tasted. Some might call it salty; to me it's just the natural intensity of pimento. It was bold, cheesy, and unapologetic. The Cajun mustard ties everything together: full of spices, a little sweet, and exactly what I want with smoked meats. Service was fast, the place wasn't busy, and the whole experience felt easy in the best way. Cajun cooking is all about spice and flavor, and Parish delivers on both. A new contender on my BBQ list.
