Stop by on a Saturday between 11 -2 and grab a bbq platter. It's enough for 2 and WOOOOW some of the best brisket I've had in a while. Dawn the " bartender " and one of the owners is the SWEETEST man alive. He'll meet you once and remember your name and what ya drink! The history tied to this building is rich and you'll have plenty to look at while you're inside.

Cele Store is set in a terrific location on the outskirts of Austin. Though, Austin has grown exponentially over the years, you still feel like you're escaping the masses when you head out to Manor for some BBQ at Cele. Amazing BBQ, atmosphere is historic and quaint. Recommend with 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Amazing food. Found this place by accident and will definitely be back! I took my food to go so i didn't take any pics of it. But I did take photos of the interior.

This was a set for the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. [ Down in Bastrop, the original 1974 Gas Station was not available. Also, the original 1974 Round Rock house was moved in 1998 to Kingsland, TX, now an American eatery "Grand Central Cafe" ] Besides TCM 2003, the Cele Store has been used by Clint Eastwood & a few others for movie scenes. Now It is a Thurs thru Sat pit bbq eatery / bar with live country music as scheduled. No sides, I would guess they are building this up incrementally without extra staff for now. I came down here not knowing their limited schedule...So... I found my way over to Bastrop, the original Gas Station from 1974 TCM is rocking as "We Slaughter BBQ" and it is actually quite good, but a bit small menu but good at what they do. You can get regular, or No Excuses Spicy. And, plenty of TCM merchandise on hand. There are rental bungalows too. ( sorry for rant, just clarifying TCM places )

Just a brisket and sausage plate yummy!!

I felt at home, when you get served but he owner and encouraged to discuss whatever's on the brian....laugh a little, watch the basketball game and talk about the good old days. Really a monumental experience.

This one's gonna have a special place in our hearts. Went there for Saturday lunch. Our 4-year-old thought we were going to a haunted abandoned building, which upped the cool factor for him significantly. Warmly greeted by the owner, Don, and our lovely waitress. We ordered bottled beers and when you order water, that comes in a bottle, too. Took a while to take in the whole ambiance ... It's just one of those really cool, authentic places that you hope to stumble upon a few times in your life. Nothing pretentious here, no siree. Ordered two three-meat plates -- ribs, beef and sausage -- for $15 apiece. There's no menu -- you just get the lowdown from the waitress. It was more than enough for our family and everything was exactly as delicious as everyone says. After our meal, Don treated our son to a frozen ice cream and gave us a tour of the place. The pit is the real deal, seasoned from years and years of use. I can't wait to return and bring some friends, especially on a Friday to get the full experience.

You gotta call ahead to tell 'em you're coming and they don't take credit cards. The floor slopes downhill, most likely leading to spilt iced tea in your lap and you can feel the history of Texas in this place. For all of these reasons, Cele's Store is a little-known Texas BBQ legend. It's not as flashy or well-known as some of it's cousins like Salt Lick and the Lockhart Trinity, but it deserves it's own place in the Central Texas BBQ hall of fame. Here's how it works: you call ahead and tell 'em how many are coming and they do the rest. You basically get brisket, sausage, ribs, white bread, onions, jalapenos, pickles, and cheese wrapped in butcher paper. If you want sides, you gotta bring 'em yourself and they actually encourage it. The meat was just fine all the way around, especially the beef ribs (usually not one of my favorites). The dry rub they use is like a coating of heaven on a cow. When it was all said and done, we gorged ourselves on this fine cuisine and had a glass of iced tea for about $10 a person. You can't beat that with a stick. One more thing... if you've ever seen the movie "Secondhand Lions" with Robert Duvall then you've seen Cele's Store! It's the setting of the fight between Robert Duvall's character and some local ruffians. Don't miss it!

My cousins Wade and Janet took us to this very special restaurant. It was unlike anything I have every experienced. To get here you may actually need someone local and familiar with Cele's to take you. Whatever you have to do, get here and enjoy this fantastic food and unique eating experience. It's BBQ simple, nothing to get in the way of your enjoyment. This is the best BBQ I have ever had. Fantastic Wayde and Janet, thanks for taking us, fantastic!!

If you can find it, ....you won't regret it!

First time I've been there on Saturday... Good crowd... First time I ate there was on a Friday afternoon... And was the best barbecue I've ever had... Today was also the best barbecue I've ever had... Being a native Texan I know my barbecue and Cele is a must to go have dinner or lunch. Be sure and call ahead of time to check hours... Or make sure they are still serving lunch... Today "Saturday" we got there at 2 PM and they were still serving lunch until three.... Very cool atmosphere... Can't wait to take some my friends from out of town there... Very Texas very laid-back lots of fun... There is a good ole Texas bar You can sit and watch the game or have a cold beer!!! Be sure and use your GPS getting there ...its a little tricky... Had no idea where Cele Texas was and I grew up in Austin my entire life... :-). Once again excellent BBQ!!!

When I saw it, I was SO excited. It was old, rickety, paint pealing and should've been condemned. I loved it! Exactly what I'd expect for good barbecue. Ordered two sliced brisket plates and a chopped brisket sandwich plate. Got the food to-go and headed to the house. I was SO disappointed with just about everything. MIL thought the sandwich was good, but she didn't get her coleslaw side. Wife's meat was good, but her coleslaw (and mine) wasn't goof. Very vinegary and not creamy at all like I'm used to for coleslaw. My brisket, however was horrible. It was more fat than meat and I couldn't eat it it was so fatty. In addition to the coleslaw, the green beans I got was in desperate need of salt. Really disappointed overall. Maybe it was an off day or something, but just wasn't worth it imo.

It doesn't look like much, but it is certainly a destination. It is the smells of smoked barbecue that gently waft over Manor. It is a reminder that we live in Texas where smoked meat is a thing. I took pictures of signs and their outdoor seating arrangements as well as their drive-through. Then, I went inside and took a look around. I was met by a small crowd and very busy cooks behind the counter. I took some pictures and finally got to meet the staff. They are very polite, and greeted me with a smile and asked me what I wanted to order. I couldn't make up my mind, but I did ask a lot of questions to get an idea how to position their advertising. So much to choose from. It sounds to me that this is the type of place where you order- pick up and go on a picnic or bring to your home to feed the masses. That was my take away; A picnic table, bench, and a broad selection of meats. You can't beat the prices here either. For the same price of going to McDonald's, you can order A better tasting meal. I prefer supporting our local businesses so that they can remain here and serve the loyal customer base. To be honest, I didn't order anything. But I did see the range of food that they do serve and they do very well for the selections. The food here sounds to be very consistent. I plan on coming back and having a sit down with Gary who is the owner there. He's a pretty neat guy from what I hear.

Meat--The meat was on the dry side, but not too dry. The meat had a LOT of fat on it to be so dry. Still very good though, great flavor and great crust. Very tasty. Sauce-very good. Balanced sweet and tangy, not on the sweet side, really likes it. Sides-I got green beans, they were not from a can, field fresh, definitely not overcooked, might could use a little more cooking. Nicely seasoned but could use a little salt. I also got Mac n cheese and it was good, I've had better but it was a nice flavor and I got a piece of toasty crust which I like and it was good. Dessert- I got peach Cobbler. I didn't like the crust. It's a cake-like crust and I prefer the pie like crust. The peaches were fresh and not from a can, not overly sweet, good flavor, but again, no cake for me. They don't have Coke Zero only Diet Coke. I did go inside to use the restroom. This place absolutely earns a full 5 stars. Here is why it completely lives up to the massive hype: The Brisket is King: The brisket here is like nothing I have ever had in my life. The bark, the smoke ring, the tenderness--it completely melts in your mouth. It sets a whole new standard for barbecue. The Ribs & Sides: The ribs were good--definitely better than anything I've found back home in California. The sides are on the smaller side and pretty standard, but honestly, you are coming here for the meat, so it doesn't even matter. Miracle Wait Times & Great Service: Franklin is famous for hours-long lines, but I somehow caught a miracle twice and got inside in under 5 minutes! Even with the high pressure of serving huge crowds, the staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth. It completely ruined all other barbecue for me. If you are visiting Austin, this is a non-negotiable, bucket-list stop!

I also wasn't much of a meat eater back in those days, so I mostly had tried their sides. Now we're both on keto, so we go for just the meat. The meat was some of the best I've had lately! If I had one criticism, the brisket was just the slightest bit dry, but it had the perfect amount of fat to still make it taste good, and the smoky flavor was perfect! The turkey was moist, and probably my favorite part of the meal. We didn't order sides, but the included pickles were better than standard. It was rainy when we went there, so everyone was packed inside. There were barely enough tables. Their outside seating is not covered. There was no line, and my husband had finished our order by the time I had shaken out my umbrella. The air conditioning was a little too cold for a rainy day. The parking lot is all designated handicapped parking, but we got street parking right next to the building. Luckily, there was no line, so I was able to order right away. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are really nice. The Tex-Czech sausage was one of the most delicious sausages I've had at a BBQ restaurant. I absolutely loved the melted cheese inside the sausage. The brisket also hit the spot, and the sauce was amazing. My only wish, or small complaint, is the portion size. It feels like shrinkflation may be part of it, and it's definitely not cheap. I highly recommend trying this place out, as their bbq is pretty good and fair priced + their employees are super sweet!!!!! We ordered the baked potato with brisket, a pound of brisket, and the 4 meat plate. The baked potato was the ABSOLUTE BEST. The potato was so soft, and it was smothered in butter. You could even eat the skin because it wasn't too thick. Brisket pieces were extremely flavorful. The pound of brisket was good with the bread and bbq sauce, but I definitely would've preferred to eat it with some onions and pickles too. I didn't think to ask for some because I just wanted to take the food home asap cuz I was starving lol. Only a few onions were included in our meals as can be seen in the photos. We wanted to get the pulled pork for the 4 meat plate, but the employee said they had just placed it into the smoker, which was a bummer because we really wanted to try it. They also said they didn't have sausage available. We had come at around 1240pm. We ended up just doubling up on brisket and ribs. Some parts of the meat were very tender but some of the other parts were dry and tough. Additionally, it seemed to be lacking the smoky flavor and was a bit on the blander side, but the bbq sauce made up for it! For the two sides, we got potato salad and creamed corn. They made the creamed corn fresh and hot, and when I say it was hot, I mean it was so hot even when we brought it back to the hotel that I had to spit it out because I burned my tongue HAHA. The creamed corn wasn't as sweet as the creamed corn I've had in the past, it was more buttery, which I had no problem with. Still had that nice creamy texture though! They have very minimal seating, and the charcoal stench was a bit too strong for me, so it wasn't the most ideal place to dine at. Therefore, we just took it to go! They take Zelle, cash, or card, but if you do card, they will charge an extra service fee, so keep that in mind. Parking is not a big issue, you can just park on the side of the street.

The BBQ sauces complemented the smokiness perfectly without overpowering the meat. Each sauce brought something different to the table, making it fun to mix and match with the various meats. The sides, however, didn't quite live up to the same standard for me. The potato salad and mac and cheese were just okay and weren't my personal favorites. My son ordered the pimento Mac and cheese and that's just not my favorite. The potato salad had a kick to it. But the flavor was good. Just not my jam but definitely worth looking into!
