I decided it was finally time to give it another shot, and I'm so glad I did. First of all, the service was phenomenal. The employee who took my order ~I believe his name was Aidan~ did an amazing job. Not only did he take my order quickly and efficiently, but since I was dining in, he also brought my food out to my table, which I really appreciated. Everywhere I go I always order some kind of dirty Mac and cheese, which in this case is the chopped brisket with Mac and Cheese, even though it isn't listed on the menu as a meal. I usually know exactly what I want before I get to the register so I don't waste anyone's time, and Aidan knew exactly how to ring it up. The entire transaction took less than a minute but didn't feel rushed. The atmosphere was very relaxed on a Thursday evening. It wasn't very busy, but after this visit, I can definitely understand why people keep coming back. The food was excellent. The mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy, and the chopped brisket was moist and flavorful. To finish off the meal, I had a slice of apple crumb pie for dessert, and it was a great ending to an already fantastic experience. I'll definitely be coming back again soon perhaps to try the breakfast tacos next time. If this visit is any indication, I have high hopes for them. This has become one of my favorite experiences at a local restaurant, and I'm excited to return.

First, the staff is amazingly friendly offered explanations for everything I asked. I was getting food from another vendor so I just wanted to sample a few items and I chose the BBQ jambalaya and Banana pudding. I was pleasantly surprised that the jambalaya had sausage, brisket and chicken in it so every bite had at least meat. It did have a small kick, but overall it was amazing. The rice wasn't over cooked and the meat wasn't dried out. I will definitely get this again. The banana pudding was FANTASTIC!!!! The vanilla wafers were still crispy and the flavor was outstanding. I was sad I didn't get two. I am very excited to go back and try the brisket burger as it sounds amazing from the description the owner gave me. I will update my review as I try more.

Lazy G BBQ Company in Cedar Park is exactly what it sounds like: lazy. For a BBQ joint in Texas,…read morewhere the standard is high, this place is embarrassingly bad. Rudy's BBQ should be the baseline, yet Lazy G doesn't even reach that. I ordered the ribs and brisket, hoping for something decent, but both were far below average. The brisket was especially disappointing--you could see the congealed fat right in the slices (see pictures). Serving meat at the right temperature is BBQ 101, and their failure here made the texture and flavor a cold, greasy mess. The sides weren't any better. The cucumber salad was bland, with just a dusting of dill and no seasoning whatsoever. Adding salt and vinegar should be a no-brainer, but apparently, even the basics were too much effort here. I was excited to try the smoked mushroom side (as a mushroom lover), but it was downright unpleasant. There was zero smokiness, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down BBQ sauce, giving the button mushrooms a soggy, unappetizing texture. The BBQ sauce was another letdown--it tasted like bottled Sweet Baby Ray's. For a BBQ place, using (or at least mimicking) store-bought sauce is the ultimate red flag that they just don't care. Even at $22 for a two-meat plate, the quality doesn't justify the price. In short, Lazy G BBQ Company doesn't just fall short--it doesn't even try. If their goal was to live up to their name, they succeeded; this food is lazy, uninspired, and, frankly, not worth your time or money.

My husband never eats mac and cheese and I'll be darned if he didn't finish my Trashy Mac and Cheese for me that evening! Finally! Some mac and cheese that is actually delicious and creamy. The toppings of brisket, bbq sauce, french onions and jalapenos all stirred together makes each bite a little slice of heaven. WOW! The next morning he said, "I kept telling myself I need to leave a little bit more for Lee Lee but I kept opening it back up and eating more until it was all gone!" Good thing I had my bites right when we arrived at our hotel because I was so hungry. My husband ordered sliced brisket and we lucked out and got a few of the brisket burnt ends. They weren't all "candified" like a lot of the other bbq places serve; but they were smoky and delicious. I also enjoyed the potato salad. We were excited to order the smoked mushrooms but honestly, they could have used a bit more flavor for me. You could just tap the salt shaker and it would have been fine. I appreciated the creative side dish and love how the bbq scene has doubled down on the side hustle! It was cold out so we sat on the enclosed patio that had heaters and were very comfortable. We order a couple of beers and waited for our food. The service was friendly. This was a nice dining experience.

If you wanted authentic Elgin sausage in those days, there was no shortcut--you pointed your vehicle east and made the pilgrimage. The reward was a link of the town's famous "hot guts," a sausage with a snappy casing that gave way to a coarse, peppery filling infused with the unmistakable flavor of slow-smoked meat. It was the kind of sausage that lingered in your memory long after the last bite. Thirty years later, Southside is still turning out the same quality sausage that built its reputation over more than 140 years. While the sausage remains the headliner, the supporting cast is impressive: brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, sandwiches, and an array of classic Texas barbecue sides. On this visit, I opted for the daily special, a boneless New York strip smoked to a perfect medium rare. The smoking process transformed the steak into an exceptionally tender cut, one so yielding that even a plastic knife sliced through it with ease. The lone disappointment was that the steak itself carried only a faint hint of smoke and could have benefited from a more assertive seasoning profile. Still, it was a quality piece of beef, and a drizzle of Southside's distinctive barbecue sauce elevated it considerably, adding a sweet-and-savory punch that brought the flavors into focus. The sides rounded out the meal nicely. The beans were rich and satisfying, while the potato salad delivered the familiar comfort expected alongside Texas barbecue. Southside's legacy may have been built on sausage, but after more than a century in business, it's clear the market has mastered far more than just hot guts.

Chopped (no…read morepulled) pork is spicy, so if you can't tolerate some hot spice you won't like the chopped pork. They do have sliced pork that is just smoked with no sauce at all. Didn't try the brisket, sausage or chicken this trip. Skin-on potato salad was OK, but not as creamy as Rudy's. They also feature an in-store deli meat selection which looked pretty good. For me, the no sweet sauce is a deal breaker so I probably won't be back, but if you like spicy hot you will probably like it. That's the reason fir only 3 stars.

Everything was warm and the presentation was amazing, even for takeout. The brisket was delicious, my only complaint is you don't get a choice between lean and fatty preordering. I would never buy lean brisket but half the pound was lean. I will say that the lean was still pretty good, just not my favorite. The pork belly was my favorite item that I ordered. Just the right amount of sweet and smoky flavor with the most tender pork belly I've ever had. The chimichurri beef rib was succulent and beyond tender, but not at all overcooked. The Chimichurri sauce adds a nice brightness to the fatty beef rib. Sides are sides right? Not here at interstellar, the Mac and cheese was some of the best I've had at any restaurant! Creamy, cheesy, and that cracker topping put it over the top! The smoked scalloped potatoes were incredible but honestly I was too full to really enjoy them.

Also, in Austin we thought all bbq would be good. To our surprise on a Friday early afternoon just past 12 there was a short line. We waited about 25 min instead of the mentioned 2-3 hours. We got brisket, short ribs, & pork belly with jalapeño coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Presentation looked amazing, however, our bbq was lukewarm. Except for the short rib, the meats were not tender and not easy to pull apart or fall apart. Brisket was dry and chewy and the pork belly was cold that the fat was unrendered. Flavor profile of the pork was unique, on the sweeter side but eventually got tired of it as I am not much of a sweet meat person. If the meats were warm and soft, it would have been a good day & prob 4 stars bc the flavor was good, but just short of it being good all together. We weren't a fan of the jalapeño coleslaw, the jalapeño overpowered it. Mac and cheese was decent. I did like their coffee while waiting since this was my first stop out of the airport. You order at the coffee bar.

Love the tender juice beef rib. The flavor profile is great and not too mushy. The beef brisket has a great blend of firmness and juiciness.
