We had such a great experience at Celestina! We came for Sunday brunch and everything was absolutely delicious. The Deluxe Platter was amazing with so much variety, and the Carnitas Hash was flavorful and perfectly cooked. We also tried the enchiladas from the regular menu and they were excellent too. The cheese dip appetizer was super tasty and a great start to the meal! Our server (I wish I remembered her name!) was incredibly friendly and so sweet with our two year-old, which made the experience even better. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I thought this place was great, for the food, on myk first visit. Now after a few more wonderful lunches, I'm upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. The service has been fine, the cocktail menu varied and excellent, and the food succulent. If you love Mexican food, and realize that "Tex-Mex" is just one part of the great cuisine, you'll love this place. If you do not like Mexican, just MAYBE you are judging Mexican based on what "Tex-Mex" is, and you should try this place to get a new outlook, also. Today I had a wonderful dish based on a mole sauce, very fresh and tasty chips and salsa, and a delicious (and potent!) mezcal-based drink. Forgive me for not remembering names. Our server forgot one order, left drinks sitting on the bar pick up until we reminded him we had ordered drinks, he also messed up the checks. The food was not good. Mine was also cold. Well, shoot. We've come here a few more times now and the experience has been underwhelming. Last time we were given a water glass that still had lipstick on the rim. We sat outside and there were so many flies that it was difficult to enjoy our food. The waitress seemed very overwhelmed and did not provide good service - she never came around to fill our waters, and we got cold and stale rice. A pretty big bummer! We've dined here a couple of times already, and each visit has been a great experience. I'm usually pretty selective when it comes to Mexican restaurants, but this one quickly became a favorite. It has a very modern take to it. During our first visit, we sat on the patio, and I ordered the margarita flight, highly recommend it! The hibiscus margarita was hands down the best margarita I've ever had. For food, I ordered the enchiladas, which were excellent, though I do wish they came with beans in addition to rice. My husband had the fajitas and really enjoyed them. They were very generous with the protein! He also ordered a side of sweet plantains, which were absolutely delicious. Both times our waiter/waitress has been great and very attentive! We appreciated the manager checking in on us the first time we went. Bummer. I was so excited to come here and dragged the whole family here at 3pm on a Saturday. It was not busy at all. When we walked in, the bartender acted like she was annoyed we were even there. Finally we were seated and then we ordered drinks. I had a lovely skinny margarita. It was well done. But my husband ordered a beer off the draft beer menu and it was actually in a bottle. No bueno. But ok now we get our food and it was literally refrigerator cold. We asked the manager to help us out and he all of a sudden spoke no English. Cmon dude. All we asked for was a warm plate of your $17 entree which doesn't include rice and beans ?!?! What? Ok so then my poor mom was scared to send her food back to be heated / "cooked!" For fear of what they might do to it so she ate a cold California burrito. Gross. The fries literally had cold fat on them. I think it's best to share my review by sharing the review of one of my BFFs: When I sat down with him and was talking he said, "I'm ashamed to say but this is my 3rd time here this week" I was surprised, but he reiterated "everything i've tried is different and amazing, and so I thought coming back made sense!" I enjoyed Celestine a couple of times within a week. First, was for a weekend dinner with friends. And secondly, I met a girlfriend for lunch. Both were excellent experiences! Celestina is definitely elevated Mexican - not the random Mexican spot on every corner. Everything was so good! I enjoyed the Enchiladas Verde for dinner, along with their Devil Margarita. So delicious! A few days later, I had a bowl for lunch, and it was equally tasty. The only downside was that service is a little slow. I had the same young server on both visits, and even though it wasn't crowded, she struggled to stay on top of things. A great addition to the side of town! It's still fairly new, so I'm hopeful that next time will be a five star experience. First off, the set up is fantastic. Will sit at the bar next time to feel more like date night. There were a ton of families here which is cool that it fulfills the need for a neighborhood family restaurant. Great patio for when the weather warms up. Looks like they have heat lamps available for that area. Wish wish I could remember our servers name because she was a doll. So attentive and friendly. Got the chips, salsa, and queso to start. Very good it was hard to stop. Ordered the jalapeño margarita and it was fine but next time I want to try the flight or the habanero one. Tried the Trio de Carnes (3 meats: chicken, steak and carnitas) - carnitas with the onions were hands down the best. Even better next day. I got the California burrito and it was good but was totally overshadowed by the carnitas. Got a side of esquite (corn) and the chipotle sauce was a bit too spicy. Want to try plantains, birras and empanadas next time. So much potential here. Will try again soon! read more

First, I'm very particular about my chips and salsa and these did not disappoint. The chips tasted fresh and they weirdly melted in your mouth if that makes sense (??). The salsa also tastes fresh. Guacamole was fresh with a hint of lime. The margaritas made by Will were AMAZING (? I think that was his name, he seemed like he was running around doing a lot of things). Strong, but not too, sweet but not too. Food was great. ONLY area of improvement that I saw was larger chunks of chicken in the fajitas to protect against it drying out (especially with leftover because the portion was enough for leftovers). So I know that you cant expect amazing authentic Mexican food like back home in Cali. The salsa was very bland like others have mentioned. The service was soso. My mom ordered the burrito bowl and thought it was OK. My daughter ordered the enchiladas Verdes and said they were kind of weird. I ordered the "CARNITAS EN SALSA VERDE" which is chili Verde. But I guess they don't know what that is here maybe? The food was ok, better than some places around here that say they are Mexican, but not much flavor with the beans and rice. i guess my plate they dont cook the pork with the sauce so it isn't moist meat, but was decent tasting. There were several filling options for the street tacos, but you could only choose one type per order instead of mixing and matching (for example, one chicken, one steak, and one fried avocado). If you order fajitas, one of your sides must be the fajita salad because the fajitas don't come with typical toppings like sour cream, lettuce, or tomatoes. That was disappointing, as most restaurants include those with fajitas. Overall, the food was just okay. Very disappointing 2nd visit! Food didn't taste as I expected and it was badly prepared. I know Mexican food and this wasn't it. The meat on the carne asada was dry and tasteless, and the tortillas were less than expected. The carnitas tacos were a bit better but not to my expectations. We had other people with us and each group ordered an appetizer and meals. Once again, meals were delivered before the appetizers. The food is good here but avoid Chow Now delivery and know that management does not stand behind its delivery partners - you will get ripped off if they screw up your order! Ordered through Chow Now with a bunch of hungry kids at home and they delivered the wrong food, I had to drive to the store to get my order and they had promised it would be available when I arrived. It took 20 minutes after I arrived to get our food. On top of that Celestina management made me pay for the order a second time and said I have to try to get my money from Chow Now! New Mexican flare on Ebenezer near Westland and Northshore! Finally a nice trendy place with a great ambiance. Just what we needed in this area. The owners of Zalate off Clinton hwy have opened a nice spin off. So great to see them on this side of town. Service is excellent, the waitress is super knowledgeable about the menu and has great recommendations for what you're craving. Love that they have Mexican Coke. I am a big fan of the bottled coke with pure cane sugar. The salsa has a nice hint of a Smokey flavor and the queso is yummy. Try the mahi mahi tacos. Great taste and extremely filling. I got mine with flour tortillas instead of corn. I think that flour taste better. Just a personal opinion. This place is clean, friendly and has a great menu. 5 stars all the way. Give them a try. About nine of us ate there last night. I was the only one that wasn't satisfied with what I ordered.The carnitas burrito looked great. Unfortunately it was the worst burrito, or possibly the worst dish I've ever ordered! I've eaten in many Mexican restaurants. When I cut into it, I found little cubes of 'mystery meat' it was dry, or overcooked, or both. It also was extremely salty! I didn't complain because my church group, there, would think I was just to picky, since everybody else did enjoy their meal. I also took two tacos home for my wife. She did enjoy those. It's my nature. And I so want to use it to review this place. It was that good. My wife and I have eaten at several Mexican restaurants in Knoxville (Señor Taco comes to mind) but nothing COMES CLOSE to this place. The drink menu, the beers, the service, the vibe, are TOP NOTCH. And I haven't even mentioned the (you know the word I'd like to use) FOOD!! OMG. Just fantastic. Even when I got the bill I was laughing! If you like Mexican food, and you live near the West Knoxville/Farragut area, get in your car, and drive there right this minute! Unless of course it's early morning. This is a very new Restaurant on Ebenezer Road in an also new small strip mall. They have only been open just under two weeks! They have a nice sized dining area, and also a patio for outside dining. Our server Monique, was very friendly, nice and helpful. This is not your typical Mexican type place.....it has lots of unique options to choose from. Complimentary Chips & Salsa were brought our for us to munch on while we looked at the menu. The vegetable Empanadas were delicious with a white cheesy creamy filling. The only vegetables I detected was corn - but hey they could have been hiding something else in there!! The Salad was a good size and I loved the different textures going on with the corn, black beans, queso and tomatoes & avocados. There were way to many onions on it for me...but then any raw onions is to many for me!! My husband ordered the California Burrito with a side of Plantains and enjoyed them both very much. Me - weeellllllllll.......they don't have much in the main entree section for vegetarians so I just ordered a side of rice and a side of black beans. I loved the fluffy and soft texture of the rice, although it could have used a bit more seasoning, and the black beans were ....hmmmmm.....just black beans! But I did enjoy both of them and they were filling. We were actually to full to try the dessert so we will have to try that next time. Yes....there WILL be a next time. They told me that they were working on adding some vegetarian mains to the menu, so I'm going to keep my eye out for them.
