We had dinner this evening - me/my husband/2 teenage girls; we had the Brie appetizer which was delicious, warm, creamy Brie with some fruit topping and some warm/buttery bread slices to go with. Loved it. We also had the olives mix, it was fine but kind of basic and would skip next time. Entrees we all loved, one ribeye special, one beef tenderloin, one lobster pizza, and one chicken chili/soba noodles with steak skewer. The steaks were nice quality, and my daughter really enjoyed the lobster pizza, seemed to have plenty of lobster on it. My one complaint was that my skewers were very dry but the soba noodles that it came with were very tasty, loved the sauce on them. Drinks were also great, girls had the mocktails, I had the smoke show which I highly recommend! We also took advantage of the to go wine at a 35% discount and brought a great bottle of cab back to our air b and b. Love this new (to us) addition to the TC dining scene. Also, service started out a little slow but once our server got going he did a great job. One of the few downtown restaurants that is actually open on a Monday or Tuesday, The Tasting Room is a great choice any day of their schedule! Coming in during a downpour, my wife and I were quickly seated due to prompt timing with our online reservation. I had mentioned that we were there for our anniversary, and coming to the table was a long stem red rose - I hadn't ordered one, but was so pleased to see this! Once seated, our waiter promptly came to us and offered drinks. Perusing the menu, we decided to go a rather unorthodox way of ordering, by staggering various a la carte items to come out at certain times. Needless to say, our waiter was ready for the challenge. We ordered the dueling feta dips, which will come out in a large amount with the most addicting pita pieces... we had to take some leftovers from this home! Minutes after we were finished were our second round of items - a wedge salad for me (with oodles of bacon and blue cheese crumbles), and the salmon bites on crostini for my wife. Awesome. Giving some time for us to digest, our final item came out, the prosciutto arugula pizza with balsamic glaze. At only 10" in diameter it was just the right size to polish off the evening, and I'm wishing we ordered another one to go just because of how unbelievable this dish was. This was our first time here and we plan to make repeat trips here when we revisit the area. Convenient parking across the street, and even a nice view of the bay from window seats in the venue. Our first time here today. They do t have their liquor license yet (thanks Gretchen ) but the food is so good you won't even miss it!!! We had the Ahi tuna and a prosciutto and fig pizza. We sat at the bar and had dinner and drinks . The bar service was great. We had the goat cheese appetizer. It was very good but only two pieces came with the serving. The pizza was an above average wood fired pizza. With a salad it is enough for two. We also shared the Italian chopped salad. The salad was average and possibly most disappointing because I was expecting a flavorful salad to go with some interesting menu options and it was very average. Atmosphere was great and service was very good. I would definitely recommend and I would really like to try an entree next time as they looked very good. Maybe this was my error not having a main focus on tasting high-end liquor. While I do enjoy a good drink (and I cannot drink wine) I was there for the overall dining experience - Restaurant Week. They do not serve REAL dairy 1/2 & 1/2 for coffee; they do not serve decaf coffee. We did mention the following concerns to the owner, and frankly we did not consider her answer "good enough": Her answer was because of the cost. When I asked the waiter to check with the bar for dairy for my coffee I was served something thick and sweetened. When I asked what it was he showed me the container from the bar supplies - a liquid heavily sweetened "ice cream." Good thing I do not have blood sugar issues! With the cost of the alcoholic offerings, surely dairy and decaf could be worked in for a nice cap-off of the meal. And an alternate food item should NEVER be served without telling the diners what they are consuming! Our waiter was charismatic and friendly until he had up-sold the expensive liquors. I will grant that he was busy, but I thought we were treated as an after-thought after that: people at our table had to ask 3 times for the pairing wines with the courses; they had to ask 3 times to have the water glasses refilled; he did not attempt to distribute our bills to us, he just stacked them on the table twice; he did not check on us to ask how everything was. He got his nice tip from all of us though. THIS time... The food was good for the most part. Those who ordered the salmon said it was great. The Brussel Sprouts were very good BUT one of our group only got one half a sprout and the rest was just loose leaves and bits squash; she felt like they cleaned out the skillet for her serving. There were only raves about the coconut chocolate pie, but the other desserts could use a bit of work. The lettuce wedge was good, and it was HUGE - about 1/6th of a head of lettuce. It looked like a "lettuce sundae." But that is a lot of lettuce. Maybe some of the money they could save on lettuce could go into the 1/2 & 1/2 fund. We also did not prefer the deviation from the standard restaurant-week options. Instead of including a dessert and one starter option, there were 2 options before the main course; desserts were a $9 add-on, which of course we did opted for, but 2 of us said "not good enough at this price." (The cheese cake and the rum cake.) We wanted to give the Tasting Room a try. I would not go back unless I was just dropping in for a high-end drink and maybe a snack; this would not be on my "first choice" list for dinner, especially at this price point. read more

This place is amazing! The space is absolutely beautiful. You see the bay thru the front windows and the rear of the restaurant is on the river. They have huge roll up glass doors in the back that look out onto the river and a three tier linear fireplace. The deck is gorgeous! We had brunch, the food was perfect. Visited the Tasting Room during our visit in TC. Made a reservation. Got to restaurant a few min early where we were rudely told by the person seating that we would t get seated any earlier. While it's ok to not be seated earlier the response could have been handled in a friendlier way. Once seated, it took 15 min to be greeted by anyone. Finally saved a waiter down to at least ask to put in an appetizer. Craft cocktails is what was promoted. They weee ok nothing special. Got an espresso martini and spicy margarita. Ordered the dueling feta dip to start which was awesome. Got the Asian inspired noodle salad, chopped salad, lobster pizza and beef tenderloin. Tenderloin has zero seasoning, potatoes looked to be old as well as vegetables and were cold. Would not recommend. Other items were ok nothing great. Disappointed to say the least since we have tried to get into the tasting Room our last few visits. Setting is quite nice and in a great location. Very pretty. Food was amazing. We tried four different small plates. Popcorn with bacon and dried cherries! Crazy good. Ahi plate was fabulous, as were the figs stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in prosciutto and lettuce wraps with spicy chicken or might have been pork. All fabulous. They'll be a gold mine in TC. Server was attentive and described all items to a tee. Even met one of the owners who was clearly excited about his restaurant and their vision of this eatery and cocktail lounge. Stop looking in the windows! Go in and check this place out. Such an amazing vibe that's not typical in TC. Hip, but not trendy. Posh, but not stuffy.
