The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The wines were excellent, with a great variety to suit different tastes. We appreciated learning about each wine and the winery's story while enjoying the stunning surroundings. The experience felt both personal and memorable. I love love love the wine here, and once we got service, the service was great. We learned about the wines, had fun with the sommelier, and felt like we got a full experience. The four of us came without a reservation on a gloomy day in the middle of the week. The vineyard itself wasn't outstanding, and we could not sit outside as they took in all the seats, even though it wouldn't rain that day. The inside tasting room we were placed in didn't have any seating for us, as we were not sat at the bar. Overall, I would pop over for a tasting but I wouldn't want to stay here and relax with a bottle unless there were better seating options. read more

We came here because we became members of a local winery and we were told that we have wine tasting access here as well. If you want a smaller quaint wine tasting experience with restaurants and bars as well as shopping in walking proximity then this is the place to start or end at. We stopped by this winery during the Wine & Chocolate Event, Feb. 13 & 14, 2016. This tasting room is located in a downtown/square area. Parking can be tough to find, especially during a busy event weekend. This tasting room serves several different types of wines, but today they primarily served Michael David wines. The reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is because of their service, which was outstanding! They just brought back Friday music in the evening, love it! This is one of our favorite stops in downtown Lodi. next stop on my Lodi Wine Tasting tour.... I absolutely love the design and ambiance of this little spot. Snuggled next to fellow wine tasting rooms, my favorite cheese shop, eclectic antique stores and more is this open and airy brick and beam bar. A small sitting area by the front door and a few round tables toward the back invite you to kick back and enjoy a drink and some friendly conversation. On this chilly Sunday afternoon, we entered and approached the bar. The lone bartender was engaged in lively banter with 4 other guests which was easily deduced were regulars. She greeted us and explained the menu, to which only 2 of us decided to partake. We were on our second sample when the guys at the end of the bar began chanting for the bubbly. Turns out the gal next to us had wished to sample the champagne blanc de blanc but the bartender was hesitant to open a bottle just for one taste, so with a show of hands from all those at the bar, we were treated to a special off-menu sample. What a treat! That goes to show great friendly service. She was able to answer our questions about some samples and I ended up purchasing a very nice bottle of Incognito Blanc. I am not real happy with Cellardoor. Bokisch Wines on their web site direct you to CellarDoor to taste their wines. I went there and they only had two Bokisch Wines on the menu. That is not much of a tasting. On top of it, they were out of the white. They had another white open and offered to let me taste it and the red for free. That white was stale and oxidized, probably from being opened too long. I tasted a third wine, some Rhone that was not interesting, I left $5. I was unhappy and the only reason I'm giving them three stars is because they offered to let me taste the Bokisch red for free. read more

We were in Lodi for, of all things, not a wine tasting opportunity, but to see my Mustang's engine dynoed after it was rebuilt. There's a dyno shop in town that my builder chose to use and we had some time to kill before they were ready to do the final dyno run, so we figured - why not try some local Lodi zins? Cellardoor was sparsely populated on a wednesday night, but there was a salsa lesson going on downstairs and occasionally a few of the dancers would come up during their break. Wine and dance lessons sound like the perfect combination! The local zins that we focused on were excellent, and prices were good here. I seem to recall the "Westwind" as being particularly good, but it's been a couple months so memory might be a little hazy. Still, well worth a trip if you're in town, just passing through, or visiting wineries nearby and want a place to actually have a glass at the end of the day. read more

This past weekend after seeing a movie in downtown Lodi my wife and I stumbled upon the Cellardoor and to be honest surprised they were still open as most wineries close early, but since they were not an official winery they were open later...first glance in this place is this is a place where you want to relax and have some wine. From the outdoor patio area to the bar and or great seating areas throughout the Cellardoor has a great vibe. We decided on a couple stools at the bar would be just fine. Immediately greeted by our host who unfortunately had been left by himself all day and was really spread thin, but to his credit you would've never know it. He was completely professional and courteous to every guest. The thing I really enjoyed about this place is they have wines from all over Lodi that you can sample and they also do that with their flights as well. It was nice to be able to mix up the reds from different wineries because it helped my wife and I decide if we wanted to actually go to some of these wineries the following day. They also have a small selection of snack plates, but this time we passed but the couple next to us snacked on some cheeses and crackers that looked very tasty. My recommendation while visiting or not is visiting here to relax and sample some of Lodi's excellent wine. read more

What better way to do a tasting for 3 wineries in just one place! We stopped here in the recommendation of a friend. It was a great suggestion. We left with 1/2 a case so the wine was very nice. Loved the atmosphere as soon as you walk in. It was very quite, Thursday afternoon, so we were the only ones there. The Cellar Door is my favorite local spot to take friends who don't know their wine. You can taste three wineries in one location. The wines are very good and some are my local favorites. Try the Michael David "Symphony" if you like a white sweeter taste. Jessies Grove "Chardonay" is a must have! I personally love the "Earthquake" zin or Jessie's Grove "Westwind" zin. The employees are always welcoming and friendly. Music on Friday evenings is fun but in such a small area, kind of crowded and loud. Either way, I love the Cellar Door. read more

I had emailed ahead of time to make a reservation and they had fabulous tables with wine glasses all set up for us when we arrived. Acalia and Heather were great! They were so informative with every wine we tasted and more importantly made things fun for us. I highly recommend visiting them! Every night that I have been to Cellardoor, there has been live music. I normally love live music, but not is such a small establishment as Cellardoor. It is impossible to hold a conversation with someone a foot in front of you while the live music is playing. If they didn't amplify the music it would be great, but with the amps it is way too much! They have a good local wine selcetion and their cheese plates are good. The service is average. I always love the idea of Cellardoor but the overly loud music ruins it for me. Downtown Lodi is finally coming into its own, wine bars, cheese shops, eclectic shopping and dining is to be found. Cellardoor offers wine tasting of several area wineries. The location was nice and service was so so . Our server wasn't very attentive but she did offer a few bits of information here and there. The pours were pretty small, granted it's a tasting but most places offer larger pours for tastings. I ended up purchasing a bottle of wine so the fee was waived (yay!). One thing that impressed me was that I had purchased cheese at the cheese shop next door and when we sat down in Cellardoor they offered to plate up our cheese for us. That is pretty rare so props to them for that. All in all it wasn't too bad, if they worked on making service a high priority they would get 5 stars for sure. read more

So I was in Lodi recently - quick trip to the 209 from foggy SF - and went to CellarDoor. I thought this place was really stinking cute, there is an outdoor seating area, and there was a bottle of Pinot Grigio by Van Ruten Winery on the menu for $16! In San Francisco, particularly the Marina, that is the going rate for a nice glass! I was really impressed and will continue to go there when I make the trip to the Central Valley. read more

The Cellar Door is a nice place but has a terrible manager. Vanessa has had her off nights, a lot more lately, but last night was the last straw! As long as Vanessa is the manager our family and friends will spend our money at another wine bar. Thursday, farmers market night, is always a lot of fun. There is often live music and lots of dancing. We chose the venue to celebrate 2 birthdays and 2 memorials, there were about 15 or 16 of us total. We bought several of our favorate wine bottles and brought lots of snacks. Someone in the group must have brought in a bottle from another winery and drank it with the others. I guess Vanessa was called in from home because of this serious infraction. She demanded to know which one of our dwindling group had done this!? She hurrled accusations at us, threatened to call the police if the perp didn't show themselves...and it just got worse from there. A friendly "hey guys, in the future, please drink only Micheal and David wine and I appriciate the 6 or so bottles you guys already bought. I could get in some trouble with the ATF or something." Problem solved, adults fully understanding business relationship still intact....when we continued to admit that we really didn't know who brought the bottle, remember, some of the party had already left for the night, she unceremoniously THREW US ALL OUT! So, I will continue to enjoy Micheal and David wine, my personal favorite, but will not cross that threshold until Vanessa is gone! And she can take one of the least attentive staffs with her. Not all of them bad...but her personal "hired" personal friends. read more
