What a terrific find -- Yelp absolutely nailed this recommendation. The winery welcomes you with a long, beautiful drive through sprawling vineyards that instantly sets the tone for the experience. The outdoor seating area in the back was gorgeous, but since we arrived early on a Saturday and had the place nearly to ourselves, we chose to taste at the stunning bar instead. We were told it had been imported from a former brothel in New York, which only added to the charm and character of the place. Inside, the winery feels like part antique museum, part elegant wine lounge, filled with fascinating furniture, décor, and unique pieces everywhere you look. It's obvious the owner spared no expense creating such a warm and memorable atmosphere. Sha was our server and truly made the visit special -- such a delightful person with a fun, welcoming personality that elevated the entire tasting experience. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with some issues with my taste and smell lately, so I wasn't the best judge of the wines myself, but the rest of our group thoroughly enjoyed them, and we all ended up leaving with bottles to take home. Relaxing atmosphere for wine tasting in pretty much someone's backyard, that happens to be a vineyard. Their tasting menu had a combo of reds and whites. Great family wines and personable service! We met Mrs. Berghold who came to chat. Such an admirable lady with her pup. Loved this experience quite a lot especially cuz it was with my sis. This is one of her fave places. They allow you to bring your own charcuterie, or you can purchase their unique varieties. Inside are some handmade giftables and a gallery of antique furnishings. Everything was attractive, seriously, even the bathrooms (giggle snorts). During our visit there was a birthday and anniversary from a couple of groups. That tells you how special this place is. A nice winery to visit. There was yard with a fountain in front of the entrance. There's also a cute gazebo on the side. Both cute photo ops. The interior of the lobby was beautifully decorated. The restrooms were clean. We went to check in for wine tasting. We were seated promptly. Really cute view out back. Had a nice, relaxing visit. The best thing or I should say person was Rana. This was one of the most unique and overwhelming interiors of anything I have ever been in, and I loved it. This place is decorated like someone robbed a Hobby Lobby at Christmas. It was so much, and made a great impression. The service was great and we felt like we could have as much or as little interaction as we wanted. First impression....WOW! Very beautiful estate. The tasting room is absolutely gorgeous with all the antiques. I'm a huge antique lover, so I was in awe from when we first walked in. The service is superb. The staff is always helpful and friendly when we visit. Their wines are devine. My favorite is their Crankcase! It's a very good wine. Went a second time with friends and had a degrading experience. On friend has been a member for several years and after having wine at her home from this winery I was thinking of becoming a member. When we first arrived, an older gentleman questioned us about who was the member and who wasn't. He seemed a little hesitant about letting us sit in the fussy "member's only" which made us a little uncomfortable. The wine was great but we needed several more of the tiny glasses of wine to get the bad taste the man left in our mouths. One friend bought a bottle of Crankcase and I bought a bottle of the rose. As we were bringing rung up, I asked if I could have one of their ink pens that was in a box for people to have...."well, you're not a member but since you are with her then you can." Oh gee, thank you for letting me have one of your 10cent pens. Should I kiss your feet too?? We went to Oak Farm Vineyards and had a much better experience!! read more

The best Lodi winery so far. It's our first time trying out some wineries here. This place blew our mind. We came here Saturday around 1pm. $15 for 7 wines. It was busy at the bar area but service was attentive. They have the nicest and friendly lady staff ever. They are very quick and attentive to pour the wines. Generous pours too. They also sell some snacks like cheese in the fridge. We even got to try an extra wine. We could make waive the tasting fee if we bought a bottle. Plus it's 10% off if we got 6 bottles. So we left with a pack of 6 wines. The bottles were priced at good price too. The viognier was $29 and zin was $35. These were our favorites. The zin tasted very fruity and sweet but they said it had no sugar. They have both indoor and outdoor. We just stood at the bar for faster service. This place was cool! Inside the winery had some vibes that reminded me of how my Aunt's house used to look, in a good way. There was a surprising amount of history to all of the decor in there. The wine was also great, almost no misses on the tasting list. The Zin is great and the Crankcase blend is a homerun. The staff was nice, especially in the early morning when we got there. Really good wine for Lodi area. Went for a family members birthday and they treated her to an extra glass for the tasting which was nice! Only problem is its the only winery I've ever been to where the workers don't serve you the tasting. You have to go up to the bar for every tasting. When I asked why they said they just prefer people coming to them. Sounds lazy to me but is what it is. The tasting pours also differed per worker. Some workers poured a lot more wine while other workers barely filled the bottom of the glass. Very nice people just weird about how they go about serving. If you go though refer to Justin! My wife and I bought my mom a Berghold wine club membership for Christmas this last year, and she loved it so much that my wife and I decided to join as well. The orders come very quickly and the wine is always so good. We haven't tried a wine here yet that we didn't love. I want to start with the wine. I can honestly say it's the best I've ever tasted. Crankcase was the first one i tasted and it ruined all other wines for me. After that first glass of Crankcase in a local wine bar I had to have more! I did my homework and it turned out the winery was just 40 min away! So i went there with my family since a holiday decor was advertised. And Oh My God!The place is gorgeous! I felt like i needed to take a picture of every inch there! But it's not even the best part. Wine tasting proved that ALL their wines are 100% amazing. Even the wines i thought i didn't like (Zinfandel, Merlo) I do like pouring from a Berghold bottle :) I signed for the membership on a spot, and I will be coming again. A lot! read more

Very nice winery and surrounding vineyards. The personnel working there are professional, friendly and knowledgeable about their products. We went there on a birthday celebration get together with family. The staff was very accommodating and took us immediately to the club members private seating area as my son and his wife are winery club members. This room is very well appointed with stained glass windows, paintings and art displays. There is even a musical machine that has multiple instruments inside the glass case. It would occasionally play music. Our group was provided with 5 "flights" of their wines they currently offered. I should note there was a food truck in the parking lot and it was "Cousins " lobster truck for those in the know. They offered all types of lobster food items for sale. Although the food was not free it was reasonably priced and very good. All in all if you're looking for a great wine tasting and possibly purchasing some Berghold is a great place to be. Whats not to love about an Italian Villa surrounding in the middle of Lodi wine country...the wines here are always amazing but our personal favorite is the crankcase. This is the first winery I've been to that is extremely spacious, with a lot of unique charm. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the winery, informing us of its history and pointing out the architecture and where certain wood pieces came from. You can shop for items while sampling the wine, or sit outside and enjoy the grounds. Tasting fee is $10 for 6 tastings, or fee is waived with a bottle purchase. I first went to Berghold 7 years ago. It was great. Very nice people, very welcoming. They talked about the wines, the growing process, etc. They brought out a special bottle from the library for us to try. It was great. I went again in April, 2023. It was a much different experience. The mood in the tasting room was sad. We were ushered outside to a table. We were brought a glass and a set of tiny plastic shot glasses, each with a different wine. No explanation of the wines. No discussion at all. The server just left. After 10 minutes, someone brought over water...but said nothing about the wines. When we finished, they asked what bottles we wanted to take home, if any. There was no passion for the wines, no love for the experience. It seemed like the workers weren't excited to be there. This was in sharp contrast to the other tasting rooms in the area, and the previous visit to Berghold. I hope this was just a bad day. But I won't be back unless others tell me things have changed. read more

My first visit to Lodi wine country and this was our first stop. The wine tasting area is beautiful, they let us walk through the Members Only lounge, which was fabulous. Karen was our server, and she was so pleasant and fun. I enjoyed every one of the wines but ended up buying a bottle of Cabernet Savignon and the capitalist Cabernet Sauvignon. One is an American oak, one is in French oak. Our party also purchased a Hypocrite and one of the zinfandels. It was a marvelous experience, and I will definitely be back! Yummy!! read more

What could be better then sitting in the beautiful sunshine, listening to great jazz music and drinking delicious wine? Had an excellent afternoon wine tasting today. There were 5 offerings - a Chardonnay and four reds. I could not complain about anything them with their "crankcase" bring my favorite. I did taste the 2018 Cab Franc, which was a bit too dry for me compared to others I have had. What rounded out the day was listening to the live music, the jazz quartet added so much to the atmosphere! The quartet was en pointe and would love to hear them again! read more

Really nice views and wine. If it weren't for the staff and their judgmental assumptions this place would be so much better. Came with a big group of friends and the staff made it seem as if affording their wine was an issue.
