I wanted to write a really nice review for this winery. It is set in an industrial area and at first we were going to turn around and not go in. I'm sure glad we decided to give them a try. As soon as you walk in you are transformed from cold concrete building to warm, comfortable, friendly, relaxing atmosphere. This was just what we were looking for. Denise was so pleasant and friendly. She made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Now for the wine, my sister and I were both thoroughly shocked that every wine that was presented to us was delightful . Normally, at other wineries, you win some, and you lose some. You don't normally like them all. But this winery is very special. The wine maker definitely has great abilities. I am very sensitive to tannins in the wine. But none of these wines had too much for my pallet .Thank you, Denise and family for a wonderful experience. PS my sister joined on the spot. read more

I love the ambiance. They have snacks everyday and buffets at allured pick up days. We can't forget the merch too! Gotta have that :) The owners and staff treat each visiter as if they are family. I enjoy dropping by when I'm out and about on weekends. Treat yourself and check out their winery. You won't regret it. People do not pass this winery up or you wouldn't know what you're missing. First it's in town surround by warehouses. Small family owned. But the place makes you feel like your tasting wine at a friends home. The son bought the place and is the wine maker. Mom and Dad work the tasting room. Tasting fee is only $10 to try 4 differ wines. And they wave the $10 if you buy a bottle the two of us bought 4 bottles and I didn't see any wine over $28. This lovely family owned winery off of the 99 with the barrel is absolutely amazing Denise, Brock,and Pops are all amazing. if you wanna go to a winery where you feel at home, this is it!!. This place is so unsuspecting, but they truly know how to make wine, and create a welcoming environment! From Sacramento, we planned our day thinking of this place as one of those "if we have time" kinda places, yet it ended up being our favorite and the one we happily purchased the most from. I particularly loved the family business aspect and how welcomed they made us feel. Bonus points because my brother loved the chocolate chip cookies, and the popcorn was delicious. My friends and I had the best experience here yesterday! We did 4 wineries in Lodi and this was our last. I initially was not going to wine taste here, but man I was in for a treat! The winery is located in an industrial business area which doesn't look too appealing, but believe me it's worth it! When you walk in, it looks small, there is the checkout and we were impressed by the free popcorn stand. We were a little late, got there at 405 and they close at 5, but still seated promptly and welcomed. It is all tables inside with a cozy homey vibe. Denise, the owner came over and gave us this amazing charcuterie board (see photos) and said it was for us. We thought it was a mistake and double checked, but she said it wasn't and that was free with tasting!!! It was one of the best charcuterie boards Ive had and she easily could have charged $75 for that. It was perfect because we were hungry, but also great quality with smoked salmon, 4 cheeses, gooseberries, pickled asparagus, honeycomb- just all kinds of amazing things! I've been to a ton of wineries and never seen something like this given out. Brock, the son of Denise was super friendly and explained all the wines and background of this family winery to us! He was gracious and welcoming! All bottles are $23 and 2 of us joined so they didn't charge us tasting fees. Their Barbera was sold out, but I need to go back to try it! All their wines were tasty and paired well. This was such a great experience, go check them out!! read more

The day we were there, they were having a wine club pick up. They had music, food, and laughter, with the owner's family interacting with guests making sure everyone was having a great time. We were directed to the tasting room where Brock, the winemaker, was pouring the wine and talking about the different varietals and the Spanish style wines they offer. Almost signed up for their wine club membership, but hubby said three memberships are enough. At $58 quarterly for good wine, fun times, and amazing hospitality, it's a steal! read more

More and more wineries are moving to Downtown Lodi similar to other cities like Murphys and Sutter Creek. Twisted Barrel moved into their new urban location which is a great option on Pine Street. Street parking is limited, but there are a few lots within walking distance. The interior is great with a large marble tasting bar and several tables. You can also taste at the window looking out on the street. I was able to sample the menu quite easily and found many that were appealing. Their style is more of a Tuesday night wine which is just fine with me! It is nice to see downtown Lodi attracting more options. Twisted Barrel offers an upscale yet comfortable wine experience in a beautiful location. It is tough to give up the parking and view of a rural winery, but this urban wave is encouraging. read more

Hello Sunshine!!! I went this past Sunday 06/13/21 with my friends from work for a wonderful wine tasting day at Twisted Barrel. And I just have to say this winery is exceptional. We felt like family just coming over for the weekend for drinks and laughs. Gail was such a treat! She served us our tastings perfectly, we never felt like we had to wait for anything because she was on it! I'm definitely going to be bringing my friends and family to Twisted Barrel over these next couple of weeks while they are visiting from the east coast. So what better way to show them some of California than by bringing them to this gem! Thank you again for making us feel so welcomed and the oh the wines of course were delicious! So amusingly, they weren't on my giant list of places I wanted to hit up while I was in Lodi over the weekend - I didn't even know they were there, I was there in the parking lot to visit McCay next door (bought a groupon), and popped into Twisted Barrel because it was pouring rain and I totally thought it was McCay :D. Glad I did, though - it was great. Super chill, great wines (I especially loved their Symphony, though to be fair, I haven't had a Symphony I *haven't* loved), and added bonus, they had cookies out for our consumption afterwards (as well as the perfect sort of bland cracker that I *really* needed as a palate cleanser after drinking so many big reds that weekend.) read more

This review is an absolute must. I ended up at this Twisted barrel after the Michael David winery comedy special last night. Oh my goodness what a wine tasting room!!! This place is family-owned. When I tell you that they treat you like family... as soon as you walk in the door I am not lying. All the people working there want to stop and talk to you and ask you where you're from. We had such a wonderful conversation last night. I met some of the most greatest people in the WORLD... I am so excited about my new friends. We had a little backyard patio concert that was off the hook. I met people that came down all the way from New York and we're out here enjoying it. We all talked Loud, sang, drank wine and shared stories. It was an incredible experience. This is definitely my weekend spot although I do live in Sacramento it does not matter. I'm loving the wine culture of Lodi so much. As a Realtor I am really thinking about making that move. I had a blast. Oh and the wine is exquisite. So many aged bottles. This is mine and my husbands favorite tasting room in downtown Lodi! Everyone there, especially Jessica, goes out of their way to make sure we are happy and always give us and everyone else awesome customer service . They have fun events frequently like paint nights, yoga classes, wine and cheese pairings and live music almost every weekend. They have a nice patio area in the back and offer a killer meat and cheese plate and also have food at almost every event.
