Did happen to make a reservation, but easily could have walked in for a seat. We opted for Bloody Mary bar (loved this) and then ordered a breakfast burrito and the eggs Benedict. While the Benedict was good... this breakfast burrito is honestly one of the best I've had in chicago. Very light, even distribution of potato, egg & house chorizo. Their house salsa is *insane*. Such a friendly and clean, casual bar. We came in for a quick lunch, and the beer selection is great! We tried a few hazy IPAs (Retreat was my favorite of what I tried). My bf really enjoyed the Mac cheese and burger. I liked the Mediterranean Salad, but a tad too much feta for my preference and yogurt dressing was thick. The corn and pepita added a nice crunch. Off the bat - Anthony is the best. If nothing else come here to hang out with him. Second, their rotating drafts are fantastic. There is always something new to try and I've never been disappointed. There is something for everyone. Third, I hate people saying somewhere is a hidden gem, but it's a hidden gem, honestly- it is. And let's go ahead and keep it that way. It gets just busy enough and I selfishly like it that way. We come in almost every Wednesday and it such a fun tradition we've developed and always feel some welcomed here. They do have outdoor seating which is pup friendly, but I prefer to sit at the bar when I don't have my dog with me. My absolute favorite app is the beer cheese and handmade chips. Absolutely addictive. The chips are out of this world and the cheese is as if the best beer cheese and caramelized onions had a baby. 12/10 stars I could eat it endlessly. They also have cocktails but with this many good beers on draft and in bottles/cans why would you want to!?! But their gummy bear shot is fantastic. I visit Centennial a decent amount and it's one of my go-to spots to bring visitors for a quick drink. The beer selection is large and always changing which means there's something for everyone. Even my non beer drinking friends have found ciders and seltzers on draft to enjoy. There's also a full bar if cocktails or wine is preferred. I've had the food before and it's pretty good. They have a good happy hour special with a $5 jumbo pretzel. The menu isn't huge but that's to be expected at a craft beer place. read more

I'm so glad I stumbled upon Centennial on Yelp while looking for a cool new brunch place to meet up with some friends stopping in Chicago to catch a flight! We chose Centennial because of their large beer selection (for our out of towners). Although it was a little hot and humid that day, we still decided to sit outside to get as much time outside as possible (summers here are short!). Centennial had a cute out door set-up where each table had their own little designated area. Surprisingly affordable brunch in a prime Chicago downtown location. I ordered the BREWER'S BREAKFAST, which was $12. It included three eggs your way, house-smoked bacon or pork sausage, breakfast potatoes, grilled sourdough. I chose the house-smoked bacon, which was absolutely delicious! The bacon was thick and crispy and the breakfast potatoes, and grilled sourdough were generously portioned. As far as parking goes, there's a lot paid for parking spots near by ($4/hour) or you can SpotHero at a nearby lot for a decent price as well (~$10 for a few hours). My wife and I were in Chicago over the Fourth of July and we were looking around for a good dinner spot. The Centennial looked good on Yelp and we sat at the bar. Super nice bartender poured me an IPA and I ordered the lamb flatbread to go with it. I also got a house salad to get some greens. The flatbread was nice and crispy and the lamb was cooked just right. The salad was pretty huge and hit the spot. This place is a great little "dive" bar. It's decorated with lots of wood and feels homey, old-fashioned and a welcoming place to gather with a friend or two. My colleague was happy with the wine selection, noting that these smaller more beer focused bars don't always have the best wine selections.The bartenders were extremely friendly and willing to offer suggestions and tastings. This is my go to spot after work, which is right around the corner. The staff here is absolutely amazing and it shows, whenever I'm in about 90% of the people sitting at the bar are regulars, and are greeted by name when they sit. In the true spirit of "bartenders are like therapists," they'll also then generally ask you about something we talked about the last time you were in. I'll admit I haven't ate much of the food. But what I have had has been amazing. The wings, the nachos and the pretzel are all things that can easily be bad, but they've been delicious. I would give them all name shout outs, but I know I'd end up forgetting someone and then feel bad. So if an owner or business manger is reading this. I'm conflicted about this place; the beer selection is outstanding, the food is good but the service not so much. Not on the night we visited. It was friday night and the place was crowded; we were told there were no tables available, but could stand by the bar and wait for someone  to leave. This wasn't true: there were 3 tables for 2 empty in the back, and 4 empty seats on the communal table. So we crowded by the back of the bar with about 8 to 10 other ppl. We tried to get a beer from the bartender, but they simply ignored us; they only tended to patrons sitting at the bar. Finally, what felt like 15 to 20 minutes later, we placed our order with a passing waitress, but it took another 8 to 10 minutes to get it. Soon after we were given a seat at the communal table. One of those that been unoccupied all along. Again no service. Another 20 minutes or so. By this time I'm not sure I wanted to eat; however, We stopped a waitress, ordered more beer and some appetizers which came in about 16 minutes, which is not bad, if not for all the waiting for service before. We nibbled on the food with beer until done and not once did anyone ask if we liked it, or if we wanted to order something else. With a rustic industrial decor reminiscent of old bars located near factories and an unparalleled selection of craft beers, this is a beer drinkers paradise; but the service, was less than disappointing. Centennial is the type place I would usually give 5 stars; but at least 2 of these have to be deducted for service, hence my rating of 3. I may stop another time for a beer or two, maybe the service had a night off, and will surprise me next time around. After all, the beer is good. And I may even recommend it to friends, (with a warning) but if I'm hungry, and I want a bite to go with that beer, I will go somewhere else. read more

He Said: Our first night in Chicago and we were to meet a co-worker for some drinks. Centennial was a more-than-reasonable walk from our hotel, and our research on the way into town showed they had a great beer selection. I was craving a pretzel and beer cheese so that pretty much sealed the deal. I saw someone on Yelp mention about the knowledge the bartenders have, and I totally agree. We're beer nerds so we didn't need the "well, what kinds of beers do you like?" treatment, but we asked about locals and got a great breakdown of what was on. I started with a light lager, moved to something else local I can't remember, and finished up with the very tasty Galaxy Bowl. Despite a busy bar and busy restaurant area the bartender was attentive and friendly. He stopped to chat beers when he had a moment, but also left us alone as appropriate. All-in-all, he was great. The pretzel loaf did not disappoint, the beer cheese it came with was exactly what I was hoping for in flavor, though a tad watery, and the mustard was only good. I like it a little spicier and not quite as sweet. We opted for a charcuterie plate with gorgonzola, duck prosciutto, and country sausage. On the one hand the order came out with duck breast instead of sausage, but on the other the bartender was completely friendly about the situation, quickly got us the sausage, and didn't charge us for the extra plate. The star here was the cheese. A mighty wedge jam-packed with flavor. The duck prosciutto was my next favorite with a sort of smokiness accompanying the naturally oily and bold duck. The other two items fell short for me. The duck breast was pretty dry, which seems hard to do, and the sausage was simply "meh". I feel comfortable with giving 4 stars here. Cool space, great beers, good food, great staff. She Said: If you like good beers, you'll definitely want to visit this place. I was very excited to see the Bell's Special Double Cream Stout on tap since we don't get Bell's beers in Virginia, and the Double Cream Stout is one of my favorite beers in the world. That definitely started our visit off well! I ordered something uber-local first though, and it was tasty. As He stated, they have a terrific mix of beers, and there is something for everyone on their menu. I was still full from a larger-than-normal lunch as we made our way to Chicago, so I didn't eat as much of the charcuterie as He did. We went for the Hop Butcher For the World beers that I covet (apparently they're more difficult to get than I thought, both on-premise and take-away) instead of preflighting Riot Fest at Half Acre or Revolution. That was SUCH a clutch decision - not only did we get to prep the palate with some rad hops, our server at Centennial was awwweeeesome, went full concierge mode on our tourist backsides - recommending a perfect parking lot nearby, AND an under-the-radar market around the block where we were able to pick up several HBFTW 4-packs to take home to TX {not to mention a bag of ice, so that some cans of GOOD beer may or may not have been able to be taken into the Festival with us that night...squee!} that we probably wouldn't have been able to get otherwise - legit made our trip way more memorable than it would have been otherwise. We were staying in a hotel near Centennial Crafted Beer & Eatery. We wanted something close that we could carry out and enjoy in our hotel room while watching the Kentucky Derby. Centennial seemed to fit that bill. We stopped by and made our way to the bar. Our bar tender was so laid back and friendly. We ordered up two pints to enjoy while we waited for our food. The restaurant / bar was alive. It was loud and hopping. Everyone seemed happy, even the workers. Our food seemed to take the proper amount of time to come out, which was about the time we finished our beers. We made our way back to the hotel. We were impressed as we opened the to go containers. Centennial seemed to be high class bar food, just from the appearance. I would call it a great gastropub. My husband was pleased with his burger and I was happy with my Caesar salad.
