I had an exceptional experience at Center Cycles, and especially with their owner, Dave, along with his fantastic team. I initially contacted Center Cycles over the phone on a bike I was interested in, and right from the start, I was impressed by his commitment to customer satisfaction. One of the standout moments during my visit was when Dave, the owner, went above and beyond to price match the sale another bike store was having, as well as put the bike together within half a day's notice so I could test ride the bike that same day. Finding a trustable bike store is hard to do and after my visit, I have nothing but a 100% trust in this store. Center Cycles only had a 49 cm size of the exact bike I was interested in (which is what I currently ride) but they also had a 52 cm size of the bike but a higher end model. I test rode both and the 52 cm to me felt like a much better fit. Their bike fitter, along with other Center Cycles staffing, assessed my fit and all agreed that the 52 cm was the correct size for me. Instead of pushing me towards a sale, they prioritized my comfort and safety. This level of honesty and integrity is a rare find in any business. Throughout my visit, everyone at Center Cycles displayed an incredible level of friendliness and professionalism. I have my dad's bike after he passed, it probably sat for 8-9 years in a garage before I started riding it. I rode it a few times during the summer of last year, but nothing long bc the gears needed work due to slipping, chain was dirty, and tires were really bad and starting to split. I took it in to center cycle for a tune up and new tires. The guy said yeah he wouldn't ride on those tires as they were and told me how much it would be for new tires and tubes, I said that was fine. They called me two days later to tell me it was finished and I had my BF pick it up. He said they didn't say anything about the bike when they gave it to him. I was surprised they only charged for the tune up and no tires when I was expecting replacements. When I looked at it the same tires were still on it, the chain looked the same, after riding it, the gears acted the same way and were still slipping . I thought maybe they didn't think the tires needed replacing. I took it on two 15 mile rides. Started to take it out for a 3rd with a 1700ft elevation gain and big decent. Topping off the back tire with air before I left, I noticed a huge piece of my tire was peeling back. There were other spots on the tires where it was starting to split as well. Thank god I noticed before that ride, cause I can't imagine going 40mph down the hill and having my tire blow. This is unacceptable, they literally did nothing to my bike and charged me 150.00 for a "tune up", and sent the bike back with the same shit tires. read more

I purchased my first Specialized road bike from John and Dave in 2015 to do the Seattle to Portland ride. These guys have a great selection, super friendly and honest. I only take my bikes here for tune ups and with the amount of times I ride, it's usually just once a year. This year I'm doing STP again, and recently purchased a bike online as availability is scarce in stores due to supply chain, etc. Took the bike to center Cycle to get it built. We're back again to Center Cycle, after looking online we found that I am in need of a helmet and some more information; one can only learn so much from YouTube. Looking through the helmet section one is met with a mass difficulty of: choice, style, and protection. After trying on helmet after helmet I was torn between two Specialized helmets and decided to go with a more simple style as opposed to one that was more glossy. This ultimately was the Specialized Align Helmet (with MIPS technology)-which stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. Essentially this helps in a crash so when your head hits the ground and your head begins to shear or move to one side, it helps limit the blow. An added feature with this is the option to add ANGI, which is an added safety feature for those who bike alone or out in the back country to let loved ones know they've hit their head and need help (providing a set of coordinates and distance traveled if enabled by the user). Happy with my decision with some assistance from Jacob as well as my Dad, I felt confident in my purchase selection (as most helmets are good for three years). While at the store, my Dad got the bike of his dreams a 2020 Specialized Roll Elite Limited (with a PNW twist), with style and eye catching detail he was sold. As one could probably tell I may have a little bit of the "newbie" itch, in terms of bicycle riding. Perhaps I may come back here to get some apparel. This is a wonderful bike shop with knowledgeable and helpful staff. They stand by their bikes and work above and beyond to make sure you and your bikes are well cared for. Their repair shop is terrific. I have a 2004 Seven Cycle that had issues with gear shifting. I was told by others that it'd need very $ replacement of drivetrain components. I called about a previous year Santa Cruz Chameleon and I believe talked to the owner. he said it is the last one in Med mullet Blue for $1400. I said ok I will come take a look. The next day I drive 1 hour to get there. Entering the place it has a very weird vibe. No music, salesmen just hanging around. A skinny salesman finally comes over and I ask him about the Santa Cruz and he says $1800 I believe. I told him I was told $1400 and to please check. He goes back to the owner who I spoke with I comes back and says...I am sorry we SOLD that one yesterday but this one is $1800! On the phone the owner said It was the last one and all over the sudden there were 2?? I said tell him to come out here. The salesman goes to the back and stays there for like 15 min then just goes back to the desk? So I walk over and say so what did he say? He just kind of looked away and sad sorry he says is $1800. I did not like being lied to so I told him to go back there again and you tell him to come out here and explain to me this phantom bike! He went back there and the owner still would not come out but after 15 min again the salesman comes back out and starts to unchain the bike. I have to ask him well what happened? Very pleasant first experience shopping at Center Cycle. I needed to replace my road bike (rim brakes) wheelset and didn't want to spend too much money given my plan to replace my nearly 7 year old bike once manufacturing has somewhat recovered, in 2022 or 2023. I struck-out with Gregg's through no fault of their own. I called Center Cycle and they told me they had a new set of Roval SLX 24's in stock for the standard price of $800. I arrived at Center Cycle and decided to ask David which other wheelsets they had in stock. While their supply crunch is similar to most other bike retailors, they had one additional new set and a lightly used set of Chris King HED Belgium Plus wheels -- priced at $500 -- which I purchased. After finishing my first ride, I am certain I got a great deal on an excellent pre-owned wheelset. The other work they performed was relatively simple (new stem and derailleur adjustment) and was completed (successfully) for a reasonable price. Worth the drive from Bellevue! read more

Wish I could go 3.5 stars here. Center Cycle didn't do anything wrong, but buying here leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Like you just cheated a good LBS that really wants your business out of a sale. Starting with the good, they have an enormous selection and really great prices. Most bike shops are bound by manufacturer MSRPs. At least that's what they tell you. Nevertheless, Center was able to undercut the competition on some recent models. My gf and I bought two bikes in one transaction, and they were able to go really low on a 2017 model since it's no longer considered a current year. The bad, you really get the impression they couldn't care less if you buy anything or not. One employee, I'll refer to him as "the twerp", about 19ish just stood around until we were ready this buy. Didn't offer to help, answer any questions or really do anything. A real prime target for replacement by self-checkout lanes. Got the owner's kid vibe from him. When we finally checked out, after spending $3000, there was no thank you or offer to help load up. About the level of service one receives at Walmart. The one thing that actually annoyed me was how quickly they forget you when you're out the door. Case in point, after getting our new bikes loaded. I noticed my water bottle was empty. So I walked back inside and asked if they had a place to fill up. He responded "not really, sometimes we have water bottles, but those are for customers. You can grab some tap water in the bathroom if you want". Seriously, did you already forget that 5 minutes ago we bought two bikes? Guess you're no longer a customer post-sale. So that's it, nothing went wrong. I got a good bike for a good price. I should be happy but still left perturbed. Honestly, doing I again, I'd find a store that I actually liked, and get them to price match Center Cycle. read more

My husband and I came into Center Cycle primarily looking for a bicycle for him (but I knew I wanted to browse a little for myself as well). He spent a lot of time trying out all sorts of bikes and asking lots of questions, and David was super patient and helpful the entire time. He was incredibly knowledgeable about bicycles, suggesting different options and styles, and he was really friendly and personable. My husband didn't end up finding a bike, but I did! I put it on hold while we went to a few more shops, but I came back later that day to buy it. I ended up getting a Specialized Sirrus Sport Disc, which is an awesome bike for me, as it is a bit of a hybrid and can be multi-purpose. It's a great bike for commuting, fitness, etc. I will be back later in the month to buy some fenders (and maybe some racks), as I get 10% off gear since I bought a bike there. My husband is still debating what type of bike he wants, but he definitely knows he has a few good options he could choose from our shopping time with David. Overall we had a great experience at Center Cycle. If you come in to explore the different bike options, definitely ask for David (there is an owner named Dave, but David is who we worked with). My awesome local Cyclocross-racing Acupuncturist friend Hidi highly recommended Center Cycle when I told her I wanted to get a new bicycle for exercise. I did some online research and finally visited for the first time on a sunny Spring day. I walked in and was greeted by Cody. I told him I was looking for a bike that was most of all comfortable and mentioned the Giant Sedona that I read about online. A few moments later I was outside riding around the huge parking lot area and I knew that it was the bike for me. I've never been on a more comfortable bike in my entire life. That Giant Sedona ST is described as riding like you're floating on clouds and it's true. So then I ended up picking up a bike rack also and Cody, Dave, Greg; it seemed like half the crew - ended up helping me get the rack on my car, put a water bottle rack on the bike, etc., even though there were a buncha other customers in the building. I was spoiling myself bigtime by just walking in and buying all this stuff, and their amazing customer service just added to the whole experience. I can bring the bike in for a free tuneup in the next 6 months, so that's awesome. I can see why my bicycle-loving friend recommends this place and now I do too. read more

I bought a beautiful black carbon fiber patterned Specialized Amira approx a month & a half ago and I love it & I trust Center Cycle. They took the time to allow me to test ride all the different bikes and explained the difference between the pedal options & shoes. I also had an excellent experience getting fitted by the Specialized expert Dave (it felt like I was in a PT office), measuring & customizing my fit to make sure that my bike fit with my body. Right now, the bike & I are one and its a great feeling. They absolutely will not sell you a bike that does not fit... I wanted to buy a new Giant Avail w/ D2i, but after trying to fit into it, it didn't work out (too big)...but we found the Amira with Ultegra was best for me. They have a huge selection of bikes and accessories and I've since bought other clothing items which they have called/ordered. I'll probably do that for my upgrade in the future for my carbon fiber S-works bar. There are closer shops which I could go to, but I really like these guys so I go out of my way to shop at Center Cycle. They are sincere; they are not pushy, they let you take your time and ask questions. The prices are great and most of all, I like their willingness to go out of their way to answer my questions. When you want a bike you need to take your time & you want the guys to take care of you/the bike, its not just the moment you buy the bike, its the relationship afterward that's also impt (ie: warranty). read more

I was a bit hesitant after seeing some of the negative reviews, but I recently went in to shop for a couple of kids bikes anyway. In the past we've gone cheap or used and since they're getting older I wanted to get something of higher quality. Came in on a Sunday and it was busy. Employees were already helping other customers but said hello and let me know they would get to me. It didn't take too long to get someone over to help us, and within minutes the kids were in the parking lot trying a few different bikes. One of the things I appreciated was the employee's help with answering my question about going with an adult size or kids size for my oldest. One of the bikes wasn't available in the color my daughter wanted, so they took the time to show us everything available and gave me a timeframe for delivery. I came here today to buy bike shoes with pedals. I've never worn bike shoes before, but decided it was time since I started training for the STP. The guys here were absolutely amazing, and so kind. Once I found a pair of shoes, they put the pedals on my bike for me. Then they gave me a tutorial on how to ride with the shoes. Let me tell you, if I hadn't had them spend time with me showing me how to ride with these, I probably would've broken a bone by now. They must have spent 20-30 minutes between in the store and out in the parking lot with me making sure I could get the movements down and felt comfortable enough to continue practicing on my own. Never once did I feel stupid. They even ran beside me to catch me in case I started falling! Thanks so much guys! They don't care about (or even appreciate) their customers. Terrible service, every single time I've gone in no one pays attention to you. From 6 years ago till now, and several times in between, they don't care about their customers. Five workers all in the back looking at a single bike. I walk around for 10+ minutes till I walk out and say "see ya later", then a manager and worker come out to check if I needed something and said they had one guy at lunch which is why no one helped. Four years ago, I had twin girls with new Christmas bikes. Bizarrely, my car was utterly incompatible with any bike rack/carrier known to man or god or ganesh. Yes, I googled. Gregg's just sort of shrugged. Nada. I went to Center Cycle. 'Tis true, there isn't always a heidi-ho-neighbor kind of greeting. The plus side: you can wander around and touch things without feeling like a leper. When I hunted down help, the owner actually spent the time, standing in the parking lot one drizzly April afternoon, educating me on the 97 ways a bike carrier/rack would be unsafe. He invested a lot of time in making me smarter and yielded zero dollars in the process. I *finally* got a car and a bike carrier and wanted to upgrade my folding bike to real bike. I went to Gregg's. No greeting. But then I touched a bike and someone came zipping over, quick like rabbit, to make sure I didn't touch anything else. Gregg's sometimes feels like Neiman Marcus for the bikeshort set. Told them I had a $500 budget for a commuter bike. "You know, if you can afford $800 this one would be perfect for you." Um, no. I'm a twin mom. Extra money? Pffft. Happily, I returned to Center Cycle with Thing 1 and Thing 2. Again, we got to touch things. Good lord, Thing 1 tried on every glove in the store, because that's what an 8-yo needs, competitive cycling gloves. ha ha. Cole educated me on the difference between the super cute bike I had picked out online and showed me a great hybrid by Liv for $420. Woot. It's a sweet ride, I super appreciate the shock absorbers and 24 speeds! Helped educate me AND keep me in budget. They get all my bike $ from here on out! Cycle Center of Renton is a very good choice because: 1. Definitely has a broad and unfathomably big selection of both road and mountain bikes, especially if you are either a Specialized or Giant fan. There is a small selection of Santa Cruz bikes. 2. Big selection of parts, especially tires, clipless shoes and helmets, including full face helmets. Also, bike racks and trailers too. 3. Almost, just almost everybody comes across with knowledge of mountain biking. 4. Pricing is 'sort of' negotiable under the right circumstances and if the person happens to be the owner. 5. You can shop online for a bike and their inventory system is pretty good as I've tested it as a customer and then went there to see if the bike is still available. 6. Many times during the bike racing off season, you can get a stupid good deal on a bike without haggling. Best time to go: If you plan on test riding, wait for a few dry days. You will not be able to test ride anything if it's wet outside or damp. However, that store has a lot of indoor real estate and you can spin it around inside. Why the 3 (more like 3.5) of 5? Customer service isn't always consistent. Sometimes, I've rolled in there and the interest to help/interact with you feels like whether you were having a heart attack and dying or outright stealing a bike in front of them, you could go unnoticed. You can be a regular there and still not have that relationship but I don't know if you have to spend a lot off the line either. The overall: If you are in the market for a road or mountain bike without much pressure, this is a pretty decent choice. read more

Pity I couldn't give them zero stars as there was ZERO customer service. I was one of two customers floating around aimlessly. When I asked for assistance the young boy couldn't help and had to call someone else. I then asked another guy for help looking to buy a bike and he too had to call someone else to help. If I was Specialized I would revoke their distribution rights. They are doing damage to their brand. Personally I buy into the shop and their staff and then the bike brand. If the shop up the road sell trek and gives me great service I will ride a trek. Bikes are not cheap and I expect a higher level of service and expertise from a bike shop. read more

A lot of bikes and accessories worth checking out! Very nice facility that's only a few years old. It's very close to IKEA just west of SR 167 ("Valley Freeway"). My personal experience has been hit or miss with this shop for having common misc. smaller repair or replacement parts on-hand (such as a style of barrel adjuster for a brake cable or little bits like that). I wish it were one-stop-shopping for anything bicycle related because I'd always rather spend my money at my LBS (local bike shop) than with a faceless online retailer. Still, I try them first, because I'd also rather save on postage or gasoline/time compiling repair parts for my latest project. I've known folks who get tremendous deals on bicycles and getting appropriate accessories to get them set-up for commuting, fitness cycling, etc. I believe they offer a 10% discount on accessories when you're buying a bicycle from them. The most important thing to remember when getting a bike is being fitted not only for your physical height/size but also to what type of riding you're intending to do. I believe this shop has staff who can help riders new or experienced find the appropriate bicycle for them at a price they can afford. read more
