Having had dogs for almost 15 years, this Vet has been the most accommodating, helpful, and easy to deal with. Highly disappointed in the service we've received for our pug which has been rapidly decreasing over the past few years. During our recent visit a few months back, we were told that during his checkup that he had a slight ear infection. Upon the vet's suggestion, they sold us an ear medication which ultimately cost our dog a good portion of his hearing. His hearing was perfectly normal when we took him in and after a period of time, we noticed he was not responding the same way he would. When someone told us our dog seemed like he was deaf, I looked up the medication only to find out that the VERY FIRST WARNING for the product was hearing loss! If we would have known this, we would have asked for some sort of alternative or sought another opinion. After calling the vet today, they told me that we could bring him back in to be evaluated, but only at our cost as they would not be waiving any fees for something that would appear to be negligence on their part. We've been bringing our pug into this vet for nearly twelve years and yes, there's been a lot of change with this place. We should have stopped coming a few years ago when they prescribed him a flea / heart-worm combo medication which was on the recall list and almost killed him. Now, this happens. I'm done! It's abundantly clear that they have put the care of your pet aside and are only out for your money. This place is probably one of the more costly locations in the city, to begin with. This clinic was terrible. When I brought my newborn home, my cat started to show increasing signs of anxiety. I visited this clinic after trying everything I could think of at home. The vet, Dr. Dundie, immediately pushed gabapentin, which turns my cat into a zombie. I refused, and received little additional support. After a normal exam and blood work I was charged almost $600. This is ridiculous. I've been a pet owner for over 30 years and have never been charged anything close to this, especially for a visit that DID NOT include any vaccines/shots. The clinic expects owners to have insurance or not care about the sum. There was no budging with their rates. This is unacceptable and I will never be visiting this clinic in the future. read more

If you love your pets, please do not take them here. My cat had a little (a pinpoint) drop of blood in his stool so I decided to take him to the vet. I had just moved to the area and took him here as it was right around the corner from me. My first visit had me in tears. The front desk had a massive attitude problem and was more interested in the kitten they had upfront and goofing off than actually helping or assisting in any way. The doctor was not friendly nor communicative and did not do his exam in front of me. That should have been my first indicator. I paid over $600 on my first visit to be falsely told my cat had gum disease and that all of his teeth would need to be taken out. I then received a phone call to come back in as they had misdiagnosed him and to please come back to the clinic. I came back to the clinic and was then given the diagnosis of diabetes. $1500 later (not including the cost of insulin or needles), and I am in the emergency room as my cat was having multiple seizures. They tell me he doesn't need insulin and that I have been poisoning him. I can't even begin to express my horror with this clinic. I was giving him a $300 insulin shot twice a day. They did not take accountability or responsibility for their actions and are still charging me for an outstanding balance even though it was not correct diagnoses. DON'T GO HERE! read more

I haven't been there in years. Want to make an appointment because of a specific vet there... and this is what I was told. They STILL HAVE CURBSIDE SERVICE. YOU CAN'T GO IN WITH YOUR BELOVED PET. It's time they stop that! ...It's getting old. I understand that a lot of their clients are getting sick and tired of this protocol...and I've no doubt they're starting to lose business due to it. I was also told they're renovating...again. They are clearly making A GOOD BIT OF MONEY ... because when I was there last ... they were doing a full blown out renovation. In truth, I don't like this vet. I remember how condescendingly I was spoken to by Dr Solomon. I know I look like a little pixie ... but looks are deceiving. Never judge a book by it's cover. If you don't know someone well .. be careful ... because you may well be having the wrong attitude/conversation with the wrong person. Thankfully Solomon was not my vet. His demeanor shows a terrible lack of consciousness, decorum on his part. And, in addition, he has an awful bedside manner. Can't say enough about Dr. Moon and Dr. Leonard. We had an issue with our cat and it was pretty urgent, between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Both Dr. Leonard and Dr. Moon were available to discuss and helped us get through the episode. The cost for an exam is now $160. That's what I was quoted as a follow up to walk in the door, 5 months after a $400 physical with blood work! The vets who are the partners are good but currently they lack communication skills or as it seems to me, they had them and lost them. Communication with the owner is an important part of veterinay care. Due to poor communication, which leads to misunderstands an adversarial environment can develop. Who wants to have delivery of medical services in that kind of environment? After trusting this practice with the care of my pets for decades I will be moving on. I have been going to CVC for over 18 years and they are amazing. I can truly say that I love all the veterinarians and staff. They are prompt with their great advice and care. I was in Florida a few months back, and Dr Courtney Leonard spent time on the phone with me over a weekend checking on the meds that were prescribed to my dog, all his symptoms and asked for a follow up call after the weekend. She is smart, caring and very honest. I think she is fabulous and highly recommend seeing her if you love your pet! read more

The vets at Center for Veterinary Care have been great to me over the past several years. The one *exception* is Dr. Alexandra Dundie, who is newer to the practice and extremely unprofessional. I complained to the office staff about her behavior. They apologized and said to feel free to write about her on Yelp because this isn't the first time a client has complained about her. Dr. Dundie was the vet on call when I had urgent followup questions, as my dog was still experiencing acute issues and not eating. I was very stressed out about my dog's situation. She took the full day to respond, and she was very hostile. Dr. Dundie interrupted me non-stop and ranted off advice that was the *opposite* of what my regular vet suggested. I kept telling Dr. Dundie to read my dog's chart so she would understand my dog's history and see what my regular vet suggested. My questioning her authority escalated her hostility towards me. She continued to bark conflicting advice and even shame me when I told her that her requests are highly unreasonable and also in conflict with my regular vet's instructions for acute care. She also attacked my regular vet for giving her extra paperwork. Again, the rest of the docs have been fine. Just avoid Dr. Dundie, who seems to have a track record of being highly unprofessional. read more

INSANITY IS THE WORD!!! If you hate your pet, great place to visit. Went to see Dr.Richard Green, of course had to go through the "everfamous front desk", however that's a separate issue that currently worries me least. The doctor, Green offered me same day surgery where my dog would be put under full anesthesia which is fine by me, certainly. Note: regardless recent stroke according to him my dog didn't need a bloodwork, where every vet in the country would disagree with that. When i mentioned the bloodwork/e-xrays (the usual)the answer followed, i can do it if you like now before the surgery. When i replied i believe its a protocol of safety to have blood checked at longest a week prior to the surgery, Green replied, all looks fine. That is a neglegent and i confirm NEGLEGENT least to say dangerous to the dogs health statement to make. In fact my dog hasn't been feeling well last couple of weeks and I found that the bloodwork prior to the surgery shall not even be optional but MUST be done. Green said he can do it "IF" I like. What???? The next reply was that he has someone next door with three pets waiting to be seen. ANSWER: DO NOT OVERBOOK YOURSELF, DUH. Right now checking with the New York Magazine how has he made it there as an amazing surgeon. Veterinary Board Complaint paperwork has accordingly been requested. Something is quitely wrong with that particular office/doctor. PLEASE NOTE TO YELP, DO NOT REMOVE MY POST, IT WILL BE REPOSTED MOMENTARILY AS IT'S BEEN COPIED INTO MY FILES FOR LEGAL COMPLAINT. Back in the day was a good place. Recently I'll say this, the place is dirty, the staff is oblvious, and the doctors have become careless. Had consultations with some of the younger vets a couple of years ago and they were not good at all in that they missed MAJOR problems with my dog. Then one of the owners, used to be a reputable--famous even --vet---and personally, in my opinion, he was negligent to the point my best friend lost her life. Can't prove it but he showed up and started the surgery hours late and then gave her a drug I asked him not to. Go some place else. read more

As an owner who does not have knowledge, why would think different when a veterinarian tells you that your dogs is sick and needs xyz... well guess what, some people are super dog savvy and can call out a vet on their bs diagnosis that are put into place solely for getting $$$. I had an excellent experience at this vet. Highly recommend Dr. Cavanagh.. he's got years of experience, genuine dog lover with 5+ dogs of his own.. extremely thorough, doesn't push vaccines and medication. Took the time to understand our lifestyle and then make recommendations and offer opinions based on that. Price was very reasonable compared to other vets in the area. They didn't charge extra for cutting nails (most places charge $20).. also cleaned pups ears, and trimmed hair in the inner corner of the eye all included in the visit. Another plus is since it's a hospital, they can run tests while you're there rather than waiting a few days to hear back. Best of all, my pup loved him! read more

We brought a puppy home August, 2016. We conducted an informal survey. 1/3 of our neighbors use Park East, 1/3 of our neighbors go to CVC and 1/3 go everywhere else. CVC had slightly better on-line reviews so we went with CVC. We have been happy with the vets we have seen Dr Herman and Dr Leonard. Many of our friends and neighbors also use Dr Herman and Dr Leonard as their primary vet. Our furry baby has had great service/treatment at CVC. Dr Herman has since move to his own practice. We will take our fur baby else where. Dr. Herman was the draw to CVC. I have now dealt with several vets at Center for Veterinary Care, and my appreciation stands. They have all been outstanding. Right now, most of my interactions are with Dr. Nims, who is helping me with end-of-life issues with my terrier. Dr. Nims knows I love my dog and frankly, she could have soaked me for thousands of dollars as I try to prolong the inevitable, but she has not done that. She has been very compassionate and very ethical. I trust her implicitly with my dog, who is quite a handful. I continue to highly recommend these veterinarians. read more

I had a Brussels Griffon named JC and we had been a client of Dr. Solomon's for 7 years. I just want to let everybody know how disappointed I am with how my dog ended up under the care of Dr. Solomon. My dog was misdiagnosed over years and I truly feel if I would have got a second opinion earlier my dog would be alive today. JC was struggling with coughing over years that was diagnosed as chronic bronchitis as per Dr. Solomon. AMC Vets came up with a completely different diagnosis. JC had serious issues that progressed that I was never told about, that completely surprised me. How is it possible having yearly check ups and doctor visits with coughing symptoms and not getting a right diagnosis for years? Really sad! AMC concluded Jc had a heart base mass, collapsed trachea and pulmonary hypertension tension that Dr. Solomon never diagnosed and treated. AMC discovered this the day after I went to Dr Solomon!!! 4 days later my dog was put down. I thought my dog is getting special care and not just a number. I was wrong. I strongly suggest if your pets health is important to you please avoid his practice or always get a 2 nd opinion. As Dr. Solomon was our primary vet I had full trust that JC was in the best hands and care. Deeply disappointing and sad to find out how poorly his diagnosis was. I have been taking my small dog to Dr. Rutter for about a year and a half and she is great! Very warm, friendly, and attentive. Whenever I have left her a message about my dog, she has always been prompt in returning my calls. I have also had other appointments with some of the other doctors who were good as well, particularly Dr. Jankunas. I have had mixed experience with the assistants at the desk, which is why I'm giving the place 4 stars instead of 5. Sometimes they have been very friendly and helpful, and other days completely the opposite. I think it just depends on who is working. read more

I was very upset with Dr. Gene Solomon care plus Enormous amount of money for nothing. He did not explain what is going on with the pet, He was talking to me that am 6 year old child, very abruptly, always want to run away and close the door and every time I have to pay for this his fast service without result of blood tests, without explanation of x-ray. When I came first time with my dog, I told him to do all tests which is important including Lyme. After my third visit I asked about Lyme disease . he told we can do it, but I said, it was done on my first visit charged $80.00. O, He said, it was on the house?!! He did not help my pet, He forgot that We came because my dog did not feel well, He did not offer different treatment and He spoke to me like I am imbecile. Every time He was saying " next week come again for the shot! Because test for Lyme disease was done not in my first visit day and I paid money for this test. I did not get result right away. When I asked Dr Solomon about the result 2 weeks later , he sad ok let's do it today and charged me again. The same day he called me and said my pet has Lyme didease. 2 weeks later. My dog died today probable from something related to Lyme or analasmosis. It reminded me post office when You are buying stamps: " Do You need some envelopes. I really liked Dr. Leonard and the care she gave my cat. I called the office today to make an appointment. The first call I was 'put on hold' but hung up on. Called again. There was much background noise & laughter. I told (Gabby?) that I found it very distracting. I was told it was a very busy office. the worst!!!!!! from the office manager to the woman vet they gave me the wrong dosage of predisone for my dog i was supposed to give a whole pill for 5 days then the dosage was lowered for the next 10 days they did not have one whole pill . the pills were all in tiny pieces i had to have the pharmacist at duane reade refill the prescription the correct way. my dog could have been gravely ill as a result. years ago i used dr schwartz but he is very rarely there i had a vet who did not even say goodbye and had zero concern. she called me once after i complained about the error in the prescription it is all about money there read more

Dr. Leonard and the staff are amazing. She takes care of our cats and pups and has always gone above and beyond what a normal vet will do these days. Our cat, Dean Martin, was losing weight and everyone was concerned. She arranged for us to get an ultrasound super fast and at a reasonable price. When it was determined he had cancer, she called a special feline oncologist to make sure we were following the best protocol and then called us to follow up. He has been feeling great with his chemo and is healthy as ever! The entire staff is amazing. I have even rushed in to pick up meds after they closed on a Sunday evening and they accommodated me. Who does that? They do! I can't say enough great things about her or the entire staff. I am thrilled with the care my pets receive and the price is very reasonable. Why did I write this review after the many years of amazing care? She and the entire staff deserve it. From the office manager, the front desk and all the techs and of course the other vets.
