I contacted Aaron on yelp regarding my p0341 check engine light. After reading numerous forums, I feared for the worst and thought my timing chain needed to be replaced. Aaron told me to bring in the car just to make sure it wasn't something else. After a day, Aaron called me and told me after testing all the sensors, they thought it was indeed the timing chain because all of the sensors were working. Then the next day, Aaron called me again and told me after checking the timing chain, it was tight and does not need to be replaced and instead told me it was the VVT control valve that needed to be replaced (even though they checked all the sensors before and said it was good). After replacing the control valve, I picked up the car and was happy that the light was off and saved a couple hundred bucks ($688 for the timing chain vs $400 for the control valve). Unfortunately after a couple of days of driving, the same check engine lights came back on and here I am again back at centerline for more diagnostics. I returned to centerline on 11/8 to check up on the problem. Aaron told me one of the connectors was damaged during the original repairs so I waited in the lobby for 2 hours while he replaced the connector (at no charge which was nice). I went home thinking everything was good. However when I was to gas up the car after dinner, the very same check engine light came back on with the same error code, p0341. Returned on 11/15 to centerline to get the code checked again. Aaron claimed after research there was a filter that might be clogged which would cause the code. He took out the filter, and lo and behold, it was NOT clogged and in fact it was fairly clean. This is when he told me to go to a dealership. And this is when I had the suspicion that I was bamboozled. I went home and tested the old VVT solenoid and of course, it works. I came to centerline from quite some distance because Aaron called me and seemed to have glowing reviews. But ultimately failed to fix the problem I came to his shop for. In fact he replaced a seemingly working valve that does not cause the code. And I'll add some more snippets too. I was charged $150 for the solenoid ($40 part) and $250 for labor (3+ hrs). After some research, the solenoid replacement job seems to be 1-2 hours. I have no doubt Aaron has the mechanical aptitude to do most automotive jobs, but in my case he was unable to fix my car and charged me for some seemingly extraneous parts/labor. read more

Back in October my 2001 Ford Expedition was running poorly: low fuel economy, slow acceleration, loss of power, etc. I also had a check engine light on which I also checked at Auto Zone. I called centerline automotive and spoke with Aaron who assured me he would figure it out. Both Aaron and Auto Zone suggested a tune up. I've had vehicles in the past that I've taken for tune ups and Aaron gave me a better deal than I've had in the past. Within a few hours my truck was ready and running stronger than ever. Let me tell you what happened. So I have a Toyota FJ Cruiser that wasn't sounding right and let it go for a couple of months. My wife was driving 2 miles to the train station so I thought it would be fine for a while. When I got back in I noticed immediately it had gotten much worse. I went on Yelp to read reviews and see where to take it. I found Centerline Automotive. It had great reviews and when I called Aaron gave me a good price and was super friendly so I went for it. The tow truck came over and as it drove off I couldn't help wonder if I just sent my second largest investment off without even validating the driver. About 30 minutes later an unsolicited call from Aaron just to confirm receipt of our vehicle. I was so grateful for the call LOL. Then they completed the job early and Aaron called and advised me that it was done. He then advised me that the pulleys for the serpentine belt were making a lot of noise. The same noise we heard before the alternator went out. Aaron advised me it was able to be driven, but advised to get them done ASAP. I then asked if he could hold our vehicle until Saturday when we got paid and he assured me that we could leave it and it would be done by Saturday. Thursday he called me to tell me our vehicle is done no sounds and it sounded great. All done with the price he quoted. Saturday morning rolls around and as I'm in the shop he takes a call from a random person and Aaron begins walking him through the process of what I assume an A/C recharge and the guy on the other end had no clue. He advised the person on the phone to take the $25 can back to where he got it from and for a few bucks more he could have it done there at Centerline Automotive and ensure it was done correctly and to ensure not to overcharge it. Excellent and courteous costumer service. My wife's car would not start on this very cold sub-zero morning after Christmas day. I Google repair shops in my area since we just moved in to the area and were not familiar with any repair shops. The first search that came up was Centerline Automotive. Since it was so cold outside I figured the car just needs a jump start. So I called Centerline and Aaron answered the phone, I asked him if it would be possible for someone to come out and give my car a jump. Since it was so cold out I thought it be difficult to get someone to come out. But not Aaron, he ask me were was I located, luckily I live about a mile from the shop. He told me that he would come out and give me the jump. and yes, he arrived waiting a few minutes and started my car. He also checked my battery and Alternator with a portable volt meter and noticed that my alternator was not charging the battery which was causing my battery to die out. He offered to replace the alternator at a fair price and even gave me a 10 percent discount. I took the car to his shop and within a few hours my wife's car was fixed a new alternator with a life time warranty. I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing repair on their vehicle. We recently purchased a car from a nearby auto store. The vehicle had some substantial rust on the back roof. We were referred by the dealer to a place nearby (Tiger Auto) I did not get good vibes from that place. The waiting room looked post-apocalyptic. Now I understand you're walking into a mechanic's office and not a spa, but it just screamed "no" to me. The sealing of my taking business elsewhere was when the owner had no problem lighting up a cig in my presence without asking if it was ok--INSIDE the front office. Could you take off a couple hundred of the work to pay for an iron lung for me later? Granted, he was nice. But that doesn't necessarily make for a good business. So we left. Because we'd had a substantial drive I didn't want this trip to be for naught. So when Yelp and good service collide it makes for a beautiful union. I called on a Saturday afternoon when most places have been loooooong gone. I spoke with Aaron. He was super nice (even asked my name) and told me to bring my car over. He looked over the spots and told us what he would realistically have to do. He said he would never "guarantee" a rust job. Makes sense. We live in the Midwest and rust is part of our lives. He was upfront with what to expect from this work. He even offered (unsolicited, but very welcome) to look over our car and check for anything that might need to be fixed. Decent, very decent. Because of unforeseen events our car repair took a little longer than anticipated. But it was ready when we really needed it and Aaron kept us up to date with what was going on and was SUPER accommodating. The body repair looked great and our back brakes don't squeak anymore. I was recommended here by two of my co-workers who speak very highly of Aaron and how honest he is, so I went here almost 2 weeks for a repair recommendation by someone else that had looked at my car, Aaron and his staff looked over my car and advised me that at that time the problem I thought I had was not present at that time and that specific repair which was over $400 did not have to me made at that time, however he made some suggestions on normal maintenance work that should be done soon, so at that time I got an oil change and a great under car clean up of oil which was reason for my visit just not a present problem. I had a great experience working with Aaron and I will definitely use him in the near future, he could have very easily made a $400 unnecessary repair but he obvious is not in the business to rip people off! I created a Yelp account to write a review for Aaron and his business. I need everyone to know how great of a job Aaron did on my car and how reliable and trustworthy he is since I, like many others, am very skeptical of mechanics, mainly stemming from the unfortunate run-ins with shady mechanics that my friends and family have had. First I want to give a little insight on what was wrong with my car. A few months ago the check engine light on my 2014 Chevy Sonic came on (conveniently as the Chevy warranty was coming to an end) which I semi-ignored and kept telling myself I'd get it checked out when I had the time and money. A month or so later the car started to act up after I would put gas, occasionally not starting, but would start after waiting a couple minutes. It progressively got much worse, to the point where I had to wait for fifteen minutes to half an hour before the car would start again, which is when I decided to look for help. (I should note that it didn't matter how much gas I put or what type, it literally was EVERY TIME I put gas, the car just wouldn't start right away) To make a long story about finding mechanics short, I decided to look on Yelp and came across Centerline Automotive. I saw the reviews and rating and thought what the heck, let me call and see how I feel about it. I made the decision to take my car to Aaron within the first two minutes of our initial conversation. He was transparent, knowledgeable and overall not condescending like a lot of the mechanics I spoke to before him, so choosing to work with Aaron was easy. I took my car last Thursday night after hours to drop it off, he called me Friday morning to let me know what the issues with the car were (bad purge valve and vent valve), let me know the price and asked if I wanted to get it fixed or wait, and that went a long way for me. He wasn't pushy about fixing it, he really left it up to me. Without hesitation I told him to please fix it. He finished up within a couple hours of the call and let me know the car was good to go. I drove it a lot over the weekend and honestly it feels brand new!!! I live near Comiskey Park aka Guaranteed Rate Field, and Centerline Automotive is Bensenville. It's a 40 minute drive if there is no traffic, I am willing to make the trip every time from here on out if/when I ever have issues with my car as should you all. At the very least have Aaron take a look at your car, I guarantee you will not regret it. I have already referred him to my family and friends! What can I say? I shopped around, did my Yelp research as well and found a place I trust. Trust can be so hard to have when there is something a person needs done and he knows little to nothing about it. Aaron gave me confidence over the phone. He was in the ball park for pricing. Not the highest and not the least expensive. I trusted him and was willing to pay a little more than the lowest bid to get the work done. He is very fair and he and his guys are open as to what is wrong and what they would honestly recommend. I was shown things before having work done and had explanations given as to how things work and what did and did not need replacement which was contrary to other folks who wanted to replace everything even if replacement was not necessary. So instead of just a ball joint replacement they got me for a replacement of all breaks the same day, and boy did they need to be replaced too. Another thing I needed was a valve stem replacement. No they don't do those necessarily but ask. Instead I was referred to another place who did that repair for under $20 when I was told by another car repair place it would cost $80. For fairness in pricing, honesty, transparency and just plain down to earth guys who tell you like it is I will be going to Centerline and recommend that you do too. read more
