    Fresh warm bread rolls
    Paul M.

Ye Olde Centerton Inn is one of the oldest restaurants in New Jersey; since 1706! The place needs a facelift inside and out. Very antiquated. The service however was very good and their food too. I had the Filet Oscar style and it was done how I wanted it. The bread rolls were warm and delicious. Their calamari was fresh and crispy. The salad is one of many favorites and has lots of garlic so be prepared. All our dishes were good and tasty. Nothing to complain about except the need to remodel. Will definitely be back!

Terrible food , old and run down looking . A shell of it's former self. Pricey for what you get.

Another great evening at the Centerton Inn. My crab meat pasta was delicious as always. The inn is always our go to for a nice night out.

Came here with the hubby for some lunch on our way towards the shore. We sat for a bit when someone…read morefinally brought us menus. The server was friendly, although overwhelmed. There was no direction of whether to order at the counter or be seated. Hubby ordered a salad that he asked for with chicken but when it came out about 45 minutes later, there was no chicken. I ordered a salad and a mini hamburger- it was advertised on a Kaiser roll, but came out on two slices of bread. When I ordered it, I asked for it medium rare, but it was well done when it finally appeared. Disappointing. The food tasted fine although my hubby's chicken tasted like charcoal. About a half hour after waiting, the people next to us were told there was no roast beef. They adjusted their order and got their food before us, although we ordered before them. A bit strange. While I was waiting for our food, I walked inside to see what kind of things were for sale. They had balsamic vinegar and olive oil which were nice. The vinaigrette was really good and we were told they used the balsamic from it. However, on the shelves in the back, there was a cruddy jar of something that no one would buy. I picked it up not realizing it but put it back. I am adding a picture of the flowers. They were very nice. They should put some work into fixing the signs around that were peeling.

Not fine dining per se but an exceptionally fine experience that makes the hike to Salem County…read moreentirely worth the petrol. A cozy, picturesque location offers a "greatest hits" liquor-first menu of burgers, steaks, chops with Asian-fusion afterburners. Certainly not what I was expecting but I really liked the mash-up. In an age of overly weened, focus group inspired restaurant concepts, there's always a place for a true original. Five easy stars for the Lake House.

The view and atmosphere and 5/5, absolutely beautiful…read more The people who gave this anything over a 2/5 have no conception of what good food is supposed to be: so please be mindful of reading 5/5 reviews as their drone/bot/npc opinion means nothing to those who have that appreciation and understanding of what good food is supposed to be. If you're someone looking for an elevated dining experience, namely entrees and appetizers that don't taste like bland sysco/big distributor bundles, this is not the place for you. If they are not using big distributors, then they have bigger issues to worry about because the food is honestly not good and overpriced; one shouldn't pay that much money for inferior food. The "brown butter" gnocchi dish was a 4/10 and seemed out of place with the other items on the confusing menu (no real theme or pattern to the food offered). The service was horrendous too, in case you were wondering. To the owner or managers who should have/should be doing this: go sit at every table and order food if the menu; notice the little problems at each: the chairs being too narrow on the patio (i'm not even a chud so idk how heavier folks manage this), the tables being not level, the soggy Caesar salads and appetizers falling off the cheap plates that are too small/the wrong shape for the food item....get a notepad and write down the issues. Little things like this influence your guests stay and experience and it is not difficult to fix them. There is such potential at this place and the owners need to get better, elevated, and high quality items on the menu with real chefs to see it through. I would not recommend this place to anyone, but if you're a bot you'll love it.
