I've been using the self wash stations for a while now and have even bought the package for multiple baths. However, there has been a slow decline in the cleanliness and amenities offered in the bath. There once were shelves with towels readily available for use now you have to ask staff for towels and they only give you two towels, if you have a larger dog with a thicker coat this doesn't necessarily work. They seem to never have cotton balls for the ear cleaning, most of the time don't have slip collars available to use while bathing your pup. My main concern is the visible mold on the bathing station. read more

I've been here for the dog wash and as another reviewer has said it's done down. To get the slip collar you have to give them your ID or phone. I'll buy my own for next time only because I bought the punch card. There are no towels. I brought two of my own but needed more so they gave me two which are really thin. They had the ear cleaning supply but no cotton balls, and there's mold in the tub I used. It used to not be like that and I'm fine paying the increased prices when some of the basics are available. read more

This review is about their self dog wash. I have been coming here intermittently for years. This week we came and things have changed and not for the better. They now offer various levels of self wash depending on the type of shampoo you want, which was fine. When we arrived there were 2 tubs being used. We took the other 2 tubs for our 2 dogs. There were no more aprons left and only one washing collar left. Isn't this a pet supply store? You have 4 sinks and only 3 collars, why not just get one from the back? We had to use our own leash to secure our dog in the sink, which made it all wet. We also had to ask for towels which they were weirdly stingy about. Previously there were stacks of towels on a rack. Some dogs need more towels. They only provided 2 threadbare towels per dog. They never had combs or brushes available, which wasn't a big deal before. But now the whole experience has declined significantly. We won't be back. read more

I stopped in for the first time to pick up some non grain dog food. The store was clean, simple and well stocked. When I arrived at the dog food section, I was simply overwhelmed by the selection. The store manager was very helpful in guiding me to choose the right food for my two furry boys. The food I chose was on sale so even better. I wish they sold duck feed. This would be my one stop shop. They only had bird feed available. Nice place. Will come back. Only see back is the parking. Not so convenient coming back out into the busy street. read more

Been coming here for since they opened for the bathing system. I bring my own medicated soap (you know because furunculosis is real) also bring my dremel and brush. Today employee told me I'm no longer allowed to Dremel or groom what so ever? I didn't know Dremeling and basic brushing was considered grooming? They now have a sign posted on the wall. They already have gone up in price for this, and now I can't do the basics I have always done? Thanks but guess I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

We went there this week to wash our two dogs. They provide a tube with a small ladder to put your dog in. Shampoo and conditioner. Towels. Ear cleaning solution(you have to ask for cotton balls) and have a blow dryer station. As we were leaving they ran out of towels and did not have any fresh towels to replace them with. I would suggest bringing your own towels. Overall, it worked out very well. The cost is $17 per dog. However, if you sign up for their email specials they send out coupons for a $5 dog wash. read more

I got the punch card for the dog wash because it's such a great deal! I only come here for the dog wash, and it's honestly been a lifesaver. Super convenient--they provide everything you need, and the place is always clean. The staff is really helpful too. There's plenty of parking, which is a plus. I usually try to come early in the morning, though, because it can get pretty busy later on and some of the pups don't always get along. read more

I've been a faithful customer of Centinela for 5 years! Love the employees and the space, however noticed in the recent 2-3 times I've gone for the self wash station, the water when I bathe my dog has been cold. The first time it was a busy day and all 4 tubs were being used. I figured it was because of that but the recent times when I went and only 1 other tub was being used, the water was cold even when I had the hottest temperature setting on. I notified the floor supervisor but wanted to write this to hopefully get upper managements attention to address this issue. Considering we're paying $17-25 bucks for a warm bath and bathing supplies, warm water missing sucks! Hope this issue can be resolved because my dog and I love going there. read more

I give my dogs Answers Raw Goat's Milk every morning for their breakfast and Centinela has the lowest price I've found (inflation really raised the price at where I used to go to before Centinela) . Added bonus is that they periodically have sales which has made me a regular customer! I usually shop online and opt for in-store pick-up. The staff has always been helpful, checking my ID and packing my pet food in double-layered paper bags. On the few occasions I've shopped in-store, everything went smoothly--until today. When I went in to purchase my pet's food, a blonde female staff member asked if I needed bags. I said paper bags would be fine since that's what they've always used, and I like the eco-friendly approach. She told me they didn't have any. I had reusable bags in my car, so I offered to grab them. After returning and checking out, she just stood there, making no effort to pack the items. I found it odd because this has never happened to me at this store. I'm not sure if it's store policy to refuse packing with a customer's reusable bags or if this was a one-off experience. Her indifferent attitude didn't help, and I didn't feel like asking further--I just wanted to get in and out. If it's the store's policy not to pack with reusable bags, a clear sign would have been appreciated. While their store and products are great, this encounter left a bad impression. If you're shopping in-store, I'd suggest avoiding this particular staff member to ensure a better experience. read more

I usually go to the Mar Vista location and never have issues there. Had an interaction with a girl this morning that wasn't very dog friendly so I cancelled my purchase and left. Was going to buy some dog treats since they didn't have any dog hair lint rollers. Won't be back. I'll look for other options in the area. read more

I had only been to the Costa Mesa location prior to my visit here last week. I placed my order online for pick up, and decided to check out this location since it is more on the way home for me. The online ordering process was easy and super convenient. Upon my arrival, one of the store clerks acknowledged and helped me right away. My order was double checked for accuracy and they even threw in a couple of treats for my cats (& c'mon. what cat would say no to treats?!). They informed me that the order online and pick up in store option had just launched last week so it seemed that I was one of the first people to experience this feature. Their store was kept really clean and they abide to Covid protocols. There is a sign outside that asks patrons to wear a mask upon entry (no mask, no entry) and clear signs are marked on the ground to encourage social distancing. She insisted that I not give him table food it no good for him, I should put him on raw food. I know I said to her but the I cook is just for him , not from my plate. They're supposed to know about animals and can make appropriate suggestions, I love this location in particular. Super easy parking. I usually pull up front and it makes it super easy to load up and take off. (Remember to bring your cart inside. The items are laid with all dog things on the left. Cat things on the right. lol I always use the Yelp check in offer -$5 off treats. I give those treat bags away cuz my dog can't even get through them quick enough. They have the frequent buyer program for Acana and Taste of the Wild. Those are the only ones brands I know, cuz my animals told him. And they usually have a gift card giveaway. You have to purchase $xx to get a gift card for when you turn. read more

Two times in the last two months I have driven all the way here only to be told by an employee (today 4/28/25 and 3/30/25). I arrived an hour and a half before the posted "last wash". I cant say enough how much I love Centinela. Centinela is one of the best pet stores around, not only do they have amazing over the top customer service, but they have great prices and amazing products. Centinela offers a lot of brands that aren't available at any other pet supply stores. I love when you walk in there are treats lined up for your pup to enjoy. Something that I really enjoyed was the self-wash station. Right before we came in we took Luna (our pup) to a dog park and she got extremely dirty, literally there was mud all over her, so where she was white it was def brown. When we walked in the staff again was over the top friendly and told us that we can wash her first so there wasn't a rush to pay. Upon walking in I noticed the waist high washing stations with collar hooks, detachable hoses. It was a nice change to not have to bend over and practically break your back to wash your dog. They provided all sorts of very good smelling shampoo, conditioner and detangle brushes. The shampoo varies from no scent to anti itch. We lathered her up with the good smelly kind and went to work to get her clean again. It was actually way quicker than giving her a shower at home. We towel dried her and led her over to the air dryers. It was nice the time we went because we were the only ones there so we got to double up on the air dryers. I loved the way she came out. Not only was she SUPER fluffy but she smelled amazing. The self-wash is $15 and after some research that's on the cheaper side and you can add on additional treatments. I looked up pet stores near by where I live and this store popped up. So my partner and I decided to swing by along with my Doberman/Great Dane mix puppy. I noticed the self bathing station and thought that was a cool idea. They have everything you need for your pooch ! The price for the self bathing station is VERY affordable ( $17 now). We looked around and the supplies were also very affordable ( way more reasonable than petco and petsmart). This store used to be my go too store, I loved all the items and I absolutely loved Sonya and Jacob they were always so knowledgeable. Dolly was also a very sweet girl. Such a bubbly personality. I went to ask a new employee some questions and she had no idea what she was talking about and neither did one of the supervisors. Jacob took over and helped instead. Don't know what kind of "training" goes on here but the staff treats it like they're selling you a Hermes Birkin bag here. They need your birthday, mother's maiden name and the blood of your first born. I don't know why it's so difficult every time we try and pick up OUR ORDER we paid for with delivery/pick-up instructions. They don't care about all that, don't care to read it and is very rude about it all. If they were nice and accommodating sure, but if we have information about the order and literally order from them at least twice a month, where's the customer service for loyalty? You guys swear you don't remember the customer names? The girls at the Long Beach location are much nicer and understanding but I do not want to keep spending my money here when they make it so difficult to literally pick up my order and get it delivered. I spend thousands here and the hassle is just too much. I'll stick to Chewy. They have great customer service and don't ask about my whole life when they assist me with my orders. One thing I love is that they offer just as many products for cats as dogs. Owning both dogs and cats myself it's great to see that I can bring home goodies for everyone. Once you feel like you've gone around the whole store and are ready to check out you see the whole line of fridges with even more food options along with their clearance section. There are always good deals on treats and the like to bring home to your pets for an affordable price. The pet shower service they offer is also amazing and a bargain. You can bring your pet with you on a leash and they will give you everything else necessary for $20-30 depending on which shower package you choose.
