Greatest selection of paczki for Fat Tuesday, several different flavors and fruits. They really do a great job. It's worth the long lines. I usually get the traditional raspberry and sometimes the strawberry cream but my Polish friends insist on the Rose.

I have grown up with Central Continental Bakery, but it is honestly not my go to bakery for anything but colored bread for Easter and Thanksgiving. This particular visit, I was shopping because I had won a $20 gift card from a local trivia night. I decided to get some butter rings because they were $1 off for a Friday special. I also snagged a 1/2 price bag of butter cookies to make sure I used up the entirety of the gift card in one visit. Also, it was comical how the butter cookies offset the giant butter rings. I am aware of their card over cash policy, but I was surprised that I was charged $1.70 of my $20 gift card for swiping it (I paid the remainder of my bill cash) because for my brain, it is a cash equivalent. The butter rings--we are chocolate chip, mini M&M, and sprinkle--were buttery and delicious. They paired perfectly with coffee and a cold glass of milk. The butter cookies were also nice!

Small-local- not a chain- go support!!! For the pros: Great service overall. The Black Forest cake was delicious and beautiful and they did an excellent job. Donuts, apple fritters, and eclairs were very tasty. The custards were yummy. Cons: Place was dead, not one customer to be found on a Saturday morning at 7:30am. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. No prices anywhere other than the boxed goods or coffee signs. 4% fee for using a credit card which I get, but have it posted better. Couple small signs I caught over by the fresh stuff saying price tags reflect cash price, but yet didn't see prices anywhere other than on shelves by boxed stuff. Have prices posted. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.

I usually only come here when it's time for Paczki fest at Central Continental Bakery. I love that they offer a bunch of specialty flavors on top of the traditional Paczkis. If you want to be in and out, make sure you pre-order, as this year I was in and out within 5 mins! Tasted great as always, looking forward to next year!

A work friend of #1 daughter claimed paczki heaven was located in Mount Prospect. How could this be? Smack in the middle of the paczki festive time, we made our way to the MP bakery. There was convenient parking (spaces available) with vehicles coming and going. As we approached the store, there was a stream of customers entering. Inside, numbers were available to be taken. Quickly, we placed our order for several varieties of paczki. Just as quickly the friendly server filled our order. Everything in the store looked quality and looked fresh. Being only very slightly disciplined, we waited to get home to sample. Of course, the drive back home was filled with enticing aroma. First bite and more? Heaven!

The good thing about not knowing how to bake is that you get the opportunity to purchase cakes from places like the Continental Bakery. The bad thing about not knowing how to bake is that you also have to roll the dice with the many local or commercial bakers who also make cakes. Continental bakery is by far one of the highest quality bakeries in Chicago if not this region. We have purchased many cakes from many other bakers and none of them come even close to the quality, and construction of their delicacies that you will find here. The cake is always very light and they don't use traditional frosting that you find with most bakeries. Small storefront with a couple tables serving up an assortment of international pastries from friendly staff.

We love this bakery! We get cakes every year for our daughters birthday, and they are consistently wonderful quality and talent. Highly recommend!

This is a great local bakery that carries a lot of traditional and staple pastries and baked goods. Enjoyed them on a random weekday as I stop by in the morning and just chose items to bring back to my home for some breakfast visitors. Everything was flavorful and decently sized for the price. I would consider coming back again because it is local and closer for me than some of the other bakeries are used to visit in the city.

Not the best option for local baked goods. There are better donuts to be had. Apparently they do a good job on cakes.

As the person who has to order them, pick them up, and deliver them to the respective households, I really appreciated them having a dedicated "Paczki hotline" to pre-order, a very organized pick-up area, and heavily filled treats. Something for everyone! Ample parking lot AND a drive thru window! Satisfying portion sizes. The bad: if you snooze, you'll lose on the donut variety, so plan accordingly! I actually got up mid meal to purchase our donuts bc several customers came in between the time we arrived and the time we would've been ready for dessert. You can catch me snoozing at 6am, but not at donut o'clock! The ugly: the cream in the Boston cream donut used to be (atleast a couple years ago, at another location) reminiscent of a true vanilla, pastry cream or custard, but this Boston cream was an IMPOSTER! The cream inside was a slightly greasy, artificial tasting whipped topping that was atrocious. My 7yo rejected the French twist donut she picked bc it was a bit dried out and tasted nutty for some reason. Maybe it was touching other donuts in the process of being made or had some kind of cross contamination. I don't mind nuts, but the staling texture was off putting. This visit didn't live up to the Niles location, and can't wait until the little Glenview shop reopens.

There was plenty of seating, the tabletops were a little dirty, the floor had crumbs, but nothing gross. Approx. 5 mins later a girl popped out of the back wearing a T-shirt, called my name (yes - there was still no other customer in the store) handed me a box, and didn't say anything else. I asked her for a bag so I wouldn't lose my mochi donuts as I dodged traffic on AH back to my car. She bagged up my box and handed it to me. There was no hello, no thank you, no have a good day, not a sound except for my name. For about $40 a DOZEN (after tax), I would have expected some sort of customer service. I really hope this was a one off, not the normal for business. The donuts were good. They were fresh and chewy. The flavors popped and were a nice treat. However, for the cost and lack of customer care, I'm going to keep looking for another mochidonut location. At almost $4 for a donut, come out and say HI! My wife and I had always wanted to visit them ever since then and we finally did after about 10 months. The place was small and charming with lots of neeat chocolate creations, as one would expect. We sampled a couple different chocolate pieces and as far as I can tell, they were good. I say that only because I'm not a huge chocolate person, and I don't have a huge gauge on what's good vs great. Since our main purpose of the visit was for donuts, we went ahead and orderes half dozen "premium" donuts. Turns out, the box that was gifted to us was a custom mix of their premium selections, which are fancier donut creations that require a bit more finesse and efforts for them to create. Apparently, you need to order ahead if you want to have a good mix of a dozen, which we didn't know. So we ended up picking from the available ones. They were still a good variety. I don't actively seek out donuts, but if I craved one, I'd definitely seek out Morkes.
