What a memorable pit stop! We pulled in expecting a quick bite and were met with the warm welcome of Angie--the friendly blonde server you might recognize from other reviews. She was fantastic and definitely didn't fit the vibe some negative comments suggest. Her service was outstanding--she even opened our bottled waters for us! Prices were super reasonable. We each went for three loaded chili dogs, and they hit the spot. The chef even joked, asking if he'd "thrown enough grease on there"--exactly the kind of cheeky fun you'd expect from a great hot dog joint, not a five-star steakhouse. The atmosphere? Unforgettable. From vibrant locals selling clothes outside to a half-asleep gentleman on a nearby bench, and stories of flying plates courtesy of the kitchen staff (you'll have to ask the chef yourself!)--it all adds up to a one-of-a-kind experience that somehow just works. Even 13 year veteran of this establishment were learning every day The cook was in awe over a lockable microwave. If you're up for great food and a few laughs, this place is a must-visit. Planning a party? You can grab 12 loaded chili dogs for just $30--a steal! We'll definitely be back to try breakfast next time we pass through.

"regular" size chili Mac. Enough for 2 it more lol

Tasty chili dogs and hot crispy fries. Cheap and hearty. They make their own chili and it's excellent.

Best hot dogs around. Breakfast plates are Hugh and great. Can't eat there that's the only problem.

I loved the paprika and sour cream sauce. I ordered the roast beef sliders with the horseradish aioli on the side. They were amazing! I wish I could cook roast beef like these sliders. (I learned about the sliders on their website promotions page.) My husband had the Classic Hot dog with macaroni and cheese. He ate every bite! We ordered the Lemon Strudel with ice cream for dessert. I loved the signed buns hanging on the walls. Fun decor! I am glad that I was able to come here for the very first time.

Her partner at the time was deeply into pickles. And Packo's is almost synonymous with pickles. If there is any doubt, stick your head into the gift shop. As good as everything is, the pickles may be the best part. For the sake of full disclosure, I am still continuing to dial in my perfect order at TPs. I think I was pretty close on the last trip with stuffed cabbage and a Hungarian "hot dog" with chili, onions, and mustard. Personally, I find adding this cheese to these hot dogs does not add much beyond calories and fat (and not the kind of fat that equals flavor, there is already plenty of that in the sausage and chili). But the hot dogs come with pickles. And they are magnificent. It's kind of like the fun that comes with eating shishito peppers. You never know which one is going to be the spicy one. The spicy ones are especially delightful. One of these days I'll get the fried pickles. I am sure they are divine, and may bring the place up to 5 stars. But I need to bring a crew with me, and regrettably, my family just isn't into this type of cuisine. For me, the stuffed cabbage tapped into some ancient ancestral memory and brought me an unreasonable amount of joy. So it goes. Personally, I found the pierogi to be a bit dry, but my basis for comparison is Polish. Perhaps this is precisely how pierogi are prepared in Hungary. But the bottom line is that Tony Packo's is a regional treasure. If you haven't been, go. If you've gone, visit them again. These are trying time for restaurants and if we do not support them they may shutter. That would be a tragedy.

Tony's opened later than Rudy's, so Rudy's it was. The staff was nice and accommodating, and while I did look at the breakfast options, I decided while in Rome...get a dog at a place called Rudy's Hot Dog. I had a dog with chili, onions, cheese, and mustard. It was pretty darn good. Beef...breakfast of champions?

Jeeeeez, this place is FILTHY!…read more As I was waiting for the hot dog chef to acknowledge my presence, I was looking around the food prep area and noticed that the place was filthy. There were bits of cheese, sauce, and mustard all over the prep area where they make the dogs. There was grunge all over the grill and the floor was dirty. As I was "received" by her majesty, the hot dog chef/queen, I saw her place my dog buns directly into the cheese, sauce, mustard grunge on her prep area. I asked her to start over and to place my dogs on a plate, not the prep surface. Seriously, the kids need to learn that these surfaces need to be wiped down after every order or at least when the surfaces become soiled. As I rounded the corner, I went to grab some silverware. Soup spoons and knives. No forks, no teaspoons. I also noticed that the milkshake machine was also encrusted with goo. As I waited for the cashier to pay up, I waited and waited and then waited some more. He was busy helping the girl assemble someone's drive through order. So, he was handling money and food... Nice. I never saw him (or anyone) wash their hands. At this point, I'm not sure why I didn't walk out. I guess I was just really hungry for some hot dogs. So, I used to go to Rudy's with my grandmother every other week or so. She loved hot dogs as much as I do. She passed away 10 years ago, and I really slowed down in how many times I would go to Rudy's. Grandma couldn't see or I'm sure she would have wanted to go elsewhere. That said, we usually went to the Rudy's on Sylvania or on Summit. They were the cleanest. Now, the other Rudy's really need to clean up their act and clean prep surfaces as needed. They need to sweep and mop the floors and clean the equipment before the end of the day (please confirm it does get cleaned at least once per day...). I can't say that after eating my 2 dogs that it was worth it. The "kids" working there were rude, the place is filthy and it was $10 bucks for 2 dogs and an order of onion rings. Next time I want chili dogs, I'll just make my own.

The interior is a step back in time to maybe the 70's. Lots of indoor seating. You order at the counter and wait while they prepare it. There were also 5 adults in line, but not all together. None of them were able to order because a small middle aged man, who appeared to be in charge, was screaming at a young man who was also behind the counter. Most of his language consisted of cuss words. The family folks quickly asked that the screaming and cussing be stopped. The young man who was the target of this tirade also asked the supervisor to stop this behavior in front of the children. Within a couple of minutes, those of us in line, rapidly left the building, in fear that we may be soon witnessing a physical fight or worse. On the way out the door, we were asked by those in the drive through what the hold up was. When they were told, they started to leave. Thought that ownership should know what is going on at this store. This situation was totally one sided. No one should have to put up with that kind of treatment.
