Could this be my last Liquor Store review from out NYC-Newfoundland-Toronto to Vancouver (by Train) Trip? I hope so, as figuring out the various State/Provincial liquor laws (like New York) could drive a person to stop drinking! Central Perk sounds like a coffee shop out of "Friends", but actually it's a nicely stocked and attended wine shop just south of Central Park. And it was on our walking way from the Met back to our Midtown Hilton Hotel. Wine prices trended a little high (based at least on our occasional Grocery Outlet Bargain Market standards), but there was a number of affordable bottles, of which a very nice rosé was our choice. Store staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience here. I attempted to order a bottle online, and their website gave me an error and did not fulfill the order, but nevertheless charged me for the bottle. I called and spoke with a gentleman and he was completely rude and unhelpful: in so many words he said it was not the fault of his company or his website but a different company that runs his website, engaging in quite the act of blame shifting. He began to raise his voice and told me "what do I expect" because it is the week between Christmas and New Year's. He then said that he would contact the company that runs the website and "call me right back." He never called me back and it is 24 hours later. To make matters even more dubious, I see that the price of the bottle that I was attempting to order has increased by $200.00 since I called. It makes me wonder if this wasn't all an attempt to extract more money out of me. I would highly suggest staying away from this business. If you look online they have many complaints. read more

I really want to buy a bottle of wine, sell me! It could have been so easy, I wanted to buy! I walked in and did get a luke warm greeting and a feeble can we help you. So I dive in and say, I'm looking for a Pinot Noir, and here's what I like, I point to at least three bottles on the wall, I also did the same with a couple rośe bottles stating that the ones with more color seem to hit the mark more often. He pointed to one Pinot and one rośe and didn't say much, as I recall he said, "there's this and this." Okay, what does "this" mean, and how is it like that, that of which I pointed to that I said I liked. I wanted to try something new, I wanted a recommendation, I didn't want to pull out a wine app for details. After all the this and that, he left me to stand there, so I headed for the door, not even a goodbye, perhaps they didn't notice. I went in there to get a quick single serving wine container with my three year old who was a little fussy and wanted something to drink for himself in a store that didn't have anything for him. I called Central Perk from a LA to have a gift delivered to a colleague in NYC and they were so helpful! From helping me pick the bottle, to wrapping it, and writing a note to include. After calling and confirming they could same-day deliver, placing the order online was really easy. My note wouldn't fit in the allotted space so they let me email it over. And they were even gracious enough to get my delivery out before 5pm although it was already 4! Really great staff, this is now my go-to for NY corporate gifts. read more
