I've been a patient at Pleasant Street Dental for 7 years now. Anastasia has cleaned my teeth every time and I've had cavities filled by both Dr. Zylber and Dr. Stiller. Some of my teeth are extremely sensitive and cannot even be cleaned without pain, so Anastasia expertly administers anesthetic. Everyone there knows me, they know I need the anesthetic, and I never have to explain myself or insist that it's actually necessary (which I had to do at previous practices). When I make appointments they remember my special circumstance without me saying anything. (They also don't confuse my extremely sensitive teeth with "dentist phobia", which is a real problem, but not the problem I have, and in the past dentists have tried to "calm me down" as if anxiety was the problem, which it really isn't.) Everybody at the practice has managed to remember that my husband and I are married, even though we don't have the same last name, and they often ask each of us about the other and remember our stories from previous years. Both Dr. Stiller and Dr. Zylber filled cavities quickly and without pain. I'm especially fond of Dr. Zylber's manner, but they both did a good job. Yes, they recommend certain brands, but they never give me any trouble whatsoever when I go out and buy/use whatever brand I prefer. read more

Aside from the great magz & music, this place is very efficient. Ive seen two of the hygenists for cleanings & they are beyond thourough. They praise me for using my sonicare & flossing. (which makes me feel good!) lol I recently had a crown re-done by Dr. Zylber. When I went in for the consult he told me that I really did not need to redo the crown. That it was doing the job perfectly. IIIIIIIIIIII wanted it redone because I didnt like the color, shape of feel of it. So I made an appointment to have the crown replaced. I LIKE THAT HE WAS HONEST WITH ME. I did have the crown replaced & im SO SO SO HAPPY WITH IT! The color is perfect, the shape is perfect & it feels just like my other teeth!! This is a true honest dental office & I love going in there. They are like friends & not "just my dental office". Everyone is really nice & super friendly. A friend recommended Dr. Zylber about twenty years ago and I've been there since. He's in a class by himself, with a warmth out of Frank Capra and a skill befitting someone whose practice falls midway between Harvard and MIT and anchors the Central Square neighborhood he has worked in for so long. As a web developer I'll interpret the three 4-star reviews as happy customers who can't quite bring themselves to rave about a trip to the dentist. I can. Not sure what to make of the other two commenters. May everyone be so lucky to have a hygienist who advocates hygiene and spends 30 minutes doing a thorough job. As for the brusqueness of the receptionist, Donna, clearly they didn't read the fine print on their college acceptance letter. Brusqueness is simply the Boston accent. Donna is friendly, proactive, flexible, and, like Dr. Zylber, will go the last mile in working out a payment plan. read more

Central Square Dental is the best dental office I've been to (and I've been to quite a few, as I am no youngster!). The staff are warm and friendly. They treat you as a person, not just a patient. They listen to your concerns and preferences. They also take your budget into account and do not try to "upsell" you or engage in shady billing practices, which is quite a relief. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and immediately puts you at ease. The walls are adorned with lovely photos and original artwork. The office is located in a lovely house-type structure, not a typical office building. Yesterday, I had a cleaning with Ashley, the most personable, thorough and gentle hygienist I've ever met. I also had a consultation with Dr. Zylber, the most warm, competent, and humorous dentist ever. I highly recommend this practice on all levels. read more

This past year I have been to the office countless times. First I had a front tooth crown from my childhood redone in January by Dr. Tran. It came out great. Unfortunately, I had a little accident with my dog which damaged a nerve in my adjacent front tooth. I ended up having a root canal, zoom whitening, and 2 new crowns put in. My teeth now look amazing and I could not be happier with the results. The office is always quick to get me in for appointments and also helpful when it came to financing all of the work that was not covered under my insurance. All of the staff at the office were kind and helpful throughout the process. Thank you Dr. Tran, Marcela, Marta, Robin (for teeth cleanings), and everyone else! i have been a patient at Pleasant Street Dental for 31 years. you can tell i've been pretty happy there if i've stayed that long! Moose Zylber is a highy skilled dentist and a great person who will tell you the truth, discuss the pros and cons of all options, and not try to sell you treatment you don't need. he is always fair about fees and will work with you on payment if need be. (Gary Stiller was just the same before he retired.) the Pleasant Street staff are invariably welcoming, reliable and professional; appointments are typically kept on time or very close to it. dental cleanings are always efficient and effective. i recommend Pleasant Street Dental very highly to anyone looking for a dental practice for the long term. read more

I've been a very happy patient of Dr. Zilber for about 20 years, through crowns and root canals and regular cleanings--always found a warm welcome and excellent care. This past week, I started having problems with an old (pre-Dr. Zilber) crown, which past experience suggested there was either something stuck under the gum line, or something more seriously wrong. Flossing, brushing, mouthwash etc failed to remove it, so I went into the office for help. Literally 10 minutes after dropping into the office at 4 pm unannounced, I was being seen by Dr. Zilber, had an X-ray taken, and was assured that the problem wasn't serious. He'll replace my 40 year old crown next month, and saved me a weekend of worry. read more

I am the type who really sticks to a dentist once I find a good one (I have only switched either upon moving to a different state or when people retire) and so was very glad to find this place about 10 years ago. (I now commute 50 miles round trip to go there -- worth it!) Dr. Zylber is great and I've even had the same hygienist, Anastasia, all those years too! (When she's not been in, the other ones are great too) My boyfriend is *very* paranoid of dentists and he loves them too. As far as the billing stuff mentioned in some reviews, I think they handle all that just fine, and I've been sometimes with no insurance and sometimes with Delta Dental. Great place! :D read more

My husband and I moved up to Cambridge 15 months ago and I was very negligent in going to the dentist because I was looking for a good one. I would ask my colleagues "do you have a dentist you recommend" and they'd all respond "not really." Finally one of my colleagues said absolutely and today both my husband and I had appointments at Central Square Dental and I'm happy to say 'We've found a practice we love." From the warm and friendly greeting by the receptionist, to the fabulous dental hygienists, to the dentist himself - all fabulous! Dr Zylber has been my family's dentist for 20 years. He has saved us thousands of dollars by taking the time to fill cavities rather than insisting on crowns. He took the time he would have spent on a crown prep and filled the cavity and charged me $75. His work is impeccable and never had a problem with any work he did. No billing problems for any member of the family. Anastasia is my hygienist and does a great job keeping my teeth healthy. The staff is friendly and it may sound crazy but I always have fun there. I've been seeing this office and Maurice "Moose" Zylber for 40 years, and am glad to report that since becoming Central Sq Dental in the last year or so, the office has maintained its trademark friendly and professional staff. Alyssa the office manager is great, and Sumaya the hygenist for my last visit is very knowledgeable and makes an extra effort in her work. I have been a patient of Dr. Zylber's for over 30 years! He is an incredibly talented dentist and does excellent work. Anatasia has been my dental hygienist for about ten years and she is thorough and personable. This week, I moved to Vermont and I am heartbroken that I have to leave "Moose" (Dr. Zylber) behind. Getting hit by a car left me very insecure about my smile. My search for a dentist lead me all the way to Dr.Yazigi. Kind and professional he has helped me finally be able to smile without covering my face. It's been a long road but with the help of Central Square's team I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. I've been going here for a decade or more and it has always been a reliably positive experience with both the hygienists and doctor Zylber. They also have been good with my kids and have a convenient system of giving appointment reminders. There's been a little turnover in staff in recent years, which made me skeptical, and some of them also work in another (Newton?) office, but that doesn't seem to have hurt the quality or care. read more

Dr. Gary Stiller is the best dentist I ever went to in my 65 years!!!! He is a thoughtful, kind and competent dentist. Back in the day, my dentist(s) would cause me much anxiety and pain. While visiting in Boston, I had a crown break off. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She got me into the schedule quickly. Dr. Stiller was very nice and placed a new post and re-cemented my crown so I could continue with my vacation without a space in my front teeth. His fee was fair and I feel very luck to have found his office. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Maurice Zylber and Gary Stiller, are the two Dentists in this practice. Both are highly competent and yes, pleasant. I've been going there for about 10 years and have had 3 crowns, numerous cleanings and repair of a small chip on one front tooth. I went back for a routine checkup 6 months after my first appointment. Even though I was 15 minutes earlier I only waited for about 5 minutes. The dental assistant was great and answered all of my questions with very thorough explanations while cleaning/inspecting my teeth -- it's not easy to multitask like that!
