If I could do zero stars I would. They have the worst customer service especially over the phone and when you can get through. First off they only have a 10 transaction limit a day and when I tried to ask about it I got told to stop interrupting and let her talk. Then she hung up on me. Worst customer service ever. I have been a member for over 20 years but I will definitely be moving banks with the rest of my family. Went in at 10:30 am to close my account today. I have no loans or credit cards with CSCU. I've been a member for over 40 years. They refused to close my account stating I owed $230.65 for a line of credit originally opened 28 years ago. Despite my efforts calling the main branch and talking to management, they insisted I needed pay to close my account due to a HELOC line of credit loan I never used 28 years ago. I withdrew all my money, but they refused to close the account and left the minimum in the saving to keep the account open. The Eldo branch Manager S. Gonzsales said I would incur recurring fees due to non-activity unless the money was paid. I filed a consumer assistance complaint to close my account with the National Credit Union Administration. I just wanted to close my account. I waited for over an hour. Senior citzs beware! read more

Central State Credit Union's main office is located in central Stockton. This institution really takes is identity from the surrounding area. What I mean by the quip is it is very ghetto. I have been a member for over forty years, this credit union like the surrounding neighborhood has declined. The service is terrible, the employees are unprofessional. Sent email to Central State Credit Union about a issue to be resolved. Never got a response or even a acknowledgement... had to call in personally 3 days later to follow up on the issue. They where like "Oh were soo busy we can't respond to everyone!"...it shouldn't take longer than 3 days to respond to a client. Because of their lack of competency, now I'm having to do their job and resolve the issue. Just say'n explore all your options available before going with these guys. read more

I have been banking with this branch for 18 years now. I love them. They were the first bank to give a young, hard-working kid a car loan and now they hold the accounts for my business and home. Wait times in branch are reasonable in comparison to any bank. I'm treated and greeted like family and the tellers even remember me outside the bank! Maybe that just means I'm there too often or maybe that's just the way EVERY bank should be. Either way, I appreciate their work. read more

ve had several account with other banks and have never had so many discrepancies with other banks. It's like Central State is purposely trying to screw you over. They are really screwy with the way they hold checks, let transactions go through, don't validate money actually being in your account. I have to call all the time to dispute charges and fines. They argue about giving the money back, but in the end they must realize that I am right and they are not handling my money correctly. I have close my account now, and will never do business with them again. read more

I recently went to use the ATM at the Eldorado and March ln location as I have for a few years now. On this particular day the ATM was taking a exceptionally long time to process my transaction which was a little out of ordinary but I waited, waited and waited only for the ATM to read "SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT THIS ATM IS TEMPORARILY OUT OF SERVICE", no receipt, no cash. I found out later that I was debited the $500 dollars and the bank was closed the day of the transaction.. I called the next day, TODAY, to get resolve but the Branch Manager was to busy to return my calls.. Im extremely frustrated and annoyed with the lack of consideration and help provided to this point. Not a good first impression for a potential new account holder. Please make this right and compensate me for my time and money that is rightfully mine that I did not have access to because of your FAULTY ATM MACHINE!!!!!!! read more

I've been with central state 15yrs! Never had any problems! They have GREAT interest rates if your looking for a loan! They maybe a stickler when it comes to personal checks if your doing it by ATM but have never had a problem at a teller! Hey if it was me I'd be sceptic about a check as well especially now of days! People are shady & thieves! They have changed my debit card several times because my information may have been jeopardized! Nice having someone looking over your shoulder! I opened an account with them and only have problems! If i transfer money from one account to my account with them on a Saturday, the money will not be there until Tuesday which i was not informed about before doing so. They told me the next day if before 3pm and the day after that if after 3pm. Then I set up my direct deposit to receive my tax refund and when i called to verify that the deposit was made they said, "Yes it was suppose to be but it was returned it to irs because there was no suffix and a 2 digit number added to the account number." I was never told anything about this and now I need to wait 5+ weeks for the irs to send me a paper check. I searched through my paperwork i was given from Central State Credit Union and confirmed there was nothing stating that I needed to add anything to the account number for deposits. I trusted them to hold my money and am not being told the necessary and important information. Very unprofessional! read more

Well, I have banked here for years and I'm an easy pleaser. The tellers in this bank overall are very nice. Although I have to say the last few times I have made deposits inside the branch all I've gotten was a how I can help you. You can't beat credit union rates and free checking so I can't complain there. I did have one bad experience at this branch about a month ago that left me HOT. I was standing in line to make a deposit (next up) and the security guard came in and told me to turn my hat backwards (backwards) , the security guard did not approach me, yet instead shouted it from the front entry door which was so embarrassing considering there were four people behind me. I fully comprehend and to a certain extent appreciate why this bank takes certain precautions (It's Stockton), but unfortunately I shouldn't have to do my hair to go to the bank nor turn my hat backwards just to make a simple three minute deposit on a Saturday. A simple bad experience can certainly change your rapport/relationship, I've kept my relationship with this bank for years regardless of living 20 miles away, and sadly I now keep the minimal $5.00 in the checking so the account does not close and have moved onto chase (Free checking with direct deposit). I'm giving this bank four stars regardless of one bad experience, I've always received an interest rate lower than three percent on my autos and haven't had to pay this bank one dollar in the years I have had a checking and savings account. read more
