I was there from February to June 2023, but not willingly. Personally, I felt like I was in prison for a crime I didn't commit. If I ever have to choose between ever going back there and dying, start planning my funeral. And when I finally escaped, getting my personal belongings back was almost like pulling teeth. If I ever see that place again, I'd prefer to be operating the wrecking ball they're using to destroy it. satisfactory nursing care. Most very compassionate and caring. There were a few who need some customer service. The CNA's was mostly great. A few were a little rough and did not seem to understand the word "gentle" The office staff seem to be polite and knowledgeable special recognition to the following: Abby (short, dark hair, and glasses) on nights - Gurpreet Kaur it's probably the best CNA and staff I saw her almost daily and always the same caring attitude, and willingness to help with anything -Novdeep Kaur equals to Gurpreet in level of service and knowledge. Truly shows compassion and caring for patients.. MaryAnne Is a dialysis nurse with very much experience and even helped in a situation that was not dialysis related, speaking to the doctor on our behalf. read more

Absolutely horrible. My dad has been here for over a year! They have done nothing but neglect and medically abuse him. They have prescribed him medicine he is not suppose to have just to keep him Sedated. The doctors never call you back. The social worker Ashley is a joke. She is suppose to be a resource for patients who are not being treated properly; she could care less what happens. They should all be fired. I found blood all over the room and floor. I stayed almost a full 5 months and I had a mix of care For the most part I would say I was taken well care of. There are a few things that need drastic improvement and then there are many things and employees that are more than exceptional. PT group is amongst the best you can ask for. I was pushed and encouraged to my fullest ability. Daytime nursing was awesome, nighttime nursing needs improvement, patient advocate was very efficient, house supervisors were wonderful. After spending 4 weeks here with my grandmother, all I have to say about Central Valley is that it is a truly special place. I knew coming in that this was her last chance, and that was communicated really clearly with my first meeting with the doctor. Even though Nani did not make it, I know she is in a better place. The staff was very supportive in her last days and made sure to be very responsive to my family's needs. The doctor talked to us and let's us know what kind of end of life care they will be providing. Even though this was a very tough time for my family I am very thankful for the entire Central Valley team thank you. read more

We did not want to send our mother to this facility after reading the review and Yelp and Google. We spoke with the director of the hospital who stated, they have done a 360 with the care and staff. He promised us our mother was in good hands and that we would get daily update from the Doctors. COMPLETE LIE!!!! My mother was transported to this facility from Kaiser San Leandro in March 2021 for a short-term goal of getting her off the ventilator and removing trache but, that was short-lived. My mother only lasted 2 days before being rushed back Kaiser in Modesto. She didn't know where she was because she lost Oxygen. (WHICH we then received a bill for the ride to the hospital $4200). Not sure if they have taken care of the bill or not at this point. Trying to get a hold of someone who handles the insurance billing is impossible. Lynette's voice mail is full and I've sent over e-mail to her on 4/21/2021... almost a month later and nothing. I've also left a message for another person to return my call. My mom was in the ICU at Kaiser until April 27th before she was sent back to this facility, where they did not give her the proper care. When my dad and I went to visit her, she was unresponsive and slept the whole time. On May 2nd I went to visit my mom, I face-timed my family, and we spoke to one of her nurses to express ourselves regarding the state my mom was in. This wasn't new to us because we saw her on good and bad days. We knew there was something wrong with her. We asked several questions, but it seemed like the nurses DID NOT care. The nurses just sit at the nurses station and chit-chat. By Tuesday May 4th. We received a phone call from the Doctor that my mom coded and they were trying to get her stable to rush her back to the ER at Kaiser. The next day my mom passed away from their negligence. We have been asking for my mother's personal items since 4/26/2021 when she returned back to the facility, it's been 20 days and we still have not received her items. Do not send your loved ones here. You do not want them to end up like my mother. They have no compassion nor a care in the world. THEY ARE only out there for a paycheck they do not care about our loved ones. They have to get one star because you can't give them zero stars.. read more

This place is the most UNETHICAL hospital I have ever seen. First of all, some of the staff are rude and do not have any respect or understanding for their patients. Second of all, they care more about saving money and taking the easy way out than actually taking care of their patients. And third, but definitely not least, if they see you needing help, good luck because you're not going to get it. You would think that a nurse, let alone anybody working in a hospital, would help somebody who is obviously needing help. But no, not here, they'll all turn their heads and look the other way. The Doctors at this hospital know that no food is getting past my daughter's damaged esophagus and into her stomach. They also know that she needs IV medications. They have denied her an IV. Having to give a star to be able to comment is disgusting. She is 5'6" and down to 86 pounds. She's being given bouillon instead of broth and sugary drinks with little nutrition that all gets drained off into a container for fluids in her lung. On a weekend, is there no regulator who can force caregivers to do the right thing? They swore an oath to DO NO HARM and they are starving her to death! read more

This place deserves zero stars; it only gets 1 star for the few good nurses and respiratory therapists who work here. Thank God for them. They are constantly having to scramble to fix the mistakes and/or neglect of the rest. There are also 2 good physical therapists. The amount of ineptitude, lack of education and training, and pure incompetence and laziness here will astound you. Something very fishy is going on here.... tell me how a business that had an intake of about 31 million dollars last year (per public records) has old, broken down equipment and bottom of the barrel staff? Meanwhile, all the folks benefitting from nepotism (yes indeed, unqualified people in positions they shouldn't be because of being related to the owner) drive real nice cars... Instead of actually progressing patients, it us much easier to keep them at status quo. The lazy way is the CVSH way!!! It is guaranteed that your loved one will get SICKER there, rather than better. If you are not able to be there with them all day, every day, you will find your person in a wet/soiled bed, bandages and wound care not done, in pain or having difficulty breathing, not getting their treatments and medicine, and generally being ignored UNLESS you are lucky enough to have one of the good ones as your nurse that day!!! I can name all the few good ones by name, they are that few and far between. The lack of communication between all parties, even shift to shift, will blow your mind. What is mentioned in all other reviews is absolute truth; it is that bad. This place has a monopoly on long term care in this area, and they know it. Therefore, they keep doing the horrible stuff they always have. Your family member being there, and dealing with them on a daily basis will be far more stressful than your family member's initial illness, trust me. Once I took my loved one out of there and to another hospital (after a year of pure hell), miraculously my family member is better and going home soon. Pretty suspicious, considering that this dump told our insurance that our family member was ventilator dependent and not going to get better, and tried to send them out to a nursing home 3 hours away. They also lied to me in an attempt to get me to go along with it. All I can say is this - I know that sometimes we have no choice and have to use this dump. BE THERE EVERY SINGLE DAY AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Get a little notebook and write it all down, with dates, times, names, etc. And get familiar with the complaint process for the Department of Public Health and your insurance company. You'll need them. Also, did I mention the lack of air conditioning and heat that they were investigated for last year and still didn't fix? The constant running out of necessary basic equipment such as pulse ox monitors, tube feeding, breathing treatments and bed chucks? Did I mention the broken and/or half working patient monitors and beds? The holey and stained sheets and blankets? The mildew in the windows? The holes in the walls improperly just covered with plaster and paint? The layers and layers of cheap paint slapped on over everything instead of scrubbing, cleaning, and scraping it? How this place even has 2 stars I'll never know, doesn't even deserve 1, more like 0.EIGHT. (0.8). My father was here back in June of 2021, first week was great but as soon as July rolled around things went to $h1t (exactly how the hospital always smelled). I used the restroom one time and it REAKED of urine and I realized there was a random metal chair with a jacket draped over it soaked in urine. Will post picture below. Very disturbing. Another thing that bugged me was when I took my mother who is in a wheelchair to see her husband, I was about to park in the only remaining handicapped parking spot when a HUGE lifted truck cuts me off and hops out like nothing, clearly not PHYSICALLY handicapped, come to find out he was an employee at the hospital! Whomever responds to these reviews obviously doesn't take the time to read them. There is a general response all over Yelp and Facebook on complaints. On Facebook, most of the positive reviews are from staff. If they actually read my review they would know it wasn't me staying and was loved one. Lastly, no where did I write they were well and recovered. Still an awful place that hopefully is closed down and sued soon! read more

I came to CENTRAL VALLEY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL approx. 4 months ago in really bad condition. I was told it would take at least 9 months to a year for me to heal. They really had a challenging journey ahead for them to help me with in that time frame. They addressed every issue and took every precautionary measure needed. The nurses were informative friendly dedicated knowledgeable and maintained high ethics and it showed in the daily care they provided. The wound care was top notch and because of the expertise of the whole team I'm going home today. It took 3 months for this facility to heal me and send me home better than i ever was since becoming a PARAPLEGIC. I am immensely grateful beyond measure and appreciate the collectible whole that made it possible..shout out to all the C.N.A'S that provided me with daily care.. good vibes.. laughter and shoulders to cry on. dr redding is an inept doctor and she has almost killed my dad 3x. stay away from dr redding. i am reporting her. we have requested multiple times for her to not be my dad's doctor and they keep bringing her back on. my dad is very sick and does not need inept & uneducated doctors helping him. this hospital has left out imperative medical updates to my mom and it has been a terrible experience. they are working their way up to a lawsuit if not by us then someone else soon because this is absolutely ridiculous. dr redding you need to get out of medical care. read more

My mom was transferred to Central Valley Specialty Hospital on October 30, 2020 to continue her recovery and do respiratory and occupational therapy. She was just released today after 18 days and she is very grateful and appreciative of the nurses, doctors, and staff for the excellent care she experienced during her stay. He's been here since January and has received great care, the house supervisors Gurpreet and Amarpreet are great and attentive. My sister-in-law was transported here from the Stockton area because she needed longterm acute care after a massive stroke. Ours was a particularly life challenging situation, and their team was very responsive. I have nothing negative to say about the care she received here. They were accommodating, attentive, and communicated well with our family. From the physicians (in particular, Dr. Chenn and Dr. Baga) to the therapists and nursing staff, they were always available, offering support, compassion, and professional care. They worked as a team, and included us in meetings, discussing options and striving to provide the best treatment, possible. For obvious reasons, I hope you will never have to have a loved one in this facility or any other longterm acute care center, but if you are ever in such a situation, my husband and I would recommend that you share your needs with the director and work with the staff to provide appropriate treatment. read more

I was in this hospital for a five week antibiotic treatment if you are not alert no telling what they will do to you... I was almost given my roommates medicine twice in the same day... And one time they crashed all my medication and summertime released and say do not crash or chew... They are very short staffed and some of the nurses are not very nice... You can push your button 10 times before somebody comes to tell you to hang on even if you need pain medication instead of physical therapy I was getting heparin shots in my stomach when they could've just stretched my legs a couple times a day... I would never send my dog there! read more

My grandfather came for care & rehab from a stroke. The previous hospital could not get him off the breathing machine...there was little hope. But Central Valley's respiratory doctors got him off the machine. And with intense therapy, He's now home, able to eat, drink, and get around with his wheelchair. My husband was there for almost 2 months. We we were told this hospital was well equipped and able to manage his medical issues. Their website clearly states they provide long term acute care. The first night I was not even notified that he had a change of condition and I only found out the next day when I went to visit him. He was admitted with medical and nursing care requirements. I understand that nurses have many patients, but it is still their responsibility to provide medical and nursing care. Why do I need to ask them why certain duties were not being done? Why weren't basic care provided unless I asked or questioned the nurses? Why did it take 4 days after he was admitted to get an order for something that should have been done as soon as he was admitted. Why did he keep saying he was hungry and thirsty when he was supposed to be getting continuous tube feedings? Why did he continue to lose weight? Why did nurses take 2-3 hours to refill his feedings? Why did respiratory therapists always say they'll be back and yet never return? I was reassured that things would get better. Even the Director of Nurses wrote up a checklist for nurses to make sure they were getting certain duties done. But that only lasted a few weeks as his drain tube was not being managed and nurses were still forgetting to keep his tube feedings going. The Speech Therapist, Laura upgraded his diet texture without even doing a swallow evaluation. She based it off seeing him walking with Physical Therapy. She said she saw him doing better so she said it was ok to upgrade his diet. But she said he wasn't well enough for Speech Therapy to work on swallowing?? I spoke with the Medical Director a few times about my concerns and each time he reassured me he would look into things and get back to me. I believed him but unfortunately, I never heard back from him. The case manager Ruth was terrible. She never contacted me until I called her with my concerns. She never updated me on his care unless I called her. The discharge planning was disorganized. I had to give her the phone number to home health as she told me there were none in my area. He was sent home without all his medications ready for pick up at the pharmacy. There were a few nurses and aides that were great. They seemed to really care, and I am thankful for them. The dietician, Jackie was also nice and followed through. The wound care nurses and wound care Dr. were also good. PT and OT were limited but were helpful and motivating. The front desk receptionists were always friendly. I just mentioned a few things that happened. DO NOT send your loved ones here. It was an on-going nightmare. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST.. the quality of care is horrible at this place, it's dirty the staff is rude and doesn't seem to care about the patients well being at all. If you have someone who has to be sent here, deny it as much as you can. We put my mom in here because of the on site dialysis and we were there to check on her every single day, they let her sit in her own movements, get bed sores, lose muscle strength so badly she couldn't hardly move herself and get very depressed. They watched her get weaker and weaker and after us trying so hard to get her out of there and into a real hospital (which they wouldn't allow, unless we did it against medical advice) when they finally sent her she passed away within hours of being in the ICU. Please do not send your family here. They need to be shut down read more

My love one was in this facility back in 2021....If I could rate this place a 0 stars I would. After a long search and really no other option I had to send my love one to this facility. I wanted to keep a positive mindset and hope this would work because I would be an hour away from my love one, but they failed, from management, to the nurses to even the Dr himself. My love one ended up with some sort of dermatitis all over their body and wouldn't even give him meds to help and then ended up with COVID. The Dr had messaged me to tell me we (his family) had exposed to COVID..We had tested that day and a few days after and we were all negative, it was a staff member who gave him COVID, but Dr was blaming the family, the audacity this Dr had to blame us was very unprofessional. Soon after my love ones seizures started to get out of control and the Dr. said he would not send him out to the hospital in Modesto because he would be right back and did not want him there as a patient (mind you my love one was really sick and could not advocate for himself... it seems like the hospital didnt like that I was involved in my family members care but I had to advocate for him. So, I told him to send him back to the County of Fresno (where we live)to the hospital. They just sat on it not doing anything, while my love one got worse. I had to get involved with the hospital in Fresno county to help me get him back since it was a different county...It took 5 days total...if he would of stayed there longer he would of died.... If you love your love one DO NOT SEND them to CENTRAL VALLEY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL!!!!! read more

Let's start off with I am a patient here and have been for going on 3 months. This hospital isn't perfect but it does care. From the house keeping staff to the nurses most have tried very hard to attend to my every need. Some of the older reviews might be true but now,today there is a lot of accountability. You have a patient advocate you can call if there are any problems as well as hospital provided face time ability.As far as staffing goes there are so many bright and dedicated men and women here that absolutely want to get you home to your family. Ask for Noah/nurse or Eric/nurse or Nikki/nurse. My dream team of caretakers was Samantha, Sabrina,Nicole and Trish all LVN's and saw to my daily care for months. Last but not least were the CNA group. They are the glue that makes everything easier for the nurses. Nino,Mona Lisa and Yari always saw to the little details every day . Again today's group at CVSH isn't perfect but it really does make sure the patient is comfortable and looked after. If you have a loved one here and don't feel the same then talk to the staff. Come visit and advocate for you loved one. Be active in the recovery and you will see your loved one improve before your eyes. God bless and hope this helps the public read more
