If you're doing some weird DIY thing, you can talk about your needs/goals, and they'll often have suggestions for how you might meet that goal. I want to check out here," no one offered to help. Instead, the cashier at the first register told me I was being rude and then refused to check us out, turning what should have been a routine checkout into an embarrassing public scene that ultimately ended with a manager checking us out. My mother has been shopping at McLendon's in Woodinville for decades and was taken aback by the way we were treated. We had already spent most of the day buying gardening supplies and had loaded and unloaded heavy items before coming to McLendon's for a few more things. We ended up with two carts, including a heavy flat cart carrying three long bags of potting soil with a long shovel balanced across the top. It wasn't just heavy--it was awkward to maneuver, especially around tight corners. At checkout, I was directed to another register. I started to move the cart, but the cashier was facing a different aisle and said he couldn't scan the bags from where he was. It quickly became apparent that I would have to maneuver the cart around a very tight corner by myself while keeping the load balanced. The other option was to back up and come around another way, which would have required moving my mother and her cart. My mother has neuropathy in her feet and is very unsteady, so neither option was practical. The cashier did not offer to help move the cart, reposition himself, or assist with the bags in any way. I went back to the first register and said, "I want to check out here." She again told me I needed to move to the next register. I said, with admittedly some tired exasperation, "I don't want to. I want to check out here." After I said that, the woman at the first register very loudly told me I was being rude. I asked, "Are you going to check us out?" She simply stood there for a time without responding. My mother, who is 80 years old, had been standing there watching the entire interaction. She even said to her, "Isn't the customer always right?" By that point, the exchange had drawn the attention of another customer, who inserted himself into the situation and began insulting me. Finally, after being loudly lectured, the cashier said she would have to get her manager, waved her hands in the air, said, "I can't do this," and left to get him. The volume of her voice and her visible anger quickly drew the attention of several customers, turning what should have been a routine checkout into an embarrassing public scene. The manager ultimately came over and checked us out. He, in stark contrast to her, was very nice. He looked to see if my mom had any coupons on file, then asked another employee to help load the soil into my car. What disappointed me most was how quickly this escalated. If either employee had simply offered to help with the cart, the entire situation could have been resolved in less than a minute. We had two carts that were part of the same purchase--one my mother was pushing and one I was pushing. Instead of asking us to move both carts, it would have been far easier to let the customer behind us proceed to the next register. I understand that stores have procedures, but good customer service also means recognizing when a customer is dealing with heavy, awkward merchandise and offering assistance. I sincerely hope management will use this as an opportunity to remind employees that a calm, solution-oriented approach--and a willingness to help a customer with a heavy load--can make all the difference. 7-6-26 Edit: After taking some time to reflect on what happened, I've updated this review to clarify the sequence of events. My mother remains just as upset as I am about the way we were treated. She would welcome the opportunity to speak with management if they would like to discuss what happened. We would genuinely like to feel comfortable shopping at McLendon's again, but that will depend on how this situation is handled.

I bought an $800 electric lawn mower and the first time using it I found the self propulsion was defective. I brought it back to the store within 2 weeks of purchase and was told that because it was used I can't exchange it. I said, "of course it is used, how else could I have found out it was defective." Then they said they wanted to take it in the back of store and test it out. I agreed. 40 minutes later the manager came back and said the machine and box is covered in oil and so it wasn't returnable. I told them it can't be covered in oil it is an electric mower and they don't use oil. Then he said, exactly you must have put oil in it. I adamately denied this accusation and they then said well we won't exchange it and I would have to go through the manufacturer. When I got home I inspected the machine and the box and there was no oil. So clearly they are too lazy to take care of their customers because they don't want to do the paperwork to send it back to the manufacturer as defective.

We don't need to spend hours looking for a wood board that is not bent. Of course, it comes to a price. Since the quality of the materials are usually higher, the price is also higher than other similar stores. But in my opinion it is totally worthy it. Services are also better than other bigger stores. We got a more customized services and people are usually very knowledgeable about the products the store offers. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who cares about higher quality materials and great customer services.

That changed today. Mr. Rich at the sales/customer service was not just unhelpful, but snarky, entitled and rude. I got to Mr. Rich's counter and asked him about a speciality external siding product Dunn sells in store. Specifically I asked if there are other sizes available and his response, I kid you not, was "You can do that online and check for yourself". Uh, ok. I said I can do everything online but I wanted to shop local (hint: I am making proactive choice to give you my business). Okay maybe he was having a bad day and was in no mood to help. Thinking nothing of it, I asked if there were other products that could be used as external siding that they have here [at Dunn]. He said "You should first do your own research, I am not gonna do that". Uhh..? I am literally asking if there are products at Dunn that would fit my requirements so that I can buy some. But nope, apparently you must do it online (or be made to feel as you are a dumb bloke asking dumb questions at a hardware store). Rich, I will also order it online from HD or elsewhere buddy. Thanks, you just saved me time, money and coronavirus because you do not even know how to wear a mask over your nose. BTW, I did do my research beforehand and exactly know the options. It was probably too much to go to a local store and seek expert advise. Unfortunately your entitlement got in the way of helping a customer and making a sale. Gonna stick to doing my research AND shopping online. In sum, why bother to get treated like crap and pay more? Feeling like I interrupted someone's business is worse than no help and shopping online.

All kinds of consumables you don't want to overpay for. They're consistently stocked, easy to grab, and priced right. Where this location really shines, though, is staff and tools. The staff are great, always helpful. Harbor Freight has come a long way, and the value is hard to beat. Especially for air tools! Solid performance at prices that make it easy to expand your setup without overthinking it. I recently picked up an orange rolling tool chest on sale and honestly couldn't be happier with it. Sturdy, smooth drawers, and an incredible deal for what you get. Also worth calling out: the Apache hard cases. These things are fantastic. I use them to keep gear dry, protected, and organized, and they punch way above their price point. No frills, no nonsense. Just good prices, useful gear, and a store that makes it easy to get in, get what you need, and get back to work. This place can be a reliable staple if you're building, fixing, or tinkering with just about anything.
