Yes, as good as it gets! Wonderful, creative dishes, perfectly created to share - if you want. Love the cocktails as well, you have got to try the Cava Brava, a pink concoction beautifully served with a spring of Rosemarie. The ambiance is fun and hip. Last night, I celebrated my birthday dinner at Centro. What a delightful treat! My husband and I ordered the eggs and bacon (a favorite), the fried pickles, the crudo (it was a scallop crudo last night), fingerling potatoes with lamb, bone marrow, oxtail, and pork belly. For dessert, I had the bread pudding waffle and my husband had the root beer float. Everything was exceptional. My only critique would be more lamb on the fingerlings. The lamb to potato ratio was too much potato. Seriously, we were delighted with each dish. The eggs and bacon, pickles and oxtail were among our faves but it was hard to choose. I had the Fig Old Fashion, the Seasonal Centro Mule, and Centro spiced Cider as my cocktails. Usually I just order wine but the cocktails were too fun to pass up! I really wanted to order the Hot Coco which sounds amazing but they were all out . At least that is a good excuse to go next time!! Thanks for a great birthday meal! What a disappointment. We went to Centro based on the many good reviews here and on Google. The food was just OK and it is grossly overpriced, with tiny portions that were about a fifth of the size one would find at a standard restaurant and maybe a third the size of a tapa in a real Spanish restaurant. We had the gnocchi, bone marrow, stone fruit salad, and hanger steak. The gnocchi was a bit tough and the sauce very average, just lightly cooked chopped tomatoes with some oregano. The only way to mess up marrow is by not providing enough toast, which is exactly what happened here. The stone fruit salad was, literally, 4 see-through slices of nectarine and half a fig on two little curls of endive. And the $18 hangar steak was three smaller-than-one-inch cubes of tough, poorly seared beef that tasted more like a roast cut than hangar or any other steak. (At this valuation, a full 8 oz steak entrée would have cost something like $95.) I think 4 dishes at a tapas-style place (or $60 worth of food at any casual farm-to-table spot) should serve 2 people well for lunch, but we left still hungry. I can only think that many of these reviews are staged, because this place is just average on food and nuts on price. read more

This restaurant is fabulous and so much fun to go to. Last night was our fourth time and service and food is always spot on. Filthy fries, the specialty salmon and the pumpkin ravioli were some of the many stand outs. Order a bunch of bites and share with the whole table. read more

The food was good but the music was soooooo loud. For 7pm dinner it shouldn't be like that. Maybe if they were still serving at like 11pm and wanted it to be a party scene. It was also this horrible techno music. Just makes everyone have to scream in order to be heard which just contributes to how loud it was in there. I had heard the place had good food, but how loud the music was completely ruined it. I could have tolerated the music, but not with it being that loud. One thing about the food was that the same tangy coleslaw was served on many of their dishes which just didn't make the dishes very different from each other. read more

Probably my favorite restaurant in Reno. Reno isn't exactly known for its culinary prowess, but Centro breaks that mold. The stars of the menu are the Ahi Tuna Poke with watermelon, the pork belly, and the short rib. This dish has big thick chunks of Tuna and equal sized watermelon cubes, so every bite is a surprise. The ponzu and cilantro add a lot of kick. The pork belly and the short rib are fantastic dishes. The pork belly is always perfectly tender and just the right amount of sweetness to keep you craving more. The short rib is surprisingly filling for a small dish, with eggplant, mushrooms, and spinach. The ambience is trendy but casual and there's a great patio out back when the weather is nice. All of that plus a great beer list and a lot of inventive cocktails, like the Cuerpo Revivido (Corpse Reviver with Tequila), make this place a slam dunk. read more

Great atmosphere. True tapas style with a flair of neighborhood mixed in with urban. Centro would fit right in in downtown Seattle or San Francisco. Highly recommend the shrimp po boy or maybe the taco trio. Abby or Cameron at the bar make incredible libations and these are drinks you don't see just every place. And on the grill, Reno legend David Stern and his protege Courtney Smith make it that much more amazing. Those are just a few mentions of the awesome team that make up this place. I stopped in for lunch today with coworkers. We decided to each order a few plates and then share them. The food was really good, I loved the quinoa falafel btw, but the Filthy Bastard Fries were the star of the show. Both my coworkers agreed they would be back and we all left satisfied. I really like the small plate concept, it makes the meal more social and fun. The food came out at different times but that worked out well since we were grazing anyway. Found this great little new place for my birthday! Loved the atmosphere! Small yet open. They opened up the glass garage doors on a beautiful full moon night. It was lovely! I asked if they could make a ginger martini and they accommodated! With only the freshest of ingredients, of course! Omg! So incredibly good. Ordered oysters, sat at the bar and laughed it up with the staff. Wonderful! Went back for tapas another day and was very underwhelmed. The food did not seem fresh at all and the drink the server suggested was...yuck. Haven't been back but will for sure cause the first time was so good. read more

I really want to like you, Centro - I really do. We had lamb sliders that were really great. We had anchovies that were alright. We came in for the happy hour "cocktail of the day" and heard the bartender say, "I don't want to make them today - well drinks instead." We tried to order a couple other cocktails that sounded great but the Mezcal and another liquor were out of stock, so we ended up with wells after all. What we did have was good - but needed better service and presentation. We'll have to try again. read more

We're from the SF Bay Area and came to Carson City for a horse event that was being held in Reno. I found this Centro Bar & Kitchen in a magazine I picked up in a barbershop in Carson City. Judging by the pictures I knew this was worth driving back to Reno to try it. We walked in the door and we were greeted by a beautiful hostess and sat in the courtyard. Our server came over right away and he was incredible! He made excellent suggestions we loved everything! I would recommend the steak and rib. For dessert the bread pudding and lemon tarts. It was my boyfriend's birthday and the server went Next door to get a candle to light so we could sing him happy birthday. We had an amazing dining experience here. I highly recommend you go even if you're staying in another town Centro is worth the trip. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I went for a date night and though there was a wait, we somehow got seated right away. It started just a bit rocky when we waited for like 10 minutes because our server hadn't been told we were there. However, she was very sweet, apologetic and made it right, but getting us drinks quickly and being very attentive the whole night. I was nervous that my 'big meal loving' husband might not like the small plates menu, but after every course, from the pork tacos to the sliders to the mint caprese salad and the s'mores creme brulee he would exclaim, this is absolutely delicious. The setting is lovely when the weather is nice, as you get almost alfresco dining up front. The music was a tiny bit loud, but our server turned it down when we asked. Overall, I would highly recommend it for a date night, girls night or just tasty dinner! read more

Centro is one of my favorite restaurants in Reno and a must-visit when we have friends in town. They have solid, interesting, modern tapas-style food, great cocktails, and friendly service. My last obsession there were their shrimp po' boy sliders - the bread was perfect, soft and a little crusty, perfectly fried shrimp, and a delicious, slightly sweet, and bright slaw. The menu changes regularly but there are always plenty of options so you're bound to find a few things you're excited to try. I haven't been in for their happy hour but it's a great deal if you're looking for equally delicious cocktails and snacks (which is a rarity). read more

This was my favorite restaurant in Reno. Everything always had a great mix of flavors and I was excited to try the daily specials. Sadly, they have a new executive chef and things are not the same. The new menu claims a few of the old staples, however they were obviously something different. The food was ok, although be warned the hanger steak for $14 only had two small pieces of meat. After my last visit I knew something was off and so I came home and tried to google if they had a new owner. Our waiter confirmed today that they have a new executive chef. We will probably still eat here once in a while but it's not the same. read more
