My husband and I split the salmon dish (and we were told there was a $5 charge to split the dish but extra sides would be added). I should have snapped a photo, but just looking at it I knew it was going to be a disappointment. I was told by one of my table mates that the pork chop is the route to go. So maybe next time. We ordered the braised short rib, bison burger and seared pork belly. The flavors on everything was bomb! The short rib was super tender. The pork belly was accompanied with honey and chopped pistachios. The bison had 2 super thick patties (one of the biggest burgers I've seen in a minute). I decided to celebrate my birthday with my friends here during their happy hour. We were a little disappointed that their happy hours changed and all their best apps were gone from their happy hour menu. I made a reservation for my group and when we walked in, we asked if we could add another person. The hostess made it seemed like it was inconvenience even though there were multiple tables open. If you are planning a night out at the theatre, you might want to reconsider your pre-show dining destination. While Wild River Grille clearly markets itself to the arts-going crowd, our recent experience suggests they haven't quite mastered the timing required for an stress-free evening. We arrived at 6:00 PM, giving ourselves a full two hours before an 8:00 PM show. Despite the early start, the service was consistently behind the beat: * Order Taken: 6:17 PM * Salads Served: 6:30 PM * Drinks Arrived: 6:40 PM (Ten minutes after the food had already hit the table) The most frustrating part of the evening was watching the table next to us. They arrived well after we did, yet they managed to finish their appetizers and full entrees before our main courses even appeared. Our entrees finally arrived at 7:30 PM, leaving us a frantic 30 minutes to settle the bill and get to the theatre. We ended up rushing through the meal so quickly that we couldn't actually enjoy the flavors or the atmosphere. Once we brought the significant delay to the staff's attention, they did acknowledge the lapse in service and applied a discount to our bill. While we appreciate the gesture and the attempt to make things right, a discount doesn't quite replace a relaxing pre-theatre meal. It was too chilly at 8:30pm to sit outdoors without heaters. Ordered our meals. I ordered Trout , hubby ordered Snapper. Food arrived looking amazing and hot. Waiter seemed like he was ready to wrap up the night and didn't check on us much so when we needed condiments we could get them right away. Also my potatoes, although hot, were not fully cooked and were like hot crunchy apple texture and green beans were just warmed up from fresh so could have been "cooked" just a bit longer. Food could have also been seasoned better for flavors- All in all we were hungry and ate but don't think a return is worth it for dinner. I always enjoy coming to Wild River Grille whether that's a random lunch when no one is around or when the place is jam packed before a show at the Pioneer Center. It's so nice that it's right by the river and is both a great place to be with friends or for a more intimate dinner date. My favorite starter has to be the glazed Brussels sprouts, they're flavorful, not mushy, and the blue cheese and bacon go so well together with the sauce. I also always go for the Wild River Salad; light refreshing. Beyond that, their menu is always changing so it's fun to try something new every time. Similarly, the seasonal cocktail menu is always changing so it's fun to try new drinks as well! Of the house cocktails the margarita is solid and the classic razz is pretty good. We made reservations at Wild River Grille to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary on April 8 2026. What a wonderful, wonderful experience! Annalee was SO gracious, friendly and accommodating. I don't order Filet Mignon often, but this Entrée was literally "done to perfection". It was delicious and tender, served with cowboy butter, asparagus, on an amazing parmesan risotto cake. My wife had their New York steak special with "duck fried " Fries and Delta asparagus- SO GOOD. Imagine our surprise when we ordered Bread Pudding for dessert and it arrived at our table emblazoned with a chocolate "Happy Anniversary" decoration wish on the plate! Went here last weekend while in town for the day and wow, it was sure a treat! We loved dining on the outdoor patio overlooking the Truckee River. The staff was so friendly and attentive. This is one of those restaurants I seem to find myself always going back to. The food is consistent, and it's the perfect spot to grab dinner before seeing a show at the Pioneer Center. The Brussels sprouts are a must order every single time. They're crispy, flavorful, and just done right. The mushroom ravioli is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite dishes on the menu though it is only available during dinner(I wish this was an option during lunch time). The truffle fries are also really good and impossible not to finish. The pork belly is another standout since it is rich, well-cooked, and super satisfying. It melts in your mouth! Our server was delightful, a young blond, very cheerful and energetic. We had a quiet table for two , with white linen table cloth and a candle. I appreciated the quiet elegance. One of our absolute favorite places to go! We made reservations for a Saturday evening about a month in advanced and I'm so glad we did. They didn't have much available. That tells you how popular this place is. Ordered the mushroom ravioli and a ginger beer mocktail. They both came out fairly quickly and were delicious! I cleared my plate it was so good. The raviolis were great side and were served with 2 sides of soft bread. My mocktail was just as delicious. I had to question if it was alcoholic ginger beer lol! Can't wait to come back! Another visit to Wild River, and honestly one of the best. This time we were seated in the River Room bar, was a full house tonight and no reservation made it slim pickings! So this room is quite romantic in its own right, and the bar is really no exception. No cocktails tonight as this was a pit stop in a longer night of planned fun. We started with appetizers, the Crab and Salmon cakes as well as the Ahi Poke. Crab and Salmon cakes take the prize here, but the ahi poke was still great, just nothing overly unique about it to point at. The star of the show was the Land and Sea pasta bowl. That one blew us away... with its blue cheese, balsamic glaze, shrimp, steak, sundried tomatoes, and killer sauce.... That one is great and we opted to split one, for a $3 charge. 100% worth the $3 split. Both plates came gorgeous with plenty of food to hold us over, played almost exactly the same, and even paired with their own serving of garlic bread. Loved a relaxed, riverside, musical evening at Wild River Grille. The ambiance is top notch with someone playing soft tunes and pretty lights strung up. Definitely best enjoyed al fresco! The Brussels sprouts appetizer was crunchy and went so well with the blue cheese and bacon, plenty of sprouts to share for four! My salmon entree was spot on, super well cooked. I had a great experience here for dinner while on a trip. First, I started with a Sazerac Manhattan while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. We shared the crab cakes, which were slightly crunchy and very flavorful, as well as the pork belly that was really delicious and not greasy. Great locale on the river walk makes it an ideal spot for a walk after a good dinner. The staff was very friendly and patient and the food was delicious. I went early enough where there was no issue getting a seat for one person, but the dances are getting busy in about an hour so I'm pretty sure it's pretty popular in the evenings. Service was good but the food was low quality and lacked flavor. I ordered the burger medium rare and received it well done. It did not look like patty was made in house, it is likely frozen. They made me another burger and the server said she would come and check on me to see if it was cooked right. I opened up the burger and the patty had been cut in half inside uncut bun, this burger was cooked even more well done than the original. Found it strange that they served this to me after checking how it was cooked by cutting iyI sent it back and shared my boyfriend's Cuban he had ordered with a Cesar salad. We decided on a quick downtown lunch at the Wild River Grille. When we arrived there was no hostess at the check in stand, though several people seated on the patio. We waited and eventually went inside to check and then got seated at a nice table in the patio area. The weather was lovely for a spring afternoon in late April. My wife ordered the Blackened chicken Poboy and I selected the Gambling Pig sandwich. Both were accompanied by a generous helping of fries and a pickle spear. The gambling pig was tasty but the bun was a bit over toasted perhaps a bit on the stale side. The pork was flavorful however the sandwich was lacking adequate BBQ sauce.
