This restaurant looks pretty modest from the outside but the food is absolutely incredible. We decided to try a bit of everything and were blown away by the wonderful quality of the dishes here. I will note that the portions are very small so I would recommend at least 2-3 dishes per person for dinner which can be pretty expensive! - Beet El Chapo 10/10: One of the best drinks I've had in a while. A wonderful blend of earthy, smokey, and spicy. The beet color was so beautiful too! -Burrata Nut 9/10: Such a yummy fall dish! I am still drooling over the creamy pumpkin and burrata combination. The crostinis were a bit too crunchy for my taste but the rest of the dish was absolutely incredible. -Centro Takoyaki 10/10: These were so delicious. The perfect amount of flakey, crunchy outer shell with a tender, doughy inside. I really appreciated the addition of the chili thread. *chef's kiss* -Sticky Ribs 9/10: So tender and delicious. The meat just fell off the bone.The sauce was so good that we asked for a side of it and that really made the dish. I loved the crunch of the fried rice noodles on the outside! -Scallops 9/10: The scallops were so succulent and the flavor profile was very unique. I wouldn't expect Thai curry and plantains to go well together but it was excellent. I did notice a bitter aftertaste which I didn't care for but the initial flavors were amazing. Tapas style restaurants are my absolute favorite way to eat with smaller, shared items so you can try a little bit of everything and this restaurant knocks it out of the park. The service was great - my friend and I sat at the bar and our bartender was perfectly attentive and joined in on conversation. The food was also so tasty! We got the burrata and heirloom & centro salad to start - even though they are tapas style there was still plenty of food for two people! And that burrata with the basil oil - wow, seriously was dipping every last bit of bread in there. We also got the grilled salmon too by great recommendation of our server, which was fantastic. I also greatly prefer the ambiance of this location over their rancharra location because it's a little smaller, feeling more homey and alive with people. read more

When I tell you I was extremely saddened by the closure of the Rancharrah location of Centro, it would be an understatement. That location was a frequent stop for my family and I and absolutely adored everything about it. I know this is the first location but still holds a place in my foodie heart! Centro in midtown is chic and has a great vibe. It's a smaller restaurant in size and parking can have it's challenges. HIGHLY recommend reservations. Even if you don't think they're going to be busy, my experience is they are likely busy and if you don't want to sit at the bar or in a two top on the corner, just make the reservation. They have a great tapas menu. Night we went that's pictured, there were 4 adults and 1 child. We ordered about 2-3 of each tapa that we knew the table would be eating. If only one or two of us we ordered one portion of it. There wasn't an item we didn't try that wasn't decadent and served to perfection. My husband and I got a giftcard for this restaurant as a wedding gift. We decided to use it for a date night! The menu is fun and unique. The menu has about 10 items, all of which are tapas (small plates). We ended up getting one of (almost) everything on the menu. It was perfect for two people! Everything we tasted was delicious. We also split both of the desserts, which we both enjoyed. I would say this place is not for picky eaters. The plates are unique and very flavorful! Definitely a family style type of restaurant. I loved the burrata dish and ahi poke so much! The donut holes were my favorite dessert. We sat on the outdoor patio, where the ambiance was pleasant on a warm summer evening. Tapas and a happy hour from 3-6 what more could you want. Deep fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella served with a tangy marinara dipping sauce. We split this but after the first bite I kinda wanted to eat it all. Sorry. Grilled mahi mahi in a green curry over rice. With fried basil. Savory sauce and firm fish. Really good. Not sure about the fried basil. Seemed to have cooked the flavor out. Not a big deal. Kansas City strip (stockyards are in KC not NY) over polenta. Nice cut of beef cooked to order. Strawberry shortcake with puréed strawberries. Nice touch. Our server was busy and attentive all at once. Made for a very enjoyable late afternoon. Other miscellaneous things to know. Park on the street. We misread the sign in the back as 236 California. Nope wrong. Went back to move the car. It's a nice date night small space. If you have a group get a reservation. The ambiance of this little bar and restaurant is top-notch and all the food and drinks we tried were terrific. I can't remember the name of the multiple tapas style plates we tried but the fried brussel sprouts were amazing, the fried chicken, lobster raviolis, sticky ribs and lemon cello desert were great. The reason I'm giving four stars is because we had a reservation for our anniversary and when we came in, nobody greeted us until about 10-15 minutes after standing there. Then, our table wasn't ready so we waited another 10-15 minutes. There was obvious short staffing issues but all they had to do was tell us that and say they'd be with us ASAP. The Tuesday happy hour is where it's at! Lots of different time frames online or on old marketing materials, but currently the Tuesday happy hour is 3-8 PM. The food items are several dollars off each. It's a smaller menu but barely. The drink discounts vary depending on what you get. Wine is $6 instead of 9. Our waitress and hostess were super attentive given that it's tapas and people order throughout. The kitchen is open concept so you can watch as they prepare your meal. Love the open garage door seating. We had ceviche, filthy fries and bruschetta. I'd happily order all of them again, especially for the happy hour price! Usually I get dinners in the casinos when I visit Reno. This time, I try one in the town. When I try the first course--Hamachi crudo--I am so impressed by the richness of flavor Layers, I want to give a five-star to this restaurant. But the last course--grilled octopus, totally over grilled, the blurred taste sweeps all of the pleasure I enjoy in the dinner. The waitress told me the octopus was cooked by a new chef. Love this place!! Drive from Sacramento to Reno at least a couple times a year just to eat here!!Everything they serve is super fresh, artfully plated & amazingly well balanced in flavor. In addition to their amazing food, they also have a great selection of tantalizingly interesting specialty cocktails, but I always like to go off menu and ask my bartender to make something for me that they have been working on which would pair well with the food I've ordered. Service is on point every time! This crew never misses a beat with any special requests! Shocking to me that they don't have any Michelin Stars because they deserve it more than some of the 1 & 2 star places I've been to. The only drawback I see to any stars would be that there would probably be a line down the block or a months long wait list to get in. I like to just show up and sit at the bar to watch all of the magic happen in the kitchen! They have roll up garage doors in front of the bar that allow a nice breeze inside and the walls are decorated with art from local artists that are available to purchase. Well...the flavors are excellent, and the ambiance is good, but the vibe from two of the three people working there was a real downer. Our server was super nice, but the hostess who greeted us and the bartender who waited on us until the server showed up seemed like they couldn't care less that we were there. Could have been a bad day all around, but they didn't make ours any better. Then the check came and it was shockingly expensive considering we were still hungry. So for our meal we ordered beets done with a honey thyme goat cheese, chicories, apple, and Basil greens tossed in a walnuty apple vinaigrette , Scallops done with Thai coconut citrus, testones,( plantain slices ) caramelized leek, Escabeche, and Mint ( Scallops were tiny ) leaving me wanting more for the price! My friend likes bone marrow so we tried that , it was beautifully served with Thai Basil, orange segments, jalapeno, & lemon balm Micros, she liked it more than myself, but it's never been my preference... Another dish we chose was Octopus, the menu stated that it was Spanish Sous Vide , it was done with a Romesco sauce, black garlic, Saffron aioli, Hibiscus Pickled Romesco & fennel and smashed potato. So unique and delicious! I was so busy eating that I didn't take enough photos, Darn! We did finish off with a dessert as well, The KB bar.. A flourless chocolate cake with salted Caramel, Peanut butter Mousse, banana custard and scattered with Peanuts. I felt there was too much going on here, I would have preferred a simpler flourless chocolate cake myself, but my friend had no complaints. Sharing these small plates I wasn't really full by the end of the meal and it was pricey, but it was still a good experience and that's what were there for! I have been dying to try this place for a long time and was very excited to finally get the opportunity. My fiancé and I went for date night. The building is beautiful! Exposed brick and colorful art set the mood. This place feels like the place to be. We ordered the fig old fashion. It was delicious and the price was fair. I would come back for drinks. The food, however, was a different story. I know this is a tapas place and my fiancé and I were expecting small plates, but the portion size was even smaller than anticipated. We ordered the the ahi and were given a plate with 5 sugar-cube-sized pieces of fish. The fish was delicious but the portion size was not worth it for the price point. This is my only complaint. I feel like I would love this place is the small portions had a more reasonable price. Most of the tapas are around the $10 mark. With the portion size, a person would most likely need to order 4 or 5.... $40-$50 for small bites only doesn't seem like a good deal to me. The staff was friendly and I loved the ambiance. Mushroom Miso soup was divine ---like no other ! The beet salad was such a great surprise and choice . . . delightful, light and fresh. The craft signature cocktails were decadent & the beautiful, charming bartender was killing it at this busy hip & fun spot in mid-town! Their menu is tapas style, but the portions are nice. We ordered the Lobster Ravioli, good with the pesto, but the lobster flavor gets lost. We also ordered the salmon, very good with the honey harissa glaze and salad, the chicken meatball, probably our favorite with the lemony polenta. The meatball was light and fluffy, very easily shared. We also got the fried artichoke hearts. The Aleppo sauce served with them was delicious, but the hearts themselves were a tad bland. The freaky fries were an interesting take, similar to a poutine, we liked the mustard cheese sauce on them and the sausage was amazing. And finally we got their dessert of the night which was delicious. It was a chocolate sponge cake with a Chinese 5 spice chocolate mousse on top served with a raspberry panacotta. This is a tapas style restaurant with great vibes. I enjoyed the cocktails and the food. From the food I liked the octopus and the filthy fries. I thought the sticky ribs were a bit too spicy.
