Centro is one of our favorite spots in town. This visit, we had the beets, crab and artichoke dip (not pictured), Japanese sweet potato, and NY steak. Everything was prepared perfectly, and the steak was a great size for the price. Cocktails are always balanced and tasty. Sat at the bar, and even though they were busy, the staff were super attentive and made great suggestions. Some of our other favorites we didn't get this visit are the hamachi crudo, chicken meatballs (ask for focaccia with them), pork belly, and the corvina. Definitely give this place a try, and bring people to share with:)
We stopped into Centro Bar & Kitchen, another spot I hadn't been to before, and it did not disappoint! The three of us decided to order a selection of tapas to share, and everything was absolutely amazing. The flavors were spot on and perfect for sharing. What really impressed me was the service--they even brought our to-go order next door to 1864 Tavern. Now that's what I call going above and beyond! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which really adds to the overall experience and speaks volumes about the restaurant. I also loved the patio in the back it's such a great space. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again, this time with my husband.
My friend and I were out antiquing on the other end of town, and Centro popped up on Yelp search for lunch. I drive through this section of California Ave literally hundreds of times and didn't know about Centro! So glad we decided to try, because everything about our Friday lunch was LOVELY. It wasn't crowded, and we were the only party in the back patio, which is cozy and beautiful. Really enjoyed sitting there and decompressing... And the food. Smaller, bistro sized portion and that worked so well for us. The Huckleberry Sour was perfect for a hot summer afternoon. The Ancho Chocolate mousse was incredible. The best thing about our visit today though, on top of everything, was the staff. Our server Dean is the sweetest and kindest. Centro may have just become my favorite restaurant in Reno.
Centro is one of the best spots in Reno for amazing drinks and bites. I love that the plates are small and shareable, you don't feel leaving bloated. THE COCKTAILS ARE AMAZING! Must try the filthy potatoes. Staff is attentive and friendly. Location is cute. Parking can be a bit tricky. There is a bike rack near the entrance (it's off to the side) Love sitting in the back patio. They don't have a happy hour :(
Our server was great! Ijere was welcoming and provided suggestions for drinks and dishes providing thorough descriptions. She welcomed conversation and was accommodating. Centro has a menu of cocktails, mocktails and small bites that vary enough to satisfy most people. Unique with clean flavors. It's a small spot and would recommend reservations on a weekend night.
I can't recommend Centro Bar and Kitchen enough! We chose it to celebrate our anniversary, and from the moment I made the reservation, they made us feel incredibly special. After noting our anniversary on the reservation, Erin personally reached out to ask how long we'd been married and even offered us a complimentary toast. It was such a thoughtful touch before we had even arrived. When we walked in, we were greeted by name, and Erin took the time to explain the menu and answer every question we had. The service throughout the evening was exceptional. The food and cocktails were outstanding. Each dish arrived with perfect timing, and you could truly taste the love and care that went into every plate. Everything was creative, beautifully presented, and packed with incredible flavor. The cocktails were delicious, the Caesar salad tasted incredibly fresh with a rich house-made dressing and perfectly sliced anchovies, and the roasted beets were my absolute favorite--I've never had a beet dish with so many complementary flavors. The New York steak and potatoes were cooked to perfection. To end the evening, Erin brought out our limoncello almond cake with a sparkler candle and a handwritten anniversary card signed by the entire staff. It was such a heartfelt surprise that made the night even more memorable. This was my first experience at a tapas-style restaurant, and I was a little worried it wouldn't feel like a complete meal. I couldn't have been more wrong. The portions were perfect for the two of us, and we loved being able to share and sample a variety of dishes. The food was phenomenal, but what truly set Centro Bar and Kitchen apart was the genuine hospitality. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary feel special, and it's an experience we'll never forget. We can't wait to come back!
Upper Midtown, can't decide where to eat, and want a little bit of everything? This is your spot! Centro offers a wide range of cuisines and drinks, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the menu. If you're spending your hard-earned dollars to vote for quality over quantity, Centro is a great choice. If you're focused on value for the price, you may leave a little conflicted. The vibe gets crowded during peak dinner hours. We sat at the bar and had fun watching the bartenders craft drinks and peek into the open kitchen at the same time. Food: We were very hungry and ordered five dishes plus a couple rounds of drinks. My FAVORITE: Grilled Octopus - Wowza. Deep smoky flavor in every bite that makes you want more. Served with a Cholula-style sauce and fresh jalapeños so you can control the heat (I cranked it all the way up). The roasted potatoes on the side were crispy outside, soft inside, and added great texture. Only complaint: I wanted a bigger portion. 10/10 Shawarma Spiced Chicken Meatballs - Easy win. Flavorful and comforting. The hummus complemented the meatballs without overpowering them. I didn't really taste the lemon, but we were also inhaling our food. Split between two people, you get about four bites each. 8/10 Roasted Cauliflower - Great flavors overall. Some pieces were larger than others, so the roast wasn't uniform, but still tasty. Bonus points for mushrooms because I like them. Phone did not eat first. 7/10 Centro Bruschetta - Decorative flowers weren't mentioned on the menu. Flavor was good, but the smoked salmon dominated everything. It felt like a lox bagel reinvented as toast, which left me a bit confused. Personally wished for tomatoes instead. Good execution, just not my flavor combo. 6/10 Brussels Sprouts - We didn't order these; they were mistakenly served to us. They looked incredibly crispy and smelled amazing. Portion size seemed generous. Honestly wish we had tried them - they appear to be popular. Chocolate Mousse - Rich, chocolatey, and satisfying. Strawberry sauce was mild and easily overpowered by the chocolate (my partner preferred it that way; I wanted more punch). The white chocolate masa crumble was unique, it tasted like sweet streusel bits. Portion was small and presentation a bit uneven. 8/10 Side note: The panna cotta was sold out by 8 PM on a Friday, and when we ordered mousse there were only two left. If dessert matters to you, consider ordering it early. Service: Our bartenders, Bri and Davis, were wonderful. After most of our meal, we bought the staff a "Kitchen Round" (drinks they enjoy after closing). My boyfriend accidentally spilled his beer, and they replaced it at no charge. Kindness plus generosity goes a long way. Drinks: Delectable across the board. I tried the Hibisly and Under Pink Skies. Hibisly - Tajín rim, margarita vibes but sweeter thanks to hibiscus and lychee. Dangerously smooth since you can't taste the alcohol. Under Pink Skies - Creamy from egg white, sweet, and equally deceptive in strength. So good. Beer selection was solid. Draft system appears to run from under the bar. Taps look like a hybrid between a beer tap and an espresso machine. Ambience: Exposed brick, moody lighting, and lots of vibes. The back seating area has twinkle lights and feels romantic. It was packed when we arrived around 7:30 PM, but by 9 PM it had quieted down. Reservations are available, though we didn't have one. Bathrooms were clean with separate men's and women's rooms, though there were no paper towels, and... well... someone before me had questionable aim. Location: Walking distance from several nearby bars. Easy to miss from the street except for the glowing "C" on the door. We walked from spots along California Ave. Street parking exists but fills quickly. Price: It's a tapas bar - expect higher prices. Reviews suggest menu prices have increased over the past year. Portion sizes versus cost will make you think carefully about what you order. For example, the $23 octopus was incredible but covered only about half the plate. Delicious, yes - filling, not exactly. I'll likely save this place for occasional treats or return specifically for my 10/10 items (drinks + octopus). Is it worth it? For the experience alone, yes - as long as you know exactly what you're ordering and feel it's worth the price. Oh, you fancy Midtown tapas bar, you. I'll be back... someday. Just maybe not immediately.
This place has always been my favorite. Don't even know where to begin. The staff and the food is always amazing, the fried Brussel sprouts... Wow.... The grilled octopus and the miso pork belly soooooo good. Fig old fashioned and Up in smoke drinks.. Julie VanVelzen Harpole had the Italian rose. Miss coming here! Go check them out!
It's been many years since I came here. Last night, I visited Centro with some girlfriends. We got in right away for a table of 4. The decor is here is so cozy and intimate. This would be a great date spot if you're looking for one. Centro has a tapas/small plates/shareable style menu. Their menu changes frequently an everything is always very fresh. We started out with some wine and cocktails which were brought out within 10 minutes. They have a specialty cocktail menu, as well as beer, wine and mocktails. We placed our order for the following dishes--Roasted Beets, Al's Filthy Potatoes, Shawarma Spiced Chicken Meatballs, and Miso Pork Belly. The beets were honestly my favorite. Served chilled. The purer and quality of the beets was great. Potatoes were flavorful and had a little kick of pepper. Meatballs were extremely unique and cooked great. The pork belly was a bit tough for my liking but still great flavor.
I am so glad that I decided to have my birthday at Centro! Everyone went above and beyond and the food was as amazing as always thanks to Chef Travis. Even though it was a Thursday night, it was very lively and full of fun. We tried a bunch of dishes but the Pan Seared Corvina was by far my favorite. And the team was top-tier! Between Erin, Ijere, and Travis, they really made my birthday truly amazing especially when they gave me a birthday card signed by the whole team. That will definitely be one of my favorite birthday memories for years to come!
My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary here this past Saturday 8/1/26. We chose Centro because we love the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Our server Ijere was excellent! She met us at the door as soon as we walked in and sat us immediately. After a bit we asked if we could sit outside, she took us to the patio and turned on the misters for us. Our food was excellent as always, marinated octopus, beat salad with honey infused mascarpone cheese, pistachios, and time oil, pickle plate, sticky ribs, and pork belly. We were also helped by Bri, she was very sweet and helpful. At the end the entire staff signed a card wishing us a happy 27th anniversary which was so unexpected and made us feel that they truly cared about their customers. A special thanks to everyone in the kitchen as well Erin, Dean, and Ethan for doing an excellent job!
Went to Centro Bar & Kitchen for my cousin's birthday and it ended up being one of the best dining experiences we've had in Reno. Everything from the food to the service was incredible. We ordered a bunch of dishes for the table, including the sticky ribs (I don't eat pork, but everyone else absolutely loved them), the chicken shawarma meatballs, octopus, and the pan-seared corvina. Honestly, every single dish was excellent, but the corvina completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily the standout of the night. Our server, I believe her name was Ingiere (sorry if I'm spelling that wrong!), was amazing from start to finish. The restaurant got noticeably busier while we were there, but she never missed a beat and still made us feel taken care of the entire time. One of the sweetest moments of the night was seeing the staff surprise my cousin with a handwritten birthday note signed by the whole team. That level of care and hospitality really says a lot about the people there. 10/10 experience and an easy recommendation for anyone looking for great food and an even better atmosphere in Reno. We'll definitely be back.
We sat on the cutest little patio, and our server was great. Very attentive and when they were out of the Second Place, she recommended the loveliest minty gin drink. (Also had the best curls ). The cauliflower was great and I don't really love cauliflower. The crunch and spice was delightful and the pickled mushrooms added an amazing bite. The Hamachi crudo was a fun mix of flavors. The smokey flavor with the bright chili was perf. The Crab and Artichoke dip was bright and rich. From the crunch of the bread to the nip of the slaw this was perfect. And the zesty, absolutely great. The Artichokes were lemony and crunch with a perfect soft center. Paired with the spicy aioli it's a must have. The mint and parmesean worked perfectly it was amazing. Miso pork belly is a must have, the juicy tenderness of the pork belly paired with the bright shisho salsa verde. The BBQ pork rib were also delightful

I've driven by this restaurant for yearssss-- so I'm excited I finally got to try it with a group of friends! The location has an urban industrial vibe. I love the glass garage door opening that connects the street with the inside. The menu is small, but mighty. I especially liked that the menu already includes the tax in its pricing, so you know exactly what the bill will come out to be and it's a whole number! As a group of 5, we ordered 9 plates, 4 drinks, and 2 desserts. Our total came out to $244 (roughly $49 per person before tip) and we each left full! Our server was so kind and patient with us. We took 10 minutes solely deciding drinks and she was extremely accommodating! My top three dishes would have to be the octopus, NY strip, and fried artichoke hearts! The octopus was not chewy, the steak had an amazing crust, and the artichoke had the perfect amount of lemon. The other dishes were nice, but salmon was a bit too sweet, and the fries are great for a hangover-- but are rather heavy. As for drinks, we ordered 2 cocktails and 2 mocktails. The toasted pecan manhattan was personally too strong for my taste, but I like that they infuse the bourbon themselves! Currently, there are two dessert options to choose from and I'd recommend the panna cotta! The limoncello almond cake was delicious, but the sorbet on top took away from it in my opinion. Overall, we had an amazing time! It was a nice change of pace from the usual restaurants we go to and it's the perfect place to chit-chat. The dishes do not all come out at once- more so one after the other, so you are able to talk through all the rabbit holes of a conversation. Definitely recommended going with a small group! read more
Came later on a Saturday night. They got us right in. We love small plates tapas. Bruschetta was fantastic! Tuna with orange segments and fried shallots was delicate with complex flavor. Sticky ribs were a little too spicy and over sauced. Brussel sprouts were really good but they ran out of bacon so they made them for us with house made bratwurst, tasty. Shrimp poboy was really good! I LOVED the components of the steak but the meat it's self was tough. Matcha panna cotta was really good with black sesame chips. Service was great! Servers described each dish when it arrived and were helpful in ordering. Very fun place! We'll be back! read more
Tried out Centro while visiting Reno for the weekend. Most things were excellent, a few could be improved. First of all, the atmosphere is great with fun music and cool art on the walls, but we were lucky to get a table (our fault for not making a reservation) and ended up seated at a tiny table in a corner where we felt like the kid who got in trouble and had to stand with their nose in the corner. It's just a really poor table placement. There was another couple opposite of us in the same situation and you could tell it was just as awkward for them. Probably need to just remove those tables and put one in the center where the window is. The drinks were great! We ordered the Feisty Bee and the Wildfire. Both were fun and delicious. Beware of the Wildfire if you can't handle heat. It has actual spice to it (awesome!). For food we started with the Korean beef taco special, followed by Burrata Nut, NY Strip, Ahi Crudo, and lastly the Octopus. Everything was great, but the red bean paste on the ahi crudo was my best bite. So very good. For dessert we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and the donuts. The donuts were hot and delicious, everything I had hoped for, but the flourless chocolate cake was definitely disappointing. It was tough and over-baked to the point where you cannot cut down through the layers with your fork. The peanut butter mousse was tasty, but a really wimpy consistency. Whatever other cream filling thing was in there was watery and sour, and did not help the situation. It stinks that was the last thing we tried because everything else was so good, but fortunately we still had a donut on the plate, so we just left the nasty chocolate thing and shared the last donut and left happy. read more

Centro is a longtime favorite and we revisited for dinner last night, not knowing of the new ownership and chef. I'm happy to report we loved our selections and the menu (some favorites from past visits and some new). They now take reservations which I'd recommend. We were fairly early but they filled up fast on a Tuesday. The bar is always our favorite though, especially like here where you get to watch the kitchen make magic. read more

There was a lot of hype about this place and while I enjoyed our meal it was, as they say, nothing to write home about. I'm not a tough critic. The food was beautifully presented, but tasted surprisingly bland. The only dish with some depth of flavor was the refreshing hamachi crudo. We also had the Centro salad (boring), the cauliflower (meh), and the salmon (disappointingly bland; leaned overly on sweetness). Probably wouldn't return. read more

The food here has amazing presentation but the taste wasn't as spectacular as it looked. The restaurant is on the smaller side with street parking. I came on a Saturday night and found reservations easy to make. Dessert options are slightly limited but customer service was pretty good. read more

Wow, I can't say enough. This was the best dinner I've had and I've been to a lot of places not only was the staff amazing but the chef execution on the meals were spot on not only the flavors but just everything on the menu. I can't wait to go back if you haven't tried this place you have to go. It's amazing. read more

Late lunch and it was way too much food... So we wanted to just do some Tapas today. Quality/Quantity - Octopus - Very tender, not a complaint but I usually prefer a crispy outer skin with keeping the current tenderness. The Hibiscus Pickled Romanesco & Fennel was the highlight of my meal. Beets - Good, plated well, but just not enough. I know tapas are supposed to be small... And I would have preferred more beets versus the other stuff. Filthy Fries - The bacon and sausage were more of the highlight of this dish vs the potatoes. I like the small potatoes, but felt if they were cut fries, it would have taken this dish to the next level. Again, not a complaint, I like the creativity and uniqueness of your dishes. The pickled jalapeños were the real highlight of this dish. Sticky ribs - Home run, if I can be greedy, can I suggest the sprinkled white noodles on both sides of the rib? Bone Marrow - The couple next to us at the bar got this and I regret NOT getting it. Very generous portions and of Vietnam flavors, it looked great. They also have happy hour, see picture. We will be back for that at minimum! Atmosphere - Small local business. Indoor/outdoor space, as they have "garage" doors as walls. I believe they also have a tented heated outdoor space. Street parking. Open 5 days a week from 3pm to 9pm or 10pm, see Yelp or website. Closed Sundays & Mondays. Service - Hillary, the manager, bartender, waitress, etc was the best. What a great people person! She is also from the Bay Area. Very hard worker, professional, etc. Price - $61 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2015, I also look forward to trying your South Reno location. I am starting to really like "The Village at Rancharrah;" we were just at Grafted, but will make sure we visit your second location soon. To the owners, please take care of the people that take care of you. We will be back not only because your food is so good, but because of Hillary's customer service skills. read more

This place is a quaint, beautiful tapas bar that has a patio outback! The food was great! I particularly liked the Bruschetta (not pictured it was so good). Yakitori skewers were my second favorite. This restaurant looks pretty modest from the outside but the food is absolutely incredible. We decided to try a bit of everything and were blown away by the wonderful quality of the dishes here. I will note that the portions are very small so I would recommend at least 2-3 dishes per person for dinner which can be pretty expensive! - Beet El Chapo 10/10: One of the best drinks I've had in a while. A wonderful blend of earthy, smokey, and spicy. The beet color was so beautiful too! -Burrata Nut 9/10: Such a yummy fall dish! I am still drooling over the creamy pumpkin and burrata combination. The crostinis were a bit too crunchy for my taste but the rest of the dish was absolutely incredible. -Centro Takoyaki 10/10: These were so delicious. The perfect amount of flakey, crunchy outer shell with a tender, doughy inside. I really appreciated the addition of the chili thread. *chef's kiss* -Sticky Ribs 9/10: So tender and delicious. The meat just fell off the bone.The sauce was so good that we asked for a side of it and that really made the dish. I loved the crunch of the fried rice noodles on the outside! -Scallops 9/10: The scallops were so succulent and the flavor profile was very unique. I wouldn't expect Thai curry and plantains to go well together but it was excellent. I did notice a bitter aftertaste which I didn't care for but the initial flavors were amazing. Tapas style restaurants are my absolute favorite way to eat with smaller, shared items so you can try a little bit of everything and this restaurant knocks it out of the park. The service was great - my friend and I sat at the bar and our bartender was perfectly attentive and joined in on conversation. The food was also so tasty! We got the burrata and heirloom & centro salad to start - even though they are tapas style there was still plenty of food for two people! And that burrata with the basil oil - wow, seriously was dipping every last bit of bread in there. We also got the grilled salmon too by great recommendation of our server, which was fantastic. I also greatly prefer the ambiance of this location over their rancharra location because it's a little smaller, feeling more homey and alive with people. read more
When I tell you I was extremely saddened by the closure of the Rancharrah location of Centro, it would be an understatement. That location was a frequent stop for my family and I and absolutely adored everything about it. I know this is the first location but still holds a place in my foodie heart! Centro in midtown is chic and has a great vibe. It's a smaller restaurant in size and parking can have it's challenges. HIGHLY recommend reservations. Even if you don't think they're going to be busy, my experience is they are likely busy and if you don't want to sit at the bar or in a two top on the corner, just make the reservation. They have a great tapas menu. Night we went that's pictured, there were 4 adults and 1 child. We ordered about 2-3 of each tapa that we knew the table would be eating. If only one or two of us we ordered one portion of it. There wasn't an item we didn't try that wasn't decadent and served to perfection. Great date night spot or place to gather, just don't forget to make a reservation! read more
My husband and I got a giftcard for this restaurant as a wedding gift. We decided to use it for a date night! The menu is fun and unique. The menu has about 10 items, all of which are tapas (small plates). We ended up getting one of (almost) everything on the menu. It was perfect for two people! Everything we tasted was delicious. We also split both of the desserts, which we both enjoyed. I would say this place is not for picky eaters. The plates are unique and very flavorful! Definitely a family style type of restaurant. I loved the burrata dish and ahi poke so much! The donut holes were my favorite dessert. We sat on the outdoor patio, where the ambiance was pleasant on a warm summer evening. The waitresses were friendly and informative. We will definitely be back for another date night! Maybe we'll bring some friends and do a double date night next time! read more
Tapas and a happy hour from 3-6 what more could you want. Deep fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella served with a tangy marinara dipping sauce. We split this but after the first bite I kinda wanted to eat it all. Sorry. Grilled mahi mahi in a green curry over rice. With fried basil. Savory sauce and firm fish. Really good. Not sure about the fried basil. Seemed to have cooked the flavor out. Not a big deal. Kansas City strip (stockyards are in KC not NY) over polenta. Nice cut of beef cooked to order. Strawberry shortcake with puréed strawberries. Nice touch. Our server was busy and attentive all at once. Made for a very enjoyable late afternoon. Other miscellaneous things to know. Park on the street. We misread the sign in the back as 236 California. Nope wrong. Went back to move the car. It's a nice date night small space. If you have a group get a reservation. Paintings are by a local artist, A Bryce Chisholm. Our server told us about this. See pics of the card she had. What a talent. Centro made our go back Jack do it again list for sure. read more

The Tuesday happy hour is where it's at! Lots of different time frames online or on old marketing materials, but currently the Tuesday happy hour is 3-8 PM. The food items are several dollars off each. It's a smaller menu but barely. The drink discounts vary depending on what you get. Wine is $6 instead of 9. Our waitress and hostess were super attentive given that it's tapas and people order throughout. The kitchen is open concept so you can watch as they prepare your meal. Love the open garage door seating. We had ceviche, filthy fries and bruschetta. I'd happily order all of them again, especially for the happy hour price! Usually I get dinners in the casinos when I visit Reno. This time, I try one in the town. When I try the first course--Hamachi crudo--I am so impressed by the richness of flavor Layers, I want to give a five-star to this restaurant. But the last course--grilled octopus, totally over grilled, the blurred taste sweeps all of the pleasure I enjoy in the dinner. The waitress told me the octopus was cooked by a new chef. Anyway, I still give 4-star to the restaurant, hope the restaurant can get better and better. read more

Great service! Jessica and Rain were awesome, they suggested some amazing dishes. You have to try the limoncello almond cake is a must, our other favorites were the pickle plate (with pickled watermelon rind!!!) and the Brie and pear flatbread!
