Reserved seating, reclining seat movie theater. Built on the site of the former Moffet Drive-In, it's the reason why the parking lot is so impressively large and you don't have to fight for parking even during the most peak of times. I love coming here compared to the AMC in Santa Clara which can be stressful and infuriating with parking, getting a good seat, and waiting in the concession and bathroom lines. It's not a popular theater since not a lot of residential areas nearby, this is right next to Google HQ and the Computer History Museum. Zareens is also walkable from the parking lot if you want Michelin Guide Pakistani/North Indian food. It's been a LONG time since my wife and I were able to watch a movie since we had two kids. We chose "A Quiet Place 2" and Century 16 made the experience nice with the reclining seats, fast service at concession, fresh popcorn with layered butter, and freezee and red vines for the wife. What's not to like about this place? it's conveniently close if you live in Sunnyvale or Palo Alto. They have leather recliners in the theatre, serve really good draft beer and they have good casual seating leather seating in the lobby area. This is my go non luxury theater, the chairs are really comfortable and they seem to have good movie options at times when others don't . I usually get Pizza Hut here. Ah it's pretty nice and warm every time I get it. They used to have a security robot here which was pretty cool. They have a pretty cool water fountain and a pretty cool arcade here. Came with a large group of friends to watch the Dungeons & Dragons movie. The seats were very spacious, comfortable, and cushy, like lounging in giant comfortable sofas. Solid movie theater that has a lot of the competitors beat. I enjoyed the fact that we are able to interact with people at the ticket booth, rather than machines. They will show you a display and ask you what seats you prefer. Lots of snacks, drinks, and food to choose from once you get inside. If you are with friends, family, or your partner, don't forget to check out the $5 photo booth. There are some cool frames and filters for you to choose from! As for the theater, visuals and sound levels are optimal. Buttered popcorn smell can be very strong so I recommend seating yourself farther away once you figure out the source. It's been maybe more than a decade since I hit up the cinema. I know that's crazy for some to believe, but worth mentioning before I give this review. I had heard the seats had improved drastically from the "olden days" lol, and boy oh boy did they deliver a comfy overall experience. PRICE: We went for the 3$day on September 3rd and while booking online there were some additional charges online FYI. So not quite a flat 3$; nonetheless, worth it for a 4pm show. Also, keep in mind booking it online ahead of time guaranteed our reserved seats and timing and movie choice obv, all pluses. I believe if you are a movie member you get those online fees waived. Comfort: These seats were recliners and my legs aren't that long as my other half, so I was super comfortable the entire time. He is taller, so his legs spilled over the top a bit, but said he was comfy nonetheless. Sound quality: so the seats we picked, were in the center, row C. At first, I thought the sound was too loud for my liking, but it ended up being an amazing experience because of the Movie we were seeing (see photos). Audience: mostly families, so yes there was some intermittent noise and rumbling of snack bags from time to time, but nothing too distracting. Recommend: it would be great if they could have an usher as there were a number of people confusing their seat assignments with one another. Usually people that come in late, so you can imagine. Food: we opted out of food because we had dinner plans after Movie: amazing! hands down best way for someone like to me to rejoin the movie going experience. This theater has been around for a while and I've been before but never realized how big it really is. With 16 auditoriums, each one is pretty big. The snack selection here is cohesive with other Cinemark theaters. The theater itself isn't as modern as most Bay Area theaters, however they have a great selection of movies. I also love that there's so much parking! The seats are really comfortable, though they're pretty worn down and could be replaced soon. Overall a nice theater to come too if you'd like to avoid a busy mall theater. read more

"In a world...." ...where reserved seating and online spoilers are the the norm: Century kinda did it first. At least to my knowledge in these parts. Technically before AMC and the new Icon chain crept in with pre-seating, we were all familiar with the first come first serve notion of stressing to save spots before the movie started. No more! This place solved it and was more or less the blueprint for other cinemas in the South Bay with the leather recliners, alcohol bar and snack-to-seat delivery. I was here for my third viewing of Spider-Man NWH and it still held that premium feel from the first time we saw Deadpool--3's indeed the magic number! read more

It's an older theater but I like coming here. It was one of the first in the Bay Area to have reclining seats. Of course almost all century cinemas have reclining seats and the newer ones with seat warmers, but this place is a classic. The design is also different, the seating is like an actual live theater where the seats encircle the big screen. Large lobby area and concession stand as well. I do have to remove 1 star, only because one of the movies we watched we could unfortunately hear the other theater next door. But I haven't had that problem since that other occurrence. read more

Century Cinema 16 isn't the most spectacular movie theater out there, but it's my go to movie theater and also decidedly my favorite one. I used to go here 2-3 times a week when I had more free time and before the quarantine. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot and buying tickets are simple. You can order online in advance or get in line for the ticket booth. They used to have kiosks, but I saw recently that they're not there anymore. They have large recliner seats that recline very far back. I have a designated theater blanket (small sized) that I bring along to get comfortable. The seats are in pairs, so you can sit close to a friend or partner. The screens they have are large. The sound is great. They have a great selection of movies. They participate in the Studio Ghibli Fest, which I've gone to many times. They also have standard concessions that's pretty good. I've had popcorn, nachos and cheese, pizza, fried chicken with jalapenos, and more. You can join the Cinemark Movie Club for savings on movie tickets and on concessions. When I was going to the movie theater 2-3 times a week, my favorite time to go was early in the morning sometime around 0800 - 0900. There was the least amount of people and I liked rolling out of bed and watching a movie to get started on my day, especially on the weekends when many people would sleep in instead. read more

You have to pay a fee if you reserve online, so just come a bit earlier to purchase the tickets in person. The ticket booth wasn't open when we visited and we were told to buy them at the concession stand. We got to pick our seats, but unfortunately ended up sitting next to a group of friends who kept talking rather loudly through the previews. We didn't want to risk them talking during the actual movie, so quickly glanced at the seating chart and moved right before the feature film started playing. This Century cinema offers all the right perks - boozy drinks, faux leather (and very comfy) reclining chairs, and great acoustic design. They are also located on a giant lot featuring ample parking though it does lack a number of pedestrian crosswalks to the theatre in my opinion. Tickets here are assigned seating which is a nice perk if you are a late comer. I originally picked a show that was 40 minutes out but when there was no seats except the front most row, the cashier checked the movie 5 minutes to showing and found me a seat front and center on the second level - awesome! Great customer service! As for the theatre itself, design is standard. Right when you walk in there's the concessions right up front which then flank off into 2 wings, 10 theatre rooms each. Bathrooms are before you enter your respective theatre wings. Each wing also requires ticket verification and they do check very closely. All in all, it was definitely one of the nicest theatres I've been to without needing to pay an arm and a leg for. My only gripe also actually isn't about the theatre itself, but rather the guests. In a typical movie showing, I can probably count the number of people who walk in/out on one hand but for today's showing, it was like a highway of people throughout the film....no one even attempted to duck/crouch and walk. I know Century can't really control this but it was almost like you needed to add another disclaimer on top of the standard 'silence your phones' bit. My best friend gave my boyfriend and I free tickets to see The Little Mermaid yesterday at 6:55 PM. It was easy to scan in and then my boyfriend got a slushee cola whiskey while I had water. The theater was full, but the seats are large enough that you don't feel too close to the people around you. You can recline your chair and put up the armrest for snuggling. Movie was awesome! Oh and they have a robot in the parking lot to provide security which was super cute, like R2D2. read more

Once I came inside, the worker didn't greet me at all and told me where my auditorium was in a non-friendly tone. I tried D-Box for the first time, and it was cool. However, I don't think I pay extra just for D-Box again. The buttons for the D-Box were a little sticky as well. The seats had an adjustable movement setting and even an off-button if you don't want any movement. FYI, D-Box only moves and vibrates the seat. It's not a 4D experience. I thought the seats were comfortable and the seats had the reclinable adjustment. I love the dome setting of the theater and it makes it seem like the screen is bigger. The auditoriums are pretty big and there are plenty of them. At least for my auditorium, I liked how there was plenty of walking space compared to most other theaters. If anyone in Hollywood or at Cinemark reads this and wonders why people aren't going to theaters anymore, it's not because of streaming (though that is arguably more convenient). It's not because of ticket prices (though they are ridiculous). It's because of theaters like this. The seats are literally falling apart. I've gone three times since moving into the area. Every theater I've been in has chairs like this. The fake leather finish is flaking off the armrests, headrests, and seats; some have stains; and in one theater my assigned seat wasn't level, instead leaning to the right making it most uncomfortable. And as a tip, don't pre-order snacks when you buy your ticket. They charge $1-2 more per item than if you buy them at the theater yourself. It's all pretty unforgivable when you realize you're paying *MORE* for this experience at $16-24/ticket now. I'll keep going until my Cinemark membership credits are used up, but then I'm cancelling and don't plan on returning to this theater again. read more

This theater was dogvomit 10 years ago before they remodeled it. When they remodeled it finally, it was awesome! Now, 7 years later, it's fallen to crap again. Here's a small list of grievances: - air conditioner was malfunctioning the night we went there - seat finishing was peeling off and sticking to my clothes - flies were flying in front and behind the screen, casting shadows and being incredibly distracting while watching the films - the projector was tilted and showing a piece of the movie off-screen - pre-ordered concessions never arrived, I had to go to the cafe and tell the workers there that I had a prepaid order and watch them make it with just a minute to spare before the actual movie began And there are many more things that were just plain bad about the experience. It sucks that this place had such high hopes, but clearly maintenance and management really don't care about customer happiness and quality. I love this little theater. I've been coming here for years! It's very cozy and not as crowded which is my favorite part. I just wish they can renew their lounge chairs it's getting a little old. They have a cute little arcade which I always participate in after a movie. Haha, especially their air hockey. They also serve beer for those of you who like to drink during a movie. That's not me but hey whatever floats your boat. I'm more of a popcorn-soda kind of a gal when watching a movie. This is my favorite movie theatre. All the auditoriums have double seats that you can share with your special someone. The seats also have foot supports, you can pretty much make them into a bed. There is limited capacity during COVID, there will not be anyone sitting next to the seats you reserve--the Cinemark app does this very nice. I normally go to this theater & it's usually a really great experience. This time it was a cold one. We went on probably the coldest, windiest days. We wanted to get some time away from being indoors since it was going to start heavily raining in the next few days. Whichever theater we were in was so cold. Cold enough for me to shiver the entire time. The way this theater is set up is actually one of my favorites because of the high ceilings & the spaced out seating. At the end of the theater we looked and there was a small sign stating that the heater was broken. Of course things happen and we were fortunate enough to have extra jackets. Had a great time watching a movie here with my friend. We came to see the horror movie Barbarian. The theater is huge, they have a cafe with a selection of drinks to choose from, and a counter to grab popcorn along with many other snacks. We got a popcorn to share -- they do not offer refills. Our bag of popcorn was filled to the top and we could not finish all our popcorn. Lol. After the movie, my friend and I went ahead and checked out there little arcade area. Each movie viewing room is a bit smaller than your average theater's. However, the trade-off of having less seats due to soft reclining seats is nothing to complain about. Century Cinema has cheaper evening tickets than many other theaters with a much lusher seating and viewing experience. What's not to love? I definitely recommend giving this place a try. As for the theater itself, it is hands-down well equipped and offers lots of amenities such as margaritas and beer. However, 5 members of our group arrived in different modes of transportation. One member arrived on an electric Longboard because that's what he uses as his transportation to and from work. The Longboard is not the kind you would use as a stunt board (weight and expense of board plays major factors). The security guard watched as our member rode onto the parking lot then immediately approached our member and proceeded to tell him that he would have to get off his board and walk the rest of the way. Really! That is a big and dark parking lot. When our member questioned the guard as to why he was being told to walk the rest of the way, the guard became defensive. Our group member decided to speak to the manager and while explaining the situation, the security guard kept saying he wanted to kick him out. By this time our whole group is there and witnessed this inadequate guard telling the manager he wanted to kick him out of the theater when all our group member asked for was a minute to explain to the manager that he drove there from work on his commute Longboard and wanted clarification on the law/rules of the parking lot. Our group member never used disparaging language, or insulting hand gestures or insults of any kind the entire time. He remained calm and professional. All the while the guard was agitated and aggressive in his mannerisms. Repeatedly announcing he wanted to escort our member off the premisses. Mind-you, all without provocation. To add to the already humiliating situation, the guard kept interrupting our member whilst he was trying to ask the manager a question. Our member turned to the guard and said "Is this your superior? If so, then you answer to her right and I'm asking her the question". He then asked the manager "Is it against any law/rules of the property that prohibits me from using my commute electric Longboard to get to this establishment?" By this time there are 2 security guards, the manager and 2 other staff members around (intimidating to say the least). The manager and the staff member standing next to her seemed a bit confused about the whole situation but remained calm and polite and tried to understand what was going on. After a few moments of contemplation the manager said there were no laws/rules prohibiting from riding the Longboard onto the parking lot at which point our member said "Thank you, that's all I wanted to know". Again, the guard asked the manager if she wanted him to take our member out of the theater. That's when I intervened and said "So you want to kick him out for asking a question, that doesn't make any sense". At that point our member excused himself and went to the concession area. Moments later the manager approached our group member apologizing and offering to comp his movie ticket. Our member declined the offer of the ticket and told the manager he appreciated her understanding of the matter. Myself and the rest of my group don't want to frequent this theater anymore. Although I think it would be awesome to have a scooter/Longboard night at the movies to prove how many people commute on alternative transportation to eliminate their carbon footprint on this earth. Oh, by the way, there is a big difference between a skateboard and a Longboard. The 3 stars are for how the theater manager handled our members situation and the theaters awesome amenities. I wish I could've given 5 stars. The lack of 2 stars is solely based on the unprofessionalism of the security guard. read more

FYI they are now measuring bags and if it is too large they want you to put your bag into your car. This includes purses not just shopping bags or backpacks. They don't have a secure parking lot and there are literal warning signs everywhere about that. I tried to go to the movies last night but they said i had to put my purse into my car and "hide" it, if I wanted to go with my friends. Considering the unsafe parking lot I wasn't ok with that. I asked if they would be willing to inspect the content of my purse and allow me a one time exception (I'll figure out some kind of security that doesn't consist of hiding things in my car and hoping nothing happens later) but the manager who stopped me (this is after I'd already had my ticket stub taken and I'd bought concessions- where no employees alerted me of a problem) just kept repeating that it's a policy. Which fine but this is the first time anyone has said anything to me about the size of my purse and I'm at that theater once a week at minimum. I've seen 14 movies there since July and not a peep from anyone and I've had the same purse. Why single me out for embarrassment? I even offered to let them lock my purse in the box office but no. Personally I think if they are worried about weapons or as One employee who I talked to said this is all about the outside food and drink, then they should just inspect your bag or have a place to check your bag. Or at minimum they take into account that this policy they've supposedly had since 2/2018 hasn't been enforced at all. read more
