Arguably the best movie theater across all brands in the South Bay. Parking is never an issue in the nearby garage, you have the convenience of Whole Foods and Target in the same area, and I love that the theater entrance is separated from everything else. Going up and down the escalators in the lobby adds to the immersive experience of actually going to the movies. The concessions area is always packed, but at least there's ample space so you never feel jammed in. The popcorn is actually good, you get to butter it yourself, and the staff doesn't make you feel like a burden. The theater halls are wide and brightly lit, and the seats are by far the most comfortable AMC has to offer. My past two experiences here actually convinced me to upgrade to A-List because I found myself wanting to come here more often. The recliners here are great and comfy. The concessions area is always filthy, it looks sticky and low key gross. They don't do food delivery to your seat anymore, which was one of the other features I liked about this place. It's in a nice area so you can stop by target and wholefoods or eat somewhere for a quick bite before and after the movie! The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) states that people with disabilities have the right to bring food into places where outside food is prohibited. I have an autoimmune disease and cannot eat gluten, soy, dairy or inflammatory oils which is practically everything they have in the food court. We were denied to go inside due to having outside food which at first is understandable because that's the policy, however, it is unlawful when you have a disability and need accommodations - which I mentioned to the employee. On top of that we weren't even provided a FULL REFUND. My disability substantially restricts the foods I can safely consume. I informed AMC of my disability and requested a reasonable modification to its no-outside-food policy because the policy prevented me from accessing the theater's services. AMC refused to provide the requested accommodation and consequently denied me access to the movie. This violates title III of ADA - "Title III of the ADA prohibits public accommodations (defined in the statute to include, among others, healthcare providers, hotels and establishments serving food, movies, theaters or other entertainment venues, public displays or collections, retail and service establishments and educational institutions) from discriminating against disabled individuals by impeding their access to full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services or programs offered by the establishment, and requires them to make reasonable accommodations to their policies, practices and procedures as necessary to provide full and equal access." In addition, people with disabilities look different from one another. You don't have to be on a wheelchair and look like you have a disability in order to be disabled. Therefore, a person does not have to use a wheelchair or have an immediately apparent impairment to be protected by the ADA act. I will not be supporting AMC no longer and I will be contacting my lawyer and the Department of Justice to file a complaint due to acts of discrimination and a violation of Title III under the ADA act. My disability should not impact my right to view a movie if I decide to bring outside food that will not cause me any physical pain later on. And like most people, I would prefer having snacks while watching a movie in the movies theaters. My main goal is for the employees to acknowledge and be aware of the ADA act and acknowledge that people with disabilities look different. People require specific accommodations whether that is having wheelchair access or having access to alternative foods for individuals with an autoimmune condition and to have a more inclusive food policy by allowing outside food or providing actual alternatives instead of just junk food. read more

This used to be our preferred place to watch movies. Nice seats that recline, good food options. Now they have a bag check policy where they check everyone's bag. The line to get scanned in is now long as well, so you have to show up earlier to avoid missing the early parts of the movie. Not a fan of this recent change. read more

It's always nice to be back to this small theater in downtown sunnyvale. The bathrooms are always very clean and I love their discounted goodie bags. I was honestly shocked to find out that Sunnyvale was hosting this Asian Pacific Islander film festival!! I've been to another film festival before, and it was always at a smaller location! I'm very impressed with AMC and them hosting this amazing event for the community!! My family and I arrived early so we could meet with some of the local stars in the movie and got some great pictures of the artist as well as the producers!! They had a great Q&A session after our morning session of films were shown! The audio sounded great, and I loved the casualness of all the questions as well as how each artist was able to answer. The question asked by the moderator. I wish I bought tickets for Friday as well as Sunday's events because I would love to see all of the movies!! I definitely know I will be coming back here again next year if they're sponsoring again! I will also say the theater was incredibly comfortable within the seats, as well as easy to maneuver and walk by somebody without bumping into them. I loved the La-Z-Boy chairs and how you could tilt them back and hold a larger size drink without spilling it! Hee The concession stand had a lot of different hot foods you could get, but we were going to go out for lunch afterwards, so we just had drinks. We enjoyed coming to this theater, great space, decent customer service. My complaint, the popcorn was nasty and stale. After a few bites, I knew it wasn't fresh and I got a replacement snack, some nachos. There's nothing worse, than watching a movie, and having stale ass popcorn as your snack. Went to watch F1: The Movie in an IMAX theater. I find this location newer and cleaner than other AMCs in the area. The seats in auditorium 1 are leather reclining seats without heating function, very comfortable and spacious. You can raise the middle armrest to make it into a loveseat. You can order food from the app and get it delivered to the seats with a delivery fee. The wait time for the food is relatively long. And I find it very hard to eat in the dark. The audio effects make the experience very immersive. Feels like you're part of the movie. read more

This was our first time watching a movie at this theater. It has to be one of the nicest theaters I've ever been to. It's beautiful inside and very spacious. The seats were extremely comfortable and adjustable. There are even controls to heat your seat if you want. The sound in the theater was excellent and the temperature was just right inside. The theater was immaculate. It was clean inside the theater and the bathrooms. We didn't order food to be delivered to our seats but we did get popcorn at the concession stand. The popcorn was actually better than Cinemark, which is where we usually see movies. The staff were also friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back here for our next movie. read more

This theater is so cute! It's located at the prime location next to WholeFoods and Target and in adjacent to Downtown Sunnyvale and Tipsy Putt! Literally you can do everything here before or after the movies! Parkings were easy! You can either park in the WholeFoods or Target parking lot and it's a short walk to the theater. This theater is located on the second floor. If you take the escalator up, you'll see your view opened up to cute chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows that give you ample lighting and nice view of the surround area. I love how spacious the reception area is and that it has a bar and food court area just right there for your snack and drink needs. Everywhere I went looked clean and tidy, even the restrooms. This was my first visit to this AMC. I believe I'd been here when it was a Showplace Icon. They definitely did a full remodel. The entire theater was gorgeous and well kept. I can tell that it's well staffed just upon entry. The theater I had was intimate but the screen was huge and the seats were very comfortable and clean. It's a nice, clean theater. It does not have its own dedicated parking lot, so it can be hard to find close parking. This theater you can pay online or at an in person kiosk. I was extremely disappointed with how much trash there was and I saw it in the isle when I went up there and it seemed like the gentleman who was cleaning just kicked it underneath. I do wish there was a bit more variety in the movie lineup, and the Stubs app could still use some improvement -- though that's more on AMC corporate than this location. We were up north for my appointments at Stanford Hospital. It had been a long while since I've seen a movie in a theater. And we really wanted a break and just to relax. We watched "Good luck, have fun don't die!" The tickets were really easy to book online and you got to pick your seats.. the staff wasn't very talkative but they were kind, the theatre was clean and nice. The cons, the food is not like the pictures at all. And The food is overpriced. And the nachos were stale chips in tiny little bags. lol with some cheese barely warm in little cups. It actually made us laugh, because it was definitely NOT what we expected. It's a crime to pay more than 2 dollars for that. My husband and I were really disappointed with our experience at AMC Dine-In Sunnyvale. We went to watch karate kids legends and this was our first time doing a dine in cinema. Firstly, we went to order our food and the cashier wasn't able to use my AMC giftcard. She said since it was an older version I'd need to contact customer service and get a new card shipped out to me. This is so inconvenient and there should surely be a way to use your giftcard even if it's an older version. Next, we ordered chicken nachos to be delivered to our seats during the movie. We waited over 30 minutes, and my husband had to go get our nachos. When he eventually got them- they were below average. They were dry and there was barely any cheese on them. The guac and sour cream were so little and it just felt like dry chips. I can make better nachos at home in under ten minutes. Hello, I would like to share a service concern regarding an employee at AMC Sunnyvale. We do not know her name, but she appears to be an older Black woman working as a ticket checker. We want to make clear that this is not about race, as we have had very positive experiences with many other staff members there. We are only describing the employee so management can identify the correct person. My girlfriend and I go to AMC Sunnyvale very often, and we recently became A-List members. Unfortunately, we have had negative experiences both times we interacted with this same employee. The first incident happened on the first day I became an A-List member. I purchased tickets for both myself and my girlfriend because she was not yet a member at the time. When we arrived upstairs, the employee told us that my seat was already taken, even though I had just purchased the ticket downstairs. Since the movie had already started and the line was very long, the situation became stressful and confusing. Customer service eventually resolved it, but by then we had missed almost an hour of the movie. That experience left a very negative impression on us. Today we encountered the same employee again. Both my girlfriend and I are now A-List members. We arrived about 30 minutes late to the movie, and after scanning my girlfriend's ticket, the employee told us the theater number and allowed her to walk toward the theater. Then suddenly she called her back loudly and asked for ID verification. We understand that checking ID for A-List memberships is part of AMC policy, and we respect that. However, the interaction felt unnecessarily uncomfortable and inconsistent. My girlfriend currently does not have her ID because it is in the process of being replaced for personal reasons, and she has not yet updated her photo in the app. We simply wish the situation had been handled more professionally and respectfully, especially considering we were already late to the movie. What concerns us most is that both unpleasant experiences we have had at AMC Sunnyvale involved the same employee, while our experiences with other staff members have generally been positive. We are not writing this to create trouble for anyone, but we wanted to provide honest feedback because these repeated interactions have negatively affected our experience as AMC members. The theater is in a nice location and although we parked in a parking lot, there seems to be a parking garage available to park in. The theater looks newer or updated. Very comfortable made it very easy to become an A-list member. The reason for a lower than 5 star is recently they've taken out the dine in experience. It's heart breaking because that's what made the theater unique and worth while. A movie and dinner delivered right to your seat! Perfect for a date night. This location used to be my favorite spot for a premium movie-going experience. I loved the immersive atmosphere, but I was deeply disappointed to discover they've discontinued the "DINE-IN" service. It seems like a cost-cutting measure, but it's a shame because that experience was a core part of the theater's value. AMC needs a better marketing strategy to engage newer generations; losing the dine-in culture which is as much a staple as drive-ins once were is a step in the wrong direction.
