I went in to have a set up done on a kit guitar I built. I wasn't expecting much from the guitar do to the price and components it has. Man was I blown away after a little love from Larry at Century Music it plays and sounds like a guitar 5 times the cost. These guys are great. When I went to pick it up he showed me everything that he had to do and why. Also was able to get it done in less than 24hrs! Horrible first impression. Will not return. Walked in to ask some advice about a guitar I was rebuilding. It's a cheap guitar so I wanted to practice on it before I started working on my more expensive guitars. I was the only customer in the shop so it was not like they were busy. Not sure the guys name but he seemed very bothered by me being there and even rolled his eyes when I asked him if he would look at one of my guitars. He was working on a guitar in a little room off to the side. I walked in with my guitar and asked him a question about the body. As I was talking and pointing out what I needed help with, he didn't even look up from what he was working on. Only until I finished talking and was standing there silent did he look up and he didn't even answer my question correctly. (Probably because he wasn't even listening to what I said) It was the guy in the far right in the picture on their profile. Seeing as though he wasn't interested in helping me with a cheap plywood body guitar, I told him I also had a Fender in my car that was cutting out when I bend the high e string at the 14th fret. I asked if he didn't mind looking at that for me and this is when he rolled his eyes and said ok. I admit that I was not planning on buying anything when I initially went in, I just wanted an "experts" opinion. But I would have definitely returned and supported their business if I had a better experience. As soon as I saw the eye roll I walked out. This place is right outside my neighborhood so I was excited to go in and was hoping to have a go-to guitar shop instead of going to guitar center. Maybe I went at a bad time. I will not return to find out. If you need a locally owned guitar shop, I would recommend Guitar Tex on McCullough in Olmos Park. Very friendly and informative. read more
