I was a little surprised on the size of the reclining chairs. It was both my fiance's and my first time at this location and for some reason I thought the chairs would be bigger. We've gone to the Lakewood Towne Center theater before and it seemed much more spacious. Maybe I gained some weight over the holidays, who knows. I absolutely love this place and the location is fantastic. Being a brand new movie theater everything is fresh and nice. It is on the smaller side of recent huge movie theaters, but I think that is one of the reasons I like this place so much. I also enjoy the fact you can book ahead online and reserve your seats ahead of time; all of them are the extra large reclining type seats. It does pay to go to the new movies early so you can take full advantage of the XD theater with its large screen and great audio as well. read more

This theatre has actually made me not hate coming to the movies. The theatre is always clean and I've never seen long lines for concessions or tickets. My favorite thing apart from the reserved seating (& tickets which can be purchased online ) are the really nice reclining chairs. Seriously they are so comfortable. My boyfriend and our friends went here to watch the new Star Wars movie as well as the Revenent. For the Star Wars movie, we ordered our tickets in advanced online and everything went smoothly since we were able to pick our seats as well. The seats are lazy-boy recliners and you can control the recliners. Made the movie experience very comfortable and cozy. When we watched the Revenant, we made a mistake. Our mistake was not ordering our tickets in advanced and when we went in, there were almost no seats! We had to get the seats at the very front, and our friends ended up not even going because it was sold out! We were sad because it had been a couple of weeks since the movie came out, but I think it got more popular since Leonardo Di Caprio won the Golden Globe award, so everyone wanted to watch it at that time. Even though we were in the reclining chairs, being at the very front of the screen sucks! I ended up getting a headache from being so close. Never again. ORDER YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCED!! The movie theater itself is very clean and the staff all seem pretty friendly. There's a parking garage which provides ample of space for parking. Came to see child's play on a Friday at 9:35pm. The theater was filthy. Popcorn oil all over the arm rests. Popcorn in the seats. Trash full. Restrooms had no paper towels. Piss poor management. Spacious and clean movie theater in a cute area. I like that it's not super crowded, and parking is very convenient. You park in the parking garage, and get your ticket validated at the theater and parking is free for 5 full hours. No complaints from me. read more

This place is just OK in my opinion... Shiny brand new business but with no LIFE and subpar service. Everyone from the food and beverage workers to the ticket takers seemed they wanted to be anywhere else but there. One food workers mood was extremely put out and the ticket taker actually was holding us up to make fun of another customers attire. Seats and theater are the same as the AMC in Lakewood. Parking is free but limited depending on the time you come. Another observation... My friends and I noticed the crowd were all uptight. Saw star wars and at any other place people are enjoying it and even laughing but here... No noise no laughs it was almost like a library. I'm all for no cell phones, annoying babies and talking during the movie a lot but this place... No soul or pulse. If you want to watch a bunch of movies with stuffy and stiff people this is your nirvana. But me and my friends all thought it looks nice but give me people who actually make you feel welcomed and a crowd that's not as tight any day. read more

My friends had their wedding reception here. Literally! They had the wedding out in the back near the water but we all filed into our own private movie theater afterward. They were able to bring in some of their own food but they also had to buy food from the concessions. It was a pleasure to celebrate their wedding by watching Beauty and the Beast in very comfortable chairs that were easy for kids and adults. The manager was also very helpful so I would definitely give this place a shot as their people are trying hard to give you a good experience. read more

Theater is just OK. Honestly I was expecting over-sized seats by the reviews. I don't consider what I sat in to be over-sized AT ALL. If I can not easily put my purse next to me in the chair it is NOT over-sized. The reclining feature was also sub-par as they didn't go back as far as I would personally like. I have been to other local theaters with much bigger and better reclining chairs. The reserved seating created some issues as the aisles and seats aren't clearly visible once the lights are out. I ended up watching a group of 6 people in the row in front of us argue and get a manager because someone was in the wrong seat...ugh! The employees were all very nice and I definitely appreciate not having to attempt to sneak in a decent cup of coffee so thumbs up on the Starbucks in the lobby. The layout I found a bit odd as the ONLY restroom in the building is not accessible in the lobby yet if you get there too early they require you to wait in said lobby. The restroom is separated from the lobby by this short wall that goes down the whole length of the room to where the ticket employee checks tickets. Now, while we went on a very slow day I had zero problem getting a stall. However, on a normal day when you have a big crowd of people, your ONE restroom with maybe 10 stalls isn't really going to cut it without having a ridiculous line. Overall it's not as good as one but it's better than most. I'll likely stick to the theater I normally go to unless I happen to really want to go to a restaurant in the Point Ruston district. read more

Was not pleased with the popcorn​, it's dry and flavorless. The Grand and the Blue Mouse have spoiled me. [BUTTER] The seats are very nice though. Plush recliners, you may just sleep through the movie. You can see a lot of previews if you come early but if you show up on time it's not that bad. The parking is a pain. read more

As long as I live in Tacoma, I will never go to another theater! This theater is in a great area with restaurants and bars in the surrounding area. These theaters have the reclining leather chairs. Enough said. Super easy to get tickets with self serf booths outside and a counter inside. Lots of garage parking close by, I haven't ever had a problem with finding parking. Great theater! I'll start off by letting everyone know that I never liked seeing movies in theaters. Something about being in public and trying to focus on a nonstop movie has always been uncomfortable and awkward, with all of the live action of cellphones, shifting bodies, and the smell of popcorn breath circulating. I saw a movie here for the first time last night. My experience here was quite different than I'm used to. We paid for admission via kiosk and were able to visually select seats in the theatre and pay, no lines. (I'm not sure if the seat assignment truly guarantees your seats or not.) The theatre is clean and easy to navigate. The showrooms are excellent! The seats are huge, plush, reclining installments with separate arms. I'm not kidding, the chairs recline. Foot rests and all. Big and roomy. Did I mention they recline? Ok, I'll stop. I recommend viewing your next movie here. Plenty of free, covered parking. Just don't be a slob and leave your trash all over the theaters. Your mothers taught you better than that. read more

Your typical big name movie theater. Easy check in to either scan or buy your tickets. Concessions are expensive, but this is the norm everywhere. Seats are spacious, comfortable, and have an electronic footrest. Screens aren't that large, but this isn't IMAX so I wasn't disappointed, and this wasn't noticeable after the movie started. Bathrooms were surprisingly small and limited for how large the theater is. Lining up for the bathroom was a little strange. Overall, a pleasant experience. read more

Disappointed! We have a coupon that I could not figure out how to use online, which come to find out you have to sign up for an account to use it but the lady over the phone did not know that. I waited 17 minutes on hold to find that out, when I was hoping she could book me the seats over the phone, but they don't do that. Nowhere on the website does it say any of this. So we ended up just using a credit card, get to the now sold out show and was thinking front row would be ok. ITS NOT! Do not waist your time, go a different day. Just irritating, they'd build this nice new theater with amazing seats but couldn't back the front row up by 3 feet. No one can sit comfortably in the front row and watch a movie in that place, there bound to have a sore neck the next day sitting that close! When we went to go get a refund, the same lady that had me on hold for 17min earlier in the day instantly answered the phone when we walked up. Are you kidding me, if you guys charge so damn much for a movie the least you could do is hire someone else to answer calls in the box office and that's all they do. She was so rude, both encounters with her. Very frustrating. We still want to use those dang coupons but will probably go the federal way cinemark instead and hopefully have better luck! read more

I am not the biggest "going to the movies" fan so to give a Cinema 5 stars is pretty impressive! Let's begin with the fact that this theatre is brand new, I believe just over a couple weeks old when I visitied, so yes this review is a little delayed. First thought driving up was Wow! what a cute location and great idea for the city of Tacoma/ Ruston.... It's situated along side the waterfront with other business, which gives patrons additional amenities to enjoy! They were fully staffed which was a plus! They have an ice cream vendor in addition to the normal concession stands. Oh did I mention this location has the beloved leather reclining seat we ALL want?!! YES, they sure do! This will be my go-to if ever there is another movie I have to see ASAP! read more

A good theater but not as good as it should have been. Saw Hunger Games in the XD theater, their best theater, on a Saturday night. I am comparing this experience to the AMC Loews Lakewood which also has power reclining seats in all theaters. Pluses -- beautiful lobby -- attractive theater (XD) -- excellent sound quality esp bass -- big screen Minuses -- significantly more expensive than AMC Loews, at least on a Saturday night (Cinemark Ruston charges more for weekend nights vs other nights of the week) -- seats less comfortable than AMC Loews, they don't recline as far back, the headrests are hard and uncomfortable, less wide seats, difficult to walk past someone with their seat reclined. AMC Loews Lakewood has none of these problems -- the screen is 16:9 format, when watching a wider scteen format movie such as Hunger Games 2.40:1 ratio or so there are grey letterbox bars above and below the image, they do not do what every otter theater I have been in does which is provide black masking where the letterbox bars are. The letterbox bars looked grey not black and were distracting -- the contrast ratio didn't look good at least on Hunger Games the blacks weren't deep black and in darker scenes the picture quality looked murky So I will stick with the AMC Loews Lakewood which is a better value. read more

We asked about rated R movies for our high school kids, she said they needed ID - when I presented my ID, she smirked, asked "oh is this your ID? Ok?" Again dismissive. We went to see Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens on opening night at the brand-new Century Point Ruston. What a great experience!! This film was showing in the cinema's 'XD' (Extreme Digital) auditorium, which seems to be the Cinemark chain's answer to the 'LieMax' screens that have been proliferating at multiplexes in recent years. While it doesn't compare to a real-deal IMAX screen (like at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle), this is still one hell of a great place to see a movie! The sound, picture, and 3-D effects were just awesome, and the comfortable, wide, motorized reclining seats really help the audience lose themselves in the on-screen presentation. I was able to purchase reserved-seat tickets for the film online weeks before the show time, which was really nice because it meant no waiting in line upon arrival. The price for adult 3-D, XD, evening tickets (ALL the upcharges; the most expensive ticket they have, I believe) came to $17 each-- not exactly a cheap movie night, but worthwhile for a special treat like this. Non-evening, non-XD, non-3D, etc. will cost less. Everything about this place was shiny and spotless, but of course at this point the theater has only been open for a couple of weeks. There's also a large new (and free!) parking garage right across from the entrance to the theater. Looking forward to seeing many more films here. read more

Sum up: Really Pretty. Not a lot of parking. Pros:The theater is beautiful/new both inside and out. It is next to a couple restaurants so you can grab food before/after the movie. It is on the water and by a walking path so you can also enjoy that before or after a movie. Cons:Parking can be limited depending on time/day. If you are elderly or disabled I would prob arrive a bit earlier than other theaters because it is a short walk. read more

Another bad customer service experience. For whatever reason when buying tickets online it gave me the incorrect show time, even though I was confident that I had picked the correct one at checkout. Was taking my 6 year old to see the little pony movie and as we don't get to go to the movies very often she was super excited. Got to the theater and bought all the snacks then got shut down at the check in because of the incorrect show time on the tickets. Was told that the show time I had was earlier in the day and I had missed it. I asked if, since we had tickets and the current show wasn't sold out and we obviously didn't use them for the earlier show, if we could exchange them for the current show. The manager came over and after having the situation explained, flat out refused. No refund, no exchange and no we could not go into the current showing. Now my daughter was very upset and starting to cry. So what does the movie manager do when faced with an upset little girl and an adult who obviously paid for tickets that they didn't get to use. . . nothing. still refused. This was a chance for excellent customer service. The mistake was a glitch not on my part and there was no reason we couldn't have exchanged the unused tickets for the current show. Instead they made their point. That point being they will not go out of their way to accommodate people. They have no compassion and although they admitted that these glitches happen they refused to do anything about it. The manager had a chance to be a stand up guy and failed. I would rather drive farther than to go back to this theater. read more

I and my friend have never been so offended and freezing in a theater before. The one in Tacoma on Ruston Way has hired a young person named Luna who is rude, caustic, very angry, and disrespectful to paid visitors to see a show. She practically accousted us as we ask question's (2) about how to validate parking as we went through the gate to the movie and where our seat was. She looked at the floor and mumbled as a child would. Then yelled at us then took her anger and slammed her hand against the ipad for parking validation and yelled at us!!! Stormed around yelling and then I blew and asked her name, told me to read her chest and I did not want to get that close to her so had to ask another. As I walked away she screamed obsenities at me and yelled like a baby. Asked a person at concession and got it, then the manager, He clearly was not that interested or conciliatory and I was furious. He talked to her a and then was put on sweeping then back greeting customers. UNBELIEVABLE? Also 29 degrees outside out and NO HEAT IN THE MOVIE SEATING AREA!!! We froze. Never go there again. The Olympia one is really nice, too bad Tacoma Cinnemark cannot afford decent people. This one is on Ruston Way where water affects chill factor. IMy watch said it was 19 degrees in the theater and only 6 people in attendance! I hated my day and it was for a birthday. read more

Accidently bought tickets for the wrong theatre, realized it when we showed up, couldn't use the tickets for a different movie at that theatre because they were third-party Fandango tickets. Called Fandango and they basically said to pound sand. $41 down the drain. Won't go to Ruston or use Fandango ever again. read more

Here it is folks. I will never go to a movie Regal Cinemas Point Ruston ever again. Bought two tickets to see new My Little Pony movie with Stella...through Fandango. Turns out my tickets were for Saturday show. We bought food drinks went to check in and manager told us "no.". Said we had wrong date and he could not refund or exchange because we bought through Fandango. Stella started crying, I asked him if we could just go in clearly I bought tickets. He said no, very clearly while we were holding our food and Stella was crying. He said Fandango sucks and we can't help you. So I turned in our food got a refund for food only and we left. Fandango in turn also refused refund. How do you turn away a crying child when the show was not sold out and we had bought tickets??? Absolutely horrible customer service. Horrible. read more

I've lived in Tacoma for two weeks and have already been here twice! This is a really nice movie theater. I love that the seats are a comfy leather and they recline! The tickets aren't too outrageous. You'll pay $10 on a Saturday night and $8.50 for a matinee. The movie snacks are expensive, but I would expect that at any movie theater. I'm going with 4 stars because the seats are reserved when you buy the ticket. Your best bet on a good seat is to buy your tickets online well in advance. There will be a $3 service fee for ordering online. We got to the movie 2.5 hours in advance and still had to sit in the second row from the screen. Same thing happened when we walked in 20 mins before. You've got to check this out! Even in the second row, the experience is worth it. read more

It's a good and comfortable theatre but as soon as the parking became paid a few months ago we stopped going here.

We saw Finding Dory here. Seats are comfy, but $10.25 for a single ticket? Am I just old, or is that really a reasonable rate especially in Tacoma? I don't know how I feel about assigned seats. It feels a little communist to me. Assigned seating for movie seats may be the norm in Europe, but I prefer the free-for-all experience that comes with viewing a movie in the theatres in America. Nice to have some theatres on this side of Tacoma. It will be interesting to see how Point Ruston continues to grow. read more

Love this theater, within walking distance, clean, nice staff and great seats. Only thing I have to say bad about it is there reward system does not work and so far the managers are unable to figure it out as well. Just a hiccup in my eyes. Been several times and will continue to go:) read more
